Will boot camp run windows XP on a Mac book pro retina
Will boot camp run windows XP on a Mac book pro retina
No. The newest Mac OS X version capable of setting up Windows XP or Vista in Boot Camp is 10.6.8, which is too old for that Mac model.
You may be able to use it inside a product such as VirtualBox, Parallels Desktop, or VMware Fusion.

Does Boot Camp support Windows 8.1 Update 1?
Now that the update is out is it safe to update Windows 8.1 to the Update 1 (since it's mandatory) or does Boot Camp yet not support it?
Confirmed... no problems.. install took a long time... but all is well.

Same as topic.
Windows 8.1 is not yet supported. It may work or you may have the odd driver issue.

Boot camp support for windows 7 /2009. Now will be released when ready 2010
Boot camp support end of year 2009 has now been revised to the following
Apple is working to support Microsoft Windows 7 (Home Premium, Professional, and Ultimate) with Boot Camp in Mac OS X. This support will require a software update to Boot Camp that we plan to release as soon as it's ready. And they ain't sayin nothin like Charlie Brown's teacher - waa waa waa waa waa.
Actually let me translate:
"We are incompitent and inept. We are working as slow as possible given our distain for Microsoft. Even though we have the resources to develop these drivers in a few weeks, we are going to drag our feet hoping to frustrate our customers into using OS X even though half the software out there does not run on our OS. We are sorry you are a premium customer willing to pay more than anyone else for a laptop and you did so for customer service and quality. Unfortunately, we are going to totally ignore you on this issue". -
Boot camp and windows 7 but window wont find usb to download support drivers
Used Boot Camp to partition, downloaded support onto USB zip drive, installed Windows 7 fine I thought, but in Windows 7 now it will not find my USB so i can't download the support drivers from my zip drive back into Windows. No internet found either (probably because i can't download the support drivers). HELP QUICKLY please!!!
Boot Camp in Windows has nothing to do with Boot Camp in OS X. So, there was no need for you to reinstall Leopard.
Since you're using Leopard, your Leopard disc will have the 2.xx drivers, which, (apparently) will not install in Windows 7.
You'll need to get a hold of the 3.0 drivers. The 3.1 update downloaded from the Apple site won't install without 3.0 drivers installed. -
apple said that it will have boot camp support for windows 7 before the end of this year.. almost 9 days til the end of the year and still no update. anyone knows anything about that ?
Thanks for the suggestion but I've already tried this - there was even a thread which suggested that I uninstall keyboard & mouse in OSX and then reboot in W7 and install the devices ther first (the rationale being that somehow OSX "reserved" the devices if installed there first, but that the converse was not true for W7). However, it didn't work!.
Just to clarify, Wireless keyboard & mighty mouse still work flawlessly in OSX. They appear on the blootooth device list in W7, but there are no related items showing in the services tab in the properties of each - and I've tried many suggested workarounds.
As for my installation, sound worked perfectly with no tweaking - I've seen threads saying that installing latest Realtek drivers can cure the problem!
Everyone seems to have different compatibility issues with what superficially seems to be the same hardware and software (obviously it isn't!) Maybe that's why Apple are having so much difficulty with the revised drivers, and maybe now folks will apreciate how difficult it must be for Microsoft who have to make Windows work with many hardware combinations. -
What is the correct boot camp support driver for late 2009 Macbook for windows 8.1
I have late 2009 Macbook with OS X 10.9.4. I want to run boot camp for windows 8.1, but unable to due to the fact that it can only run Windows 7. What is the correct Boot Camp Support Software so that I can run Windows 8.1?
Thanks for the info, but unfortunately there is no current support software or update for my issue at this time. I found the information under Boot Camp: System requirements for Microsoft Windows operating system. Hopefully Apple will fix this issue promptly!

Windows 8 Boot Camp support software
Good day, I have installed Windows 8 successfully on my Macbook, [OS X Mountain Lion] using Boot Camp assistant. When I got to the step to install the Boot Camp Support software with the CD I created during installation through bootcamp, a pop up message appeared: "This version of Boot Camp is not intended for this computer model." I am stuck in Windows at the moment, there is no way to restart in Mac OS X now, I have tried the hold down the option key while restarting too, it doesn't work.
1. how can I get to restart in Mac again?
2. where can I download the correct Boot Camp support software for this computer for Windows 8? [macbook pro with retina display; OS X Mountain Lion]
thanks

Reboot, hold the X key when you hear the chime, hold it until the computer starts to boot in OSX

Windows 8 is not yet supported, there are no drivers, wait for them or use Windows 7. -
I forgot to back-up my information (pictures, excel documents) on MAC before installing boot camp and Windows. I am mid-way through the process, at the point where I need to install the drivers. Will i be able to retrieve my documents on MAC and finalizing the Windows 7 installation (for the 1st time) or not?
I am worried that may lose my information... Appreciate any feedback! Note: already half-way in the process of installing!Yes, IF you picked the right partition, as in the Boot Camp partition. If everything is done right you should be able to boot into the Mac side.
If you already booted into Windows and are at the point of installing the Boot Camp Drivers your already done installing Windows! Yea! All you need to do is just install the drivers and everything should work normal.
The Windows partition and the Mac partition are seen as two different HD's now as far as the computer knows.
You can use the Boot Camp control panel in Windows to boot into the Mac side and the Startup Disk in System Preferences on the Mac to switch to Windows. If you can't then press and hold down the Option key untill you get the boot screen. -
Boot Camp supporta solo l'installazione di Windows a 64 bit su questa piattaforma. Usa un'unità USB o DVD con Windows a 64 bit.

I need to know which update(s) I can apply to help stabalize the system.
Typing the body of the thread message in the title, huh? -)
I am working on a MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2009) with boot camp running Windows 7 pro 64-bit. Windows crashes quite often now-a-days and I need to get this fixed. I heard that updating boot camp can help. Currently I am running Version 3.0.4 (322).
Only Apple could hamstring and tie Mac OS to Windows. There isn't any other than whether you can download the drivers into Windows (you can) but Apple puts a block on the installer setup even if your mac does not support it.
Windows 7 needs at least Boot Camp 3.1 and 3.3 is what you should already have. And you are not getting security updates if you don't have at least 10.6.8 as was pointed out. --- you arent using Software Update as you should. And you should backup and clone Mac (and Windows) as well.
You need Mountain Lion to use Boot Camp 5.x which supports Windows 7 & 8 and 64-bit.
I would upgrade to Lion if you can realizing that Rosetta and PowerPC are no longer supported though.

Is there a download of the Boot Camp 5 Support Software if I'm not using OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.3?
Yes, you can download the Boot Camp 5 Support Software here.

How do I use the Boot Camp 5 Support Software I downloaded from the web page?
The download file is a .zip file. Double click it to uncompress it.
Double-click the Boot Camp disk image.
Copy the Boot Camp and "$WinPEDriver$" folders to the root level of a USB flash drive or hard drive that is formatted with the FAT file system (see question below for steps on how to format).
Install Windows, leaving the flash or hard drive attached to the USB port of your Mac.
Installation of the drivers can take a few minutes. Don't interrupt the installation process. A completion dialog box will appear when everything is installed. Click Finish when the dialog appears.
When your system restarts your Windows 8 installation is done.
Note: If the flash drive or hard drive was not attached when you installed Windows and was inserted after restarting into Windows 8, double-click the Boot Camp folder, then locate and double click the "setup.exe" file to start the installation of the Boot Camp 5 Support Software.
How do I format USB media to the FAT file system?
Use Disk Utility to format a disk to use with a Windows computer. Here's how:
Important: Formatting a disk erases all the files on it. Copy any files you want to save to another disk before formatting the disk.
Open Disk Utility.
Select the disk you want to format for use with Windows computers.
Click Erase, and choose one of the following from the Format pop-up menu:
If the size of the disk is 32 GB or less, choose MS-DOS (FAT).
If the size of the disk is over 32 GB, choose ExFAT.
Type a name for the disk. The maximum length is 11 characters.
Click the Erase button and then click Erase again.
Which versions of Windows are supported with Boot Camp 5?
64-bit versions of Windows 8 and Windows 7 are supported using the Boot Camp 5 Support Software. If you need to use a 32-bit version, you need to use Boot Camp 4 Support Software, and you must use Windows 7. 32-bit versions of Windows 8 are not supported via Boot Camp. For a complete list of Windows OS support, click here. -
