Will ddr400 work on 845G Max

I'm thinking of buying a secondhand pc from a mate 4 cheap to do some serious OC'ing.
But i've got a bit of a prob....the mobo only supports upto ddr333 and i can't set
the memory frequency lower on his mobo meaning i can only clock as far as the memory will alow it. So im thinking if i can stick some ddr400 i'll be safe not to fry the memory.
So is it possible to put ddr400 in a board that only supports upto 333?
Its a 845G Max mobo with a 1.8b P4 cpu

Hi Sean
Have tried........NO GO!!! No2 led Green than grass on a fresh cut lawn or
field!!!
Had quick look on MSI tw site......and it's a NO support of DDR400 on 845GE Max.............
As I said.........if mem is cheap and WORKS grab it.....coz you can always upgrade to a faster MB later......Lo54d3L......????

  • Can't get COM2 to work on 845G MAX

I'm running the 845G MAX with a 2.26 P4 and 512mb RAM on WinXP Pro.
I am unable for get any I/O through COM2.  To test the ports, I'm using HyperTerminal over a null modem cable to a laptop.  When running this config, I have no problem communicating over COM1.  However, when I switch to COM2, I get nothing.  Strangely, the software recognizes COM2 as being there and active, but I can't get it to communicate.
I am using a connector that terminates to a DB-9 male and fits perfectly in the COM2 port on the motherboard.  In the BIOS, I tried setting the Super I/O setting for Serial Port B to both auto and also forcing COM2.  Nothing.
And the strange part to me is that any software I run seems to recognize COM2 as being active, it just cannot communcate over it.
    Any ideas?

Try swapping the pins in the cable (ie. 1 with 2, 3 with 4, 5 with 6, etc).  Also, the pinout in the manual is wrong:
    Wrong:1 2
                3 4
                5 6
                7 8
                9
    Right:  1 6
               2 7
               3 8
               4 9
               5
    Worked for me!
    Good luck.

Need to know your Mac model. If it's a PowerPC, the max OS is Leopard 10.5.x. If it's an Intel procesor, you can upgrade to Snow Leopard (for $29) & later to Lion.

  • 845G Max problem

My system is running fine at default speed. When it's overclocked to 133MHz FSB, it will always crash at the same spot when booting into Windows. That's when I use the Intel built-in graphics card.
When I use the TNT2, it will only boot into Windows in safe mode at 133MHz. And I see a lot of conflicts in the display card properties, i845G something, can't remember.
There's no option to properly disable the built in AGP. And why is it not working at 133MHz, I thought at 133MHz, everything is running at default speed, right?
    Here's my system specs:
    P4 1.8A
    MSI i845G Max
    Corsair PC2700 RAM
    Creative TNT2 (when I test)
    DLink NIC
BTW, the same processor works fine when it's overclocked to 145MHz FSB using MSI 645DX.

My RAM is a PC2700, even if I change the ratio, it is still within the RAM spec.
Intel Extreme is extremely stable at 100MHz FSB as stated earlier. It will crash at the same spot when booting into Windows at 133MHz FSB.
I tested using a TNT2. It won't even boot into Windows at 100MHz FSB. But using safe mode, TNT2 works fine at 133MHz FSB. But when I checked the display properties, there's a lot of conflicts in between the Intel Extreme and TNT2.
Now my question is, why I can't use my TNT2 even at 100MHz? It was working fine using another MSI 845G Max before I sent for RMA.
Why Intel Extreme doesn't work at 133MHz FSB? I've tried all the memory timings, ratio FYI. It has nothing to do with RAM timings I'm afraid. I tested the same RAM on my KT3. 166MHz at agressive timings run perfectly well.

  • 845g max with sb audigy

Yesterday i installed my new mainboard 845g max, and put in my old sb-audigy player.
It installs but then it is not recognised by the system later on, also when I try to update the drivers, it says that no audigy is installed. ALso after booting again, it says twice that the audiodevice is not installed properly.
I tried several slots, all with same result......
    os is ME latest updates..
Bios is 1.2 (haven't got fdd installed)
    512mb
    p4 2,26 533

I did install the inf's first the cd version and later the updates....
    Didn't work either.
Found a lot of similar problems concerning audigy with kt7 boards....
Seems creative is preparing a major driverupdate of 50 mb.
I tried xp yesterday, same problem, when I installed the latest inf-file, computer resets and has irrecoverable error....Finally I gave up, I will use the onboard sound for a while until creative updates the drivers...
    thanks for suggestions :]

  • 845G max-L overclocking

    Heya all
    Here is my issue.
I have an 845G Max-L, a p4 1.8a SL63X, and 512 MB of PC2700. The damn board won't let me get the chip to 533fsb. I have tried a buddies 1.6a that will do it on his machine and it still freezes on Windows loadup on mine. My chip however works fine in his comp at 533.
Does anyone have any tips on getting this board to O/C chips to 533fsb? Is it even possible?
    Thanks all,
    Kyle.

    Hey
the RAM is good Samsung stuff, and I had tried all the voltages that the board allows. None of them let me boot the 1.8a @ 2.4Ghz. The chip workes fine on other motherboards, but not this one!! =)
I am really stumped. I think I may just take the board back!

  • MSI X48C Platinum and DDR3 corsair 2x4 GB @ 1600mhz WILL IT WORK??

Hi , I truly appreciate the mere existence of this forum .
    my system is :
    PSU : Corsair 650HX
    CPU : Intel Core2Duo E6750
    GPU : Geforce GTX 260
    RAM : (currently 2x1gig DDR2 @ 667 Mhz)
    and
i just bought 2x4gb dims of DDR3 ram (corsair vengeance)
it doesn't work ( i believe it's because it maxes out at 8 gigs so it won't support 4gig dims?? just a guess)
    my question is this :
if i change the memory for four 2gig dims , at the same frequency (1600 mhz , ddr3 ) will it work without the need for tweaking ,
or at least a minimal quantity of the whole tweaking-ness?
i'm only asking because time is of the essense ( i really need the pc working )
and if there is no chance of this combination working, would 4x2 gigs at 1333 Mhz work ??
also , since i don't believe i have ever updated the mobo's bios , should i do that? ( and which is the safest way to do it??)
and just out of curiosity , what is the fastest memory that this mobo can support at 8 gigs without any stability problems whatsoever ??

Your board and the chipset do support DDR3-1600. The memory you are mentioning is not on the support list.
    The board's support states Quote
Supports four unbuffered DIMM of 1.5 Volt DDR3 800/1066/1333/1600 DRAM, 8GB Max
Thus you need 2GB modules to get to 8GB if that is what you need/want.
See here for the supported memory modules http://eu.msi.com/file/test_report/TR10_1393.pdf
You will see that no DDR-1600 2gb module is even on that list. Only 1GB 1600 modules were tested.
If you want to use 2GB modules then get yourself 1333 modules. The performance difference is minimal and you should have good stability with these modules.

  • Satellite A30-504 - maximum size HDD - will 160GB work?

    Hi guys,
I've a good old A30-504, and the 40GB HDD died a few days ago... I had to buy a new one but the smallest one I can get is 120GB or 160GB.
    (Samsung HM121HC or HM160HC)
will it work in my laptop or should I choose a 40-80GB second-hand one?
    regards,
    Zoltan

    Hi
Everything depends on your HDD controller.
If the HDD controller support only 28bit LBA then your could use max 120GB HDD.
If your HDD controller supports 48bit LBA then you could use bigger HDDs.
The ATA-6 defines Ultra DMA/100 (also called Ultra DMA mode 5 or Ultra-ATA100) and it support 48bit LBA.
ATA-5 and lower versions support only 28bit LBA.

  • Which 845G Max-L bios version are you running?

    Before I flash my 845G Max-L bios from v1.1 to v1.4, I
thought I'd post a message asking what bios version are the owners of the 845G Max-L board are currently running.
I noticed that v1.4 fixes 'CPU microcode', but I don't believe that Intel would leave it to MSI to update the CPU (P4) microcode!  What does v1.4 really fix?

I've never flashed an AMI bios (only a Phoenix bios on another computer) but I have two questions .....
I'm currently running WinXP Home with 4 partitions
    primary, 2nd, 3rd partitions ( C: D: E: ) are formatted as NTFS, but the 4th partition ( F: ) is FAT.
Should I just copy the amifl827.exe and A6580IMS.140
to the FAT formatted  F: partition, reboot using Win98 floppy and flash from the F: partition OR should I just copy them to the ramdisk and run from the ramdisk?
Will amifl827 try to access my C: partition and flake out because it is formatted as NTFS or does it just do it's thing from the partition I'm flashing from and ignore all the other partitions?
Copy the bios files onto a floppy disk and flash from there

  • Device works fine with MAx but not with Labview visa serial

I have a Monarch rpm sensor hooked up to Monarch tachometer , it gives error while coding in labview and works fine in Max if the sensor doesn't read 0. I have written simple RS-232 programs never had an error but this one is giving errors ..not ablt to fix it..please help
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

No device can actually measure a speed of zero.  It can only specify that the speed is less than some minimum, which depends on how long you are willing to wait for an answer.
I do not know anything about your instrument, but I would guess that you are getting an error which is the equivalent of "The instrument has waited the maximum permissible amount of time and did not detect any measurable motion."  This is the instrument's way of saying that the speed may be zero, or very slow, or something is broken so that it cannot make a measurement but it cannot detect the problem.
Look at the manual for you instrument to see how it responds to the zero speed condition.  This error may be normal.  If so, you need to capture the particular error code and handle it however you think is appropriate.

  • MyDAQ fails Self-Test and will not work with any software

I cannot get the myDAQ to communicate properly. I did everything I could to make sure that the device was detected by the computer. It shows up in Device Manager under Data Acquistition Devices as NI myDAQ and in NI MAX as "myDAQ1", but I receive errors when trying to use it with any NI program.
Trying to self-test or reset the device in MAX gives these errors:
-The self test failed. -88705 The specified device is not present or is not active in the system. The device may not be installed on this system, may have been unplugged, or may not be installed correctly.
-There was a problem resetting the device. Error code: 80040383.
It also gives this error when trying to use the Elvis Oscilloscope:
-Error -200324 occurred at ELVISmx_DAQmx Create Channel (AI-Voltage-Basic).vi:1
    Possible reason(s):
NI-DAQmx is unable to communicate with the device. Make sure the device is present in and accessible to the system, is not currently being reset, and is not reserved by another driver such as Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy).
I have uninstalled and reinstalled and repaired all installed NI products twice. I updated to NI-DAQmx 9.8.0 and am using NI Elvis 4.5. I have checked  NI Device Loader and mDNS Responder Service in Services and everything is running properly. I have also tried Reset Configuration Data in NI MAX several times. I turned Fast Startup off as suggested in one article. I have tried plugging it into every single USB port on my computer; all 8 of them. The blue led is on when plugged in, but I cannot figure out why it will not work with any of the software. I am running Windows 8 Pro 64-bit. Also, it completely works on the school computers running Windows 7 without any problems. I would like to have it functioning with all the NI software purchased, but all I want to do is use the oscilloscope software for now. It has honestly been way too much work and a huge loss of time for something that should work out of the box. Please help me resolve this, thanks.

    Hi chaka123,
I had already read that article so it wasn't anything I hadn't tried. I did, however, uninstall both NI DAQmx and NI ELVISmx, ran the registry cleaner and then plugged my device in. Now it shows up as USB Flash Firmware Updater. This is actually what it showed the first time I plugged this in out of the box. After much troubleshooting I was finally able to get it to at least recognize it as a myDAQ. This is problem I know others have had.
    To answer your questions:
Does the Test Panels work at all?
I am not sure, I didn't try it before uninstalling. Now the Test Panels isn't an option because it is recognized as the Flash Firmware Updater.
Have you tried to delete the device in MAX?
Once again, I cannot because it shows up as Flash Firmware Updater.
Which is the color of the icon on the left side of “myDAQ1”?
It was green before the uninstall. Now it shows the USB symbol.
I tried deleting the driver. When I plugged the device back it, Windows started automatically trying to load a driver for it. Now it shows as NI myDAQ with a yellow exclamation symbol. In MAX it shows as NI myDAQ with a USB symbol. Under Driver Details it says "Windows does not have a driver associated with your device."
What folder can I manually point Device Manager to in order to load the correct driver?

  • 845G max , VGA drivers slowdown the system

    hi, my new machine: C4 1.7G , MSI 845G max, Kingston DDR 256M , Seagate U6 40G.   Win2000 Server
    Problems:
    1.  The boot time of win2000 server is too long as more than 1 minute, it is longer than my Celeron 300A system !!! I think it's abnormal.
    2. When I have installed win2000 server, then I install the Intel VGA drivers, but after I have finished the VGA drivers installation, the system comes into slow. For example I click right button of the mouse on the desktop,  the menu poped out slowly, and when I open a window also slowly.
I have try to upgrade the bios and Intel INF , Intel VGA drivers to last version, but there are no effects.

Did you update win2000 to SP2 or SP3 and update directX8.1?
    Preferably the process will be:
    -clean install
    -SP2/3
    -intel inf
    -directx8.1b
    -VGA drivers

    dear all,
I've a chance of getting for a couple of Euro a 40 GB, used Apple internal hd.
All the information I can get is this: Hard Disk IDE 3,5'' Apple 40 Gb,
Seagate, 5400 rpm... will it work on my G4? Also, according to the dealer (found on eBay, but he lives in my town) it comes from a G5 from 2005 (but I guess it was on another machine before then, as I doubt in 2005 Apple had such small hd on a top Power Mac).
I'd use the hd mainly as a spare boot hd in case there are problems with the main one, and allow me to get a cheaper usb 2 external instead of a firewire for the data.
    Thanks!

I've emailed the dealer again and he sent me the specs of the G5 the hd was on, it's getting even more "strange" ...

    Any idea?

Without even looking at the picture — yes. You have probably restricted the number of Tracks to 16.
+"If you are using the native engine, you can limit the number of tracks via the+
Audio > Audio Driver > Max. Number of Audio tracks
+setting for the individual driver/hardware, thereby limiting the amount of memory and processing power required."+
You can switch this off (or choose 30 Tracks).
