Will apple notice......

..... if i swap the hard drive on my macbook. I just found out i have a toshiba drive and its making me uneasy as...well they aren't well reputed. According to pictures from OWC there are no apple logos on the hard drives of the macbooks like they were on the powerbooks and since the macbook is waay easier to take apart than powerbooks i was thinking of replacing mine with an hitachi 100GB 7200 RPM drive. Is this advisable, will apple notice the drives have been switched even though both are 100GB drives? cos i don't want to void my warranty. Those of you with 7200RPM drives does it say so on your packaging or it just says 100GB Hard Drive. Any replies appreciated.
Thanx

I would call Apple and get permission to do so. They will then give you a yes or no answer. If no, have an authorized Apple dealer do it. I know it is an easier task then the previous PowerBooks but you don't want to void your warranty on a new version like the Mac Book Pro.

  • My smart cover dented the side if my iPad. Will apple replace?

Just bought the new iPad a couple weeks ago. The same day I bought a smart cover. I just noticed it has dented the side of my iPad. I'm ******. Will apple do anything about this? Has anyone else had this problem?

I carry it in my briefcase to and from work. Only thing I can think of is somehow it got pushed into the side because there is a noticeable dent where it connects.
hmm... sounds like the side of the ipad where the smart cover connects were struck by something and that force carried through enough to cause the strip where the smart cover connects to your ipad to push into your ipad and dent it.
I doubt this is covered because this is similar to saying: the smart cracked my ipad screen because something struck the smart cover while it was covering the screen and the force was enough to carry through and crack the screen.
Guess what I'm trying to say it, even though it was the smart cover that was in contact with your ipad when it got dented, the cause is still some external force...
But give it a shot and see if it's covered! :-)

  • In mountain lion, my avchd folders are QuickTime files. Why and when will Apple fix this?

I recently noticed that in mountain lion, when I insert the such card from my camera, the avchd folders that used to exist in previous operating systems are now QuickTime files.  If I wish to see what I could see in previous operating systems by simply selecting the folder, I now have to bring up the context menu and choose to show package contents.  This should not be this way and it really gets old fast when you need to go down several levels.
Is Apple aware of this?   Did Apple do this ridiculous thing on purpose?  Will Apple fix this?

    Such = SDHC
Sorry, Apple thought it knew better than I what I wanted to type.

  • When Will Apple Update iWeb?

Im wondering and asking when will Apple find the time to update Iweb?
They have the potential to have the best software for those that want to make lovely sites.
It would need to be of the Iphoto standard or even slightly more advanced with better updated templates.
Now that we have updated OS and now our retina devices we need that standrd to create.
    Please Apple fill our needs!

I haven't seen an official notice of discontinuation. But even if iWeb has been discontinued (as its absence suggests), we're all just users like yourself here so would only be able to speculate on the reasons — and, according to Support Community etiquette, we are to "avoid speculation".

  • I dropped my MacBook Pro and the corner of the lid got dented. Will apple care cover that? If not, and ideas what the repair cost would be?

Will apple care cover a dented corner? If not, any ideas on repair prices?

AppleCare does not cover accidental damage. Your homeowners'/renters' insurance may. Put them on notice of an accident now.
We are end users like you and have no way of knowing costs in your area. The repair cost will probably be higher for a Retina MBP than for a non-Retina, but you've not told us which of the dozens of MacBook Pro variants you have.
Call an Apple Store and make an appointment. Estimates are usually free.

  • Will Apple replace scratched Mac OS disks?

Okay, the first month I had my MacBook in June, it was perfect, but than after awhile, I noticed that when you closed the MacBook, the screen, was a little slid to the left, so It wasnt aligned right with the keyboard part, and when the BlackBook is open, the top part of the bottom case is coming off and I can slide a fingernail through it. Anyone know what I am saying?
But anyways, I decided, I was going to call AppleCare and get it sent in. But before I had to do that, I wanted to erase the hard drive, since I don't feel comfortable passing personal information through my MacBook, and its not like I had any real important files on it. So I put the Mac OS disk in to erase it, and now the disks are so scratched up that they won't work unless you keep on putting it in and like on the 5th try it will work.
    So 2 questions:
Will Apple repair the case problem?
Will Apple replaced my scratched MacBook disks?
Black MacBook 2.0GHZ I 512 MB RAM I 80 GB HD   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   Also have an iMac G3 TrayLoader 333 MHZ

Does the issue with the case affect the performance
of the computer? If not, Apple may consider it a
"cosmetic" issue and those are not covered by the
warranty or an AppleCare Protection Plan.
If the computer scratched your disks, then yes,
AppleCare should replace them and service your
optical drive. If you scratched them, then they may
charge you around $60 to replace them.
    -Doug
not really doug...although the bezel disallignment is cosmetic, it is clearly a factory defect, not like scratches or something like that...think discoloration

  • Will apple replace the L shape MagSafe Adapter the pins are sticking causing late 2011 macbook not to receive charge.

Will apple replace the L shape MagSafe Adapter? The pins are sticking causing my late 2011 macbook not to receive charge.

Yes, Apple will replace it if you are still under warranty. Otherwise, as in my case, you will have to buy a new one.
I purchased my MacBook Air July of 2011.  Approximately four months later the adapter stopped working. I brought my MacBook and the adapter to the Genius bar. The adapter was replaced because it was under warranty. To make sure the problem was not something I did as I didn’t want to duplicate, I inquired and was told some adapters just have problems.  After two weeks, I noticed the rubber coating to the wire bunched up on the L end that connects to the MacBook Air on the replacement adapter. I returned to the store and was assured that my concern was unwarranted and that since the adapter was working fine I was fine and that if it stopped working I could just return it. On 11/22/12 it was not getting power. I returned to the store. After being asked where I returned the adapter when I originally had the problem (same store) I was informed that the replacement adapter was only covered for three months, to be happy it lasted as long as it did, and I would need to buy a new one for $61. However, the store didn’t have the adapter I needed and could buy the 60W adapter for $79. I was told I could go up, just not down. Before leaving, however, I asked if I was doing something wrong with the adapter and how long the new one was covered for. He inspected the nonworking adapter, pointed at the where the wire connects to the base and said no, usually people have their cords pulled from here but yours looks fine. On the plus side, the rubber coating around the wire of the new adapter appears thicker with no chance of sliding and bunching up. Glad Apple fixed this issue.

  • Will Apple replace my iPhone 5s for free?

I own a space grey 16GB iPhone 5s and have done so since early January. It occasionally force restarts. Today I noticed that at about 3:10PM that it was on only 12% battery, I had accidentally left it on charge for the enitre previous night. It had 90% battery at about 10:55AM. I also noticed that it was really hot in my pocket. I had not be using it since 13:25PM and there was only one app open in multitasking (that app was Youtube and I had paused a video.) I also had a snapback phone cover on my iPhone. I usually get home at about 3:45PM and I usually have about 60% left. I do know that when the 5s was released that some users had similar problems to mine and it turned out that their phones had a manufacturing problem. Apple decided to replace hier phones free of charge. But, that was back in October and I am not sure if that free replacement will apply now. I got my phone through Carphone warhouse and I am on a 4G EE contract. My sister put my phone on her bank insurance as she was allowed so we cancelled the Carphone warehouse insurance. So my final question(s) is will Apple replace my phone? Will I have to pay? Should I go through my sisters bank insurance? Also, I don't really want to replace my phone so would anybody be able to tell me how to fix this problem? My iOS is up to date as well. Thank you for any help that I receive.

The best thing to do is to book a Genius appointment with your nearest Apple Store and take your phone in. This needs to be done online at http://www.apple.com/uk/retail/geniusbar/
They will be able to connect your phone to their diagnostic software and they should replace it if it's within the 12 month warranty period, which it will be if it's a 5S. They will also be aware of any glitches with the phones. Curious as to why you wouldn't want to replace it if it's faulty - not that it's any of my business. If you make sure you back it up first you should be fine.

  • Will apple replace my phone with a new one?

I have always noticed since the day I got my 3g- sometime the seccond week it came out-that it had the problem of "light leak.". I just did not know it was a problem until today when I was searching for articles about my iPhone 3g dead pixel which I noticed yesterday. I think it's a dead pixel-black/grayish and looks like dust or eraser shaving under screen. I also have a couple of stuck pixels-green dots. Anyway, the pixel problems are very anoying to me. If I make an appointment with the apple retail store genius bar close to where I live, will apple fix my phone, give me a refurbished phone, or give me a brand new phone? I know the 3g s is comming out in a few days, but I am not looking for my current 3g to be replaced with a 3g s, just a new normal 3g. Any ideas on what would happen?

Every warranty claim is on a case by case basis. If someone here tells you that their iPhone was exchanged under warranty with the same problem as you described doesn't mean that Apple will do the same in your case. All you can do is make an appointment and see what they say after your iPhone is inspected and tested. If your iPhone is exchanged under warranty, you would not receive an iPhone 3GS as the exchange if requested.
Per the written warranty, an exchange under warranty will be a new or refurbished iPhone without you being able to tell the difference.

  • Will apple replace lost ipods?

    will apple replace lost ipods?

"Isn't there a way for Apple to track the lost ipod's serial number"
    No.
"they wouldnt be able to tell me because the registry is confidential, how is that fair"
Very fair indeed. Notice the word "confidential"? Do you want Apple to give to anyone the personal details details contained on their data base? Including yours? Supposing I were to make a malicious call to Apple to report that the iPod you rightfully own was stolen from me and they gave me all your personal details. Would you be happy with that that? I suspect not. Supposing they then made use of the serial number to block the use of the iPod on your computer every time you connected it? Happy with that? No, me either. That kind of system would be open to all kinds of abuse. And what about the 1000's of stolen iPods that must find their way on to eBay every year? Should Apple track those also?
"Apple should really find a solution to the problem of lost ipods"
There's a very easy solution. Don't lose it. You really think that Apple has nothing better to do than keep track of lost/stolen iPods? That's the job of law enforcement, not Apple.
I do sympathize with your loss, and know how upset you must be, but it is unreasonable to lay the blame at Apple's door. If you report the loss to the Police, and they recover it, then Apple will liaise with them to return it to it's rightful owner. That is all you can rightfully expect.

  • Will Apple replace a bent iPhone 6?

Will Apple replace a bent iPhone 6?

They ought to.  I'm going to find out when I visit the store this week.
The bend on my iPhone 6 is directly under the volume buttons. I noticed it today. I didn't believe this was a common problem. I thought it would only happen if abused. But my iPhone 6 is now bent. I have a case on it. I kept it in my purse, in it's own pocket, or on my desk at home.  Now I've got to take it to the Apple store and hope for a nice "Genius." The idea of having to pay for the damage, after taking good care of it and only owning it for 2 weeks, is really frustrating.
I hope everyone with this problem makes it known somewhere online because Apple ought to be responsible for the design flaw. Maybe they could reinforce that area in future production.

  • Will Apple repair my Iphone4?

Hello, My warranty has expired. I noticed yellow tints on the lower corners of my phone, they are bothersome. Not only this, but the volume changes by itself. (im listening to music and it suddenly drops volume. this is not my headphones as I tried with multiple headphones) And lastly, the home button works sometimes. Will apple charge me for all this or just repair it?

    Apple does not repair devices.
They do offer an Out of Warranty replacement which is $149 in the US for the iPhone 4 and older models.

  • CS6 - Will I notice a difference in speed/performance with only 512MB video RAM?

With regard to PS CS6: I'm specifically interested in CS6's ability to utilize video memory to make PS faster, more powerful; but will I notice a difference in speed/performance with only 512MB video RAM?
Currently running PS CS5 on an iMac (Duo-Core, 8GB RAM, 512MB Video RAM).
Was hoping Apple was going to release new Mac Pro (been saving dough for a few years now). Since that didn't happen, sticking with current Mac setup for at least another year, and this includes a video card that only has 512MB memory.
Is it worth it for me to upgrade to CS6 with regard to speed/performace?
    Any input would be appreciated.

You need at least 1Gb video memory to make use of the new GPU accelerated features in CS6

  • Will I notice a difference?

If I choose the 2.8 GHz processor instead of the 2.53, will I notice the difference when using the MacPro 15" laptop?
Will I notice an increase in heat from the higher processor?
2.53GHz Intel Core 2 Duo to an even faster 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.

I went with the 2.53GHz because in my estimation that is the machine at the perfect price point. Lots of processing power/memory/hard drive for the best price. You're going to end up paying a premium for the 2.8 upgrade and only receive a small increase in performance. Plus by upgrading to the 2.8 your warranty is going to change from the stock machine to a CTO. Meaning if something is defective, it will be repaired instead of replaced. For instance if I found something was wrong with MBP when I first bought it, I could have walked into the apple store and get it replaced. If I opted for the 2.8, it would have had to be sent in for repair. They could have replaced it then, but it would take time to configure a new one, either way its too much for too little
