Will deleting i-pod photo cache wipe pics off i-pod?

I've found the i-pod photo cache file that I want to delete (cos it has a ton of memory in the file).
My question is: can I do that and STILL keep all my pictures on my i-pod? Or is there some adjustment I can make, like manually keeping my pictures on i-pod?
Thanks

You can delete it, but if I remember correctly, iTunes will recreate it every time you sync the iPod with the computer.
iTunes uses that folder to store the pics in the size the iPod uses.
Pictures have to be on the computer for them to get on the iPod. There is no manual picture syncing.

I'm running iTunes 10.5 on my Macbook Pro and software 4.1 on my 2g iPod touch and having problems getting photo's to sync. Same error, "iPod can't be synced req'd file can't be found". Tried deleting the photo cache, restoring the iPod etc but to no avail.

    Try here:
    iTunes: Unable to sync photos
Usually deleting the iPod Photo Cache Folder works. Note that if you sync via the folder method, make sure you dlete all the ifolders since :
The iPod Photo Cache stores the photos that are optimized for display on your iPod, iPad, or iPhone. The location of this folder depends on the syncing options you select. In iTunes, if you change the selection in the “Sync Photos From” pop-up menu, a new iPod Photo Cache folder will be created (and the previous folder will remain).

  • IPdo photo cache delete problem

I have a lot of images and they are all organized alphabetically and in numerous folders. I have over 40,000 synced photos.
When I delete my iPod Photo Cache, it was 30GB, and resync, it jumbles all the images up and they aren't in their original order or folder.
I keep reading that iTunes will rebuild the IPC but I am not haveing that outcome.
Any ideas or hints? I'm on a PC syncing to a folder location on my hard drive.
    Thanks

Wow, no one with this issue but me?

  • Deleting iPod Photo Cache fixes iPhoto syncing error 208

Thanks to some buried posts, I learned that deleting the "iPod Photo Cache" in the iPhoto Library folder fixes the -208 error that occurs when syncing an iPod Video with images in iPhoto. Instead of manually deleting this folder, however, I used OnyX to clean all the caches.
I wish I tried this first before going through the iPod Restore process...

15 PowerBook   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   Soon to be a new MBP Core 2 Duo!

    Hi Paul,
I followed your advice and I simply deleted the contents of the iPod Photo Cache folder, after having backed up the entire iPhoto Library.
Before doing it tried to solve the problem by I restarting iTunes, iPhoto and PowerBook a few times, hoping that it would have trigger the clean-up of the cached photo files. It did not.
So far I have not noticed any problems with iPhoto or iPod after the "forced" deletion. However, I am a little surprised that the cached files are not cleaned up automatically when the user reduces his selection of photos to be synced to iPod. Maybe the logic is that it is good to have even unused cached copies of the photos is case they are needed later (creating them is quite slow). Also I would have wanted to keep them, but I run out of disk space

  • The New iPad will not sync all photo's

I picked up the new iPad yesterday at the Apple store and am having a problem getting it to sync all of my photo library.
Im using iTunes on Windows 7 to sync the "My Pictures" folder to the iPad.
It will sync some but not all of the folders in the "My Pictures". I have deleted the "iPod Photo Cache" folder, that did not help.
I have 2 iPhones and 2 older iPad 1's  which sync the photo's just fine.

Maybe, although I always thought there was a threshold for each device below which it wouldn't have to create an "optimized" (re-sized) version.  You'd think this would be a high number for the New iPad, giving the screen resolution.  For example, my re-sized (3072 on the long edge) pictures aren't being optimized before tranfer -- they're just copying over and they work just fine.
Who knows.  I just got off the phone with a tier-2 AppleCare rep (I found this thread while we were on the phone), and he indicated he would pass this thread along to the engineers.  It's a pretty obvious bug somewhere in the mix, and one I suspect they'll be all over right away, given the attractiveness of the new iPad to photography types.

  • Does iPod Photo Cache clean itself?

I typically shoot 400 photos and keep 100.  I don't always delete the extras right away, and a few syncs may occur in between.
I'm wondering -- will the iPod Photo Cache get cluttered up with photos I later deleted... or does the photo sync software know how to "tidy up" as it goes?
I'm wondering if it's worth deleting the iPod Photo Cache periodically and letting it rebuild.  I say "worth" because it takes the computer many hours of high CPU to do this job for each of my devices, so I don't want to do it if it's not definitely useful.

In general it's not necessary to delete or "clean" any cache on your mac unless you're having a specific cache related problem. The OS (or the individual) apps do this.

  • ITunes will no longer sync photos to "my" iPod

I get this message when I try to sync photos (Aperture3). The options are grayed out. iPod touch 2.2.1 version/ OSX 10.6.8 iMac24 duo core. iPod is almost empty(14gb avail) Anyone having this problem? Any solution?

Assuming they are in a [compatible file format|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2335] I would try [deleting the ipod photo cache|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1314]. In Windows go to Pictures>iPod Photo Cache.
    Hope this solves your problem.

  • How to delete images or photos from Photostream

Is it possible to delete images or photos in Photostream? If yes, how to proceed?

How do I delete photos from my Photo Stream in iCloud?
Individual photos cannot be deleted from your Photo Stream. You can, however, delete all the photos in your Photo Stream by clicking the Reset Photo Stream button in your account at icloud.com. The Reset Photo Stream button will instantly delete all Photo Stream photos stored in iCloud, but it will not remove any Photo Stream photos that have already been pushed to your devices.
How do I delete photos from my Photo Stream on my devices?
After deleting the photos from your Photo Stream in iCloud, you can remove the Photo Stream photos from your devices as follows:
On your iOS devices, go to Settings > iCloud > Photo Stream and turn Photo Stream off. This will delete all the photos from your Photo Stream album. If there are any photos you want to keep on your device, make sure to add them to an album or save them to your Camera Roll first.

  • Photo Cache Update??

Does the iPod Photo Cache update automatically from My Pictures (assuming of course that's where the photos from the camera are stored to begin with.)
If not, is the Photo Cache needed at all? It seems a waste of space to have the same photos in 2 locations. . .

So no one else updates photos?
The acceptable solution to this is to go around and delete everyone's photo cache?

  • IPod touch photo cache duplicates

My iPod photo cache has multiple duplicate images. I believe they appeared after picking up a virus on my PC and I synched the iPod. Now the virus has been removed from my PC, how can I remove just the duplicate photos from my iPod?

Just delete the iPod Photo cache(s) (there can be more than one) and resync.

  • Not very tech Davy, just figured out how to print a pic off phone to wireless printer, how do I change pic size from 8x10

    Can u help

I tell you how. dumb luck. Certainly no thanks to "Apple Care" or maybe we should call them apple "careless." I told them my issue , and what I did to fix it so far. They tell me to delete the ipod photo cache and resync. They kill me.
What kills me even more is * I preface this by stating that I am in no way a racist, and this has nothing to do with race, color, or creed, it has to do with getting good customer service. I, myself, am disabled. I have an artificial pelvis and left leg. I know my limits, you won’t see me trying to get a job where my disability affects the job I was doing. I running any marathons any time soon*
I’d call apple care again, but I’m not fluent in some of the languages the telephone customer service agents speak. Funny, you’d think that apple would try and get customer service people that can be understood over the phone. It’s like hiring a blind guy to drive a school bus. They will get you somewhere, but probably not where you wanted to go. Maybe we should call the Apple HR dept and have them hire some deaf people to field service calls, would be just as smart as hiring someone who was mute, or in Their case someone that can not be understood by an English speaking person. Just my two cents. Feel free to pass it on.

  • If I delete all my photos in my camera roll will it still be in my iCloud ??? And I made a photo stream for pics of me and my friends is t in my iCloud ? I want to delete all my pictures but will it be in my iCloud ?

If I delete all my photos in my camera roll will it still be in my iCloud ??? And I made a photo stream for pics of me and my friends is t in my iCloud ? I want to delete all my pictures but will it be in my iCloud ?

Don't rely on iCloud to back up your pictures.  It's designed to sync them to your devices, not back them up.  Photo stream photos only remain in iCloud for 30 days, allowing your devices enough time to download them.  But if you ever lose your device, or have to replace it, any photos older than 30 days will no longer be in iCloud to download.
To keep your photos, import them to your computer using your usb cable while they are still in your camera roll, as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.  After importing them, you will be given an option to delete them from your device.
