The key itself still works fine, but the button itself is broken (which ticks me off as I've had this iMac for less than a month). I live 2 hours away from the closest Apple store, so it's a PITA to trek that far to replace one keyboard button. Mailing it here would be much easier (and cost-effective, given the price of gas these days!).

No, you don't get a new iPhone simply because you cannot afford to replace it.
What do you mean it's "broken"? Is it physically broken? If so, warranty does not cover user damage.

You can try, but the iPhone warranty terms state that Apple "may" restrict warranty/service to country of original purchase...key word here is "may".

Apple does not repair smashed phones. It will replace the phone with another iPhone 3G as an out of warranty exchange for 199.00 USD.
You should check with your carrier to see if you are eligible for a subsidized iPhone 4. It may cost you the same as the out of warranty replacement for a phone almost 3 generations old.

What will Apple charge me to replace hard drive?

My iMac hard drive is failing and needs to be replaced (according to Disk Utility). What will Apple charge me to replace hard drive or should I just do it myself? You will generally get the same type of phone as the one you have. If they run out of those, Apple may, at their option replace it with a different, comparable model.
I never heard any reports of widescale replacement of the 3GS with the 4. However, I suspect it depends on the particular store.

Apple will send you a new iPod if you send them money. Otherwise, no, they won't, any more than any other company would send you a free product to replace one that was lost or stolen.
Sorry about the theft. As B-Rock said, report it to the police and your school administration. If you had Find My iPod set up on the device (which would require a paid MobileMe subscription), you might be able to track the iPod and give that location information to the police.

Regarding the iPhone 3G, the only repair that Apple Genius does on that device is the Front Screen Replacement. So they could help you get the front assembly back on when you are done with the repair. To give you a better idea, the Genius do not even replace the battery on the iPhone 3G. Apple will not help you with this repair.

Will Apple offer a matte replacement for the Alum Macs Glossy Screen?

I bought an Aluminum iMac; and yes I love the speed etc; but the one flaw in my opinion (others might disagree) is that horrific mirror like glossy glass screen.
The glare was intolerable for anyone with an artistic eye.
I solved the problem imperfectly with a anti glare film (photodon) and its a good temp solution.
But ultimately can anyone speculate whether apple will offer a replacement matte screen? I know its easily removable; can a matte screen be added in place of the glass and still have a great display? Might they offer it as an option in the future? If not; why not?

It is simply a sheet of plate glass held in place with magnets. Supposedly it has some sort of anti-glare coating on it, but it's not apparent. You might try taking it off and bringing it to an art supply store to have them cut you an identically sized piece of anti-glare glass. I'm surprised that by this point there isn't already an after-market supplier making them for the iMac.
