Will Apple let you get refund/upgrade?
Bought ipod 9 months ago, returned for battery defect ($30 shipping/handling) new one lasted maybe two weeks, now scrolls and scrolls and won't play anything, reset many times. Now, just want a refund or upgrade, tired of dealing with defective mini. Has anyone tried this? What is Apple's response? It was my 13 year old's birthday present and she hasn't gotten much use out of it and says "everyone" at school has had a problem with their mini's and is tired of not being able to use it.
If you send your iPod back to Apple, either they'll fix the iPod and send back to you the same one or they'll replace the iPod with a refurbished one.

ThanksActually the video card in the 27" iMac is not soldered on. But Apple does not support changing the video card, and the card in the new iMacs probably would not work in the previous model, so in essence your comment is correct.
Johnny, if makes you feel any better, this benchmark indicates that the 5750 doesn't significantly outperform the 4850. So you probably wouldn't see much benefit even if you could upgrade.

Hi,
Some ISPs (the people that supply your internet) have porr DNS servers meaning that sometimes that cannot resolve where an app is trying to connect to.
In System Preferences > Network > Advanced Button > DNS tab add 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 (two Google Public DNS servers)
If that does not work then go to the Apple Menu > About this Mac
In that Panel click twice on the line that tells you the Current OS versin.
It should change to the Build number (Another Apple Internal Counting of the OS version) and then show you the Serial Number.
If it is not present it will need "replacing" at an Apple Store or An Apple Authorised Service Provider.
The Number should be on the Logic/Motherboard.
If the board is replaced in a repair or refurbishment then the Number should be "flashed" to the new board.
If that does not seem to be the Issue have the Finder as the app in the Menu Bar
GO Menu > Go to Folder
Type etc/hosts into the Dialogue Box that appears.
This will show you a Hidden folder (etc) and a file called Hosts in it will be highlighted.
Right click the file and use the Quick Look Option to see the contents.
It should read like this if it is unalerted.
Some apps can change this file and you can have blocks to certain sites for certain apps listed.
If it lists Apple or Verisign then the iMessages App cannot register.
Let use know if this is the case and we can give further instructions.

I have a MacBook 5,1 (13.3" aluminum from 2007 or 2008). Automatic updates will only let me get to OSX 10.5.8. Can I upgrade to Snow Leopard, Lion 10.6 or even 10.6.8? Also, will I have any issues with my iPhone if it's updated to iOS 7.1?

You can upgrade direct from 10.6.8 to 10.8 Mountain Lion without going through 10.7 Lion with the Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody. The Model 5,1 will probably run 10.9 Mavricks when it comes out.
10.8 Mountain Lion is a download from the App Store, the price is $19.99.
Mountain Lion will require at least 2gb of RAM but really needs 4gb to run smoothly.

Also Mountain Lion doesn't run any Power PC programs. To see if you have any Power PC programs go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up select Applications under Software. Then look under Kind to see if any of your applications are listed as Power PC. Universal and Intel will run under Mountain Lion.
Before Mac switched to Intel processors in 2006 they used Power PC processors from 1994 to 2005. Power PC 601 through 604, G3, G4 and G5. Applications written for the Power PC processors need the application called Rosetta to run on Intel processors. This was part of the Operating System in 10.4 and 10.5 but was an optional install in 10.6. With 10.7 Lion Apple dropped all support for Power PC applications. -

DVD and CD sharing will not let you play or share DVD movies and audio CD's. Does any one know of a way to get music from a CD on a MacBook Pro wirelessly to an iMac?
I cannot find the eMac install disk, and I haven't been able to get it to start up from my 10.3 CDRm (holding down option or c), though I read something somewhere about these not being able to start up from system folders earlier than those they shipped with. I've dealt with this sort of thing several times before, and it always seemed to work to simply use target disk mode.
It definitely won't start up fromt the 10.5 DVD-R, and I'm pretty sure I tried putting the MBP into TM to use its optical drive as well, but it didn't work. But it's worth trying again, and I appreciate your input greatly. -
how do you stop the connect to itunes to use push notifications to stop poping up in my app it will not let me get into the app
I have had this same issue but thankfully fixed it. Follow he steps below:
Sync your iPhone with you iTunes therefore your info is backed up. Unplug your phone.
Go to Settings > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings
Once your phone has reset and come back on answer the question until it asks if you want to back up from itunes Click this then plug your phone in.
After everything has sync'd back to your phone everything should work fine.

Now setup your Yahoo mail. -
I open Address Book, go into Preferences, select Template and under the Names field (friend, assistant, father, etc) I add a custom field called "Principal".
I also add two more custom fields in the Email area.
Quit Address Book then relaunch. Add a new contact and the new custom fields, Principal, etc. are there. All good so far.
I have a Now Contact file with about 200 contacts in it. I export all fields as a Text file, Tab delimited. No problems there. With Address Book launched, select Import, pick the text file, leave Text Encoding on Automatic and click Open.
The window that shows the fields for Address Book and fields for the text file side by side opens. This is where you match up the correct fields for importing. If I go to one of the fields from the text file that I created a custom field for, click under the Address Book heading on the Do not import, scroll thru the Apple choices of fields, none of the custom fields show up. Only the original Apple ones are there. Why does Apple let you create them in the Template area but not have them available for importing? Does anyone have suggestions on getting around this?While most likely not of interest to you, Spotlight can also tell you where the files it finds are located
Hover the mouse pointer over the name, and press Command-Option and the path to the file will be displayed.
As for opening a terminal session in the directory where a file is located, there is Applescripts that do just that as well as specific features in Lion/Mountain Lion terminal:

In the future time lets say a month will apple let us go back to ios 6?
A question to apple HQ. Do you want your apple customers to be happy and not disapointed with the new updates. Or maybe they just want their old version that they liked back on there iphone. If you like to keep loyal and satisfide customers would you make them happy?
Out of all the people i know, only about one third of them actually like the newest update (ios7)
I am not making a biased report based on my opinions. i am simply trying to provoke apple to let us download and restore our iphones to the version we previously had, and if you like ios7 so be it keep it.
If apple would let their customers choose between the new updates and the old, A lot of people would be satisfide and they would want to stick with apple. and when a new update come out you can choose to upgrade or downgrade. Isnt it our freedom to choose the update we want? yes I chose to update, and maybe i dont like it, but will apple let their customers, like me, choose what they want to be happy? -JeremyI had this problem as well. My parents are on vacation but before they did I told my dad to call ATT to authorize me on the account. They put my name on their system so now whenever I call or go to ATT store I can purchase phone/change plans and such without my dad being there. The only problem...at the moment I dont think they allow this at the Apple Store!! But they do at any att stores. So if you are lucky to find an ATT branch around you that has iphones still in stock then go right in, call your parents to authorize you (you can do through 611)
Heres through my experience as I am not completely sure about the apple stores. I was waiting in line at the att store nearby my house, there were so many people I was getting frustrated, by the time it was my turn they were already out of stock with 16gb so they told me I could come back the next day since they were going to get deliveries. Frustrated I called my local Apple Store and asked if I could buy my iphone there they said that the person who has the account open must be the one, I called ATT they said the Apple store should allow me since I am authorized, you know what I didnt even wanna deal with it I just waited the next day to go back to the ATT branch near me, and I got it with no problems.
