Will be full support for Pentax K-5?

Will be a full support for Pentax K-5 in Lightroom 3.4? I mean camera profiles (I don't like adobe standard).

There is full support for the this camera in 3.3.
3.4 RC is presently out, so try it and see.
If what you mean is will Adobe make any more calibration profiles other than the initial one, the Adobe standard, this is pretty unlikely. If there is a particular problem with the profile sometimes they re write them, but this is usually done following users raising problems at the RC stage.. They usually only provide extra calibrations for Canon and Nikon cameras.
Nothing to stop you using the free tools supplied by Adobe to make your own.

  • RAW support for Pentax K5 II(s)

Any idea when we will be able to see RAW support for Pentax K5 II(s)? I know I can use DNG, but not PEF currently. I am assuming for DNG, there is no dedicated camera profile yet.

    I figure:

That said, nobody here knows the answer.  Hopefully it won't be too long.

  • Characters ! ~ - * ( ) ' will be de-supported for use in identifiers ?

I received the following warning errors during a test import of an mbis EUL owned AP business area.
Here is an example :The identifier for Join 'AP Vendors -> AP Checks' contains one or more of the characters ! ~ - * ( ) ' which will be de-supported for use in identifiers in future releases of Discoverer - see release notes for more details.
The problem is that this is an EUL that was packaged with the ERP we purchased 3 years ago.
I generated an issue with the vendor but would like to know more about it from this forum.
How can this be fixed so that we don't have a problem with future releases of Discoverer.
What are identifiers exactly? They do not appear to be primary keys, yet they are unique keys in some instances ( I did not check all of the tables.)
Also, any information you can direct me to would be helpful.

I get this error message all the time when I went from 4i to 9i. I believe the message is related to the actual display name of the join which cannot contain the dash (-) like you have in the AP Vendors -> AP Checks join.
I think it might be the actual identifier if you look at the properties of the folders and items. The identifier I think is listed last and I think it contains the dash or underscores as part of the identifier name which Discoverer creates but you can most certainly change. I don't know the domino effect it will have if you change the identifier to comply with the error message. I haven't made the change yet either but imagine in the near future I would need to.

  • Support for Pentax K-5 RAW PEF wanted

Request to add support for Pentax RAW PEFs for newly released Pentax K-5. Needed much.

To send your request to Apple you really should used the "Provide Aperture Feedback" in the pulldown menu under Aperture.
This is a user to user forum where you are talking to other users like yourself and not Apple.

  • [Request] Full support for AVRCP

I just bought a 3GS and it's my first iPhone, i love it, but it does have it's limitations that many phones from the past 5+ years have.
Full support for AVRCP in 3.1 please!. I can play/pause but can't skip/prev and it's annoying since i got a S305 headset and i ride a bike and listen to music on the way to work and i want to skip a song but i can't since it isn't supported yet.

Let Apple know directly here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

  • When will Aperture have support for RAF files from the new Fuji XPro-1?

How long does it normally take to get the RAW file format updated? Fuji say they sent the file details to Apple many weeks ago. This is a camera being given fantastic reviews in all professional magazines worldwide - but I'm stuck with an Aperture folder full of "unsupported image format" files.
Really annoying as I use the full suite of Nik plug-ins so I can't do anything with these files until Aperture is updated.

Per an interview with a spokeswoman from Fuji, they have indeed provided Apple (and Adobe as well) all the needed technical information in order to support the RAW files (i.e. algorithmic information created by Fuji for the non-standar filter array, etc etc). Please don't spread any more misinformation about it, it's already been flamed to death on all the online camera forums. You can still choose to 'blame' whomever you wish about why it's still not supported by Apple, but you can no longer reasonably assert that Fuji hasn't done their part by providing them what they need. Nondisclosure agreements were signed as well.
Having said that, I find it ridiculous at this point that it's not supported, for several reasons, some being the seemingly similar Fuji users who also use Aperture as well as the opportunity here for Apple to take some market from Adobe (who as of yet are not producing very great output files for Fuji X-trans). Apple was/has been at a disadvantage to Adobe for a long while now, and being an outsider, I presumed Apple would want to take advantage of this (and any similar) opportunity to grab some share from Adobe. I was well wrong, and it seems that other lesser-known-used companies are now doing just that.
Well good on them. I for one will be looking at any/all (new)comers and will certainly be going with the best of those. Sorry Apple, you lost another one. There was a real competition, for me, btwn Aperture and LR4 up till this point. You'd have to pull a rabbit out of your hat to keep my Aperture biz.

  • Lightroom Support for Pentax K5IIs

I just purchased a Pentax K5IIs along with upgrading from LR3 to LR4, but it appears that LR4 cannot read my camera's raw files.
    Assistance would be appreciated!

While the current official version of LR is 4.2, and the check-for-update feature in the software you have installed will indicate it as up to date, there is a "release candidate" for the new 4.3 version available on Adobe Labs, often referred to as 4.3RC.
This includes explicit support for both the K-5 II and the K-5 IIs.
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/lightroom4-3/?tabID=details#tabTop
What you get with explicit support (and you will see this both with DNG and with PEF), is the benefit of Adobe's calibration of colour profiles, processing defaults etc for that particular camera. The initial position of the various adjustment sliders may still be zero, but that does not mean no processing is happening; with generic (unknown camera) DNG support such generic processing will, in my experience, not quite get the most out of the camera. Also, one may prefer to adopt (e.g.) Adobe Standard profile as the basis for editing, instead of getting no choices but "Embedded".  I don't recall exactly, but I am not sure if lens profile recognition works in this mode?
Generic DNG does not guarantee that the file will be properly used, just that it will become usable. A lot better than nothing of course.
This RC is NOT some kind of a semi-experimental Beta version, with all that entails. It can IMO be used entirely as if it were a final release, though you may prefer to increase the frequency of backup. Also be sure to retain a separate copy of your current Catalog before opening that into the new software.

  • .DNG support for Pentax K10D

Has anyone heard whether Aperture is going to support DNG for the Pentax K10D anytime in the near future?
It's a bummer not being able to just hook up the camera and go. The converter in CS2 is getting old and I'd like to be able to preview and back them up as I go.
Note: I tend to take rumors seriously...feel free to muse.

by the way, instead of asking users who actually
don't have any true insight into the Aperture
development team's agenda about support for your
camera, have you thought of sending a request through
the Aperture feedback web site? this will get the
idea in front of a lot of people who are actually
    working on the application
Camera raw stuff is not handled by Aperture, and therefore I assume also not by the Aperture team. The camera raw facilities are system wide, to the whole OS and the services are provided through the Apple Digital Camera Raw updates such as this...
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/digitalcamerarawsupportupdate101universal .html
These updates are global to OSX and provide the camera raw services to any application running under OSX. Aperture is a consumer of these services in the same way that any other application is.

  • HT3946 Aperture 3 Support for Pentax K-30 RAW?

I'm curious about when/if RAW support will be updated for Pentax K-30?
Is there a Support Page for Aperture where one can submit support requests?
    Thanks very much,
Also looking for awesome online training courses for Aperture, and RAW processing.

    Paul,
see this page for the currently available raw support:

I'm curious about when/if RAW support will be updated for Pentax K-30?
Nobody here knows the answer to this; only Apple can tell, and this is a user-to-user forum.
To submit a request, use the Aperture feedback form directly from the Aperture application menu:

  • Still no support for Pentax K20D RAW???

I could understand if the camera was just announced, or just came out last week, or even last month - but this camera has been on the market for 3 months now! C'mon Apple!
Any word about when we might see support for RAW files from Pentax/Samsung CMOS cameras in Aperture or even iPhoto? Adobe is already there...

I totally agree. PEF is matched to the new CMOS sensor and you are right, the files are considerably smaller. I really hope Apple will support PEF. I have sent feedback, but I imagine if there isn't much call for it, they won't feel it's urgent.

  • Support for Pentax K20D RAW?

The Pentax K20D employs a CMOS sensor that seems not to be supported by Aperture. I don't really know if the Pentax DNG alternative captures everything that the new sensor can deliver (that's ignorance not doubt, btw). I know the PEF format does.
Is there any way to know how soon Aperture might have native support for the new sensor used in the K20D?

    Supported cameras are listed here:
    http://www.apple.com/aperture/specs/raw.html
Apple doesn't discuss updates typically, so no ETA on if/when it will be supported. Once of the things on Aperture 2.0 was that future camera support should hopefully come more quickly, but the only way to really know is to submit feedback and wait.

  • RAW support for Pentax K3

When will Aperture RAW support be updated for Pentax K3 be added?  It's already on Adobe Lightroom....!

I my exeprience, I'd say when it's ready and not a moment sooner.
Lightroom is always pretty quick off the mark with support, but sometimes that carries a quality cost, like happened with the Fuji X100 and X-Trans sensors. Lightroom's support came out first, but Aperture's came out better.
I have a similar frustration having just bought a Sony A7. But I simply shoot raw+JPEG and use the JPEGs until the raw support is ready.
A side benefit of this approach is it makes you get to know the camera settings a little better in order to make the best JPEG.
If I have an emergency and really messed up a shot and need the raw to recover it, I use the raw converter supplied with the camera to make a better conversion in a TIFF and then add that to Aperture.

  • Camera RAW image support for Pentax K100D

    Hi,
Firstly, let me just say I have a MacBook Pro which came preloaded with Tiger. A month or so ago I upgraded to Leopard and I have applied all the available Apple software update.
I recently got a Pentax K100D digital SLR camera capable of taking images in RAW format (the pentax saves these with a .PEF file extension) and I have been trying to view these images in Leopard. I read the article below, which says that Leopard provides system-level support for the Pentax K100D camera RAW format.
*Digital camera RAW formats supported by Mac OS X 10.5*
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306835
Now, my problem is that I cannot seem to be able to open the .PEF files with neither Quick Look, Preview, iPhoto or Aperture. Basically, none of these programs seem to be able to display my .PEF files. Aperture says 'unsupported image format'.
I have installed the software that came with my Pentax (i.e. Pentax Photo Browser and Pentax Photo Laboratory) and these applications can display the .PEF images just fine. For what it's worth, I installed this software before I upgraded to Leopard.
If I right-click on a .PEF file in Finder, the only programs listed in the Open context menu are the above two Pentax applications.
So, what am I missing? Clearly something seems to be screwy in my Leopard set up. Is there some way to 'repair' the RAW image support in Leopard??
I would appreciate any help in fixing this as I would really like to start working with RAW images in Aperture and iPhoto.
Finally, just be aware that I am not an experienced Mac user. I have always used Windows until now and so... if you have a fix for this I would really appreciate a slightly more elaborate response.
    Thanks in advance,
    Eddie

I have done a little more research on this...
As it turns out, my camera is a Pentax K100D Super - not a K100D. The K100D Super is not listed as one of the supported camera RAW formats in the aforementioned article. So I guess this means that my camera is as yet unsupported. Sigh...
