Will FCE4 support Panasonic DVCPRO format and P2 ?

With allot of new features in the new version 4 is this format supported or is it just supported in Studio?

I have a new Vertex 4 SSD (256GB) to install and want to know whether I need to have that formatted before I install it or will I be able to use a Time Machine backup to perform the format and restore of the Lion OS X and applications? Will I have to get an external SSD enclosure to format the SSD before I install it? Despite the many threads...I am still a little confused as to the exact procedure to use. Most of the threads say use the recovery partition (well if the SSD is new, not formatted) where does this recovery partion reside? Please use the KISS principle when responding...

The only negative to not having the original drive will be the work needed to reinstall all the apps and reconfigure to your liking. You will also have to decide whether to stay on Lion (which you should update to 10.7.4, BTW) or bite the bullet and take a leap of faith on Mountain Lion.
In either case, to simplify matters you would do well to concoct a Lion or ML bootable installer on a USB stick. In either case, you need to get the corresponding installer downloaded onto the hard drive and, instead of running it to execute the install, extract the coveted InstallESD.dmg image from which you construct the bootable installer. When will Excel Support Tabular Model Table and Column Descriptions via Tool Tip or other display mechanism

I have noticed that SSMS supports tool tips for the Tabular Model (tables and columns) however Excel 2013 doesn't appear to. This is a very important feature to our end users.
Does anyone know when this will be supported?

According to your description, you want to use the tooltip function in Microsoft Excel for the SQL Server Analysis Services Tabular model, right?
I have tested it on my local environment (Microsoft SQL Server 2012 SP1 and Excel 2013), the result is that the feature is not supported currently. It's hard to say the detail date when this will be supported. If this feature is enabled, Microsoft will announce
it on the document.

G56 will not start install after format and copy from recovery usb

so i just replaced the hdd in this laptop running win7. i am trying to fix the imminent hdd failure message for one of my mother's friends. anywho... i created the usb flash (13.5gb) and then replaced the hdd. went into the bios and enabled usb floppy and moved it up in boot order.
the pc boots into recovery fine. it formats and copies the files over also. what it will not do is reboot into the install of windows. all it wants to do is reload the recovery. i have tried many different ways of getting this done and nothing seems to be working.
at first the floppy was first. now i have it second, after the hdd. i have pulled the usb after the format and copy. i have left it in.
i dont know what else to do. any help from yall would be a wonderful thing.

Sounds like you are using the wrong restore disk to install Mac OS 9. The G5 came with its own restore disks to install Mac OS 9, and that version is 9.2.2. The restore disks for the G5 are labelled such.
If you purchased the G5 used from someone else, and they did not include the original disks, contact them for the disks. And if they lack the disks, ask them to call AppleCare and see if they can get the disks. If you lose the disks, and are the original owner of the machine as a new machine, call AppleCare and see if you can get the disks yourself.

Will JDeveloper support Struts 1.1 and Struts-EL?

I was pleased to see support for the JSTL and usage of EL in the JDeveloper 10G preview, but disappointed to find that the stable release of Struts 1.1 is not included and that the Struts-EL libraries are not included. Are there known plans to ship the release version of JDeveloper 10G with the these features/support?

I would rather use the JSTL tag libs that come from an official JSTL distribution ( JSP 2.0). I was more interested in seeing that support for the Struts specific EL taglibs was eventually going to be included in JDeveloper. Struts HTML-EL taglib and Bean-EL in particular. I don't want to use the Struts Logic taglib as I can get most all that functionality from the JSTL taglibs. There is somewhat of an overlapping that gets confusing because the struts 1.1 ships the JSTL along with the struts-el tag libraries. Let me know if this clarifies what I am looking for.

When will Smartview support display both aliases and members?

In the Essbase classic add-in, users had the ability to display both aliases and member names. When using Smartview with Essbase, this isn't supported. Are there plans to add this back? Thanks.

I heard this is the most requested parity feature of the addin, that Oracle may be doing this sometime in 2010 since it is a complicated fix.

Upgrade to newer versions compatible with Lion or downgrade to Snow Leopard:
Downgrade Lion to Snow Leopard
1. Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard (see below.) I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner 3.4.1.
If you have Snow Leopard Time Machine backups, do a full system restore per #14 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions. If you have subsequent backups from Lion, you can restore newer items selectively, via the "Star Wars" display, per #15 there, but be careful; some Snow Leopard apps may not work with the Lion files.

Will ACR support the different RAW formats of digital cinema cameras like REDCODE or ARRIRAW?

Will ACR support the various formats produced by digital cinema cameras like REDCODE, ARRIRAW and the other ones?
Support for Cineform RAW would be also welcome of course.
The RAW converters supplied by the manufacturers are no comparison IMHO to what ACR offers in terms of sheer image quality, tonal control (especially highlight recovery and rolloff) simple usability and lack of stuff like lens correction just to mention the most important things.
Coming from a photo background I would love to be able to process everything in ACR as a first light correction. :-)
I don't know if this is just a question of implementing it, maybe there are legal reasons aswell why REDCODE for example isn't supported?

Jim, I know ACR was designed to be a still image RAW developer, but it would be a waste not to use it for many still images (a video is not more than that).
But since more and more video cameras are capturing RAW data a debayering suite like ACR will be necessary for video too. Instead of having an importer for every file format, ACR could substitute them with its superior quality and controls, since it already has almost everything that is needed for processing RAW video it would be unwise not to use it (I see use for compressed video from DSLRs for example too).
The only things that I can see that need to be changed are the denoising (needs a good temporal option aswell) and the ability to scrub through a clip and the possibility to create keyframe for the development settings.
I use ACR for timelapse (video) all the time, apart from the slow processing speed (which won't be a problem with future computers) basically everything is already there.
The next step would be directly apply rotobrushes to the RAW data, but even with a computer with the speed you would expect in a couple of years that is probably a bit farfetched (taking into account, that resolution will also at least slightly increase for video).
Premiere should have gotten still frame ACR support with CS6, some might even argue that it should have been in PP since CS5.5.

Panasonic RAW format

Does Photoshop Elements 11 support Panasonic RAW format? (RW 2) If not, is there a fix for this so I can continue to use Photoshop 11?

Support for that camera was added in ACR 8.2. PSE11 only supports up to ACR 7.4 so you'll need to use the DNG Converter. This might help though if you're feeling adventurous - http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1383988?tstart=0 (and includes link to the DNG converter).

Paragraph formats control the formatting of paragraphs in SAPscript whereas Character formats are used for text formatting within paragraphs.
Character formats will have Standard attributes like Bold, Italic, Underline, Font family, Font size etc.
Paragraph formats will standard attributes of Character formats and in addition to this, they will margins, Indents, tabs, Alignments, Line spacing and delimeters.

iOS devices cannot play every format that can be played on other devices. You can convert unsupported formats to a supported format for import to your iOS device.

At least with this first version there is no direct support for P2 media, but don't despair. I've been using P2 media with Final Cut Pro for three years. I have been using Raylight for Macintosh with good results. Raylight for Mac allows direct import of MXF P2 Media into Final Cut (in fact, any program that can work with QuickTime files for that matter. So basically it allows you to skip the Log and Transfer process and simply import QuickTime Proxy files insteas.
I keep all my master media in P2 card folders, one per shoot. Here's my workflow: 1. Shoot with Pansonic HPX170. 2. Transfer P2 media to folder on a RAID-1 hard drive using Panasonics P2CMS utility with verify option turned on, 3. Run Raylight for Mac to create QuickTime Proxy Files, 4. Import QuickTime Proxy Files into Final Cut Pro.
I've tested this today with Final Cut Pro X and it seems to work, but Final Cut Pro X is so new I would not do any mission critical projects with it yet. I'm doing some short throwaways right now to learn how it works, but bread and butter work will continue to be done with Final Cut Pro 7.x for quite some time.

Video format that supports iTunes- appleTV streaming AND DLNA

I have both DLNA support and an Apple TV. I've been converting my dvds to mp4 so I can stream via iTunes to my TV,,Unfortunately mp4 is not compatible with DLNA (mpeg2). Is there a video/audio format, or a software solution, that will work? Of course the simple solution would be for Itunes to support mpeg-2 formation...Any insight?

H.264 video up to 1080p, 30 frames per second, High or Main Profile level 4.0 or lower, Baseline profile level 3.0 or lower with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats
Try using things like MPEG Streamclip, which will enable you to configure a profile
