Will Apple + Microsoft ever add msn support in ichat?

I know about jabber, but this is not fully native support for hotmail contacts.
Will they ever add native support? AV/text etc just like AIM is inside ichat now?

  • Will Apple TV ever get an iTunes Music app loaded on its feature list?

Does Apple plan to add an iTunes Music app on its featured list of programs like NetFlix?
I know one can access Movies through iTunes for purchase or rent, but currently there is not one for purchasing music through iTunes using your Apple TV device.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    1) No.
    2) No.

  • How to add MSN/Yahoo to iChat

I wanted to know how to add MSN or Yahoo friends to iChat. I went to allforces.com and followed the directions(for PSI), but unfortantely it didn't work. Somehow it didn't install correctly or something wrong with the server. I tried again, still same problem. I also went to openfire and tried installing it, but that didn't work either. I downloaded the program, but it didn't ask to have the program added to the applications. I'm unsure what to do or why nothing is working. I checked before installing the program, that it's compatible, and it is. I have Safari 3.1.1 and Mac Os V 10.5.3. Please advise me what to do.

Did you chose a Jabber server that runs a MSN and or Yahoo Transport ?

  • Will a Microsoft Office Add-In developed in Visual Studio work for both a Windows and Mac ( osx ) versions of Ms Office?

I want to develop a Microsoft Office Word Add-In for Mac Users. I would like to know if we create it using Visual Studios in windows will it be compatible with the Mac version of office or is there a whole another way to develop for Mac?
Please provide links so that I could follow some guidelines. The http://msdn.microsoft.com/site
doesn't exactly speak of the platform compatibility of the Add-In.
Thank You very Much in Advance.

Office:Mac 2011 only supports add-ins that were developed in VBA. Office:Mac 2008 does not support add-ins at all. A
new version of Office:Mac is slated for release in 2015, there have been no announcements as of this writing (December 2014) whether Microsoft will support additional methods of developing add-ins in the new version of Office:Mac.
    For further information, check out
Getting Started with VBA in Office for Mac 2011 from the Office:Mac 2011 help files. You might find more assistance in developing Office:Mac add-ins in the
Office:Mac help forums hosted by Microsoft.

  • HT3825 Apple needs to add system support for Nikon D4 NEF Previews... currently only D800.

Apple has added support for the Nikon D800 to 10.6 but not the Nikon D4?  OSX.6 needs to be updated to be able to view thumbnails and previews to raw files from the Nikon D4.  The only update that apple has released only affects iPhoto, not the system.

AppleTV is Steve Job's hobby product?
Perhaps AppleTV has increased sales on the iTunes store, but I wonder if the AppleTV itself has made any money for the company. For all we know, Apple may be losing money on every production and sale of the product, just like MS and Sony have for their consoles. I think the AppleTV is a great idea, but it is too limiting for it to be universally accepted. In fact, the AppleTV should be the universal player of set-top boxes. Apple, I guess, is not interested in the video server market.

  • Future MSN support?

Currently anyone like me, who has to use MSN for Mac, because ALL of my friends are on it, are excluded from using iChat. Could there be an addition, in the near future (Leopard maybe), where Apple will add MSN support into iChat? Not include MSN in the same buddy list as AIM, because I already know thats not possible. I mean include another network or whatever, so there would be 4 buddy lists. One for AIM, one for MSN, one for Jabber, and one for Bonjour.
This is possible right? Its just a matter of will Apple ever do it.

    Hi Kokanne,
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions
The Jabber side of iChat can use Jabber servers (where your Jabber name comes from) that have "Transports" which connect to these other Services (Yahoo!, MSN and even AIM).
See the first three numbered links links here http://www.ralphjohnsuk.dsl.pipex.com/page5.html#_jabber on how and where.
This will at least allow you to text chat to MSN users from iChat like MSN for Mac can.
For what you are doing in MSN for Mac - iChat with the Jabber side set up, can do what you want.
    <hr>
    Re: the Future
Now Jabber are trying to establish their own Video and Audio protocols.
Whether these Transports will get upgraded to do the Video and Audio translation remains to be seen.
Whether Apple is likely to also adopt the Jabber protocols so that any working Vid/Audio transport can be accessed is speculation an can not be dicussed here under the terms Apple sets out for these discussions Scroll to item 2 in User Agreement

o That Apple rumor you saw on another website.
o Discussions of Apple policies or procedures.
    o Speculations/rumors about unannounced products.
o The status of your 1973 MG Midget restoration.
    * Don't threadjack. Be sure your response relates to the topic. If you're reading about iPods and want to discuss your iSight, find the appropriate topic or start a new one.
    * Be polite. Everyone should feel comfortable reading Submissions and participating in discussions. Apple will not tolerate flames or other inappropriate statements, material, or links. Most often, a "flame" is simply a statement that is taunting and thus arbitrarily inflammatory. However, this also includes those which are libelous, defamatory, indecent, harmful, harassing, intimidating, threatening, hateful, objectionable, discriminatory, abusive, vulgar, obscene, pornographic, sexually explicit, or offensive in a sexual, racial, cultural, or ethnic context.
    * Don't be a troll. A troll is someone who strives to disrupt a constructive conversation by posting flames or specious arguments. Trolls sometimes impersonate another user by posting under a false user name. If you have a troll in your midst, let an Apple Host know.
    * Post constructive comments and questions. Unless otherwise noted, your Submission should either be a technical support question or a technical support answer. Feedback about new feature requests or product enhancements are welcome too. Don't post non-constructive complaints, polls, or petitions.
    * Do not post a URL unless it directly answers a user's question. If any portion of your Submission, including any posted URL, results in any accrual of compensation or benefit to you, then you must note this in your post by stating, "I may receive some form of compensation, financial or otherwise, from my recommendation or link."
    * State your question clearly. Include as much information as you can about your issue. At minimum, include:
o The operating system you're using and its version.
o The names and versions of other relevant products.
o A complete description of computer and connected peripherals.
o What you were doing when you ran into this issue. Example: I'm using Mac OS X 10.3.4 on a 20-inch flat panel iMac with 768 MB of RAM and 15 GB free space on my hard disk. I have an X-brand PDA connected via its USB cradle. iCal 1.5.2 unexpectedly quits when I add an event. Tip: As in the example, a good description of your computer includes how much RAM and how much free hard disk space you have.

  • Will apple ever support blue tooth 4

will apple ever support blue tooth 4

Then you would need to add newer hardware to your older Mac
    http://www.amazon.com/IOGEAR-Bluetooth-Micro-Adapter-GBU521/dp/B007GFX0PY#
You cannot magically support features on hardware that was not built with them. The actual wires and chips need to have the features.  You need a newer BT chip.

  • Will Unity Connection ever support Microsoft 365 Exchange

    Hello,
Will Unity Connection ever support Microsoft 365 Exchange.  The link below states that it is not supported in 8.6 but does not state that it will never be supported.  If If anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

    HI Jason,
Here's what I found, Exchange 365 is supported on CUC 8.6.2, which will come out in a few weeks.  However there's a Microsoft limitation of 19 users, but Cisco and Microsoft are actively working the problem.
    Regards,
    Tere.

  • Will Apple Pages support a third-party font that is not compatible with Microsoft Word?

Will Apple Pages support a third-party font that is not compatible with Microsoft Word?  I do not want to purchase Pages unless I can use it for this one very specific purpose.  How can I determine the correct answer before purchase?
Many thanks for any guidance you can offer.

Hmmm ... I see the font in my Font Book and in Suitcase Fusion, but it doesn't appear on the list of fonts in either Word for Mac or Text Edit, no matter what I tried.  I attempted quitting all applications, cleaning the cache using Suitcase Fusion, and rebooting the computer, but no dice.
You think this is an installation or configuration problem my local Apple store could help fix ... not an underlying incompatibility?  If so, I will take it in.
Please know I sincerely appreciate the help.  I'm at my rope's end on a project this evening and truly grateful for the reinforcement.  Thank you.

  • Will Apple ever support the µFT-System (G1, GH1, GF1, E-P1, E-P2)?

It seems like Apple is ignoring the Micro-FourThird System for more than one year now - even the Panasonic G1's RAW-Format, the first of all µFT-cameras isn't supporte bei Apple! This is quite scandalous because this system is so well-accepted by the photographers' community that even the manufactures are overrun by the demand and you've to wait to get some. I would not say that µFT changes the market for photographic gear but what we could see is that its obviously filling a long-opened gap between the bridge-cameras with their small noisy sensors and the heavy and bulky SLRs. With a small lens attached µFT bodies like the PEN or GF1 still fit into a jacket's pocket but offering a nearly SLR-quality and the flexibility of interchangeable lenses and the short FFD makes µFT camera bodies as flexible to adopt other lens types as no other interchangeable lens system.
I don't want to blame other camera concepts - what I want to point out is that µFT is a smart niche as is the Mac, too. A lot of people who think smart buy a Mac and a lot of smart photographers bought µFT equipment in the last year. Every Mac (except for the servers) comes with a really great software setup to make amateur photographers happy and for less than 200 € they can go professional with buying Aperture. Of course, they also could buy Lightroom instead, but that's only half as smart - no system-wide RAW preview, no easy integration into iLife, iWeb, MobileMe etc.
+Come on, Apple - are you blind and deaf? Listen and see what your customers demand - a smart support for a smart camera system in their favorite OS!+

And there's no evidence at all that Apple developers read or take the slightest notice of "feedback".
As far as I can see, the OP was not doing anything other than making a rhetorical plea for Apple to wake up and support an important class of camera. I'm sure that he is under no illusion that it will lead to anything other than helping his blood pressure.
The Feedback route is the way Apple has designed to let users address issues with Apple Engineers. http://www.apple.com/feedback/aperture.html
You will not get a reply, but at least you have submitted your information/request in a more useful manner than posting in these Forums.
I don't think the OP was addressing an issue with Apple engineers, so the feedback route was not relevant. Whether it is more useful to submit requests via that route remains to be seen - I'm sure plenty of people have requested that their MFT camera be supported, and the response has been zilch.
At this point it seems just as valuable to do something useless but therapeutic as it is to send blind messages to /dev/null at apple.com.

  • Will Apple Add an SSD?

I just bought a 27" iMac a couple of months ago. Specifications: 16BG RAM, 2TB HDD, 2GB VRAM. Can I pay Apple to add a 256GB (Which is the highest Apple allows) SSD for me? I would like to dual boot Windows 7/8 on it so I can play games when I'm bored (Skyrim). Despite what I've been told I have done my research and partitioning a dual boot HDD does NOT slow it down if done correctly and in some cases can be faster than having two separate HD's in it. I would like to move OS X to the SSD and add Windows to my HDD with all the other content from my OS X on it (I know this is a complex layout). I don’t care about semantics I just want to know will Apple add an SSD for me if I pay them to do so.

Call someplace near you and see what they can do, double-checking it won't void any warranty.

  • Is there a norwegian dictionary in pages? If not, will apple ever make one?

    Hi!
Since I'm norwegian, I often write texts and articles in Norwegian on my Mac. I currently have pages, but it bothers me that it always corrects my texts to swedish or english. So my question is, is there a norwegian dictionary for pages that I haven't found yet, and if not, will there ever be?
    Sincerely, Lise.

Not yet from Apple, and nobody in these forums can tell you whether Apple will ever add some feature you want.

  • When will apple support Canon EOS M3 Raw?

I have Canon EOS M3 and trying to import the produced raw in iPhoto, however, the format cannot be supported by iPhoto. This raw can be read by canon DPP 4.2.0(hosted in my MBA) and I believe it is because M3 is a new released camera model by Canon.
When will apple update iPhoto to support raw of M3?

APple never ever announces in advance, if an when raw support will be released for a new camera. only Apple knows. Sorry.
