Will excel 2008 work with Lion?

will excel 2008 work with Lion?

Yes. 2004 won't, because it's a PPC app, but 2008 should work OK.

  • Will "Word"  2008 work with LION?

"Open XML for Word" shows up as PPC,what does that mean for my version of Word, Version 12.3.0????   Thanks, Bill

Word 2008 is a universal application, meaning it will run on both PowerPC and Intel systems. OpenXML for Word is intended for Office 2004, Word 2008 being able to natively open the newer Word document format, so OpenXML being PowerPC-only will not be a factor.
How compatible Word 2008 will be with Lion, though, is unknown at this time. We'll have to wait for either official details from Microsoft or for Lion to be released so that people can test and report on compatibility.
    Regards.

  • Will iPhoto '09 work with Lion?

Will iPhoto '09 work with Lion? Since I upgraded to Lion when I open a Facebook album in iPhoto I get the message "An error occurred with the publication of (album name)". The album was submitted successfully long ago. One of a few new quirks since the upgrade.

Crap. I think I might be out of luck. I'm trying to put it on a 2011 Mac Mini. And the new iPhoto is such crap by comparison.
I wonder if they dumbed it down so people would buy Aperture.

  • Does entourage 2008 work with lion?

Does Entourage 2008 work with Lion? I have heard conflicting reports...
    Thanks

Since En'rage does so many things the conflicting reports probably have to do with whether the program is being used just for mail, just for the calendar, or for both. For what its worth, I'm not happy with the 2011 version's performance in Lion. I've gone back to Mail and began using BusyCal

  • Will office 11 work with lion and old doc files?

I updated to Lion and my old office will not work... will office 11 be able to read and use my old office files ...word and excel?

Office 2011 will work with Lion, old doc files will work with 2011 as long as MS hasn't done something in Office 2011.  I have had no problems with files from as far back as office 2003 with 2011.

  • Will photoshop CS5 work with Lion

I need to get a new photoshop, mine is out of date. Will Photoshop CS5 work with OS 10.7.2? Adobe doesn't include 10.7.2 in their tech specs.

I have it and it runs fine on Lion.

  • Will iWeb 06 work with Lion?

Like the title states, Will the original iWeb still work with Lion? I can't stand the new versions and the old iweb always works perfect for me. Any ideas?

If you want to continue to use iWeb, then when Lion is released, I would use the latest version which is iWeb 09 that was part of either iLife 09 or iLife 11.
iWeb 09 has been tested and has been found to work with Lion.

  • Will MS Office 2008 work with Lion?

I purchased Lion but cancelled the download when I read that people were having trouble running MS office programs on the operating system. Does anyone know how well MS office 2008 applications run, if at all, on Lion? Thanks!

I have two friends who say for sure 2011 works.
2008 apparently is being told not supported.
did you do a clean install or just an upgrade on the os?
when using 3rd party apps it is important to back up all your work, and do a clean install of the os, wiping everything, then reinstalling the apps.
there is a trick to doing a clean install. You can find the instructions in this thread.  WHY apple has made it literally IMPOSSIBLE for average mac users to easily choose the option of a clean install with Lion is a mystery to me.  With Lion Apple remotely has control of your operating system. They can change and update anything on it that they see fit without your knowing they even did.

  • I was reading an earlier post about upgrading to 10.9.2 and still using Office for Mac Excell 2004.  Will Excell 2004 work with OS 10.9.2 or is there an Open Office I can use?

I currently have 10.9.2 and just purchased Office 365.  The 365 won't work for what I want to do.  Need to go backe to Excell 2004.  Is there anyway to do this with my current OS?  Need to interface with a Windows 2003 Excell user.

Need to interface with a Windows 2003 Excell user.
First, MS Office 2004 will not work on versions of OS X Lion or later including your 10.9.2.  On Mavericks you need Office 2011.
Second, the difference between Excel formats in Office 2008/2011 vs. earlier versions of Excel is that Office 2008/20011 uses the ".xlsx" filetype but earlier versions including Windows Excel 2003 use the older ".xls" filetype.  The older versions of Excel can't open the newer ".xlsx" filetype ... but there is a way you can exchange Excel files between the newer and older versions of Excel!
In Office 2008/2011 just SAVE AS Excel 97-2004 Workbook (.xls) if you need to use or exchange your Excel file with earlier versions of Excel, Windows or Mac.  And, going the other way, Excel 2008/2011 can open and use the older .xls files just fine.

  • Will iMovie6 HD work with Lion

I refuse to use any other Apple movie program other than iMovie6 HD even though I have Final Cut Express.
Since I am not going to use ver. 7 thru 9  I need to stay with an operation system that will run iMovie6.
    Has anyone tried it yet?
    Harold

I can't help but wonder how many of us are still using iMovie6 HD at this point.  I have everything in this program that I think I will ever need.  It is very reliable, full of features and very easy to work with.
I wish Apple would bring it back as an intermediate program and charge for it.  As I stated in 2011 I will not be able to upgrade my system until they do.  I am hooked on ver.6. and use it multiple times daily.
I did try ver. 8 when it came out and did not like it at all.

  • Will idvd 5 work with lion?

Since idvd is not included in the new imac I was wondering whether it will work with an old version like 5 or do I need to upgrade to ilife 11?

    Hi
    Most probably not.
iDVD 5.0.2, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK - DON’T work under Leopard or later.
Mac OS X.5.0    Leopard - Full UNIX, Full 64-bit - no Classic code any more.
I would buy iLife'11 as fast as possibly - Nobody tell's for how long this will be possibly.
    Yours Bengt W

  • Will  Office 2008 work with OSX Mavericks?

Should like to install Mavericks but want to be sure that my Office 2008 will work.

It's supported in Mavericks and will work unless something goes wrong during or after the upgrade.

  • Will my MacBook Pro from 2008 work with the Thunderbolt Display? Or will I need an adapter?

Will my MacBook Pro from 2008 work with the Thunderbolt Display? Or will I need an adapter? I like to have two monitors and currently using an Cinema Display from 2005. Thanks

If your computer does not have Thunderbolt you cannot use a Thunderbolt display.  There are no adapters that will help.
