Will CS4 components work alongside CS3 ?

Presently I have "Design Premium CS3" with the following software components:
- Acrobat 8 Professional
- Device Central CS3
- Dreamweaver CS3
- Encore CS3
- Extension Manager CS3
- Extended Script Toolkit 2
- Bridge CS3
- Adobe Flash CS3 Professional
- Adobe Flash CS3 Video Encoder
- Adobe Illustrator CS3
- Adobe InDesign CS3
- Adobe Life Cycle Designer CS3
- Adobe OnLocation CS3
- Adobe Photoshop CS3
- Adobe Premier Pro CS3
I'm thinking of upgrading to "WEB Premium CS4" for now and later adding Adobe Premier Pro CS4.
My question will CS4 work with CS3 version like Adobe Premier Pro CS3?
Thank you in advance for your input.
Cheers,
Michael

Quick Question...I just started using cs3....Would cs4 benefit me in any way..I only use it for website template design?

  • Upgrade CS4 to CS5 - Will CS4 Still Work?

    I have CS4 Web Premium on a Windows Vista X64 machine. I have downloaded trial of CS5 Web Premium and everything seems to work fine (i.e. both versions are running on this computer and seem to work fine).
    My question is: If I upgrade to CS5, will CS4 still work?
    The main reason I ask is that I have onOne software Plug-in suite 4.5 running on Photoshop CS4. onOne is charging $149 to upgrade to a version that works on CS5. I still want to be able to use onOne, but, at this point, not enough to pay their upgrade price.
    I appreciate anyone that can offer some input.
    Thanks, Wayne

    Bob,
    I guess my real question was what would happen to CS4 when I activated CS5. Considering the licensing practices of software companies today, I wasn't sure. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

  • Will Steady State work alongside a proxy server

    HI All
    I have a proxy server set-up and currently used local GPO to set the proxy settings and the restrict the users from changing the settings.. I would now like to install steady state to lock down the pcs even more. however, it seems on
    the users i apply the steady state settings to the proxy doesn't get used.
    Surely there is a way to apply proxy settings and use steady state!!!
    Thanks

    Hi laythinqy, it seems not a better way of Windows Steadystate to work alongside a proxy server. Anyway, thank you for your method for this thread to us.

  • Will a CS4 file work in CS3?

    I have a school assignment and I only have CS4 at home, where as in school CS3 is available. If I save the file as CS3, will it work perfectly fine at school?

    yes.

  • Will CS4 Photoshop work as a stand alone app. with CS3 Design Premium?

    I am financially stuck with my Power PC G5 and Leopard 10.5.8 but want to be able to process raw files from newer cameras that are not supported
    by Leopard. I realize I could either use Canon software to process or turn photos into DNG files but neither option works for me.
    I just don't want to throw away money on C4 Photoshop if that version is full of bugs and won't interface with CS3 Bridge.
    Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

    there is one, just search with spotlight "Calculator".
    It works great!
    Hope this helps.

  • Will CS4 Crash less then CS3?

    CS3 is a huge disappointment to me. It crashes every 5 minutes when I use brushes. I spent may hours/days troubleshooting and asking questions on this site, and even did a fresh install of the OS and PS on an eight core Mac Pro with 8GB of RAM. I think I narrowed it down to mostly being caused by my favorite brush, the one I use 90% of the time. I have noticed the problem on as many as four different computers. Although not as frequent, CS3 also crashes when not using that brush. So I have resigned myself to the fact that CS3 is useless to me. It is frustrating to paint and then loose a chunk of your work to a crash, especially when CS2 is as stable as a rock.
    Although I am not holding my breath, I was wondering if CS4 will be more stable? Or will I be wasting money again to upgrade?

    >> I think I narrowed it down to mostly being caused by my favorite brush, the one I use 90% of the time...CS3 also crashes when not using that brush.
    You should be sending all your crash reports in as they are generated.
    Adobe would probably be interested in receiving your custom brush (like they are with receiving any fonts or plugins that cause problems).
    If you have Apple Care, call them and make a case number in case you do have bad hardware. Apple can call up all the crash reports you sent them. Adobe can probably do the same thing.
    >> did a fresh install of the OS and PS on an eight core Mac Pro with 8GB of RAM
    If you did that correctly, stop right there and get help to debug the problem because once you move past that point the install becomes suspect and it is nearly impossible to make a valid point (I would start with Apple engineers since you are having stability problems and they are obligated to help you rule out the OS and Apple hardware).
    I can tell you not everyone has been rock solid on 10.5x and Mac Pros and CS3 and CS4 -- so get in touch with the people who can help you...customer service reps are likely not going to be able to help with bad hardware or bugs so insist nicely on upper support if you are not reasonably communicating.

    How exactly does PS crash, what error messages?

  • Will CS4 Extended work with Intel Core 2 Duo?

    Considering purchasing a CS4 Extended for my OS X v10.4.11 with Intel Core 2 Duo, but reading here I need a multicore Intel processor...
    There's no way I could make it work with my processor at all?

    Since it says it will run on a G5 I imagine it would run on your newer Intel Mac.  I think that's what the "Duo" means - multi core.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Core#Core_Duo

  • Do CS4 swatches work in CS3?

    Easy question for y'all today!  I'm making some pattern swatches in CS4 and giving them to artists using CS3.  Do I have to save it as a CS3, or because it's not technically an Illustrator file (well, technically it is, but you know what I mean), rather a swatch palette, will it matter that it was created in CS4?
    Thanks

    I don’t know what you mean. The swatch file is a full-on, sho-nit, dot-ay-eye Illustrator file. Save as CS3.

  • Will CS4 scripts work with CS6?

    I currently (still) use InDesign CS4 and I am thinking about getting CS6 (using the Cloud). However, I use a LOT of scripts and I wonder if I can keep on using that scripts or not...

    Um...
    Peter, that's really bad advice. That'll make any subsequent script which relies on CS5 or later features not work.
    Either you should wrap that in a try/catch/finally, or use version folders.
    Approach 1:
    try{
    app.scriptPreferences.version = 6;
    // your script
    }catch(err){
         throw err;
    } finally{
    app.scriptPreferences.version = parseFloat(app.version);
    Approach 2:
    Create a folder in your scripts panel called "Version 6.0 Scripts", and place the script in that subfolder.

  • Does the Calendar extension pack 2.0.6 work in CS3 or CS4?

    I downloaded the Calendar extension pack 2.0.6 from the Dreamweaver exchange site and installed it in CS4 with no success. Can't find it anywhere and its supposed to be in Server behaviours > Dreamlettes > ASP Events Calendar
    Did the same in CS4 - same result.
    Does anyone know if it is compatible with either of these two products?
    If it is not, can anyone advise a suitable FREE simple events calendar for use in asp that will work in CS3 / CS4?
    Best wishes

  • Working on CS3 files using CS4; resaving backwards to CS3.

    Currently I am working with CS3.  This file needs to be updated by a colleague using only CS4. Pls advise what is  the best methods/steps/ precautions she must take ensure that no links are lost etc;  and how she should resave backwards to CS 3. Thanks

    All that needs to happen is that she needs to export the file to InDesign interchage format (inx) so you can open it.  If she is editing any links at all she should also package it up afterwards and you should rename your links folder to force Indesign to use the new folder.
    Be aware that going from version to version like this can cause problems so back up your files.  Also text will likely reflow between the versions.  It's not recommended to do this all the time for these reasons.

  • How does Dreamweaver CS4 work with CS3 Design Suite?

    I am looking to purchase Dreamweaver on my computer however I currently have the CS3 versions of Photoshop and Illustrator installed on my computer. Will the DW CS4 version work if the rest of my Design Suite is CS3 or should I look to purchase CS3 if available?  Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

    Dreamweaver 3 will open a file in Photoshop, so DW CS4 should do the same. I think you might have problems with Adobe's Bridge. And it's possible that DW CS4 might decide that previous versions of Flash, Fireworks, Photoshop or Illustrator are not supported. So workflows may be a little more disjointed.
    So the real question will be: Do the advantages of DW CS4 outweigh possible hurdles in workflow?
    I will frequently open and replace graphic images using Photoshop without Dreamweaver open and, when I open the website, everything falls into place. I did that for a number of color changes and I worked exclusively in Photoshop for the first part of my day, replacing colors that were designed to be part of the website with the client's specific pick. I tend to save graphics as .PSD files and then use Photoshop's Export to Web and in CS3, Photoshop will remember two different paths for a Save (PSD) and a Save to Web.

  • CS5 to CS5.5 Upgrade. Will it work on CS3?

    CompUSA has a Product Upgrade from CS5 to CS5.5.
    Will it work on CS3?

    I don't want to purchase the upgrade, only to find out that it won't work.

    No, it won’t work.
    Buy the CS3 to CS5.5 upgrade and you’ll save 10% and get a free upgrade to CS6 when it ships.

  • Opening CS4 fIles on a second monitor, the way it worked in CS3.

    This drove me nuts for well over a year. I guess this is a "tip" of sorts for dual monitor users who recently switched from CS3 to CS4 and expect files to open on the 2nd monitor.
    With the advent of CS4, the ability to automatically open a few dozen files across my 2nd monitor became impossible unless the Application Frame was set to cover the 2nd monitor with its opaque grey background. What I missed was the ability to have a totally unencumbered view of the 2nd monitor's desktop..the way it worked in CS3 and earlier….and most importantly: to have anything I opened, appear on the 2nd monitor.
    Without the Application Frame active and positioned to cover my 2nd monitor, loading files would always appear under the Palettes on my 1st (smaller) monitor. (It's the way I work. 30" 2nd monitor on my left and main 24" in front of the keyboard).
    A couple of days ago, I accidentally clicked the yellow "Hide" button in the corner of the Application Frame. As expected, it hid the Application Frame into the Dock and left the window free.
    Here's the unexpected thing: Loading a file (or multiple files) continue to tile diagonally down the 2nd monitor, the way they do when the Application Frame was visible.
    It's almost perfect…the tiling spacing is still larger than it was in CS3 and the tiling starts where the bottom of the Application Frame's menu bar was positioned before it was hidden. But it's as close to CS3 dual monitor behavior workaround as I've found.
    It'd sure be nice if Adobe implemented a "Hide Application Frame" View Menu item in CS5.

    The screen dimensions are "right," but I don't want it to use up any more space on-screen than is in the window.
