Will facetime on Mac work in the UAE?

I may be relocating from the USA to Dubai (UAE) for work. My question: Will FaceTime on my Mac (that I bought in America) work in Dubai? I have read that the government blocks certian websites. I want to be able to video chat back home if possible. Thanks in advance!

Facetime is blocked on devices sold in the UAE, but I've not heard of the ports used by Facetime being blocked, so it should work when using a non-UAE Mac. Perhaps someone who has visited the UAE and tried to use Facetime can confirm, though.
Regards.

  • Will iPad2 or newer iPad 3G work in the UAE if I buy it here in the USA?

I live and work in Abu Dhabi, UAE. I want to purchase an iPad2 or the newest iPad here in the USA while I am on vacation this summer. I want to buy one with 3G capability. Will it work in the UAE? How do I do this? It is much cheaper to buy one here.

As long as you buy the GSM/AT&T model, not the Verizon model of iPad 2, it should work with any UAE cell carrier that offers a suitable data plan. Note, though, that you may well not be able to obtain warranty service in the UAE for a US-sold iPad, should that ever be needed, since the UAE requires special restrictions on any UAE-sold iPad and so there may be no US-model replacements available.

  • Does Microsoft Entourage 2008 for mac work with the new Mac OS X v 10.7 Lion

Does Microsoft Entourage 2008 for mac work with the new Mac OS X v 10.7 Lion?
I am just about to install Lion just need to check to see if if my work e-mail will work

    Sarah,
    Check this link:
    http://roaringapps.com/app:2533
It contains some issues that people have encountered with Lion and Office 2008. It appears it can work, but you may have to go through some of the steps a few of the posters there have listed.
That website also contains a pretty large list of applications and if they will work with Lion.
Hope this helps! (I am not affiliated in any way with the site linked).

  • Will Quicken 2005 Mac work in OS X Mavericks ?

Will Quicken 2005 Mac work in OS X Mavericks ?
I currently have OS X 10.6.8 & would like to upgrade to OS X Mavericks.  I'm using Quicken 2005 Mac & it meets my needs, so would like to keep it.  I looked at the newer versions of Quicken & also iBank 4, but they're significantly inferior in features & reports.  Comments & suggestions appreciated.  Thanks!

I believe Quicken for Mac 2005 is a PowerPC application and therefore will not work on OS X Mavericks.

  • Will Shake 4.1 work on the Macbook?

Will Shake 4.1 work on the Macbook? Cause I was reading the requierment and it said " or any Intel Core based Macs."

The current version of Shake also has two other requirements:
    1. AGP or PCI Express graphics card with at least 32MB of video memory and OpenGL hardware acceleration
    2. Display with 1280-by-1024-pixel resolution and 24-bit color
The MacBook does not have either of these. I suppose you could attach an external monitor that runs at 1280 x 1024 or greater, but you might have to hack the installer to get past the AGP or PCI Express requirement.

  • Will "FormEntry for Mac" work on my laptop as well as my iPad?

Will "FormEntry for Mac" work on my laptop as well as my iPad?

    No.
FormEntry for Mac is different thant FormEntry Touch (iPad). FormEntry for Mac is free and is the toolkit you need to create form-based iOS apps that work on iPads and iPhones.
You design your forms on FormEntry for Mac, either sync to your iPad using FormEntry Touch or export your forms to the .form file and email or host it on webserver/Dropbox and have your users load your forms via the Mail app or Mobile Safari.
Both FormEntry for Mac and FormEntry Touch work together and are required to work together. Both apps are free.
    Cheers.

Anyone know if Penryn will be in mac pros within the month?
I've been waiting to get a mac for a long time. Hoping to finally get one with leopard and the new penryn processors.

There has been some talk that Apple would announce upgrades to their Mac Pro line today to follow up on Intel's announcement. However, the top of range 3.0 Ghz Quad-core CPUs are 'only' available in their 80 Watt design yet (same consumption as current quad models used in the eight-core). Now, with Intel having announced a 65W version and Apple's drive for VERY low noise level, I'd not be surprised if Apple were to hold back until the 65 Watt edition is available.
But these are just my personal musings, I have no inside information.

  • Does "windows on a mac" work on the macbook air?

Does "windows on a mac" work on the macbook air? because watching the video, is says somthing about an installation disk. Many thanks

    Hi pglhi,
You can absolutely install Windows onto your MacBook Air. There's two ways to do it:
    1.) Using BootCamp
    2.) Using virtualization software
If you use BootCamp it natively installs the Windows operating system on a portion of your hard drive that you partition as a dedicated Windows environment. You typically want to allow about 15-20 GB for this at a minimum but your mileage may vary.
With virtualization software you run Windows from within the OS X environment, using a program like Parallels Desktop, VMWare Fusion, etc. So you'd launch the Windows OS just like you'd start up a program. Because you're virtualizing the environment you're also "double dipping" into system resources. So the RAM and CPU usage that WIndows would be allocated is in addition to what's already being used by OS X. As such it can be a bit more demanding than a Boot Camp environment.
But the MacBook Air can handle both, just fine. If you do go the route of Boot Camp you'll need an external CD/DVD drive - or - have USB drive configured to support the Windows installation environment.

  • Will weblogic 4.5 work with the Sun Java Servlet Development Kit Version 2.1?

Will weblogic 4.5 work with the Sun Java Servlet Development Kit Version 2.1
(JSDK 2.1). The reason I want this is we want our application servlets to
use the new 2.1 redirection mechanism to redirect to JSP files.

WL 4.5 supports JSP 1.0 (and, therefore Servlet 2.1).
What I want to know is when will it support JSP 1.1 (and, therefore Servlet
              2.2)!

  • I bought my iPhone in the USA; will facetime work in the UAE?

I bought my iPhone in Oklahoma, USA. Will facetime work on it when I'm in the UAE?

Carriers lock phones.  Only Carriers can unlock them.  Contact the carrier to whom your phone is locked.  See if they allow unlocking, and if they do, what the qualifications are.

  • IPad (Retina) on iOS 6.01 bought in UK and brought to Dubai, iMessage and Facetime activated and worked in the UK but now will not activate at all. Can anyone help...

    Hi
I got an iPad (Retina) on iOS 6.01 as a gift in the UK and brought to Dubai.
My Facetime/iMessage activated and worked in the UK just fine but now (even with VPN) will not activate at all.
    Can anyone help...

    Hi Bob
With all due respect I think you are missing my point.
I'm aware that on Apple devices bought in UAE these apps are blocked and theres nothing that can be done there. My device is bought in the UK so it has Facetime and it worked fine.
I know categorically that iMessage works in Dubai without issue for almost everyong I know on an iPhone, I also know from seeing it that Facetime + VPN works as this gives your device a UK IP.
My question is not the obtaining of these apps but why even with a VPN mine are not working when others in Dubai are?
    Thanks
