Will AppleCare Plus replace a lost Lightning cable?

Just had a few questions.
- My girlfriend lost her Lightning cable to her iPhone 5c, will AC+ send her a new one or am I out of luck?
- What is size the of Lightning cable that comes with the iPhone 5s and 5c? Curious in case I need to buy a new one for her.
- Is the Lightning cable compatiable with all devices, can I use my iPhone 5s Lightning cable to charge my iPad Air and vice versa?
- What are the different sizes the Lightning cable come in? I've looked on here and Best Buy, can't seem to find an exact answer.
Thanks.

What "guy" told you this?
All package contents are included with the warranty (iPhone, power adaptor, cable, and earbuds) which is a limited manufacturer's warranty covering manufacturing defects or failures during the warranty period. All package contents are covered for the same with the AppleCare Plus warranty which extends the standard one year warranty by an additional year along with including some partial insurance with a deductible for the iPhone limited to two claims during the two year period.
The $79 fee is the deductible for when the iPhone is exchanged for accidental damage not covered under the warranty, not for the cable. If the cable damage is determined to be caused by accidental damage or abuse, there will be no exchange under warranty.

  • Will Apple replace a faulty lightning cable that was purchased separate from iPhone?

I bought an iPhone 5 along with a spare lightning cable from Apple's website in September. Since then BOTH lightning cables have failed, and there is NO sign of physical damage or abuse on either one. I called AppleCare, and they agreed to replace the one that came with the iPhone, but the senior advisor I spoke with rudely told me the one that was bought "separately" for $19 cannot be replaced, nor refund issued. I thought that it would be covered under manufacture's warranty. I've also heard rumours that if you take a faulty accessory to a genius bar they will gladly swap it out for a new one. Only problem is I don't live near an Apple Store. I was thinking about calling AppleCare back and see if I don't have better luck with a different rep. Any thoughts on this?

    From Apple's warranty page.
Your Apple-branded hardware product is warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of ONE (1) YEAR from the date of original retail purchase ("Warranty Period"). If a defect arises during the Warranty Period, Apple, at its option and to the extent permitted by law will (1) repair the product at no charge using new parts or parts that are equivalent to new in performance and reliability, (2) exchange the product with a functionally equivalent product that is new or equivalent to new in performance and reliability, or (3) refund the original purchase price. This warranty excludes damage resulting from abuse, accident, modifications or other causes that are not defects in materials and workmanship.
If you choose to call applecare, they can arrange to ship you a replacement, but you will have to agree to a "hold" on a credit card until the defective cable is received back to the factory.

  • Cracked the screen on iphone 6 plus , will applecare plus give me a new device or will they try to fix it?

Today I dropped my Iphone by accident while riding my bike and the screen cracked.
I bought AppleCare+ and was wondering if they are going to give me a new device or will they try to fix it first?

The "screen" component comprises the digitizer, display with its illumination, the front camera and the earpiece speaker. So yeah, you're covered.
AC+ covers two "accidents" within its period, so you'll have just one left.

  • Will my applecare plus plan replace the cracked screen on my iphone4?

will applecare plus replace the cracked screen of my iphone4s?

Yes, Apple handles this with a perfect Replacement iPhone 4S exactly like yours, with AppleCare+ for $49. They do not actually replace iPhone 4S screens at the Apple Store.

  • 6 plus will not charge with Lightning cable after 8.1 update

Received my phone yesterday after ordering on the second day of launch and restored from my computer backup with the Lightning cable provided in the box.  After I installed the 8.1 update over wifi, now phone does not recognize the Lightning cable.  I get the not compatible message if I plug into the phone and the other end is in free air. It now will not charge or sync with computer at all.  I tried 2 different Lightning cables with the same result. I did notice the life being sucked out of the battery after 8.1 update.  I did the reset setting trick with no luck.  I have a apt at the Apple store in a few hours.  Any thoughts?

Apple store replaced the phone and lightning cable this morning.  She said it was Hardware issues.  Well it worked fine up until I updated to 8.1 software.  The cable broke while I was removing it from the phone in front of the tech.  This afternoon I purchased a 6' lightning cable with braided jacket for under $20 bucks at Sams.  Well worth the money. The reason the cable broke was due to the small area left to grab the connector while my phone is in the Otterbox defender case I received yesterday.

  • Is the iPhone 5 lightning cable also covered under AppleCare?

My iPhone lightning cable is starting to fall apart.
I never take it anywhere. It just stays plugged in at home and all I use it for is connecting to my iPhone 5 for charging, etc. So it's definitely never been abused.
It came with my iPhone 5 which I got October of 2012, so the iPhone 5 itself is still under the 2 year AppleCare warranty. Do they cover the lightning cable too? I can't believe it has started to wear out like this just from daily plugging in.

Of course. AppleCare covers your iPhone and the accessories that came with it, including the Lightning cable. Just make an appointment at an Apple Store or reseller and take the iPhone and the cable to get it replaced for free.
Here in Japan it was even easier than that. I just had to call AppleCare and they will deliver one by express service, and pick up the old one. No need to make an appointment, or to actually go anywhere.

  • Does applecare plus cover iphone usb cable?

My husband and I both have the 4s and our cables don't always chargd the phones. We have applecare plus on them both, will that cover the cords?

    raymond73 wrote:
do the math? Sorry for asking a question!
Precisely. I am going under the assumption that Apple will consider the cable user damaged
Unless they are simply not working and are not damaged.
They may be covered even if they are simply are "worn out".
Certainly worth asking about. If Apple says they are user damaged" and not covered,  then just buy the cables.
In any case, Apple will NOT replace an iPhone unless the iPhone is actually damaged and not working correctly.
Apple will not replace iPhone simply for cosmetic damage.
Applecare+ will replace a user damaged device for a cost of $49.00
Apple will replace a user damaged iPhone (now $79, not $49).
A cable is not replaced for $49/$79
Apple will only replace a malfunctioning/non-working item. If the cable is bad, they will not replace the iPhone.

  • Does it matter if the lightning cable is plugged in but not connected to an electrical outlet? Will this drain the ipad battery?

Does it matter if the lightning cable is plugged in but not connected to an electrical outlet? Will this drain the ipad battery? We use an ipad cart at school, and some of the teachers will connect all the ipads up to the cart, but then neglect to power up the cart. The laptop with the cart has already had the battery wrecked because of this (within a two month period), and I am concerned the ipads may have an issue if this continues to happen. I need some reassurance before I make the other teachers paranoid!

ok this one is kind in the gray area for me. I say if it is plugged in to a power up cart but not plugged in to a outlet, then all is is doing is not charing, and of course lossing a charge over time in standby, not really causing any issues. User guide and apple sites say it will drain the battery life.
Important: The iPad battery may drain instead of charge if iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, to a USB hub, or to the USB port on a keyboard.
however “Battery life” means the time your iPad will run before it must be recharged.
so I think it will be ok, as long as you charge it as usaul it should be fine.
just use these links for and understanding for batteries and the ipad, of course the user guide.

  • Will incase lightning cables work with the ios7 iphone 5s

Im paranoid now that I have an iphone 5s and some of my lightning cables dont work
incase is running a sale and I wanted to know if apple supports the mfi incase lightning cables.
They are way to expensive to buy one and find out that ios7 will not allow the phone to charge

Completely depends on whether Incase have licenced from Apple the use of the lightning technology in their cables .
If they have they will work ,if not it is a cheap ripoff copy ( maybe they were unlicenced and are being dumped as they now are effectively useless )
Buy genuine Apple or  any brand that is sold on the the Apple on-line store

  • Will applecare replace my might mouse?

My mighty mouse acts really weird. It shoots around the screen all the time and the roller ball thing will go down but not up anymore. I've used different mice and they work so the problem is definitely the mouse. I've tried cleaning it a little which doesn't really help since you cant open the mouse at all. Will applecare replace my mouse?

    Hey!
Assuming your Mac is still under warranty,(one year, not the extended Applecare)I think you may just get swapped out with a new one. We've had keyboards go here at work and just had them changed. If you're out of warranty and in to your Appelcare period, there's nothing I saw that says they won't cover it(I quickly scanned this page)
    Terms & Conditions
However there is this clause of what it will not cover.....
"(xii) Defects caused by normal wear and tear or otherwise due to normal aging of the product; and...."
So you may be out of luck.
    Cheers,
    John

  • HT1665 Recently read on a deal site forum page that you can only use Apple lightning cables to charge iPads running iOS 7 or higher. Is that the case or will any 8-pin to USB cable work? Thx in advance for any helpful replies.

Recently read on a deal site forum page that you can only use Apple lightning cables to charge iPad Air or iPad Mini Retina running iOS 7 or higher. Is that the case or will any 8-pin to USB cable work? Thx in advance for any helpful replies.

Due to a lot of bad press that Apple was getting due to burnt chargers, shocked users (the electrical kind...), etc., due to the lousy third party El Cheapo brand generics, as of iOS 7 the cable must be Apple-certified before the iGadget deigns to use it for charging purposes. Unfortunately (for Apple) the old traditional USB to 30-pin cable is just that, a straight piece of wire, and can't be validated by the iGadget. But lo & behold, the new gear uses the new Lightning cable, which contains an embedded chip that CAN be validated and lousy imitations disabled from use.

4005 will appear in the recovery system hardware cause it? I have tried to replace numerous devices and cables, but still reported 4005.

The fix was to completely remove all Apple Software following guides in previous posts.
Then download and re-install latest iTunes 64-bit, making sure to Run As Administrator.
This fixed it. Now the next thing seems to be that as I move from one device to another to close and restart iTunes between each one. Treat it gently. It seems to break easily and a lot.

  • Lightning cable replacement

My lightning cable has mysteriously stopped working, It came with my ipod touch 5th generation.
I was wondering if there was a way that I could get a replacment lightning cable.
And if so how do I go about doin that?
I just sent my ipod touch 5th gen for repair cause it started doing really odd things on the display near the bottom.  It was little white squares that could be seen mostely behind light and dark greys, blacks, and blues....And would appear worse whenever it was charging.  I don't know if that had anything to do with a bad cable or not.
    I don't know

The cable is covered by the same warranty is the iPod. Y can send it back to Apple in the same manner you did for the iPod. (you use the SN for the iPod since the cable does not have a a SN)
You can also do the exchange at an Apple store.
Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • If I send in my iPhone 5 to AppleCare what will it be replaced with?

The battery on my iPhone 5 is shot, and I'm wondering since the iPhone 5 isn't produced anymore, what will it be replaced with if I send it in to AppleCare. Will it be a 5? or will it be a 5c or 5s?

Ethmoid, with due respect, I saw no point in restating THAT answer made by the venerable members - [1] stedman1 , [2] KiltedTim and [3] Niel - above
I will let you read their replies for yourself
As a former manager of a customer service / tech support shop for a niche (large niche) software product (one of my many 'careers' ), I know how to communicate with a customer at their time of "grief" - sometimes even a little levity helps as well. In this case, the true statement about a replacement phone being better than new.
