Will buying a charger compatible with your macbook air from ebay have any short/long term adverse effects on it? are they apple authorised?

Just trying to save $50 over the 1.7k in 2012, just dont want to destroy the thing at that cost!

No, the cable that comes out of the adapter that connects to the laptop is severed lol its like bended and the metal inside is showing. I know, just got a good source of feedbacks on amazon, a few said it stopped working. I just want to know if it'll do any damage to your laptop other than itself? I don't care if it stops working, I just don't want anything to happen to my laptop.
'owned 3 of them' :| I hope its a long time before I have to get another 2 Most sad thing is how I feel without it, you know you're a robot when you can't do anything without a laptop, using my old Toshiba now. Let not get philosophical anyways
It got destryoed after me carrying it with a full bag to uni. I recommend not just throwing it in your bag but wrap it around properly, it must've been in that position to get bended like that

Trouble with slow Macbook Air. I have first generation MacBook Air and have a hard time keeping hard drive from being full. After trashing many docs, I have almost 5 gigs available, but mac is slow and I keep getting color wheel when I use Mail. I'd like to install Lion, but now I'm afraid it will slow down my machine even further. Do I have enough free hard disc space? Is Mail problem related to free hard disc space? Thanks for your help!

7gb of free disc space is required to install Lion.  Read this about how to free up disc space: http://pondini.org/OSX/DiskSpace.html.  Also, advice on how to speed up your mac: http://www.maclife.com/article/feature/25_ways_speed_your_mac

  • Is the magsafe 85W compatible with my macbook pro from 2006?

I've got a MacBook Pro from 2006 - MacBook Pro 2.2 Intel Core 2 Duo and my magsafe that has worked fine all this time is finally giving up on me.
Searching for a replacement have brought me this info from Apple:
"If you  receive a replacement MagSafe adapter with a "L" style MagSafe connector  when you previously had a "T" style MagSafe connector, the "L" style  adapter is fully compatible with your Apple computer."
While this site - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2346 -  seems to indicate that I need to use a T-shaped connector..
Does it matter whether I get a T- or an L-shaped connector?
Any help or suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

Happy Holidays to you and your family.

  • External hard drives compatible with 2008 macbook air

Does anyone have advice on the best external hard drives currently available for the 2008 MacBook Air?

While most any external drive may work, the Toshiba Canvio USB 3.0 drives have generated quite a few threads on this board with people having problems in getting them to mount. While some cludgy work-arounds have been useful to some, I think the best one is just to avoid the drives until Toshiba works out the compatibility problems.

  • Use of 802.11 ac wifi with my MacBook Air from end of 2010

Is it possible to upgrade my MacBook Air (from end of 2010) with an adapter for 802.11 ac? I want to use it with a new AirPort Time Capsule.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Your AirPort card does not allow you to use 802.11ac. However, you can buy a Wi-Fi adapter that supports 802.11ac, so you can connect to your new AirPort Time Capsule through 802.11ac.
Note that this is not necessary, and that most users will not note any difference between 802.11ac and 802.11n, which is the connection that your Mac will use to connect to your AirPort Time Capsule through the internal AirPort. Also, note that you will need a driver for the Wi-Fi adapter

  • Will this memory be compatible with my macbook pro?

Hi, I am in need of a good ram for my MacBook Pro (2011, 2.3 i5)
I've checked amazon and saw this.
    http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-DDR3-Laptop-Memory-CMSO8GX3M2A1333C9/dp/tech-data/ B002YUF8ZG/ref=de_a_smtd
Will this be compatible with my mac?

RAM has specifications, you need to carefully match the specifications exactly and buy your RAM from a reliable source as to get the highest quality.
Just like most Merceedes only take high grade fuel, a Mac only prefers high quality RAM.
It's rather risky opening a Mac, damage to the screws and other things can occur on some models, so to reduce this possibility (and having to ship bad RAM back) you should choose a highly reliable vendor with tested top tier RAM.
You should also know exactly how to take the right steps to install RAM, wear anti-static protection, disconnect the power and other measures to safely install your RAM correctly the first time!
Many people buy RAM without realizing there is a slot limitation.
If they have 1.5 GB and two slots, they foolishly buy another 512MB RAM module to try to attain 2GB, when they actually need another 1GB module.
So with that I give you a link, I get no compensation, just use their "evaluator" to make sure you get the RIGHT RAM for your make and model of machine. If you don't want to buy from them that's perfectly fine, just get the right specs right the first time.

  • Can you use iPhone ear buds microphone with your MacBook Air?

If you use your ear buds to listen to your Facetime conversations, are also using the microphone on them to talk?

Yes you can. Any headset compatible with the iPhone works just fine for full duplex conversation on a MacBook Air of current design. The microphone and earphones are simultaneously active.

Never seen the term exFAT in a post previously - is that an enhanced version of FAT32?
Yes it is. Here's an abstract from this Microsoft KB page
The exFAT file system is the successor to FAT32 in the FAT family of file systems. The exFAT file system is a new file system format that addresses the growing needs of mobile personal storage on different operating systems. The exFAT file system handles large files, such as those that are used for media storage, and it enables seamless interoperability between desktop computers and devices, such as portable media devices. Because of this functionality, you can easily copy files between the desktop and external devices or between the desktop and other operating systems.

  • I can't install Lion on my macbook Air 'cause i have any cluster damaged.. Any help ?

I've tried to install lion on my MBA but i can't select the internal Hdd cause there are any cluster damaged and the Os can't select that drive. How can I do to solve this problem ?

You need to boot from your install disk or thumb drive (turn the computer on while holding down the "C" key). It will look like you are reinstalling the operating system. Look at the menu bar, you will see Utilities. Can't remember the exact menu path, but you are looking for Disk Repair or Repair Disk. Select your bad drive and chances are pretty good the software will repair the drive. Then reboot normally and your install will likely work. If not, it's off to the Genius Bar.

  • How do you play clash of clans on your backbook air if you have iphone or ipad?

Hi was wondering how you can play clash of clans on your macbook air?
i have tried many things to play it. but how come we can not play it or how we can play it on macbook instead of playing on ipad or not?
    please let me know

Mac computers have a different operating system than the iPad. Applications programmed for one will not run on the other, although some software developers make two very similar versions where one will run on each operating system. Clash of Clans has made versions for iOS and Android but not for the Macintosh or Windows computers.
