Someone please let me know if Apple will replaced Ipod4 with expired warranty for cracked screen. If so, does this fall under the $99 plan for replacement?

The following quotation from Apple - Support - Service Answer Center mentions catastrophic damage or was disassembled into multiple pieces as exclusions. Other devices (iPhones for example) are repairable for cracked screens so I don't see why the iPod wouldn't. The above link also has the prices

iPod out-of-warranty battery replacement service: If your iPod requires service only because the battery's ability to hold an electrical charge has diminished, please refer to the Battery Replacement section for more information.
Out-of-warranty service: If your iPod requires service for any other hardware failure that is determined by Apple to be repairable, Apple will service your iPod for an out-of-warranty repair service fee. Refer to the Repair Pricing section for more information.
If Apple determines that an iPod is not repairable, for example, if it failed due catastrophic damage or was disassembled into multiple pieces, then out-of-warranty service is not available and your iPod will be returned. Please see Apple's Repair Terms and Conditions for further details.

There are third-party firms that do repairs on iDevices, and there are places where you can order parts to DIY if you feel up to the task:
1. iResq or Google for others.
2. Buy and replace screen yourself: iFixit

No. A cracked screen is defined as accidental damage and accidental damage is not covered by the warranty. IIRC, the out of warranty fee is $99 for an iPod 4.

Also--I never said that they shouldn't take them back--just to not be surprised if they were not replaced. They may well be, and as stated above, +I could be quite mistaken.+
I am also presuming that these are not the stock earbuds that come with iPods, but a set of headphones that may not be stock issue. (They may not even be Apple-brand.) If these are the Apple in-ear headphones with remote that one buys as a standalone purchase, then they should be replaced if under a year. If these are the Dr. Dre sets...who knows? I am working with the information I got from the original poster.
I guess I've worked too much retail, and have seen too many worst-case scenarios. I'd rather see them get replaced (and be incorrect) than to say yes, they'll be replaced no questions asked--and find out later they weren't.
Still--a year warranty should be a year warranty....

I have a 2 week old ipod touch 4 with a broken screen. Can anyone tell me if it is covered buy warranty (unlikely l know) and if not what are the costs involved in getting it fixed and are the do - it - yourself kits any good.

But you can also search the Internet for 3rd party repair, but you'll have no warranty after that by Apple anymore.

I have always noticed since the day I got my 3g- sometime the seccond week it came out-that it had the problem of "light leak.". I just did not know it was a problem until today when I was searching for articles about my iPhone 3g dead pixel which I noticed yesterday. Every warranty claim is on a case by case basis. If someone here tells you that their iPhone was exchanged under warranty with the same problem as you described doesn't mean that Apple will do the same in your case. All you can do is make an appointment and see what they say after your iPhone is inspected and tested. If your iPhone is exchanged under warranty, you would not receive an iPhone 3GS as the exchange if requested.
Per the written warranty, an exchange under warranty will be a new or refurbished iPhone without you being able to tell the difference.

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price as an out-of-warrany replacement. They do not fix yours.

Will Apple replace iPhone 5 for broken lock button, if under warranty ?

I've had my iPhone 5 around 5 months.
For a few days the button has been sticking, and I've had to press it around 6 times to get it to lock/wake.
However today, the button is totally stuck and isn't even clicking at all.
It's still in warranty, however I haven't got AppleCare or insurance with O2.
On Apple's support page, it stated I can send it off to be repaired, however, this can take 7 days.
If I make a Genius appointment, and go into the store, do they sent it off or replace it you there and then.

If it's defective, as opposed to physically damaged due to accident or abuse, then Apple will replace the phone.
If you make an appointment and take it in to the genius bar, they should be able to replace it on the spot.

My loudspeaker hasn't been working for a few weeks now, and recently the lock button has stopped working too.
I've never dropped my phone in water etc. for the loudspeaker to stop working, and the lock button suddenly just did not work anymore - jammed in?
