Like most all warranties on most all products, it covers manufacturer defects.

If not covered by the options AppleCare+ extended warranty,
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $199 for 64 GB 4G and $99 for the other 4Gs. They do not fix yours.

  • Will Apple replaced a cracked screen iPod?

My iPod's screen is cracked. It has been for a while.
Recently, my iPod has been not working for no reason known to me. It is not showing up in windows or itunes. Will Apple replace it? (I bought it 3 months ago, I think its still under warranty) Or will they just say that I'm only doing it because of the screen?

My gut feel is that Apple will allege that the same abuse that caused the crack has caused these conditons. However, if you're in the U.S., call 800-275-2273 and ask. I have heard that they do occasionally bend the rules.

No.  Warranty is most certainly not insurance.
Insurance, like car insurance or home owners insurance.

    Hi,
Apple does not have an iPhone replacement service, but they do have display repair service. So you may arrange the display repair for $149,99, send them your iPhone, and they will send make a like for like change. You may receive:
-the best case - the new iPhone 2G, (of course not retail box, no charger or other accesories, you will receive just phone sealed in tape, in a small white box).
    - the worst case - the new iPhone 3G, 3GS or 4 (the same no retail box, etc.).
If you are lucky, you will receive the iPhone 2G which is more than $500 worth on eBay.
    Regards,
    Oleg.

  • Will apple replace My Scratched, Faulty iPod !??

Sorry if I posted this in the wrong space, it's just it was too difficult to find out how to post a new topic..
    Anyway,
I bought my iPod touch 2g on december 26th 2008, for the past 3 months i've been having problems trying to charge it. it would only charge if the Dock cable was pushed right in on to the port on the base, which means i would have to tie a rubber band around to keep it tight.
Now yesterday, i tried to sync with itunes, and my iPod would not connect, so i tried my dads cable, and he tried mine, his ipod using my cable worked fine, but his cable and my cable didn't work on my iPod.
Now my iPod will not charge at all, not via AC Power, nor via PC , using 2 different cables.
i rand apple and they are going to send me a box to send mine back with, but i need to keep some battery left in it to prove that it works. but i only have 50% left :S.
    Now my main question is.
I read some stories about apple replacing iPods, and everythin was in my favour, until i read a story about Apple would not replace someone's iPod, because the back was really scratched, and their happened to be 2 Hairline crack's. On the screen or not i don't know.
The back of my iPod is very scratched indeed, and my screen has a few scratches, but i'm now worried that my £165 christmas investment will not get repaired because of how bad the condition is. I have never opened my iPod, nor dropped it, the litmus paper inside the iPod Headphone port is still white. But i am now worried my iPod will remain a (very expensive,) scratched Paper wieght .
Although, even though my iPod will not charge. if i connect it to the pc when the iPod is turned off, it will automatically turn itslef on. but will not charge??
Please let me know if it will get replaced or not .
    Thanks in advance

If you're concerned about Apple refusing service or replacement of the unit due to the back being too scratched, realize that it's pretty near impossible to not have scratches on the back. It may in fact be scratched if you look at it the wrong way. Unless you cover it with an Invisible Shield or another similar protector right after you remove it from the box (which is exactly what I did), there will be scratches.

  • Will Apple replace the whole shattered iPod for no charge?

My iPod is completely shattered. It's an iPod Touch 4th Generation. I have an apple store in my area. I do not want to get it repaired because of my last experience repairing the shattered screen. Will the Apple Store replace the whole thing for no charge? Thanks for all of your help!

No, accidental damage is not covered by the warranty.

  • HT4061 Will apple replace stolen ipods

Will apple replace a stolen Ipod Touch???

I so want to say something dumb right now, but I won't. Apple will replace your iPod if poor workmanship is involved they will replace if software issue is detected or you have a case of buyers remorse if within 14 day grace period. But drop it in the toilet or get ripped off, you're on your own. But it is a nice idea. Some credit card company's have theft replacement and some stores may cover with additional warranties, but I'm not aware of Apple covering lost or stolen property. Good luck, Cheers.

Will apple replace a 4th generation iPod touch with a cracked screen for free?

No. A cracked screen is defined as accidental damage and accidental damage is not covered by the warranty. IIRC, the out of warranty fee is $99 for an iPod 4.

  • Will apple replace lost ipods?

    will apple replace lost ipods?

"Isn't there a way for Apple to track the lost ipod's serial number"
    No.
"they wouldnt be able to tell me because the registry is confidential, how is that fair"
Very fair indeed. Notice the word "confidential"? Do you want Apple to give to anyone the personal details details contained on their data base? Including yours? Supposing I were to make a malicious call to Apple to report that the iPod you rightfully own was stolen from me and they gave me all your personal details. Would you be happy with that that? I suspect not. Supposing they then made use of the serial number to block the use of the iPod on your computer every time you connected it? Happy with that? No, me either. That kind of system would be open to all kinds of abuse. And what about the 1000's of stolen iPods that must find their way on to eBay every year? Should Apple track those also?
"Apple should really find a solution to the problem of lost ipods"
There's a very easy solution. Don't lose it. You really think that Apple has nothing better to do than keep track of lost/stolen iPods? That's the job of law enforcement, not Apple.
I do sympathize with your loss, and know how upset you must be, but it is unreasonable to lay the blame at Apple's door. If you report the loss to the Police, and they recover it, then Apple will liaise with them to return it to it's rightful owner. That is all you can rightfully expect.

  • My iPhone 4 got stolen and it has apple protection care, will apple replace it?

My iPhone 4 got stolen and it has apple protection care, will apple replace it?

If you mean the Extended Warranty, then, no, Apple does not replace stolen or lost iPhones. If you have theft protection through other insurance, then report it to your agent. Be sure to report the theft to the police.
I would not hold your breath waiting for it to be recovered, however. Very few items like iPhones that have been stolen are ever recovered.

  • My iPod touch is COMPLETELY unresponsive. Will Apple replace it?

This morning I picked up my iPod touch and tried to turn it on. Nothing happened, so I assumed it was just out of batteries. I left it on the charger for hours and then treid it again- nothing. The iPod just plain won't turn on. I tried it on iTunes in DFU mode- nothing. This iPod was never jailbroken, but it is safe to say it is "bricked". Recently I tried updating it to iOS 5, but I was unable to because of an iTunes error.
Unless Apple can magically go inside it and fix it- because it's most certainly some kind of hardware failure- this iPod has seen its last day. Will Apple replace it? It was a replacement iPod for another one I had that lost its charge, but is covered under the warranty for another year. Will they replace it or make up some trumped-up charge that I mis-used it? (A few years ago on a different iPod, a 2G, they claimed the liquid immersion had activated, but I checked this myself and found nothing!) Literally, I just picked it up and it was not working.

    Yes unless:
If Apple determines that an iPod is not repairable, for example, if it has failed due catastrophic damage or the iPod has been disassembled into multiple pieces, then Out-of-Warranty Service is not available and the iPod will be returned. Please see Apple's Repair Terms And Conditions for further details.
