Will Elements 12 accept colour profiles from commercial printers?

I am currently using Elements 10. I have most of my printing carried out by a commercial company. (DSCL).Apparently, Elements 10 will not "accept" colour profiling, I am therefore submitting material and, literally, hoping for the best, as most of the resulting prints bear little resemblance to that displayed on my monitor.The monitor is calibrated. Does Elements 12
"accept" colour profiling ?.

iPhoto doesn't like psd files from anywhere. JPEG and TIFF are the way to go. Why are you keeping duplicate copies of all your photos? Eventually you should choose one organizer or another. Aside from making you crazy, you'll run of disk space pretty fast, unless you have hardly any photos.

Hi, I'm helping StringSinger2 with this problem.
The previously installed version is Pages 3.0.3 (the same as from iWork 08). This version (Pages 3.0.3/iWork 08) is incompatible with Pages 5.
That is why it would be helpful to install iWork 09, which is the version between the two. It will open the older 08 files, and its saved files are readable by the new Pages5.

When I try to install iWorks 09 from my retail DVD the error message is "the installer is damaged". (I know the dvd is good, I installed iWorks09 to my laptop today.) Is the "installer" part of the system files? And - If that is damaged is there a patch for that?

8600plus (OS X) will not accept print request from the registered add at hpconnect

HP 8600 plus OS X, will not accept a print request from the registered address at hpconnect but will print a request from the address that comes on the printer. I have tried to change the factory settings and i get a message from Hp connect that there is a printer error.

You need to update the iOS. You need iOS 2 or later for apps. See the following to get the last update for the 1G iPod.

FC will not accept MP4 converted from Handbrake.

I used Handbrake to convert a DVD(not a copyright issue) to a MP4 file.I-Movie will accept it, but not FC. FC will not let me bring it over from I-Movie either. Gives this message, file Error:1 file recognized, 0 access denied, 1 unknown. Any ideas, how I can get FC to recognize the file.

Handbrake is not the right app to convert DVD video for editing in FCE. (Technical reasons in the conversion process.)
You should use MPEG Streamclip instead. It's free. However, you also need the QuickTime MPEG2 Playback Component if you don't already have it on your Mac. ($20, downloadable from the Apple Online Store).
In MPEG Streamclip, convert the video to QuickTime using either the Apple DV/DVCPRO-NTSC or Apple Intermediate Codec compression scheme.

MacBook will not accept all photos from Iphone 4

I need assitance with downlaoding all images from my I phone to my macbook 4, an error message continues to prevent them from completing the downlaod thereby taking up my memory, and fear of losing photos because the downloads will not complete.

Want to share a bit more information - like what the error message is - what version of iPhoto - what version of the OS - any other info that might help someone who only knows what you tell them see what is going on so they could possible help you?

How do you add a icc colour profile to a mac

I need to add the icc colour profile of the printers that print my photographs onto my computer so when i do the little post production I know what im getting from them. Any ideas how this can be done.

There are two library folders where you could install them:
To install for all users install in
Macintosh HD > Library >ColorSync>Profiles
To install only for yourself install in
Your Home Folder > Library >ColorSync>Profiles

Using colour profiles with Windows XP Pro SP2

Hi,
Freshly-installed WIndows XP Pro SP2 on the Unibody MBP.
I note that in the advanced display settings there is a tab for colour management. It offers the opportunity to add a .icc or .icx (I think) colour profile. I copied across my .icc-prefixed colour profile from my Leopard install, added it, and Windows reports it as invalid.
Can anyone tell me how (or whether it's possible) to make a Leopard-created .icc profile work with XP Pro SP2? If it's not possible, can someone suggest some free software for XP Pro SP2 that I can use to achieve a similar result?

Got the error message 3256 after downloaded latest itunes version 8.xx.
After days of reading logs and bullentin boards, uninstalling, hard resets,firewalls experiments, etc, I found solution for me. Following firmware upgrade to airport express solved. When you go to Apple download center and search for airport revisions only the MAc version pops up. However they do have this one for windows. Give it a try. Good luck.

Colour profiles within PS are off for one monitor only?

I'm having a very strange issue with colour management in Photoshop CS2 currently.
Photoshop seems to be calibrating all documents in a strange way on only *one* monitor. If I drag the file across to the other monitor the colour is completely different.
Of course it sounds like my monitors being off, however when dragging the file across monitors Photoshop slowly updates the colours for the next monitor. You can see it display the wrong colour at first, then correct it (hopefully that makes sense).
Another symptom of it is when I go to 'save for web'. Here, the colours revert to what I believe are correct.
b It's worth noting that this has only started to happen since some Windows updates. One being an option update from Dell for my monitor - I can't seem to find any information about it though!
My tester that I've been using is a plain white to black gradient. What I'm seeing is a lot of cyan in the middle of the gradient. I've saved off an example:

As you can see, all the greys are very green, but if you look at the gradient tool in the toolbar itself, the grey appears fine.
I'm unsure how I can adjust the colour profile from Photoshop for one monitor - am I missing something really obvious here?
Just to note: I'm on Win Xp SP2, Photoshop CS2, and I've cleared the preferences.

Since you only mention Photoshop as having a problem, this is almost
certainly, as you suspect, a monitor profile config problem.
Color profiles for individual monitors are configured in
Start>Settings>Control Panel>Display>Settings>(Advanced Button)>Color
Management.
In Settings, click on the monitor whose profile you want to verify before
clicking on the "Advanced..." button. I would start by adding and
defaulting the profile for the monitor that is causing problems.
The Microsoft XP color control panel applet makes setup easier, though it
is not really necessary. If the link below fails, google for keywords

Colour profiles in Photoshop CS4

I'm confused about colour profiles in CS4. I have set colour settings to sRGB and view-proof set up to sRGB as that's what my printing service work with. My Nikon D90 shoots RAW and I've set imported images to keep the sRGB colour profile from the camera. Yet in metadata I'm seeing colour mode RGB and colour profile untagged. What's wrong and how do I fix it?

Thankyou Noel. I can now save as individual photos in sRGB, but I still don't understand why they are coming through as RGB or how to bulk change that. Also, colour mode is still in RGB and I confess I don't know how that affects images or how to change it. Any advice please?

Colour profile change when logging in

Hi,
For some reason, the other day, after i ran the app 'sleep display', the contrast or saturation of the colours changed on the screen just as the screen was about to turn off, and when i moved the mouse to turn the monitor back on, the colours looked really wierd.
Now, every time i log in, the colour profile is loaded, and to sort it out, i need to hook up my external monitor to it, and then when i remove the external monitor, the colours are fine. when i log into another account, no other colour profile is loaded, so the colours are fine.
Does anybody know how i can remove this colour profile from starting up when i log in?

I had a brainwave, and checked 'universal access' and for some reason, the enhance contrast had been enabled some how.

Acrobat will not accept license code after installing cs4 premium upgrade

We just upgraded to CS4 premium, from CS3 premium. In doing so acrobat replaced Acrobat 8 pro with Acrobat 9 pro.
All our tools only work in Acrobat 8 pro, so we unistalled the Acrobat 9 pro and the software will not accept the keys from the product boxes that was used to install the software. the 30 day trial period comes up where you can enter a number or buy "version 9".
Is there anything special to fix this mess that anyone has found?
We are a printing company and use tools from enfocus, quite, and other special plugins that only support up to version 8?
Before we totally uninstall CS4 premium we wanted to see if anyone else has had this issuse or knows who to get with at Adobe to get a key that will work for the licensed software.

Colour profiling is provided by reputable photofinishing firms. eg (DSCL) to ensure that an acceptable colour "match" (ie that the image on the client,s monitor is the same as that provided in print form by the firm).Does Elements 12 support this process ?,

The point about whether to use an automatic process or not is a separate issue. I can understand that some people would not want to use it. However, even doing it manually in PE12 does not use the MWG standard.

From that, I draw the conclusion that the PE developers see this as a very low priority. All the more reason for me to look at competitor products that do support this standard (e.g. Picasa and Photo Supreme).

Can you use a photo lab's colour profile in Elements?

Using PSE 6, I want to use a printer profile from a digital photo processing lab, so as to get accurately printed images. (Additonally my monitor is calibrated by a Heuy Pro)
The profile is 'FUJI 570 Supreme Lustre' which I have downloaded from the lab and installed on my Windows Vista PC. Following PSE Help instructions, if I go to the print option then from the drop down Printer Profile list, I can see, choose and select the Fuji 570 profile.
The problem is that this process only seems aimed at then allowing me to click on cancel or print (there is no save option etc). PSE seems to assume that I am connected to the Fuji printer and want to print the image myself, which, of course, I don't but rather want to save this image with the correct profile for the lab's printer and paper-type, so as to send the file(s) for my colour managed image(s) to be printed.
Is there any way that you can save a PSE image file with a colour profile like this in it?
If yes, how is this done?
The lab provides instructions as to how to do this with Photoshop but they are unfamiliar with PSE. In the lab's instructions it refers to View/Proof Set up/custom and unchecking Preserve Colour Numbers, Paper White and Ink Black. Is any of this possible/necessary with PSE 6 (or any later version?)
I have tried to resolve this myself but come to a dead end. If anyone can advise me how to achieve what I want to do, that would be really great or if it can't be done using PSE, to know that would be a great help.
(I have used this lab before without the profiles and whilst the results were good in several respects, some colours, not surprisingly, were not very accuate with my calibrated monitor)

I don't think the Edit>>Colour Settings is going to work as this means that the monitor set up becomes the profile. In my case the Huey profile (which is confirmed as it shows in the print set up preference/settings boxes). Although the Huey profile is important for accurate editing, it will not fulfil the lab'sFuji printer/papers settings.
It looks like PSE does not have any way to save to file with the printer profile (unlike Photoshop). This is a real shame.
It's an interesting issue, as I can't believe that I am the only user ever wanting to use a lab's profile to get better colour management and to use a photographic lab rather than an attached printer.
Anyway, thanks again for engaging in this issue and for your thoughts and advice - much appreciated.
Should I find a way to resolve this, I will post it on the forum.
