Facetime between iPad2 and MacBook Air worked fine here in the USA.  The iPad2 is now in Rome, Italy and we can't connect internationally.  We both can hear the caller ringing in and can see who is trying to call, but after accepting the call we cannot connect.  No voice, no video. iPad is successfully sending and receiving eMails, but no Factime connection   What's up?

I am curious if possibly the hotel has some sort of VOIP block on.  Have you tried Skype?  Did you talk to the hotel staff?  My husband is traveling to Milan in a couple of days and I wonder if he will run into the same issue.  He has had no problems from Istanbul but he is staying in a corporate apartment there.  If you find an answer please post back.  Thanks

  • A problem to sync emails in Mail app between iMac and Macbook Air

    Hello members,
I have had a problem that can't sync emails in Mail app(OSX Mavericks) betwee iMac and Macbook Air. I have iCloud mail account and several Gmail accounts on the mail app.
Is there anyone to help me?

When both are at home on the same network and sharing drives, you can use a variety of tools.  Check the App store for fily syncronization.  Also, OS X includes rsync if you are a UNIX command line person, and there are shareware GUI's for rsync as well (RsyncX was one I remember).  Then there are commercial tools like Chronosync.
Another, albeit to my mind cumbersome way, is to use an airport time capsule and time machine.  You use TM to backup each machine, and use the option in TM to browse another TM backup to restore from (eg. come home from a trip, backup the MacBook Air, then log on to the iMac, browse to the MBA backup volume and restore what you recently worked on from there).
Or get a NAS device for home and use that as a common personal form of dropbox.  The key would be keeping a neat uniform directory structure for the things you need sync'd - like maybe just the Documents folder & subfolders.

  • Sharing photos between IPad and MacBook Air

    Hi
How can i import some photos recorded into my IPad and save them into my MacBook Air? I mean, how can i share photos between those equipment?
    Thanks
    Jorge

The simplest and most efficient way would be to use Photo Stream as described here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2605
Photos on your iPad will immediately appear on your MacBook Air in iPhoto -- as long as your MacBook Air is reasonably recent and OS X and iPhoto are current.

  • Back to my Mac - will it work between iCloud and MobileMe?

Just updated my MBookPro to Lion so it would work with iCloud and my new 4S. Everything moved over OK but there's one thing I'm concerned about: will Back to My Mac work now between machines that are not part of the iCloud account? I ask this because my Mac Pro at the office is still on Snow Leopard (and may remain that way, since I use it for editing+graphics and prefer to keep it clean and stable) and I use BtMM all the time to look at the MacPro while I'm at home. I took the precaution of logging out of MobileMe on the MacPro before I moved the account to iCloud on my laptop so there wouldn't be any weirdness. I imagine that if I went and logged in on it now I would no longer have the option of using BtMM on the same Apple ID anymore, yes? I have another Apple ID that's still under MobileMe, so I wonder if I could start using that one now on both machines under the old MobileMe system pref and link the two machines back together?

UPDATE: forget about signing in with a different MobileMe account once you've signed in to iCloud; even though both prefs exist, Lion will NOT let you sign in to both iCloud and MobileMe at the same time, even if they're different accounts.
Grrrr...guess it's back to Remote Desktop for me.

  • IPhoto library won't share between iMac and macbook air

I have all the sharing preferences turned on, and the libraries show up in the iPhoto on my macbook air, but I am unable to access them. One library just pinwheels as soon as I click on it, and the other opens and then auto-ejects within 5 seconds of clicking on it.
    Anyone have any ideas?

As a relatively new Mac user I'm not sure how the networking function works. I have a large iTunes library... 150GB+. What I'd like to do is to keep the library on my iMac, but be able to access it using a MBA.
have you considered using _*Screen Sharing*_ ?

  • File sharing is not working between iMac and MacBook

I had been sharing files between my iMac and MacBook.  My settings haven't changed and all of the sudden my shared files aren' t showing up in the sidebar.  Firewall settings show to allow file sharing.

I had much the same problem except that it was a PB running 10.4.11 to a G4 running same.
    Check this article - http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20070226213016446
The PB could connect to an iMac with no problem and the G4 could connect to the PB and iMac and vice versa.
Turns out that com.apple.ByteRangeLocking.plist had been deleted from the G4 Root Library at some point. Copied it from the user preference file and everything now works again.

  • Transferring photos between iPad and MacBook Air

I've been trying to copy photographs from my iPad to my wife's MacBook Air and I can't find a way to do it. Is it possible to use AirDrop to move stuff from an ios device to an OSX device? Using DropBox is painfully slow, and BEAM doesn't work. Surely it must be possible? Airdrop on the MacBook doesn't see the iPad and vice versa, though they're both on the same wi-fi network and sitting centimetres from each other.

You cannot do it with AirDrop. Following quote is from iOS: Use AirDrop to wirelessly share content
You can't use AirDrop on iOS to share with OS X users, and OS X users can't use AirDrop to share with iOS devices.
You can do it via Photo Stream iCloud: My Photo Stream FAQ
Or as I do, via USB cable: iOS: Import personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
And there are 3rd party apps such as http://www.photosync-app.com

  • How much will Facetime cost between England and Canada?

Also, I'm travelling to Italy and would like to know if it will cost me anything to Facetime with my parents back in Canada?

FaceTime is connected under a few conditions:
Each user must have an email account associated with the device they are using (iPhone, iPad, iPod, Mac). FaceTime will ping that email account and attempt to connect to video if WiFi is active.
If an email is not provided, the user needs to call the cellular of the user then press FaceTime.
If WiFi is unavailable, you won't be able to contact them at all.
A second option that is available is installing App-App VoIP which uses cellular and WiFi data calling (Skype to Skype, etc). Note that both users must have the same app active and online. Otherwise, nothing will go through.

  • Transferring photos between ipad and macbook air (not photo stream)

Photos were originally on my IMac 10.6.8.  Put them on my Ipad (I think it's the 2nd one).  Now I want to put the photos from my ipad to my macbook air.  I have photo stream set up on both but I think because they were not taken on my ipad or originally downloaded from a camera to my ipad photo stream doesn't send them to my macbook via photo stream.  How do I get them from the ipad to the macbook air 10.8.4?
    Thanks, Kate

You can also use 3rd party apps like Photo Transfer App.

  • How do you easily switch Bluetooth headset between iPhone and MacBook Air

I Have a Bluetooth headset that can pair between my mac and my iPhone individually.  However I only want my phone when I'm out and when I get home, id like to click the Mac and pair the headset without having to set the Bluetooth into the "searching mode".
Wondering if anyone else is having this problem.

For this to work the Drafts Mailbox should be set to live on the server, not locally.
Check in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > [Your iCloud account] > Mail > Advanced > Drafts Mailbox

  • Is there a way to predict which video projectors will not work with the 2012 MacBook Air using the Mini-display to VGA adapter?

I recently upgraded from a 2011 MBA to a 2012 MBA due to the larger capacity SSD.  The 2011 MBA running Lion and Mountain Lion worked with every video projector for lectures.  The new 2012 MBA is hit or miss with video projectors.  It is not an adapter problem.  I have multiple Apple mini-display to VGA adapters with the latest firmware.  They all work just fine with the 2011 MBA. Re-starting the 2012 MBA with the adapter and projector connected has not helped.
It it not acceptable to have a laptop that works with projectors some of the time.  Apple is aware of the problem.  Is the only choice to go back to the 2011 MBA?
    RC

I installed 10.8.2 update today with my 2012 MBA.  The details of the update include:  Resolves a video issue with some VGA projectors when connected to certain Mac notebooks.
I tried using the MBA with a video projector and it found the correct resolution and connected with the projector automatically.  Using detect displays in the disoplay preference pane wasn't even necessary.
I hope this is the fix I have been waiting for with the 2012 MBA.
    Thank you Apple.

  • Issue with comcast sent email syncing between IPad and MacBook Air

When sending email from comcast account on my iPad the emails  don't show up in sent mail on my MacBook mail application, why not? This is a problem when following up on key communications during a consulting project.

That's because Comcast for the majority of account uses POP email, and with POP all sent and downloaded mail is local to the device. Received mail can be set not to be automatically erased from the server and hence downloaded and read on multiple systems, but sent mail is not and can only be viewed in the sending system. Hence you have to sync the email by some other means, such as through iTunes to see it all on multiple devices.
Comcast does have a "beta" of IMAP, where all mail, send and received, is kept on their servers. If you're interested in that, see:

  • Latest version of Flash Player doesn't work in Imac and Macbook Air 10.6.8

Flash Player is not working in my Imac nor in MBA, after installing and reinstalling latest version of FP many, TOO MANY times for the past week.
I haven't found any answer in the forums for Mac users.
I'm using Safari 5.1.9 and my OS is 10.6.8. Javascript is allowed under security tab.
The error I get in Youtube says that I need to install the latest FP version to play videos, then gives me the link to download FP. I also get error in other websites like Google maps, when I try to do a "street view" for example, and TV on demand.
Please Help! Should I revert to installing an older version? I wasn't having this problem until I updated to FP 11.8...
    Thanks

Download the offline installer here: http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/mac /install_flash_player_11_osx.dmg
Mount the DMG and run the installer
If it won't run, go to: Mac HD/Library/Internet Plugins
Trash the Flash Player.plugin file from there
    Go to: Mac HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe
Trash the Flash Player folder (the whole folder)
    Empty the trash
    Reboot
Mount the DMG and run the installer again.

  • TS2972 File Sharing Between iPhone and MacBook Air: Please Help

I have trouble retrieving a tone I created (in the Ringtone! App) and then put in the Tones tab in iTunes on my Mac. The syncing of my 4S and my Mac seems to go fine (no problems are flagged). But I do not see the tones on the iPhone after the syncing; I searched up and down the iTunes library. All updates are current.
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you.
    Agnieszka

I have tried using the guest login but get the message "Access denied to this server, contact administrator". I can access the Air from my iMac but even though they are both running Mavverick some of the dialog boxes appear different. And thats even though I have enabled guest login on the iMac
