If Apple determines that an iPod is not repairable, for example, if it has failed due catastrophic damage or the iPod has been disassembled into multiple pieces, then Out-of-Warranty Service is not available and the iPod will be returned. Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.

According to Apple this is the beginning of equipping Apple Stores with the resources needed to do most repairs for iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches that would not require major replacements. Recently my iPod touch 4th gen. was stolen. I have had it for two years, so I don't have a warranty on it anymore. I reported it to the police, but what will apple do? This one kid reported to them that his was stolen and they gave him a new one. Will they do the same for me? Is there any other way I can get all my pictures from my iPod without iCloud set up? My three young sons pooled their money and bought an iPod touch a few years ago. The oldest decided he wanted his own. We bought him one for Christmas last year, and I set it up using the same Apple ID. My oldest son downloaded some games but soon found whenever his brothers played the same games, the progress and changes were transferred to his device and vice versa. Is there a way to create a new Apple ID for the old device? If I am able to do that, will the younger kids lose all their pictures and videos? I am not concerned about them losing games or music. They have very little paid content on their iPod, but the older one has hit the age where he wants to start downloading music and better apps. Thank you for any help!!

Changing the ID does not erase any Data from the device
CHANGE ID
The ID is used in the following locations and you have to change them.
Settings>Messages>Send and Receive
Settings>FaceTime
Settings>GameCenter
Settings>iCloud
and Settings>iTunes and App store
You have to sign out of ID (for iCloud you delete the iCloud account from the iPod) and sign in with other ID.
Note the following are resolved if you use Family Sharing (iOS 8 and later):
- Apps are locked to the account that purchased them.
- To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.
If the iPod has iOS 7 or later then you have the enter the password for Apple ID presently sign in Settings>iCloud.
Also, a Restriction can be set (Settings>General>Restrictions) the prevents changing accounts -

If i have a shattered ipod touch 4th ggeneration and i trade it in at Apple Store for the ipod touch 5th generation Will they take it even though it is shattered? and will i get my 10% recycling thing?
As far as recycling, they will take one, dead or alive, so I assume a shattered one would qualify just as well.

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was designed for you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchased content.

Can someone please help with my issue listed - My ipod 4G wont go past the apple logo when I turn it on - it will stay on the apple logo for few min, then blanks out and back to the apple logo. Tried reset option/troubleshoot several times. Also wont show up on computer at all when I plug in to USB.
Any tips are very much appreciated.Place the iPod Touch into DFU mode. This will be similar to what the factory would do to install the iOS onto new iOS devices.
Placing it into DFU mode will allow you to "format" and install the current iOS for that device.
To place your iOS device into DFU mode.
First connect you iOS device to you computer.
Open iTunes if not already open
Now turn off your iOS device using the power swipe.
Press the home and sleep button on your iOS device for 10 seconds.
Release the sleep button but carry on holding down the home button. For another 10 seconds.
Your iOS device should now be on DFU. Click on restore and iTunes will download the latest iOS for your device.
Hopefully that sorts it if not, you will have to go to a service centre or call Apple Care up and get them to collect it and repair it. (replace it) Or go into an Apple Store. -
My daughter is currently using my Apple ID with her ipod touch. I will be upgrading her to an iPhone 4S and would like to use a different Apple ID and a new computer and still keep all the current music and Apps that she has now. How do I do this?
Make a new Apple ID for her.
Use it on her iPhone 4S for iCloud, iMessage and FaceTime.
Use your ID on her iPhone 4S for iTunes and App Stores.
Sign in with your Apple ID on iTunes Store (on iTunes app of her new computer)
Authorize her new computer with your Apple ID in iTunes (iTunes menu>Store>Authorize this Computer)
Check "Share my Library on my Local Network" in iTunes Preferences in your and her computer
Sign in Home Sharing of her iTunes with your Apple ID.
Copy all the Music she wants from the old computer to the new one. (Must be on the same network)
Copy all the apps she wants from the old computer to the new one. (Must be on the same network)
Export all playlist as xml files from the old computer to the new one.(right click on the playlist to export and "File>Library>Import Playlist to Import)
Sync her iPhone 4S with all content she wants from her new computer (all data from the old computer will be deleted)
Are you sharing Contacts or other data from iCloud?
Be careful or ask for help about moving from iCloud account to another one. -

I have an ipod touch 3rd generation 64gb and it has iOS 5.1.1 and it will connect to my WiFi for a few seconds and then nothing will load. It says I have full connection bbut nothing works. I have 2nd generation ipod and it connects fine. Along with my laptop and xbox 360. I have tried downgrading it and restoring it from itunes. I also tried forgetting the network and inputting it myself but it sti does the same thing. I even tried resetting my wireless modem but it still didnt make a change. I really could use some help. I can't call apple cause im no longer under warranty.
Reset the iPod and connect to its syncing computer. It it shows in iTunes restore the iPod.
Next see if placing the iPod in recovery mod will allow iTunes t see the iPod so you can restore the iPod. For recovery mode see:
