Will FCP support the new Sony V1U

I'm considering buying the soon to be released Sony V1U. Does anyone know if this camera will be supported by Final Cut right away or will we have to wait for NAB for an update?
Thanks,
Anne

Might need an update to work directly with captured files and all formats it shoots (unless it uses the same protocols that the XDCAM stuff does). Sony says that if you have their HDV devices (deck) you can play thru to it apparently in it's literature. Meaning you can capture it during a playback from the camera I guess. It does record to tape too, right? Sony:
In addition to typical 60i, the HVR-V1U offers 24p/30p progressive scan capture, enabling cinema and drama productions in its compact yet high performance unit. The camcorder also adopts the world's first 2-3 pull-down HDV recording system for storage of the 24p scanned images, keeping your existing HDV1080/60i HDV gear in action. Playback your 24p/30p scan footage using Sony HDV equipment you already have at hand, or feed it to a compatible Non-Linear Editing (NLE) system without changing your HDV deck or monitors - it’s as simple as that."
I'd not be the first on my block to buy one before they are in circulation and someone with first hand experience has reported that there's no hitches...

Does FCP support the new Panasonic AVC Intra codec?
    NOT AVCHD but AVC Intra?
Will it require more rendering or converting before I can use it?
I am looking at buying the HPX-2000 with the new AVC Intra board, recording to P2. AVC Intra is H.264 codec.

I don't think this is supported yet.. but the camera's ability to shoot DVCPROHD certainly is.

  • HT5182 I wonder if iPhoto supports the new Sony DSC-RX100 II camera.

I wonder if iPhoto supports the new Sony DSC-RX100 II camera. I know it is not supported by Aperture. Can anyone help please?

It's the system that supports the RAW formats. So if Aperture doesn't support it neither will iPhoto.
You'll have to wait until a new Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update is issued by Apple for the camera.

  • When will Adobe support the new Canon S100 RAW format in Lightroom (& Camera RAW)?

Just bought a new Canon S100.  It generates RAW files, but Lightroom would not import it as it said it was unsupported.  Any ideas when Adobe will start supporting this new RAW format?

Got mine yesterday and discovered LR and PS didn't recognize the camera.  To make maters worse the Canon software and manuals are on the included disc.  Unfortunately my iMac wouldn't recognize the the disc.  I called Canon and they told me the camera was too new and they couldn't help me. They didn't have another disc they could send me or I couldn't download the software on line.  They told me to check back in a few weeks.  Before I hung up, the rep asked me if there was anything else he could help me with.  All I could do was laugh.

  • Will Jrockit support the new Itanium Montecito chipset ?

    Hi,
I am hoping if someone in BEA can
Q1: inform me of the existing JRockit 5.0 will support the new Itanium Chipset (code name Montecito)
Q2: if there is a new JVM planned for this chipset when it will be available.
I checked the Jrockit product page (http://edocs.bea.com/jrockit/jrdocs/suppPlat/supp_50.html), but didn't find any details.

Well we just tested a couple things and aparently SATA 1 or 2 or both don't work right still. I didn't test exactly which one wouldn't work with the drives, since we just wanted to get his raid setup started. So we have the two drives on SATA 3 & 4 and after multiple reboots, no clicking, and looks like everything works great.
Still need to test and see how it goes after a couple days of use, but seems like everything is running smoothly. Again, thanks for the help!

  • When will Lightroom support the new Nikon D810?

Since today the new Nikon D810 is available in stores. When will this camera is supported by Lightroom?

Just posted to Lightroom Journal Lightroom Journal | Tips and advice straight from the Lightroom team. It's not Lightroom, but since Lr Develop module is based on Camera Raw it's worth a look, sooner rather than later.

  • Will FCP handle the new Panasonic PH Mode?

I was just about to buy a Panasonic AG-HMC150 camcorder, when I noticed this in the fine print of the brochure: "Collaboration to confirm compatibility with the new PH mode is now under way with Adobe, Apple GrassValley, and other partner companies."
PH Mode is Panasonic's highest bit-rate (21 Mbps) compression for their AVCCAM cameras; AVC is apparently a flavor of H264, so you can record full HD on those little SD cards.
Has anyone shot with the AG-HMC150 and tried to bring a PH Mode clip into FCP? Will FCP edit that natively, or do I have to transcode it to ProRes on the way in?
    Thanks in advance, Seth Hill

Well, I went ahead and bought a Panasonic Ag-HMC150. I just tested it by shooting one short clip at 1080P 24P. The clips plays wrong in FCP!
Here are the details: I started a new project in FCP, and first I set Final Cut Pro - Audio/Video Settings to Apple ProRes 422 1920x1080 24p 48 kHz. Then I checked the Sequence Settings, loaded the Sequence Preset to the same settings: Apple ProRes 422 1920x1080 24p 48 kHz.
Then connected the camera though USB to the computer. In FCP, did Log and Transfer. The clip in the camera appeared, and I dragged it down to "Drag Media Here." The little grey bar moved across, and a Clip appeared in my Browser.
But when I double-clip the Clip in the Browser to play it, the audio plays normal speed, but the video plays very fast - looks like almost double speed. The video and audio get completely out of sync! Same thing if I drop the Clip into the Timeline.
    What did I do wrong?

  • How/when will AIR support the new iPad?

I believe that the following will be needed:
    - new placeholders in app xml for the new iPad retina icons
    - a mode that will allow the content done in 'non-retina' iPad to be viewed on new IPad (like the tag that makes iPhone 4 to fill 4 pixels and be used as the iPhone 3)
    - a simulator for all AIR environments, which allows the visualization of the iPad retina display (I guess it will have to have scrollbars for the first time in a mobile phone simulator, since the height is going to be 2048 pixels :-O )
    - anything left on the list?

ok so i guess its 50/50 so far. stretching to big screen works fine but native resolution does not seam to be supported. Meaning i see pixilization on side of the image. if vector is used it should not be a problem (i guess)
for testing i used high res images from here: http://www.zastavki.com/eng/Motocycles/Harley_Davidson/wallpaper-12206-18.htm just to give proper credit to who ever did the image
So for 1st test i used regualr ipad resolution 1024*768 i used HIGH res setings and placed 1280x800 photo obviously it got cut off, some side of the modules pixelazied but oveall model is ok no big digtortion
Next i inputed resolution to be 2048*1536, image now fully fits in, so i would expect it to be rendered nicely on large canvas yet i have same ordrder pixilization (ani alising needed i guess) I may be a bit picky but i consider interface by Apple to be perfect and our image that seams to be well rendering (externally) gets dissorted
    Anyway here is snapshot
Now, lets play with bigger resolution  image... i used 1920x1200 resolution source image and HD canvas. Got image to be displayed almost full screen but sides of the images are not that perfect again.
Now i figure that print screens may not shto artifacts of renderings so i took some photos
As you can see around (5) has sitortion even though there is no on original image. This is photo of last test in HD mode full screen large image.
    Here is another one
So my conclusion so far, is that 1024*768 and 2048*1536 have sa,e result in both case there is some sort of stratching and smoothing applied by player. Logically higher resolution images should look better on "new ipad" but i did not see that in my test.
Maybe i did something wrong but taht what I have so far! Any comments ideas? Lets get this thing to have perefect output... maybe you have other test assets?

  • Does FCP support the new iFrame format?

I know the update was just released for iMovie, and I was thinking of nabbing one of these new Sanyo cams. Sometimes I use FCP for editing though.

Your welcome Nick. I may be wrong, they may add it to FCP, who am I to second guess Apple, but you would of thought they would of put a camera in the new iPod touch too, but they didn't. So... you just never know. I'll certainly let you know if it's in the next update though.

  • Will Element 13 support the new Sony A7 II Camera in RAW?

I recently purchased the Sony A7 II and my old LR does not recognize the files produced by this camera.  I want to purchase Element 13 but before I do I would like to know if I it will work?  Thank you in advance for any help.

Yes, pse 13 will support that camera.
After you install pse 13, you would just have to go to Help>Updates from within the pse 13 editor to get camera raw 8.7.1, which has support for your camera.

I'm after a little more info than an educated guess which I've already made myself...
I can only ask the question.
And it's a question that anybody who knows can't answer...those that know can't say, those that say don't know.
Adobe does NOT offer any advance public warning of updates or betas...they just don't.
And people who work with Adobe doing testing are under NDAs that preclude them from commenting, so the question you asked can't be answered.

  • Will my 2010 Macbook Air that is currently running  Lion 10.7.5 support the new Mountain Lion OS?

I habe an older Macbook air. Its a 2010 and is currently running  Lion 10.7.5. I was wondering if it would be able to support the new Mountain Lion OS?

    In addition to Stedman's spot-on reply --
When you buy an upgrade disk, all updates in that OS can be found on Software Update.
For instance, I bought Snow Leopard at 10.6.
All other updates have been free and downloadable.  So I'm not a 10.6.7.
    10.4 (Tiger) went to 10.4.11.
    10.5 (Leopard) went to 1.5.8
10.6(Snow Leopard) is currently at 10.6.7.
Now, when Lion come out (the next major upgrade of OSX), I will have to pay to go to 10.7.
After that, updates are free til 10.8 comes out.

    Hi
Anyone used the new Sony HRX-MC2000 to a Mac for use with FCP yet or are you finding it is not reconised in any way shape or form?
    Anyone have ideas or solutions.

    Hi Tom
What A Plonker I am, had not noticed the other end of USB lead not plugged in (Der!!!) It works fine and transfers either as a raw file move to HDD or within FCP using the Log & transfer, thanks for your reply, it made me go back and check it all again.
As you also said it does mount on the desktop as an external drive.
Good camera giving great images so far.
