Will Dynamic Parameters remain connect if source system rebuild.

Hi Experts,
Will dynamic parameters remain connected if the source SAP system is formatted and rebuild.
Our Scenario
Now we pointed our Crystal Reports to SAP Ecc Tables.
SAP Systems : A
Client : 10;
IP : 192.xxx.xx.xx
Now the SAP Source system is formatting and going to rebuild with Production COPY.
but the system information (IP,SYS NO, Client No) will remain same .
My Question is : Do we need to re-point Dynamic parameters in the Crystal reports again? or connection remain.
Thanks,
BharathU

Hi Frischer,
If the copy is the exact same, meaning the query id, as well as the properties of the query are exactly the same, then it would work, as far as I know.
Even the prompts have id's and measures and dimensions too. If those are not the same, then I believe that you would need to remapp.
I hope this is a very helpful answer to you.
Kind regards,
John

  • Could not make connection to source system

    Hello Experts,
I am trying to fetch data based on selection for last month in info-package but when I try to enter selection (pull down button), I get error message - "Could not make connection to source system..."
    Any idea why this message?
I have already checked connection to ECC - is fine.
    Datasource is replicated.
Also if I try to run info-package without selection - I am getting yellow status, No data fetched. RSA3 shows many rows but Info-package to data (Full extraction.)
    Regards,
    SM

    Srini/Vikram,
user credential is good. sm59 connection is good. there is data in selection as RSA3 fetches rows in ecc.
when I run any info-package - I am getting yellow status? No data while rsa3 indicate data for Full update?
    why so?
I am more of design person, not much into hands-on - so seeing these error for first time.
Q1) if a package is already schedule - let us sat thru data source 2lis_11_vaitm. Now I want to go back and retrieve last month data already extracted... once again. I should be able to pull this data in new infopackage using Full update - data selection option.
Q2) - rsa3 should fetch data based on set-up tables, so any infopackage based on Full update mode - should fetch data - independent of any other infopackage.
q3) we need to do delete and fill-set-up table - only if extract structure is changed? right?

    Symptom
When you activate or transport ODS objects, the following errors appear in the log:
"The creation of the export DataSource failed". Message number RSBM 035
"Error &1 in function module &2". Message number RSBM 006

    Reason and Prerequisites
A characteristic involved is active but it is using new or inactive attributes.
Characteristics involved are all characteristics used in the ODS object.
    Solution
Check all characteristics involved as described in the following:
Check the Compounding and Attributes tabs in the characteristics maintenance.
All characteristics here must be active. This is displayed by a green icon.
If this is not the case for a characteristic involved (a gray icon is displayed on one of the two tabs), activate the characteristic involved. This also activates the inactive dependent characteristics.
After you have checked and repaired all the characteristics involved as described above, the loading/maintenance of master data should work again

  • Dynamic Parameters - DB Connections

<p class="ssiBODYCOPY">Hello...<br /><br />I am using CR XI with Oracle 9i DB.<br />I have multiple reports using Dynamic parameters.<br />When i run the report it&#39;s creating separate DB <br />connections for each parameter. Is there anyway i can <br />setup the report so it will use only one connection for <br />all the dynamic parameters..<br />Appreciate your input!<br /><br />Thank you</p>

If this is the same as the problem I had a few years ago, it was a parameter in the database setup rather than an option you could control from your client end.  Although it appeared that I was establishing multiple connections, the connections were actually being created inside the Oracle server.  The effect of the setting on the tables was to establish additional connections for processing transactions when it looked like parallel processing would speed up the system. I don&#39;t remember the full details, but I do remember it got very nasty between the DBA&#39;s and the application developers.

  • Transformation issue while connecting multiple source system of same type..

    Hi,
I'm working on APO-BW integration project. I want to connect BW QA & BW PROD to APO QA. I've already connected BW QA to APO QA & it is fetching data correctly. RFC part & other BASIS part is already taken care of. I've done export datasource (for mater data, cube etc) in BW PROD & replicated in APO QA. All BW PROD datasources are imported as RSDS (7.X) in APO QA.
Now my question is how to make sure the transformations will take source system as BW PROD too? I want 2 datasources (one from BW QA & other from BW PROD) to connect to same inforprovider in APO. I've transported 7.x datsource from APO DEV to APO QA environment along with transformations. In conversion of logical system names in APO QA I've given source system -BW DEV & target system - BW QA. So the transformation automatically takes data source as BW QA. It doesn't take source-system - BW DEV & target system - BW PROD as it conflicts previous setting.
Is only option that I need to manually maintain transformation from BW PROD datasource or there's another better alternative?

    HI,
You are getting multiple IDOCs into BPM. But output you are getting one message right? IF so, your N:1 Mapping is not done correctly.
i.e your target message type should have occurence of 1..n and also the interface mapping. Closely obsever the N:1 mapping done in the BpmPatternCollectMerge.
Also go to SXMB_MONI->PE and check the Technical Details to make sure that, you are getting multiple IDOCs and you are executing the N:1 Transformation step correctly.
Also in the N:1 Mapping, check out the context you used. Make it root .  Then test the mapping independently in the Integration Repository.
    Hope it helps,
    Regards,
    Moorthy

  • Question about Note 886102 - Empty the delta queue of the connected SAP source systems

    Dear expert
I'm doing the system refresh from ECC PRD to QAS using the hot backup of PRD
Before i start the database restore i was told to do the following step since this ECC has connection with one BW system
    -----------------------Step -----------------------------
    2.17 SAP note 886102 scenario C3
Empty the delta queue for all of the connected BW systems.
Execute all delta info packages two times on BW side, to clean up the delta queue in the source system. This is needed, because BDLS cannot rename the still available LUW-s in the qRFC queue.
    ----------------------Step-----------------------
But unfortunately i missed to execute this step
And the Q11 is now retoreing the backup of the database
    My quesion
    1. what will be bad consequence due to not execute this step? any way to makeup this error?
    Best regards,

    Hi Kate,
The probably issue which I could forsee is data getting wrongly updated into production if RFC connection from ECC to BW is not stopped.
Solution here could be to disable or deletethe RFC connections between ECC and BW before starting the SAP system at database level.
    delete from sapr3.rfcdes where rfcdest = '<name>';
Once the system is up and running you can recreate them if required.
Also before starting SAP set the number of batch processes to 0 on the profile at OS level so that any released jobs don't start as soon as SAP is up.
Once the SAP system is up execute BDLS and change the logical system name.
    Hope this helps.

    Deepak Kori

  • Connecting new source system

    Dear All,
Till now in the project, BW Quality System was connected to 600 Client of ECC Quality.
Now client wants to connect the BW Quality System to 606 Client of ECC Quality.
What changes need to be done to connect all the BI Objects existing in the system to other client.
I have thought of the following steps.
In Coversion of logical system names I will add this client.
And re-import all the transports again.
Or would you suggest any other way.
Let me kno if my requirement is not clear.
    Cheers,
    Neel.

    hi Neelesh,
If Change only the client names if they belongs to same serever then the configration will be the same there might be only change in the data i think there is no necessary of re-importing the request.
If you adjust the source system thats enough.
Let me know if you have any doubts.
    Regards,
    Shiva.

  • Connection between Source Systems and BW

    Hello,
I´m trying to connect our SAP BI 7.0 system to SAP R/3.
At the following link, the topics for connecting BW with SAP source systems aren´t mentioned in detail:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_dm40/helpdata/en/00/dc54384ac9a81be10000009b38f8cf/frameset.htm
I already have setup and tested the RFC-connections, so I primarly need a step by step description for the ALE settings (Partner profiles,Port, IDoc types,IDoc segments) in the
    context of BW-SAP R/3 connectivity.
    Thank you for your postings
    Best regards
    Mehmet

    Hi Srini,
    Thank you for you´re answer.
I have checked  WE20 and W21. The ports and the partner profiles are created automaticly in BW and R/3 sides, when creating the new source system in RSA1.
The main problem is, that the R/3 can´t send data to BW, although the ALE and RFC configurations are setup properly. After I replicated and activated several data sources in BW succesfully, I´m requesting data from the R/3 system with an infopackage, but after a few hours the follwing failure message occurs in the monitor :
Errors while sending packages from OLTP to BI
    Diagnosis
No IDocs could be sent to BI using RFC.
    System Response
There are IDocs in the source system ALE outbox that did not arrive in the ALE inbox of BI.
    Further analysis:
    Check the TRFC log.
You can access this log using the wizard or the menu path "Environment -> Transact. RFC -> In source system".
    Error handling:
If the TRFC is incorrect, check whether the source system is fully connected to BI. In particular, check the authorizations of the background user in the source system.
In the TRFC (SM58) log in R/3 there appears an status text with the following entry:
"No service for system SAPABC client 123 in the integration directory".
For this entry I have found the SAPnote 940313. In this note, there is described how to send Idocs over Integration Server. Now I think that our R/3 system tries to send Idocs over the Integration server too.
But is there another alternative to send Idocs from R/3 to BW without using the Integration server?
    Best regards
    Mehmet

  • Connecting IDES source system to BI Dev system

    Hi,
Can we connect IDES R/3 system to BIW dev system???
If yes, then is it the same procedure for RFC or something different???
    Thanks & Regards.

    Hi Ganesh,
Yes, you can. Is like any other R/3 system.
You just create the source system in BW and that's all.
    Hope this helps.

  • Source system connection issues

    Hello BI Experts,
We had issues with the source system connection - from our BI system (NW 04s) to our R/3 system (ECC 6.0) .
From RSA1, when we right click on the R3 source sytem and do a "Check", it was erroring out: "Error in source system <Logsysname1>". This Logsysname1 was different one from the actual R/3 system's Logsys name (Logsysname2) .
To Fix this, we restored the connection by selecting the (R/3) Source system and right click and "Restore".
After providing the passwords for the RFC users, the system again asked "The Connection <XY> is used in the <Logsysname1> Source system as a connection." And we selected the "Delete" option here. Then in the Logon screen to R/3, we provided the administrator user Id and password.
Once the source system connection is complete, we checked the connection as mentioned above and the "Source Sytem connection is OK" now.
    (1) But now, in the transaction RSA1, the R/3 system is displayed under "BI" instead of "SAP".
    (2) When we asked our BI consultant to check the dataloads, he encountered an error: "No transfer structure is available for InfoSource <X> in the Source system. Errors in Source system".
How can we bring the R/3 system under "SAP" now?
If we delete the R/3 system (which is listed under BI) and recreate under "SAP", will the transfer rules will also get deleted?? How to avoid this issue?
    Please advise.
    John
    SAP Basis.

    Hi,
Please make sure that you have followed the below steps while creating the Source System
    1.     In the initial screen of the source system, choose Tools ® Administration ® User Maintenance ® Users and create a background user with a password and the authorization profile S_BI-WX_RFC.
    2.     Define the RFC destination parameters for the SAP source system in BW. To do this, choose Tools ® Administration ® Administration ® Network ® RFC Destinations in BW.
Enter the information taken from the source system on the server name.
    u2022     Application server: pswdf090
    u2022     System ID: IDF
    u2022     System number: 90
The destination name has to correspond to the logical name of the source system that you entered for the process step Define Logical System in the implementation guide for the source system. For user and password, enter the background user that you created in step 1.
    3.     Define the RFC destination parameters for the SAP BW in the source system. To do this, select Tools ® Administration ® Administration ® Network ® RFC Destinations in the source system. Enter the server name information taken from the BW system.
The destination name has to correspond to the logical name of the BW system that you entered in the process step Define Logical System in the BW Customizing Implementation Guide. ALE communicates using the name of the SAP Business Information Warehouse that you defined. The defined name represents how the SAP Business Information Warehouse is identified. For the user and password, enter the background user that you defined in the BW Customizing Implementation Guide under Business Information Warehouse ® Links to Other Systems ® Link Between SAP Systems and BW.
    4.     Test both RFC destinations with the functions Test ® Connection and Test ® Authorization.
If an error occurs during the authorization check, the background user is not permitted in this client and with this password. If an error occurs in the connection test, it means there is a network problem.
    5.     In the BW Administrator Workbench choose SOURCESYSTEMTREE ® Root ® Context Menu (right mouse button) ®Create and select the radio button for the manually creating an SAP source system.
    6.     Enter a description for the source system and the logical name of the source system that you entered for the process step Maintain Logical System in the source system implementation guide.
If you still have any issues, let us know.
    Regards,
    Yogesh.

  • Not able to change source system connection

Hi, I have problems changing a source system connection from BW. BW is already connected to source system A, which is closed down, and I'd like to connect BW to source system B, which excists and can be accessed. I have tried to use BDLS, but get the message that System B already excists (new one). I try to delete it (Change view logical System), but am not allowed to do this. I get the message "must not be deleted, first delete from distribution model." And thats where I am stuck. Can anyone guide me on my way?
    Regards E!

    Comment to the last answer:
When I try to delete in SALE I am told that the source system also excists in the Distribution Model (CUA) and can therefore not be deleted. It must be deleted in the distribution model first. I find CUA at BD64. Looks like this is the connection to Solution Manager. What are the consequences for deleting the Source System here? And will it hlep me to solve my problem, which is that I can't change my connection from Source System A to new Source System B?
