Will downloading new Acrobat subscription wipe out existing Acrobat files?

Hi Everyone,
I am a university faculty member who had Acrobat installed on my work computer at home. A student this term plagiarized a paper and in the process of visiting the paper mill the paper was plagiarized from, my computer was infected with a virus. In the end this made it necessary to reinstall most software systems through Dell in my computer. However evidently Dell reinstalled a somewhat different subscription of Adobe Acrobat during the repair process. I used to be able to edit my pdfs directly from the document without having to export to (e.g.) Word. I need to do this for my work so I clicked on the 'subscribe for this feature' option on one of my existing pdfs. I was shortly informed that I have committed to pay $19.99 / mo. for the privilege of editing my pdfs in any fashion. However, when I try to do this nothing happens--I am unable to edit text.
Most likely this is for the reason that I have not clicked on a button somewhere that says 'download your software' now (for my 'new' subscription). But I am worried: I have many existing Acrobat files that are essential to my livelihood on my computer (although I can't edit any of them now!). If I download my 'new subscription') what will happen to my existing files? If I have this existing version of Acrobat and try to download a new one, will this affect (e.g. override) my existing files? Sorry to sound paranoid and possibly very naïve but given my experience above perhaps you will understand. Can someone help?

Hi Topics9,
Have you installed Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader?
With Adobe Reader you can only view files and not edit them.
If you are using Acrobat then what version are you using on your computer at the moment?
If you are using an older version then installing the newer version will not affect any of the saved pdfs you have.
When you say you try to edit pdf then nothing happens....do you get any error? As 'Ajlan' mentioned above is the pdf protected? Does the same issue exist with other pdfs as well.
We need more details to be able to help you. Screenshots will be very helpful.

  • Itunes 10.5 update - itunes downloading afresh - will this wipe out existing libraries

I'm trying to update itunes to 10.5 to enable update of iOS5 to iPhone 4 . Unlike before when responding to prompt to update itunes, it opens up a new browser and prompts to download itunes. I went through the steps - up to the installation - but then noticed actions such as removing Itunes libraries. I aboted at this stage. Will this fresh install- wipe out existing libraries- or ok to carry on.

Upgrading to iTunes 10.5 won't affect your iTunes Library. The phrase "removing Itunes libraries" will have refered to removing old versions of iTunes code in "dynamically linked libraries", or DLL files, to make way for the new updated versions of the same.

  • Will reinstall of OSX wipe out existing Boot Camp partition?

After a trial install of Parallels corrupted my XP side I have had to reinstall XP on a new boot camp partition, (seen as C: drive).
But soon after that I noticed a few apps not working properly or not at all in the OSX side.
I've tried to start up from the Tech Tool disk by holding the C key but it will not do it. It always just starts normally at the sign in prompt rather than running from the disk. I used the Disk Tools app. on the OSX installer disk to Repair Disk Permissions that seem to be needed. It then verifies the corrections are completed, but show back up again in repeat tests. I've concluded that I probably need to just do a fresh install of Osx but does that mean it wipes out the XP side as well?
All this reinstalling takes a ton of time that I need to be doing my job instead.

I installed Leopard over Tiger on two machines (normal upgrade not A&I) and on both machines the XP and Vista sides were still working just as before.
If you system is clean, there is no reason for an install of one to affect the other. Bootcamp is over and done with, once it creates the partition. At that point you have a dual-boot system and the partition wall will prevent one from OS from changing the other.
I have not even run BC2.0. My partitions were created with BC1.3 which I updated to 1.4 before installing Leopard.

  • Paste Conditional Format rule wipes out existing formula... & vice versa.

As far as I can see there is no way to copy an already established conditional formatting rule onto a cell that already has a formula entered without wiping out the formula. And when you set the formatting rule first and then paste in the formula, it wipes out the conditional formatting rule.
Surely this is not too much to ask -- or am I missing something here?

Badunit, thank you for the info about Paste and Match Style. That works very nicely. Interestingly, I don't believe the specific use of the command for this purpose is documented in the manual, though it certainly should be.
Yvan, I have read everything the manual has to say about conditional formatting three or four times over, and yes, I know that the function is available via the Inspector as well as under the Format menu.
You are mistaken, however regarding copy and paste.
Conditional formatting is indeed transferrable via copy and paste, as you will find if you try it, and as is mentioned in the manual at the bottom of page 82. And pasting a function into a cell with conditional formatting deletes that formatting. So Badunit's suggestion is the only solution to avoid having to re-enter either the formula (very large) or the formatting rules. In this instance there were 14 rules in force, and re-entering them was tedious.
A little less rushing to judgement - and a little more courtesy, please.

  • IPod nano gen 4 Mac formatted: if I do a PC format, will it wipe out existing songs, audiobooks etc.?

My PC wants me to format the nano. Will this cause all the existing data to be wiped out and the Mac reformatted to work on that computer again?

Niel, does this mean a PC (Windows 7) formatted ipod nano can be synched on a Mac (with songs, etc.) and comingled with data previously synched from the PC? What I would like to do is download into the ipod nano stuff from both the PC and the Mac with the PC being the primary computer connected to the nano.

  • My 5S touchscreen is not working, I cannot enter the lock password, is there a way to retrieve data? Apply store wants to reissue a new iphone and wipe out the existing.

    Hello,
I purchased a new Iphone 5S about a couple of months back. The phone use to hang up occassionally with a white screen and the black apple logo on it. Two days back the screen went unresponsive. I cannot enter the lock code. Everything seems to be normal otherwise. I can see the Atnt signal, I get calls.  The find my iphone app on a different device can locate my iphone. I can even take screenshot by pressing the home key and power button simultaneously.
I took the phone to apple store and they say they will issue me a new phone. I dnt mind but I will loose the data on the phone. It was never backed up because my icloud is filled with data from my ipad. Is there a work around to get the data  back.?
    Any help is appreciated.

Are you sure that the battery is not empty: when the battery is VERY empty (that is when it was on and a long time off the charger) it may take an hour or even more to start charging with the charger connected. When you have an iPad charger you can also use that one, and it charges a bit faster.

  • Downloading new tunes without wiping out all of my current music on my iPod. How do I keep my existing tunes while loading new tunes?

I read that I can make a playlist & maually download that, but what if I am downloading numerous (many) whole CDs?

Your iPod is designed to mirror your iTunes library.  So if you remove content that was originally stored in your iTunes library, it will be removed from the iPod as well the next time you sync it.
If you want to avoid this from happening, you'll want to set up the device for manual management.

  • Will migrating to another Mac wipe out the original?

If I migrate my data from my MacBook 10.5.8 to my new MacBook Pro 10.7, will it wipe all the data from the MacBook 10.5.8?  Or is it just copying everything to the new MacBook?

It will NOT disrupt the 10.5.8 Mac. It is merely a copy function being performed.
It's main function is to provide a way of having your existing data work in the new environment.

  • Will loading a movie to iPod really wipe out all audio files?

    Hi folks:
In the midst of loading CD collection into Video iPod 80GB. Decided to load a DVD as well and received a warning message that "loading movie will delete all files".
Has anyone seen this? I can't imagine that Apple designed a product that is so un-user-friendly.
Any guidance would be appreciated. By the way, I just learned that I need to convert the DVD format to MP4 - but am reluctant to begin conversion process if loading a movie necessitates deleting all audio files.
    Thanks.

I am by no means an expert but would think that you are just adding the "file", not the playable on and that would convert the iPod into a masstorage device WHICH then would deleate all the musicfiles on it. What you need to do is to download a program to tranform the video file in to a mp4 file and then put it into iTunes and Then load it onto the iPod, that worked for me.
