Hello All,
Will Final Cut Studio even install on a Macbook?
I have a G5, the Macbook would be used for quick edits etc.
Thank you,

  • Will final cut studio run on the 1799$ macbook pro 15 i7?

ive been trying to install final cut studio 5, but it keeps saying my computer doesnt have the hardware required.... its the macbook pro 15 inch i7. heres a link to the exact one i bought. http://www.amazon.com/Apple-MacBook-MC721LL-15-4-Inch-Laptop/dp/tech-data/B000BN HM0C/ref=de_a_smtd

    Hi
The price of the Macbook Pro has no bearing on what the machine can do.
The specs of that machine (model number MC721LL/A) is a 2011 Macbook Pro 15". Specs can be found here.
But, from what I can see - yes, it can run FCS 5. (Tech Specs can be found here)

  • MacBook Pro will not load Final Cut Studio 2 Install disc?!

So, this is the first time in all my years as a Mac user that I haven't been able to find info online about a problem I'm having with my machine.
Firstly, I've never had optical drive issues. Secondly, all other disks I try are still loading and playing perfectly (including other disks in the FCS2 box, e.g. the tutorials).
BUT when I insert the Final Cut Studio 2 Install disc, the drive sounds like it's trying to load the disc over and over, but it never gets spinning properly. The disc doesn't appear in my finder and after about 30 seconds my MacBook just spits it back out.
I've restarted, I've closed all other apps etc. but nothing helps.
Also, this same disc works fine in my parents' 17" MacBook Pro...
Please someone tell me what the **** is going on

You have probably already done it but ensure you have updated the OS and Quicktime prior to attempting to instal Final Cut Studio.
I recently had a hard drive crash and after installing the new hard drive it would not read the OS installation disc. I ended up using an external drive case and installed the OS on the drive from a different Mac Book, then reinstalled the hard drive in the other Mac Book. Then it booted right up. I updated all the original software before attempting to install any additional software.
Everyone kept saying it wouldn't install due a possibly defective optical drive and I can't say why but it wasn't the drive. As soon as I had the system up and running again the optical drive functioned flawlessly.
    I hope this helps you.

  • Final cut studio 2 on a new macbook?

How do I install final cut studio 2 on a new macbook pro? The installer won't start, giving the message PowerPC is no longer supported...
I do want to be able to install my own copy of the program...

  • Does the american final cut studio 3 install in england

I'm looking to buy final cut studio 3 ive found a nice cheap one on the web but its from america i am just wondering if my new imac will recognize this and install it or not

I have just re-read your question and it looks as though you are going to buy FCS from a US source possibly on eBay.
I bought my FCS at well under half price new on eBay but I made sure it was from an English supplier of repute..
Those US adverts always look rather iffy. Plus the fact that even if they are legit, the stuff will take ages to arrive.
Often the postage is nearly as much as the item!!!!
    I would exercise great caution before dealing with them . . . . and then I wouldn't!
The English dealers who offer a "buy now" price will usually be prepared to drop the price a bit if you haggle or simply ask.
You also need to ensure you are getting a FULL RETAIL VERSION and not an UPGRADE.
Upgrades will not work unless you have an earlier version and its serial number.

  • How can I install Final Cut Studio 2 on my new MacBook Pro with Lion?

I just purchased and received a new 15" MacBook Pro (non-retina) last week. I need to install Final Cut Studio 2 on this computer. I have researched this and found that I need to install Rosetta from the Snow Leopard DVD in order to do this. This is the first Mac I've bought ( although I've been working with them for years), so I don't have a Snow Leopard DVD. I am a high school teacher and we use FCS 2 for my classes so buying FCP X is not a viable option for me since I teach FCP 6. The iMacs we use in school run Leopard and were never upgraded to Snow Leopard (budget cuts and all), so I can't even borrow one from my district.
Does anyone know how I can obtain Rosetta? Or another way to install this without it?
    Thank you ! :)

There is no way to add Rosetta support because it is not supported by OS X Lion at system level. This has been documented before the release of OS X Lion by itself.
If you really need Final Cut Studio 2, I would return your computer if possible, and purchase a Mac that is capable of running Snow Leopard (all 2010 models, early 2011 MBP and some other 2011 models)

  • Final Cut Studio 2 Install questions ...

I have a dual 2.0 G5 that I bought used a while ago and it had Final Cut 5 installed on it. I just bought Final Cut Studio 2 and when I intall I can see that it is upgrading most of the components. Is there a way to uninstall the earlier version and do a clean install of my new FCS2? Or is letting it upgrade the previous owners version okay? I think I would feel better knowing my nice new software bundle was being installed cleanly?
Also, I plan on installing this on my PowerBook. What steps should I take to have the audio/template content get installed on an external drive. I only have 27Gigs available on the internal drive of my laptop.
    Thanks in advance,
    Keith

I would personally wipe the whole machine if I bought it new-- you don't know what the previous owner's loaded on, how many tiny processses have gotten piled up in the background. The only thing you need to run a fresh install is the FCP5 serial number.
As for the PowerBook installation, you will have the option when installing to place the additional content in another location other than the default. I don't remember exactly when this option presents itself, but keep your eyes open and I'm sure you'll see it.

  • Will Final Cut Studio 2 HD and FCP 7 Upgrade load on newest OS?

I have Final Cut Studio HD and an FCP 7 Upgrade on my old system.  Looking to buy a new iMac and wondered if I could load Studio 2 and FCP 7 on the newest OS?
    Any insight is appreciated!

Forgot to mention, although it will install it isn't officially supported by Apple anymore. Just in case someone jumps in to point it out.

  • Can Final Cut Studio be installed on a new Mac Pro?

My G5 PPC died.  The processor went bad.  It would have cost me around 2 grand to fix.  So I just bought a brand new Mac Pro thinking that would be the better investment.  Tried to install Final Cut Studio and it is not supported.  Is this true?  If so - this Mac is going back to apple for a refund and I'll pay the 2 grand to fix the old one.  I can't afford to loose years of past projects.  Not to mention I am in the middle of project and have no way of working on it. Any fix for this?  My trust in Apple low and my years loyalty may have to move to another system.  I thought it was just drama when a college said the end has come for FCP.

FCP 5, 4.5, 3...no, they will not work on Intel Macs.  FCP 5.1 was the first version to work on those machines.  So if you have FCP 5 or earlier, no, it will not install.  Sorry.  And since FCP as you know it has been discontinued, you can't really upgrade to a later version that will open your projects.  FCX is the new version, and it is very different than FCP was, and cannot open older project files.
Sorry man...when you hold on to old old software, and get new machines, it won't always work. This is true for any software, on any machine.  FCP 5 is over 6 years old...7!

  • Final Cut Studio Re-Install Failure

My Final Cut Studio is no longer operational.  I used FCP a couple of weeks ago with no issues.  This morning SoundTrack 3.0.1 refuses to start up, neither does Final Cut Pro 7.0.3.  I uninstalled both SoundTrack and FCP and then found that my install disc for Final Cut Studio (Version 5.1) comes up with a message about no longer supporting PPC's and so will not install.  I have a Mac Pro 1.1, OS 10.7.5.  Any asistance would be greatly appreciated.

First and foremost, make sure you use the proper tools for uninstalling: http://www.digitalrebellion.com/fcsremover/
FCP 5.1 was the first "universal" version of FCP, meaning that it would run on both PPC and Intel processor Macs.  But if you have FCP 7, that means you should have Final Cut Studio 2009 (aka Final Cut Studio 3) since that's the only way you could purchase FCP 7.
To update your software to the latest version that you paid for, run Software Update on your Mac (under the Apple menu).

  • Final Cut Studio 2 Install Probelm

Let me start off by saying I'm more than a little ticked off. Last Thursday I called apple to get some info on getting a new powerbook to operate FCP Studio. I was going to the apple store in the morning, but the guy on the phone told me I could save a several hundred dollars ording through him. Told me free overnight shipping would have it to me friday, saturday at the latest. I bought it plus the final cut studio upgrade. It's monday evening and I just got my computer. Blame that one of fed ex. Now, upgrade won't work because my FCP4 was an academic version. He never told me that. I have a retail version of express, but it won't work either. How am I going to get a serial number that works. Buying the complete system will mean I wasted $700 for the upgrade box I just opened. Obviously, apple is closed through Christmas. Help!

I'm really sorry that this happened, but you cannot upgrade academic versions.
That's is clear in your license, at Apple's web site, and is listed here repeatedly.
Call Apple on Wednesday, and return your purchase.
I've seen that done before, even with updated versions.
Remember as well that you are a little responsible for this information as well.
Apple hasn't sold Powerbooks for several years now. It sells MacBooks and MacBook Pros.
You can't get a serial number that works without buying the correct package.

  • Final Cut studio wont install!!!!!!

    Okay everyone,
I need help. I just bought Final Cut Studio 5.1....and it won't install. I think it is because it requires Mac OS X v. 10.4.4 and my PowerPC G4 has Mac OS X 10.3.9. So how do i obtain this updated version, and would this be the only reason why it is not installing?
Also, if I install Final Cut on my computer, can I install it in other computers? (For example, if I buy a new computer after I already installed the program in this one)
Thank you and Please help soon!!!
    PowerPC G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

That is precisely the reason. You need to upgrade to Tiger, which means that you need to purchase the OS update from Apple.
As for installing on other computers, the license agreement states that you can install it on (1) G5 tower and (1) Mac Laptop provided they are owned by the same party and will not be used at the same time. This is to allow editors to edit on one station in the office, and another when on the road.
Other than that...one license per machine...so one copy of FCP per machine.

  • Will Final Cut Studio do the job?

    Hi
I've been using imovie for small easy projects for a number of years now and its great. However recently I filmed a wedding for some friends and need a program with a little more punch to do a professional job.
Firstly is Final Cut Studio accessible for a novice like me?
There are a few things I need to fix in post production that imovie just can't do. For example there are certain points where I need to eradicate bad camera shake. The other main problem is the sound. I recorded the sound separately on an audio device but for whatever reason the wav file is extremely quiet when played back. Therefore I need something to boost the sound. Is there anything in Final Cut Studio that will do this? These are the two big problems, there are other things like blond hair glair but I can sort that out later! Is Final Cut Studio right for me and do I have to be a computer genius in order to use it?
can anyone suggest any good books to purchase to help use the program.
    Thanks
    Kev

My friend has a new boxed Final Cut Express 4 (he hasn't even opened it!) he will sell to me dirt cheap so would the quality be better for importing on that?
Go for it! Although I said earlier to stay with iMovie, given you are using DV tape you are no doubt better off with FCE due to the quality difference when using DV (when compared to iMovie '09). As I mentioned, I'm happy with iMovie '09 as I'm using AVCHD and get great results. I continue to use iMovie HD 6 for DV, although just for some early projects that need to be edited or completed.
Otherwise how do I go about getting iMovie HD 6?
Users in the iMovie forums recommend eBay, as it is no longer available from Apple. However, as it is now a product not supported by Apple, you will be better off using Final Cut Express 4 - particularly as you can get it from your friend at a great price! Follow Ian's advice and work through the Izzy Video free tutorials - it appears to be an excellent resource.

  • Will Final Cut Studio 3 work with OSX Mavericks?

    Hi,
Does anyone know if Final Cut Studio 3 will work with the New OSX Mavericks when it's released this fall?
    Thanks in advance

If you have the snow leopard install disk, you can do a custom install and just install rosetta.
One person on this forum, says there are serious issues with this workflow and links to another method.

I've done it a few times without any issues, and I haven't seen any definitive reports detailing the problems with this.
Doing a complete clean install is the much safer way to have a dependable system.  Here's a user tip on OS and FCP installation

I'd also recommend creating a bootable clone of your startup drive before doing any os upgrades or application installations or upgrades.  That way if things go south, you can easily return to the previous working system.
