Apple needs to improve the functionality of their audiobooks. I just recently purchased a $40 bible audiobook. I am listening to it through iOS 5.0.1 on an iPhone 4 and the interface is extremely limited. It's not at all intuitive. There isn't an option for book marking, which I would very much appreciate. I just think they could do a lot to improve the audiobook experience. Especially since it is one of their products...

Apple does not make the audiobooks. They only sell them.

For example why has Coda 2 not been updated to version 2.0.4? Apple needs to improve the approval system. It has now been 2 months since Apple has approved Coda 2 updates. Coda 2 is not the only application experiencing similar issues. It is embarrasing when a vendor has to say this has been fixed but we are awaiting approval from Apple to update the app on the app store.
How embarrasing Apple! I am a long time Mac and iOS user myself and even I am strongly considering alternative solutions, need I say more.

And if the developer is lying to you? Perhaps the developer has failed to follow the Apple guidelines for iOS apps. To blame it on Apple alone is awfully convenient.

Regarding having them update the specs, one can dream. Dreams are free. LOL. Hopefully the memory makers will update their specs as more makers start supporting a large memory configuration.

I did not do an extended test of the sticks in my MBP. Their home is in the ThinkPad I have because it is running Windows Server 2008 with Hyper-V.
As you can see from the link above, these little suckers are pricey. But consider the price of 2GB SoDIMMs were $950 when they entered the market a couple of years ago. The price will drop.
I asked the Kingston rep that sent these to me if online sites like newegg.com would have them soon. She indicated no, but the corporate buying sites like CDW and Zone would. So check around. They just started shipped a couple of weeks ago so be patient.

I have been getting frustrated using the search on these forums. I find the content very useful (especially as I cannot seem to find any other forums for Oracle Portal) but the search facility is very poor.
Firstly, the Search will on search for an exact match in the body of the messages, not the subject at all! This is very annoying as people usually sum-up there question in the subject and often do not repeat the subject in the message.
Secondly, the search looks for exact matches of your search string, so searching for more than one word become difficult. Bascially, it does only an exact match, not a word search, so forget about using keywords to search on as you would do in every other search engine and be very carful of the order of your words, you'll get a completly different set of results by swaping the order of your words... :(
eg. Selecting "ALL FORUMS", try searching for "Customizing Change Password Page". no hits? ok try "Customizing Password" still no hits? ok try "Customizing the Password". still no hits? ok just try "customizing". You get 10 Pages of 20 (Oracle conviently puts them over 10 pages so you cannot view them all on a html page and do your own secondary search using CTRL-F). Well, this is too many, lets just try "Change Password". again 20 x 10+ pages. At least this time we've got some that also have the work customizing in the subject. If only we got here on the first search... Don't even think of adding the word "PDK" or "Example" to your search...
I have already provided feedback to Oracle on this matter (and am still waiting for a reply). If you would also like the search improved, please also send Oracle some feedback and make this forum more useful. If enough people pester them they might think it's important enought to change. link below:

OSX 10.4.8 Will Apple repair within the update?

After days of trying to repair the damage 10.4.8 caused to my MacBook's OS, following all the tips and tricks on this forum, I am left only with the Erase and Install option.
Questions - Will Apple tech patch the many problems forum users are experiencing within 10.4.8 as these issues are fixed? Will I be able to install 10.4.8 say a month or so from now and get an updated version? If so, how do I know which updated version I am getting and which issues have been resolved within the update?

There will be no revised releases of 10.4.8. The next update would be 10.4.9 assuming that such an update would be released between now and when 10.5 is released.
In most cases 10.4.8 has not caused any problems. I've upgraded three computers thus far without any incident as well as having beta tested 10.4.8 prior to its release on both a MacBook Pro and a Mac Pro.
Perhaps the problems you were having could have been the result of upgrading an already corrupted system. After you do your Erase and Install and have a freshly functioning and clean system you should download the 10.4.8 Combo Updater (Intel version) and give it a try. I would, however, recommend you create a bootable backup of your system beforehand. That will alleviate restoring the old system in the event of problems.
In the future there are certain precautions you can follow that will reduce the likelihood of update problems.
1. Repair the hard drive and permissions.
2. Make a bootable backup of the current system.
3. Download and use only the Combo Updater.
4. Boot into safe mode before installing the update.

You should not have an issues with removing accounts and messing with others users backup. As long as you are not removing the main account that is yours that you use for back up, everything will be fine.

It seems impossible to get the horizontal scrolling to work smoothly and in a way that doesn't result in some albums/apps in the row being skipped.

First, iDVD is not and never has been part of OS X. If iDVD is not working correctly, then you should investigate possible problems with that application, support files, preferences, or cache.
Of course you can always reinstall OS X if you wish:
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

Dear Apple - PLEASE improve iTunes!!

To whom it may concern at Apple.
Listen folks, you HAVE to do something about iTunes to improve the user experience for managing devices - it's an absolute nightmare, and that's coming from an I.T. professional of over 20 years.
There needs to be more granular control of syncing/backing up, etc. It's far too easy to perform a sync function and find you've wiped out things you didn't mean to.
I know it's not just me - you can spend hours on the internet reading complaints about iTunes - namely folks losing their information. I don't understand why you won't address these issues? Considering what you've accomplished, I can't image it would be that difficult to improve this important feature of the i-Products.

Will Apple give me the aluminum macbook 13 inch?

I am still on the 1 year warrenty for apple on a white macbook.
After installing the 10.5.6 update, my laptop has started running slower than before the new update that was suppose to make improvements.
If I use the warranty,will they give me the new macbook aluminum?

Apple will NOT replace a machine for software issues, they will ask that you first attempt an archive and install from your original DVDs that came with your system.
If an archive and install does not work, they will ask you to perform an erase and install.
They will only replace hardware if a hardware issue is to blame (I.E.; REPAIR), they also only replace an entire machines as a last resort.
And your best bet, STAY FAR AWAY FROM BEST BUY SUPPORT!!!!
They are known for letting uncertified "techs" work on Apple branded machines thus VOIDING your warrantee and you are left with no warrantee and and Best Buy will NOT go to bat for you claiming it was your responsibility to go to Apple directly.
Call 1-800-275-2273 to contact AppleCare directly... they will walk you through any issues that you may have.
Please take my word on this, I was an Apple Certified tech.
