Will Blu-ray be an option for Ideapad U series?

Considering an Ideapad U series, but want to have the option to go Blu-ray either now or relatively soon.  Does anyone know if the graphics will support it and if this will be an option?
Thank you.
p.s.  I did ask the chat support on the Lenovo site the same question and they could not answer it.

Can't really get you.
You ask for Blu-ray (which definately will be an option for models that have DVD-ROMs inside) but then you mean graphics? What are you exactly asking about? If you're asking if videocards are powerfull enough to handle 1080p H264, answer is positive - all new videocards have decoding options for that. Be sure - every model ending *30 (for example, U330) will handle HD-video without a whistle.
I'm not a native speaker and for that can take something wrong.

  • Upgrade to Blu-Ray Optical DVD-RW for HP DV-5

Ok, thanks to MumboDog my hard drive issues are fully resolved.  Thanks MumboDog.  Now my next question is I've been having problems with the button not opening my optical drive.  I can bypass the button with the paper clip trick, but who wants to carry a paper clip with them?
So I was wondering if I could remove this drive and install a blu-ray optical dvd-rw for the HP DV-5?  Anyone have suggestions on where to buy, model no., or any suggestions as to a temporary fix to my current situation.  By the way, the drive shows up in the BIOS but its currently not reading any cd's or dvd's.  Could I be missing a driver?  I did install the LightScribe drivers, got all current updates and installed Windows 7.
Thanks in advance for any and all of your thoughts and suggestions.

Use device manager to uninstall the DVD drive, reboot and let windows reinstall it automatically, see if it works now.
The problem with upgrading optical drives in notebooks is the the tray bezel is unique to each model, and some are not removeable so you cannot transfer it to the new drive.
I use to buy generic optical drives from electronics retailers to replace broken ones in notebooks, take the old bezel off and transfer it to the new one, this way it looks like it belongs on the notebook like the original, but I have noticed they are no longer removeable on some models, so if you want it to look right you need to order it from HP.

  • Blu Ray EASY EXPORT option in new FCP 7

Would love to hear from anyone who has tried the new feature Easy Export in FCP 7 upgrade for Intel Macs, particularly the Blu Ray burning export from within FCP 7 to Blu Ray Disc. What is the quality (limits) and do we finally have actual Chapter Marker Options, and truely custom background / menu image options? I'm considering finally giving up on my PowerPC G4, and going with a new Intel based Mac, or wait a little longer if this upgrade is not worth it.
I'm currently burning Blu Rays with Toast 10 and a LaCie BD Drive with great results.

Some details on what is new, there is a link for the movie for sharing
http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/whats-new.html, also a link for a PDF about in depth (page 55 indicates you can use third party templates or your own. Someone mentioned it is XML based, but not sure if anyone has given it a whirl yet. I ordered my upgrades when it was announced, should have it soon, don't know when I will try though.

Your answer may be in those two sentences. Not sure which version of Final Cut and the rest you are running, and disregarding the blu-ray issue for a moment, if you system is working for you, and you are getting good results, that is one thing in favor of not changing right now. If the total of all the changes in the Studio are appealing, then perhaps it would be worth it. Right now you are burning blu-ray with results you like.
Alot of it depends on budget and the rest. Plus the new Intel will smoke in terms of speed and workflow. OTH, if those things are not jamming you up, well, maybe holding would be the prudent move. (Though of course the incremental change in the machine configuration would be something to make your head spin....:) )

  • Blue Ray Project done - time for SD

Ok I have fininshed my Blue Ray projct and made my iso. Stupid question time. Can I go to project settings and change the project to DVD to make my SD or should I start a brand new project? Thank you.

I have not done this, and what we see here in the forums are examples of problems trying to do this.
But Adobe has designed the Encore project settings to do just this.
If you have popups or multipage menus, they will not work in DVD, and this reduces the chances of your saving time rather than just doing a new DVD project.
If not, I would do a final "Save" of the BD project, change the project settings to DVD, do a "Save As" (to try to protect the BD version) into a new directory and with a new name for your DVD project, confirm the menu settings are 16:9, check the DVD transcode settings, set the build to DVD and the output to folder or image (for testing), and see what you get.
Is anyone using the same project successfully going from BD to DVD? Are there other steps to cover?

  • Please Suggest a Compatible Internal Blu Ray Burner to buy for PE13 with Windows 7

Can anyone tell me brands and models of currently sold internal Blu ray burners that are compatible with Premiere elements 13 using Windows 7? The list on the Adobe website seems to be outdated models. So far I have tried the Pioneer BDR-2209 and the LG WH16NS40 and both are recognized as drives by PE 13  but display "media not present" when a Blu Ray disc is inserted.  I need to be able to burn blue ray discs from my PE 13 software. Which model internal drives are you having success with? Thank you!!!

    thefosters6
    Premiere Elements 13 Windows 7 64 bit.
I have been using a LG Blu-ray DVD burner (12X) successfully for Premiere Elements 4 through 13. But, as far as I know, this brand/model is no
    longer sold.
The "Media Not Present" issue is not unique to Premiere Elements 13, and I question whether one fix or suggested burner is a universal solution.
Suggestions before buying any more burner for this purpose...
    1. Explore other brand/type Blu-ray discs
    2. Uninstall Premiere Elements 13 (usual Control Panel way), do a free ccleaner run through CCleaner - Download
and the reinstall the program with the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled.
If "2" does not work, then delete the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file found
    Local Disc C
    Users
    Owner
    AppData
    Roaming
    Adobe
    Premiere Elements
    13.0
and in the 13.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete. If that does not work, then delete the whole 13.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists. Be sure to be working with Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives active so that you can see the complete path cited.
    3. If all else fails (or before doing all of the above), determine if the Burn To: ISO Image works for Blu-ray.
You can take that ISO Image and get it to Blu-ray disc using a program such as ImgBurn. (Install ImgBurn with great care
since it comes with "baggage of carry along programs" if you do not make the right choices in the download and install.)
Please review and consider the above. Right now, finding the one size fits all Blu-ray player in your specific computer environment may prove
    frustrating.

  • Premiere Elements 9 - blu-ray insufficient disc space for burning

    Hi
I have just upgraded to PE 9 with the hope that it would have less problems than 7 - it appears I am wrong
Having got over the "chapter overflow" problem I am now faced with a new one that i cannot find a thread for.
I have a video that is 2 hours 45 min long.
I want to burn it to blu-ray.
I select "fit contents to available space" the program reduces the size to 23.3Gb BUT does not remove the warning so i cannot do the burn.
I have successfully burnt 2 Blu-ray discs where the content did not need to be made smaller.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thank you
    Michael

The file is to big for the disc, but that is why the fit content to available space tick box is there.
It does show that the size will be reduced and what the new reduced bit rate will be.
The problem is that the error message does not remove it's self so the burn button does not activate.

  • Pioneer BDR-101A Blu-ray burner now available, for just $999

Is this blue ray/ hd dvd worth the money! They say it can burn hd dvd and blu-ray dvds. Please give me your thoughts?

No, not worth the money at this point, but it's not aimed at people who are looking for value. Right now it is the ultimate earlier adopter toy.
I'd love one so I could finally burn footage from my Hi-Def camcorder, but the price tag is just too steep, when I'm sure it will be $500 in six months or $250 in a year. I'm happy to just wait a bit longer. My footage isn't going anywhere.

  • The blue ray menu not working for Adobe Premiere Eelemnts 13

Hi , I bought Adobe Premiere Elements 13 while and when I using the software to create a Blue Ray disc, the final disc is not function at all after write. I have the same problem in Adobe Premiere Elements avuto 12. I try to use the software on the another computer and I have the same problem. Another problem is that the software writes up to 70% not 100% of the disk to create a Blue Ray Disc. Does anyone have any idea how I can solve these problems? How can notify the Adobe software on these issues? Thank you.

    DVi
    Thanks for the reply.
    1. You say that you are using the Quality area with check mark next to "Fit contents to Available Space", but what are the readings there
for Space Required and Bitrate when you have your Blu-ray disc in the burner tray and you have Status = Ready in the burn dialog?
What capacity disc are you using - BD-R 25 GB or BD-RE DL 50 GB?
    2. I understand that you have Premiere Elements 7 and can create a Blu-ray disc format with disc menus on Blu-ray disc with it. Is 7 on the same computer as 13 and using the same burner and disc?
    Did I understand correctly
    a. You can create the Premiere Elements Blu-ray disc format on Blu-ray disc WITHOUT menus and you have no problems with playback on your player, but you cannot do that if you include the disc menus?
If that is the case, what specific disc menu are you using? And, how many Timeline menu markers have you placed on the Timeline beforehand?
How many main menu pages and how many scene selection pages results as a result?
On the Blu-ray format on Blu-ray disc with disc menus that are failing, is the preference for Intel HD Graphics 2000 and Higher enabled or disabled?
If your Timeline content will be generating a Blu-ray ISO Image greater than 1 GB, there can be more problems. Please see

Please review the above and supply the details mentioned, and then we can decide on a troubleshooting plan.

  • Is there Any Blu-Ray Media player out for Mac?

    hello everyone,
I just recently installed Pioneer BDC-202 Optical drive, which I ordered from OWC. It does come with a installation Disc, but not for Mac. I mean everything works, but I can't seem to get the Blu-ray Movies to work? Why is that? Is it because of the non supporting media player? I mean I can't seem to find it anywhere on the web. Is it because its not available yet? If not when are they making it available? I mean it would suck to spend 200 dollars on an internal Blu-ray disc player in hoping to watch some high quality movies. I think OWC should not have it available for sale on a Mac site when it doesn't have any supporting programs out there to make the darn thing work.

It's not clear if the nvidia 8800GT is HDCP. See: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7442757 .
My monitor (a Gateway XHD3000 30" display) is HDCP compliant, so I was wondering myself if the nvidia card is. Fortunately, not too big a deal for me, since I don't plan on watching protected movies in my sytem (I have a 52" LCD and 100" projection).

  • Generated file to burn blu ray; all good except for...

I generated a .mov file last night (about 7Gb) for my video and burned it (via Toast 10) to a blu ray disk. No problems. went smooth.
except i watched it this am... and after 1.5 minutes, the audio is out of sync with the video (audio is ahead by at least 6 seconds). I haven't yet gone back to the .mov file i made to verify that it's in there too, but i'm guessing that it is.
the ONLY thing i did that i don't normally do (shame on me) is that i turned on "turn on de-interlacing". I don't normally do that but i figured what the heck... would this cause that?
    thanks
    Dennis

Well, much to my surprise, the export file is fine. in perfect sync. the ONLY other thing i can think of is when i was burning the blu ray disk, i did do some printing off of the same machine.. i wonder if that stole some cycles and threw off the sync.. .does that make any sense?
at this point, i guess i'll try it again and make sure that nothing else is going on when i burn the disk.
for your info, my settings are: HDV720p30, key frames every 24frames, data rate restrict to 6400 kbits/sec, size is HD 1280X720. as i said, i had "de-interlace" on, but i'll turn it off this time, and make sure that nothing else is running including time machine, printing, etc..

  • Help me watch HBO GO on my tv using iMac running Lion, wi-fi blu-ray, and/or Xbox for really cheap

    Here's my setup:
iMac 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    3GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
I use my iMac as my wi-fi router
    Lion 10.7.4
    iPhone 4S
    LG LCD tv
    LG BD570 blu-ray w/ wi-fi
XBOX 360 (I do *not* have the XBOX Gold membership)
Comcast is my cable provider and I am an HBO subscriber
I suspect I can just hook up the iMac to the tv...but the iMac and the tv are rooms apart, so that's not going to happen. I also know that if I had the XBOX gold membership I could use that, but that's $60 and I don't want to pay that much. I also know a Roku would work, but again, I'd prefer not to have to spend $$ if possible.
I thought I had found a solution in PlayOn, but then realized it only works on Windows machines.
Can anyone recommend a way for me to access HBO GO on my tv using any of the above components? Thanks!

Use a dedicated device like a Roku, once you hook it up it's done.
Cheapest way possible, all others is more money and time spend trying to get it to work and it won't 100%.

  • When Windows 8 comes out, will there be an upgrade option for current TouchSmart owners?

I just read a little bit about Windows 8 and noticed it was a very touch oriented OS. Once HP adapts their TouchSmart line to this new OS, will they offer a way for current owners to upgrade to Windows 8 and the (presumably) new TouchSmart software?

  • Blu Ray yet for DVD Studio Pro?

I haven't asked recently about burning Blu Ray discs in a new version
of DVD SP, so here I am asking again: Has anyone heard any scuttlebutt
about a possible upgrade of DVD SP 4 to allow to burn HDV FCP QT movies
to Blu Ray discs? Toast 10 has been working fine for me so far, but curious
if Apple has hinted at changing their minds and endorsing Blu Ray as an
    option?

I do bet my business on it. But by the sme token, having a business means making sure you have back-ups and rotating hard drives also. I had some of the first CDs ever made, and many of them are failing, even some of the more recent ones from the mid-1990s. And these do not include the burn your own.
Blu-ray as a storage method makes no sense to me personally. Right now they each hold 25 Gigs (as you said), which means 40 of them - or $280 - for one Terrabyte. You can get 2 1.5 terrabyte drives for $200 and they will take up alot less room than 40 blu-ray discs.
I would bet neither hard drives or blu-ray will be around in 20 years, and if I was going to bet, it will be alot shorter than that. It will be SSD, Compact Flash, downloads and whatever follows. blu-ray and DVD will be like my Zip drives, Jaz drives or VideoDiscs.
If anyone has a business that deals with media storage where it is important, I would steer them away from DVD/blu-ray and tell them to get a good RAID 1 external, with automatic mirroring, three hard drives and rotate them with one copy off-site. There are enclosures where they a popped in and out like floppies and you store them in something similar to a VCR case.
    Like I said, YMMV.
