  • Erased all Content and Settings on my iPod Touch 3rd Gen

I've erased all my contents and settings on my ipod touch 3rd gen because I wanted a fresh new start. What happened was I clicked accept to erase all the contents and settings then it shut down and it was erasing everything. Now my problem is that it's stuck on the apple logo, it won't load at all. I've tried doing the restart thing with the home button and on button but it just ends up staying at the logo. My computer doesn't detect my iPod touch nor does my iTunes. I'm in serious trouble. I haven't used my iPod touch for 1 month because of this problem. Please anyone help me

Do you have any security software installed? If yes, make sure iTunes can connect to Apple during the restore process: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3125
If this does not help, delete the ipod firmware file (*.ipsw) on your computer, located C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates to make iTunes download a new copy when you connect again in recovery mode. Maybe the file on your computer got damaged. Also make sure to run the latest version of iTunes (9.2.1).
    Good luck.

    Hey there MP1201,
It sounds like you would like to reset your iPod Touch to factory settings but the Erase All Content and Settings function is not working. I would next try using iTunes to restore the iPod with this article:

  • If I 'Erase all content and settings' on my iPod touch will it delete my music?

So yesterday my email changed so I changed my Apple ID email. I did it and typed the password in and stuff and it was fine. Then, it went really dodgy when I logged out of my old Apple ID and in to my new one. It kept popping up on my screen 'username or password for 'iCloud is incorrect' so I went to check my iCloud things and it wouldn't let me log into my new account. Also, it wouldn't receive iCloud mail that I have and it also won't back up my iPod. That's when I thought of resetting my iPod. But, because my Apple ID is dodgy I'm nervous about it deleting music. I've heard you can log out, reset then log in again but I don't know whether I'll be able to... I want to delete EVERYTHING apart from music.

As it says, Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Settings Erases Everything.
Y can do this to move the music to a computer.

However, just what did you do? Could you have created a new account vice change the contact email address?
I no longer have an email address that was also my Apple ID. Can I still use the email address as my Apple ID?
Apple recommends you change your Apple ID to your current, working email address. This will not create another Apple ID, it will only change it to your working email address. See Changing the name you use for your Apple ID if you'd like more information.
Note: @mac.com and @me.com Apple IDs can not be renamed.  If you no longer use the .mac or .me email address be sure to add your valid email address as an additional email address.

  • HT201274 How do I erase all content and settings on my ipod touch when I don't have my password or the original computer?  I can't figure this out and it is frustrating me.  I need to completely reset my ipod touch. I think it is in dfu mode now

How do I erase all the content and settings on my 8GB ipod touch without the password or the original computer?  This is very frustrating and I think I have it in the DFU mode.  I can't seem to figure out how to completely restore this ipod touch.  Please help.

Did you get a message in iTunes that said iTunes found an iPod in recovery mode? If not then you might have not gotten the iPod in recovery mode. Try using this program to get the iPod in recovery mode:

  • Erase All Content and Settings on my iPod Touch

I'm trying to delete an old email address from my iPod Touch. It doesn't show up in Contacts and it has been deleted from my AOL, Yahoo, and gmail Contacts lists both in my iPod and on the laptop I use to synch the iPod. When I open my iPod and click to compose email it doesn't show up in the possible matches pop up while I'm typing the address. However, if I'm writing an email from an open app it does. I think I entered it manually one time rather than from my contacts list and it's stored in my iPod somewhere but I can't find it to delete it. A friend has suggested clicking on the Erase All Content and Settings but I'm not sure if I can re-synch with iTunes to restore apps and music and, if I can, I'm not sure if it will come back when I restore the apps.
I'm asking if that may be a possible solution to my problem and if I do that will I be able to restore content, including any purchased apps by re-synching with iTunes? I'm concerned with losing something I can't replace. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Ok, thanks for the response. I just have two more questions:
    1) In my iTunes when I connect the iPod to my laptop I and click on My iPod, under Apps I get a listing of all my optional apps with boxes to be checked if I want them installed down the left side of the page, with the exception of the standard apps that are included with the iPod, like Photos, for instance, which cannot be removed through iTunes. Am I correct in assuming that these standard apps will automatically be restored when I re-synch?
    2) What about photos I have taken with my iPod? Will I lose those? Is there a way to send them in bulk to my laptop first before erasing everything so that I won't lose the photos I've taken? When I go to the Photos folder in iTunes I can't tell which pictures are there and which are only in the iPod.

  • HT201263 i erase all content and settings if my ipod. but till niw it diesnt appear the apole logo ang still loadng. how us that? please help me

    Please help me

Try this and see if the iPad will boot up. Let the iPad completely restart when you try this.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • Would I be able to access all of my photos and app/game data after I erase all content and settings from my iPod through iCloud?

My iPod Touch 5th Gen. isn't syncing to my computer and I've alread backed it up to iCloud plenty of times. So my question is if I erase EVERYTHING back to factory settings and set it back up as a new iPod can i reaccess all of my photos and app/game data?

If you restore from iCloud backup all your photos in your Camera Roll album and all your iTunes purchases that were on the iPod will be restored. Photos that were synced to the iPod and non-iTunes purchases like music ripped from CDs will not be restored.

  • Is it possible to hide "Erase All Content and Settings" using Apple Configurator?

How we can hide "Erase All Content and Settings" button from iPod devices using Apple Configurator? we have purchased these devices under enterprise deployment.

not at all. for the moment we handle this problem by writing an image everytime we (think we) have to update the itunes u content. an update becomes necessary when users give us the iPad back and we recognize that there is good new stuff on it or whenever colleagues tell us to do so.
With a new rollout of this image we offer new itunes u content on our iPads.

  • HT201274 I was given an iphone 4s by my sister as she got a new one, now i want to clear it so that i can set it up with my own details, if i erase all content and settings will this affect anything on her new iphone as it is synced to the same gmail acco

I was given an iphone 4s by my sister as she got a new one, now i want to clear it so that i can set it up with my own details, if i erase all content and settings will this affect anything on her new iphone as it is synced to the same gmail account

her contacts are connected directly with the Google Server so as long as they are saved to her Gmail account she should be 100% fine.. the only contacts she may lose are the ones that she added directly onto the phone and did not sync to her Gmail account.. so you should just double check with her on that

  • HT5661 i have an iphone 3 i am selling .. if i go to erase all content and settings .. will the apps still be on the phone .. i've never been able to add apps to this phone and don't want to lose them

how do i prepare my iphone 3 to sell ..
i've never been able to download new apps so i don't want to lose the apps that are on there
am i to reset all settings? or erase all content and settings? or reset network settings?

Only the apps that are part of iOS will remain on the phone.
If you're going to sell it, use "Erase All Content and Settings".
If you're selling it, what difference does it make to you if the apps get erased? You don't have the legal right to transfer any apps you bought to anyone else.  Not to mention the fact that you stated you have never been able to download new apps...
Why don't you just re-post the question in your native language.  There are so many contradictions in your post that i don't believe you're conveying the questions you think you are.

  • HT201274 i have ipod 2nd generation and i had reset   Erase All Content and Settings it is longer than 3 hrs it is still showing apple logo and blink like if it will restart but again it shows the same logo!! is it all right with the erasing...??? i am co

For a 1G and 2G it can take hours. Make sure it is connected to a charging source otherwise the battery can fully drain before it is done. If still problem
    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • HT201274 i want to erase all content and settings from my old iPad and give to my kids. Will I immediately lose all of the apps and content on my iPhone and my new iPad that have the same info as the old one

i want to erase all content and settings from my old ipad and was wondering if the same content will be lost on my iphone and new ipad. all under same apple id

No. Your other devices will be unaffected.
Just tap Settings -> General -> Reset -> Erase all content and settings.

  • If I backup my iPhone in iTunes then "Erase All Content and Settings", will I still be able to restore the iPhone?

I am asking this because my iPhone 4S is really starting to slow down. And I think is mainly due to the deleted text messages bug (i.e., they are still searchable in spotlight!), therefore not deleted off my phone and slowing it down. There are big delays opening up apps (especially Messages) and now, sometimes,  my phone won't even vibrate when texts come in. I also just want to completely wipe the slate clean and start fresh, but I still would like to save the SMS conversations I already have. So I guess what I am afraid of is wiping my phone then iTunes sees the phone as a completely new phone and not "Drew's iPhone" therefore making a restore impossible. Would this be an issue at all?? Thank you!

If you restore your phone as new - your text message will be deleted from the phone.
If you erase all contents and settings and then restore from a backup, your text message will still be there.
