Will FCE 3.5 work with Apple pro-res source Quicktimes?

A buddy is supplying some footage he shot. He's importing into FCPro and outputting Apple pro-res quicktimes which he's then dumping to a drive for me. I'm curious if I'll be able to work with them in FCE3.5.

No, you won't. The ProRes component only comes with Final Cut Studio and Logic. Have the friend import using an Apple Intermediate Codec setting instead of ProRes, because FCE will work with that.

  • Will USB mobile broadband work with Apple TV?

I am considering to get USB modem so I can use the apple TV anywhere. But I have not purchase the USB modem yet. Click below for more info on USB modem:-
    http://threestore.three.co.uk/broadband/
I was thinking - USB modem is to be connected to my laptop (via USB port), Apple TV is to be connected to my laptop (via ethernet cable).
The questions are when I switch Apple TV on:-
    1. Will Apple TV automatically find the internet?
    2. Will the USB mobile Broadband work with Apple TV (Wireless via my computer)?
    Please advise.

I'm sure it should be someone answering this question who has actually tried this, but given that the tv is not overly portable I'm not sure you will find too many who have.
FWIW, you can use an tv with a direct ethernet connection or ad hoc wifi network between the computer and the tv, so I don't see why a mobile account rather than a static one should make any difference. You would need to set up internet sharing and all that, but my guess is it should work for you. Be aware though, I haven't actually tried this.

  • Having some problems with Apple Pro Res 422 HQ and Hard Drives

    Hey,
I've been having trouble when digitizing video via Apple Pro Res 422. First off I'm using a macbook pro 2Ghz intel core duo/2GB of Ram and my hard drive is pretty much almost full. I've set my scratch disks to a Lacie 1TB drive via USB 2.0. Second of all during the Apple Pro Res 422 capture process in the middle of capture it says that my Internal Drive is almost full and won't let me continue on with capture. I don't get it because everything in the scratch disks are set to my Lacie Drive.

My Lacie has 1 firewire 400 and 2 firewire 800 ports but my computer is an early macbook pro that only has 1 firewire 400 port and 2 USB ports. So yea it kinda of stinks but could you recommend a eSata Express card?

  • Will MOTU 24I/O work with Logic Pro 9?

I am new to Logic Pro having converted from Sonar 7. I have a MOTU 24io and need to connect it to my iMac. I have been racking my brain trying to find help and all I can see is people say no. My former computer had the required PCI 424 card for firewire 400. I am not convinced. Is there a way to make it work?

In principle the 24i/o works great with logic. Your problem is connecting it to the iMac, and that's just not possible. The wire between your PC and the interface is not just firewire. It physically looks like it, but the low level protocol is different. The PCI 424 interface also brings additional HW that you don't have, like a stable audio clock to synchronize the interfaces to. So there is absolutely no way to get it to work with an iMac. You need a mac pro or a PC running Mac OS X.
    Cheers,

  • Will my Kurzweil PC3 work with Logic Pro 9?

I spent months looking for the right keyboard--what I mean by 'right' is one that I felt sounded best.  I ended up with a Kurzweil PC3.
Before I purchase Logic Pro 9, does anyone know if I can use the sounds on board (Kurzweil objects) with Logic Pro  9, instead of using the built-in sounds (objects) in Logic Pro 9? If so, how does one do it?  I don't want to use this beautiful keyboard as just a MIDI controller.

My own setup is similar to your discussion.  I use a Native Instrument Komplete 6 audio unit as the interface for both midi and audio into and out of Logic Pro 9.1.8.  You can set up a Multi-channel instrument in the Logic environment, or use the External Instrument plug-in.  In any case, there is a fair learning curve to get this right, but the multi-instrument in the environment is completely capable of controlling the PC3 if you set up the correct Bank change and program change messages.  There is one major problem that I am having and that is using PC3 Setup mode.  If you set the PC3 into Setup mode and hit some notes, it produces a midi-feedback loop between Logic and the synth, causing the PC3 to go insane if you are connected using the USB port.  This is because the midi out from the PC3 is sent thru the Logic track and back out to the PC3 causing a midi feedback loop.  In program mode it isn't as bad but does cause a small amount of delay echo.  The only way I have got around this so far is to connect using midi cables instead of USB then when recording I disconnect the cable from the Komplete 6 to the PC3 midi in, leaving only the midi cable from the PC3 out to the Komplete for recording to Logic (while monitoring what I am playing via the PC3 audio outputs).  Then when I want Logic Pro to drive the PC3, I disconnect the midi in to Komplete and reconnect the midi out to the PC3.  Playing the recorded Logic track now drives the PC3 without any feedback.  But, there has got to be a better way!  Any ideas would be appreciated.
I think this result is because Logic always sends midi notes thru to midi output.  Is there some way of preventing this?

  • Will Final Cut express work with MacBook Pro??

I am new to Mac and got my first Mac, MacBook pro. 2.4GHZ - 2.o Gig Memory.
Will this be enough or is there an hardware requirement that macbook pro does not come with?
iMovie 08 does not have the effects I was using in the old PC. Slow motion, combining many audio tracks, cross fade etc.
    Thanks

Final Cut Pro is the same program (to all intents and purposes) as Final Cut Express and requires the same power of computer - no more, no less.
For most people, FCP will not do anything that FCE can't - apart from allowing you to use formats such as DVCPRO etc. that amateurs are unlikely to use. All the filters and transitions are exactly the same except for a couple of insignificant ones.
The only reason for buying FCP is in order to get all the other programs that are bundled with it.

  • Will HP Designjet 500 work with Apple Time Capsule?

I have an Apple Time Capsule Base station and was wondering if it would be able to allow my dad's Dell Precisions (M4500 and M4700) to print to it wirelessly. We had a part of our basement finished for his new office and his plotter (HP Designjet 500) is outside the office, about 20ft away from both his laptops and my Time Capsule is on a shelf just above it. I'm just curious as it's an old plotter from like, 2001 so its old.

Really don't know but it is worth a go..
Simply plug the printer into the TC via its USB port.
On the PC load the airport utility for windows, whichever version he uses.. but the latest version utility is 5.6.1 for win7. That will also load bonjour for windows which is a big help to using network resources like printers.. you can then use the airport utility to make sure the TC has picked up the printer.
Then load the printer and have a shot at printing.
    Suck and See.

  • Can I export diaporama with apple pro res codec

    Hi
I want export my daiporama for use in FCP or compressor , butthe codec H264 or Mp4 is too destructive, I want to keep a good quality video, and then optimize the compression.
    Is this possible?
It was possible before i in IPhoto.

The best you could do is use a custom setting like this, that is all Aperture is offering:
    Set it to "Quality: Best"

  • I have a Mac connected to Internet via DSL modem. Just bought iPad (today). What hardware do I need to set up wireless LAN so iPad can be used anywhere in house? Will Linksys work with Apple?

I have a Mac connected to Internet via DSL modem. Just bought an iPad2 and need to know what hardware do I need to add wireless LAN so I can use iPad anywhere in the house. Will a Linksys router work with Apple? Can Mac be "hardwired" and iPad wireless? Probably stupid questions but I need to learn. Thanks.

Thanks for the info. You are correct. I was speaking in general terms here based on my experience with the two devices in day to day use, and not in terms of exact specifications.
A better choice would have been to say that the "coverage" is about the same with the edge going to the Extreme....due to the newer mutliple antenna design.
We sure could use more help on the forums. Hope that you will become a regular.
    Hi Bob
RF is a minefield, but one that I have worked in for ages, the most critical factor in my experience is location, location, location!
Better routers have more intelligently designed antenna systems, output power as I said is the same, radiation pattern (coverage) is dependent on antennas and physical location more than all other factors.

  • Is Apple Pro Res viewable on computers WITHOUT Final Cut installed?

I have used Apple Pro Res to compress 3d animation and it looks great, far better than any codec so far. Now I find that it is only viewable on computers with Final Cut Pro 6 installed.
I am planning to exhibit the work as quicktimes, but need to use computers without Final Cut installed. Is there any way to import the codec into a Quicktime pro library so movies with Apple Pro Res are viewable on computers WITHOUT Final Cut on them???
    Thanks!

ProRes is only licensed with FCP, and can only be installed along with FCP. You could transcode your clips into the Animation codec and try playing them on the other systems.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
AirPlay Mirroring is supported on your Mac, but it needs OS X Mountain Lion (10.8). See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5404
    You have two possibilities:
    1. Make a backup, open App Store and purchase Mountain Lion to upgrade to this OS X. Then, you will find the AirPlay Mirroring icon at the top right of the display, on the menu bar, or on System Preferences > Displays.
    2. Keep OS X Lion and use AirParrot > http://www.airparrot.com
Both options work properly, but I recommend AirPlay Mirroring as it doesn't need a third-party program

Sounds just like what was happening with my Alum MB. I took it in and they replaced my battery. It seems to be ok now. I don't know what it is, but my battery was fine before 10.5.6 and the same timeframe of the firmware updates when they came out.
My battery health was jumping around but was fine before all of this happened. Unfortunately at 381 cycles I don't think you have much chance of getting the battery for free. Perhaps you can complain about the battery saying it was fine until 10.5.6 or whatever. Not sure when your computer was made, but perhaps you are eligible for this program: http://www.apple.com/support/macbook_macbookpro/batteryupdate/

  • 01v96i Yamaha...will it work with logic pro X

I bought the new Yamaha 01v96i Mixer but I can't make it works with Logic pro, in the list of available DAW I only find the 01v96 which is not the same and in-fact it does not work with the 01v96i.
Does anyone have an idea on how to set Logic for it or at least does anyone know if the new Logic Pro X has the new 01v96i in the list?

    Lyford,
Again, in regards to hardware... it is not about LPX compatibility.. It is about compatibility with the OS X version and it's CoreAudio... Once you 'get' that point then everything else makes sense...
Tascam are notorious about leaving owners of "End of Line" products 'high and dry' when OS X is updated... and as you have found... the 1884 is not compatible with Mountain Lion 10.8.4 and likely will never be so... because Tascam will not be releasing Mountain Lion drivers for it.. so, it is not something you can use with LPX, which requires Mountain Lion 10.8.4 as a minimum requirement.
As an aside, Apple have acknowledged they make an error in simply using the LP9 Hardware compatibility chart for LPX (as LP9 could be used with earlier OS X versions for which there were drivers for the 1884 for example) and have said they will be issuing an updated version "in the near future"......

  • Will the Tascam FW-1884 work with Logic Pro X?

    Hello,
I notice that the new Logic is 64 bit only and yet the Tascam FW-1884 is specifically listed as a supported control surface.
Tascam has not released 64 bit drivers for this device!  Can anyone shed any light on this?  Will it work only as a control surface and not an audio interface?  Is the documentation in error?  Anyone have this working with Logic Pro X?
    Thanks,
    Lyford Rome
