Will be Re-installing Windows7 Then Re-installing iTunes

I'm having software difficulties with my Windows RAID configuration and will need to re-install Windows 7 to move out of RAID. This means that all my files and programs will need to be re-installed. Right now I have no problems with iTunes and my iPhones and iTouch. My iTunes is at the current version, 10.1.1.4 and everything is working perfectly, I have between 15-20 Apps and about 1,500 song tracks, a few of the song tracks were purchased via iTunes.
What's the best way (easiest way) to re-install iTunes? I can save my audio song tracks and whatever needed iTunes files(if necessary)since those files/folders are intact and are working properly.

Depending on how iTunes is setup for you, the iTunes music is stored in the itunes folder in the my music folder. Backup the ENTIRE itunes folder the deathorize iTunes before reinstalling windows. Deauthorize before hand to keep from using up one of the authorizations.

  • 8.1 can't shut down after installing itunes

I recently reformatted and did a clean install of window's 8.1
I have done all updates, both windows and drivers and the machine is very smooth and stable.
After installing iTunes the computer will no longer shut down, it displays the logging off / shutting down screen but then just reboots.
I have attempted numerous resolutions to no avail, i.e. disabled NIC as bootable device, disabled the hybrid boot feature & flashed and tweaked some BIOS settings.
The computer will not even shut down when I give the command "shutdown /s /t 0"
I only had Windows Office and iTunes installed on the computer and suspecting that iTunes may be the culprit, I uninstalled it and now the computer shuts down without any issue.
I have since read several threads about iTunes and shutdown/restart issues with 64 bit versions of Windows although I have not found anyone else with my exact issue.
Is anyone aware of a resolution for this?
For now I will need to install iTunes so I can sync my phone and then uninstall so I can shut down!

Fingers crossed there will be an update for this, I was lucky that my install so was new that there weren't very many things that could have caused it because I don't think it would have ever occurred to me that iTunes was the issue.
I literally tried every other possibility before waking up in the middle of the night and realizing that the problem started right after I installed iTunes.
I have had issues with Apple software in the past where I attempt to disable it from launching automatically when I boot the computer and it will simply create another entry for itself in the startup list.
If I disable that one it makes another, and another and another.... It's like the freaking Apple hydra.
The want me to know how much I need them! lol

I just went through this same process.... I changed my credit card, double checked billing info, changed my password, I restored my phone, but the misake I made was I kept restoring it from my back up.... Finally I went to Apple Store.. and sad to say that you have to do a restore, and DO NOT restore from back up.
I used Gmail so I didnt loose contacts or email.. but I did loose all my text messages and history of that.
So, I had the EXACT same problem and it was a software issue.. you have to restore your phone to factory settings and start all over.. BLOWS I know!

Again my computer will not sync with the new phone, it doesnt see the phone within my libary, doesn't give an option to do any thing with phone
Can so one please let me know were Kim going wrong, I have authorized my computer to itunes I really don't know what to do now?

Need to Resume download to complete the ongoing Process.
Last Resort, put the iPhone in DFU mode (Google How to do that). Connect in iTunes. Follow on-screen prompts to Restore. All Data would be lost, if not backed up earlier.
To save the photographs you may have to use third party software. Google is your friend.

  • Uninstalled then re-installed iTunes... What will happen to my synced iPod?

My computer had a virus and had to be totally re-done, and in the process it removed iTunes and some of my music files.
My iPod was synced to one of the playlists on iTunes.
If I reinstall iTunes, then connect my iPod to the computer, what will happen?
Will it try to sync or not?
If it does, how do I prevent it from doing that?
And if it doesn't, will it be possible to edit the songs on it?

If you lost your itunes library file (itunes library.itl in your itunes folder) when you reinstall itunes you'll probably need to reimport all your music and recreate your playlists; it will be like you just installed itunes for the first time. When you first connect your ipod itunes will ask you first if you want to sync that ipod, so you could always say 'no' and set it up to sync later.
I think when you try to sync your ipod itunes will try to remove the music files that are currently on your ipod that aren't in the itunes library - I think it will ask first and there might be an option to not delete those songs - sorry I can't remember right now. It might just delete them without asking. If you really want to avoid this there is an option to manually manage the music on your ipod but it's definitely more time-consuming.
If you lost music files from your computer that are still on your ipod, you can try this program. I had a friend who got an old ipod from his brother and used this to copy the songs onto his computer - it will only do a certain number of songs, so only do the ones that you might have lost. If you want to try this you should do it before you reinstall itunes, because when you connect the ipod itunes will automatically come up if it's installed on the computer.

    1. Save iTunes install file to your desktop.
    2. Disconnect from internet.
    3. Disable Firewall/Security software.
    4. Run install. Note that it installs Application Support and a bunch of other software this time.
    5. Run iTunes.
    6. Enable Firewall/Security software.
    7. Reconnect to internet.
    8. Download Watchmen Director's Cut post haste.

    1. Download and install WinRAR.
    2. Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe icon and choose "Open with WinRAR".
    3. Once the EXE is opened in WinRAR, double-click AppleApplicationSupport.msi and when the installer window is open choose "Repair".
    4. Done! You can now run iTunes normally.

  • IPhone stuck on connect to iTunes screen do not use iTunes or have it installed on my PCs; does anyone know of an easy fix other than updating windows then installing iTunes?  I don't have time to go through the process again and at this point will d

Hi all- I'm new to this online community of Apple support; my iPhone 5s is stuck on a screen that has the connect to iTunes icon, this started after I upgraded to IOS 8.1.1 from the beta to fixed version; I don't use iTunes and have an IPad, home PC, office PC, and Galaxy Tab, and I went through (failed) the process of installing itunes on my office PC but needed to update windows; after going through all redommendations I could find, including Apple phone support, I still haven't had success.  Does anyone know a way to get my phone past that screen?  I don't have time to keep doing updates and installation attempts;'I don't care about the content at this point; but I can't get to the settings to "reset all" and start from scratch; I bought i loud for storage and have an old 4s that has a broken screen butt still works and I have another active 4s on my plaN.  Im not tech savvy myself; but I know some community members are pure geniuses! !I just need a fast way to fix this bug;'I use it for work and it's been inaccessible all week, the only time I have to go to an Apple Store is this weekend; I don't want to move to the iphone6 because it's too big.  I didn't know this community existed; it's cool; for this issue, I just have no time for a new phone or phone support again; I'm posting this question as a last resort; any feedback is appreciated......and I apolo in advance if this post goes under the wrong thread

No. You have no alternative but to plug it into a computer running iTunes and restore it.

  • Installed itunes on xp but itunes wont open and  ouicktime will

I just bought an ipod nano for my husband and i wanted to surprise him by setting it up with his favourite tunes but i haven't been able to install itunes on my windows xp. The programme downloads but only quicktime will open. I tried to insatll an older version of itunes but when i try to open it i get as far as the contract agreement ( which i accept ) and then a window pops up stating "itunes library.itl" cannot be read because it was created by a newerversion of itunes.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the download several times but to no avail, has anyone any suggestions ??

When you get the message "itunes library.itl" cannot be read because it was created by a newerversion of itunes. - It ususally means what it says and can be fixed in the way I suggested, but it seems to be something different in your case.
Are you still getting that message when you try to open iTunes?
Just to be sure, you have no file called iTunes Library.itl in your iTunes folder? If you have Windows set not to show extensions of known file types, you would just see iTunes Library.
There is something else you might try although I haven't tried it in this situation - Hold down the shift key and start iTunes from All Programs. Keep the shift key held down and you should be prompted to create or choose a library. If it works, create a new library in your iTunes folder.
If iTunes doesn't start like that, we will have to try doing a complete removal of iTunes and reinstall. We can go though that next.

  • After I install itunes my windows 7 - 64 bit machine will not boot and I have to use Restore  to boot with a date before I installed itunes

After I install itunes on my windows 7 - 64 bit machine it will not reboot and I need to restore to a date before itunes was install.  How do I fix this?

I'm having a very similar issue, paired with iTunes not being able to get online.
iTunes shows up in processes and then hangs at 17,000 K or so -- sometimes it will start up, but that (if it occurs) is a delay of literal hours.
Pretty meticulously went through all the 'cannot connect' trouble shooting, and have uninstalled, restarted, and then reinstalled every piece of apple software; issue is just as firm. Starting in safe mode or admin mode don't fix it; signing in as a different user doesn't fix it.

  • ITUNES WILL NOT LOAD, I get an error message which tells me to re-install iTunes.tried on several occasions with same error message.

I am operating windows XP and iTunes will not open. An error message is telling me that files are missing and to reload iTunes. I tried to but error reoccurs. Tried removing the iTunes and erasing all iTunes files and re-installing but same error message occurs? Has anybody had the same problem?

    Hello Roadster44,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with reinstalling iTunes.  I recommend following the steps below:
    1. Remove iTunes and related components from the Control Panel
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order. Then, restart your computer:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components, may have unintended affects. If you encounter an error while uninstalling, try repairing the affected component:
    2. Verify iTunes and related components are completely uninstalled In most cases, removing iTunes and its related components from the Control Panel will remove all supporting files belonging to those programs. To fully resolve these issues, manually remove any remaining iTunes-related folders listed below. On 32-bit and 64-bit systems:On 64-bit systems:
    3. Reboot your computer.
    4. Download the iTunes installer. When prompted to select what you want to do, choose to save it to your computer.
    5. Install iTunes.
Right click on iTunesSetup or iTunes64Setup.
Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8: Select the 'Run as administrator' option.
Windows XP: Select the Open option.
    Finish installing iTunes.
It is important to uninstall iTunes and the related components in the order listed in the first step.

iTunes 11.2.2 for Windows x64 will not successfully install.  Removed prior iTunes, and still will not install. 10.7 installs just fine, but constantly asks to upgrade to 11.2.2.  Any Thoughts?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
The section Install missing components has advice on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if one component won't install normally.
If needs be, the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility (MS Installer "Fixit") may be able to help force through the installation.
