Will FCP X work with the Canon Vixia HF S10 ?

The HF S10 doesn't appear on the compatibility list. If it currently doesn't, is there a work around to import files? Thanks.

Hi pleibowitz. If what you are saying is true, and FCPX can only read from a camera and can't read and edit an MTS file that has been, say, archived on a hard drive, then I can't use FCPX. That's really disappointing. I don't want to pay a bunch of money for some software that can't read my video files except from the camera. How do I archive my original footage, then import and use it later?
This is really sad. All I want to do is be able to drag an MTS file from my HD into FCPX and have it let me start editing with out a bunch of conversion, or transcoding, or converting into ProRes. It just eats up too much HD space. I love how FCPX uses the Metadata and imports it all, but come on, can't I use it without?
I can only assume the metadata that FCPX uses in somewhere else on the CF card or Flash HD of the camera.
I guess I'll be sticking with Premiere. It reads AVCHD .mts files beautifully, from anywhere. Very nice. I may not have all the metadata stuff, but at least I can archive and move .mts files around where ever I want with the confidence that I can use them later.

iPad requires Wifi (or 3G /LTE) to connect to the Internet. You cannot connect a USB modem to the iPad.
You can create your own WiFi hotspot through your computer for your iPad to connect to, if your computer supports this functionality. All Wifi Macs and many Wifi PCs do. Check your computer manual for how to do it.

Just responded to this in another thread (note we used Captivate 7 so it might be a different error).
We found that when we created files with embedded swf files that existed ABOVE widgets in the timeline, when someone else tried to open our file it broke/we got the runtime error. The original person could still open it for a time, but eventually the cache would clear and they couldn't.
However, if we ensured swf files are BELOW widgets in the source files, it didn't break. In fact, if we found one that was breaking and got the author to move the swf file on the timeline, it would start working for others.

CDMA isn't any use here as there aren't any UK CDMA based carriers, they are all GSM/sim card based (I'm not aware of any CDMA carriers in Europe). As the AT&T version appears to support an extra 4G LTE band then that might be the better one.

Will my MBA work with the new LED Cinema Display

I have a first generation MBA, model identifier MBA 1.1, and want to know if my mini display adapter will work with the new LED Cinema Display. I believe I have a micro-DVI that is different from the new MacBooks and MacBook Professional models that have a new Mini DisplayPort. If anyone is using this old MBA to new LED Cinema Display combination please let me know.

The new display isn't shipping from Apple until some time in November so the only direct feedback you'll get is from anyone that's been to the store and played with the demo unit.
With that being said, it would appear (based on the system specs and requirements, posted on the site) that the new display requires the new adapter type that's found only on the new MacBook, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air.

Using a BEFSR41v3 with a WRT110 and will a WRE54G work with the WRT110

I want to use the BEFSR41 as my main router and use the WRT110 as an access point (wired from the BEFSR41) on the 2nd floor of my house. Will this work? Will I lose speed??

If you want to use WRT110 with BEFSR41 then,you need to hardwired the wireless router to the wired router using an ethernet cable.Follow this link to cascade both the router.
If the Range Expander is version3 then,it should work with WRT110.

How well does premiere work with the Canon XH-A1?

I've used premiere for some time now, but the older 6.01/6.5 version. I finally bought a camera based on what folks were saying of the camera, and naively believing "they're all the same when it comes to capture" -- i.e., firewire is firewire, so it's a no brainer.
The camera I bought was the Canon XHA1, and from what I see from a couple of posts, it sounds like Adobe and Canon are far from bed-partners...
I downloaded the trial version /specifically/ to test HD capture with the camera before I spent the big $$$ on the upgrade, but it seems the -one- feature I wanted to actually test has been disabled from the trial, which makes it rather worthless for me.
What I'm curios about is what format the capture takes -- previously, with 6.0 and a DV camcorder, I would capture in "raw" format and the system saved them to disk as .AVI files. With the Canon and a "competitive product", capturing HD creates a multitude of files -- separate audio files, a video file in some obscure format, a "scene" file or index indicating where the cut-points are or should be in the overall video, etc.
Honestly, I prefer the single file format for media, especially if I preview the entire tape and make a batch-capture list -- makes it easy to deal with "archiving" the captured media later on...

I suppose the system is getting to the "obsolete" stage, even though I followed the "ultimate linux box" article for the specs [AMD 3400, nvidia 6800, corsair memory, SATA disks set up as raid, etc.] but now that I think of it, it was probably the "ultimate linux box" for 2004 or so... ;)<br /><br />editing has been a little mushy with the other program, but so far all I've done is simple cuts and fades [oh, and one night hand-correcting the image stabilzation, but that's a story of it's own...] I'm kinda turned off by their "buy the package for $130 now, then pay more to turn on each individual feature you thought you were paid for in the first place..." I don't know if it will get to the point where it meets or exceeds the full CS3 price, but since I qualify for the discounted price of $300, I'll probably get there...<br /><br />But, back to the point -- if "all HD" is the same [separate audio and video files], then I'll deal with it and not worry too much. For the most part I don't care if the video "scrubs" properly, but I *do* care that it RENDERS properly (I can let the system render day and night if I have to) so I'll continue to squeeze a little more out of this "ultimate" system just a little longer [and in two or three years when my regular DVD player dies and "all that's available" is blu-ray, I'll upgrade when the prices are better :) ]

I have an iHome from the summer i think around 2 years ago. Both my ipod mini and my old black video ipod (not the classic, the video) work with it but I was wondering, will the iPhone?
Another thing, I have Logitech mm50 black iPod speakers that went with my video (until someone broke into my car and stole the ipod!!). Will my iPhone work with those? I know that the iPhone plays music w/o headphones but I like to blast music loud @ parties.
So, please let me know if the iHome and the speakers will work with iPhone, b/c i rly dont want to have to buy a new iHome or speakers!

I have installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64 on my MBA 11" using a USB flash drive and a program called rEFIt, http://refit.sourceforge.net. it's a free program that also lets you install Linux too. you can even triple boot.
i have had no problems with my MBA and i've had it for a few weeks now. it's awesome.

According to Yubico the YubiKey works with the old Camera Connection Kit but no word on the new Lightning to USB adapter.

The adapters have no logic, it's the iPad that determines compatibility with devices. It it works, it works with one exception. Sometimes high-power draw devices must be connected to a powered hub to work.

or do you have to buy specific touch cases?

1G Touch cases also won't work with the 2G Touch that was just released. The case is a slightly different shape and there's a volume control on the side that would be covered by a 1G case.
The way power is supplied to the Touch through the dock connector changed as well.

Will hardware drivers work with the run-time engine or only a full version of Labview?

Hello.
I'm trying to get a quatech I/O card to work. The instructions with the drivers we were given state "you must have labview installed before installing these drivers".
A program I wrote on my machine works fine with those drivers and does toggle outputs on the card, but when I build it into an executable on our test unit (doesn't have a full version of Labview, just the Run-Time engine) the card doesn't work.
We installed the run-time engine on the unit, then the drivers.
I guess my question is: Do most drivers work with both the full version of Labview and the run-time engine? Or do I need to somehow 'convert' these drivers to work with the run-time engine?

I can't determine which dll is required but if there are more than one that
shipped with the quatech I/O card try to placing one dll at a time in the
same directory as the exe so that you can determine which one is the
required one. If that doesn't do it then it may need more than jsut one of
the dlls so placing all that came with the quatech I/O card s/w driver
package in the same directory as the exe should do the trick.
