Will find my iPhone still work with my iPod Touch 2Gen with iCloud?

Once I'm forced to upgrade my MobileMe account to iCloud, will I still be able to find my (and my sister's as well) iPod Touch 2nd Generation running iOS 4.2.1? or my mom and dad's iPhone 3G (non-3GS) for that matter?
I am really less than impressed by iCloud's system requirements and the vast load of devices that worked together and now with iCloud suddenly don't. It really doesn't reward the longtime Apple customers.
Andrew.

If you erase the device and re-configure it for you and your Apple ID, then he cannot track you without knowing your Apple ID and password. And, be sure you enable Find My Phone via iCloud preferences on your computer.

  • If I block safari will find my iphone still work

If I block safari app on iPhone 5c will FIND MY IPHONE Still work?

Yes, blocking all data would prove to be a problem for Find My iPhone, and it would only work when connected to wi-fi. Also, you could not block other internet browsers, except you could block the installation of other apps. You could restrict Safari and the installation of apps, which would prevent using Safari and installating other web browsers, and that should still allow cellular data for Find My iPhone. You would also have to look at any other data using apps, such as Facebook, Twitter, etc. that would user Internet if you were to see about not using Smart Limits. That is a hard call to make.

  • Mobileme is dead.  Will find my iPhone still work?

mobileme is dead.  Will find my "Find my iPhone" still work much longer?
It seems to for now, but did Apple mention a replacement for "Find my iPhone" without mobileme?
    -Apple 2GS

MobileMe is NOT dead - where did you get that idea?  iCloud will eventually replace MobileMe, but it's still in beta and there will be MANY announcements about the transition before it occurs.  Right now, iCloud also provides Find My Phone,  but I wouldn't rely on it as it's still beta code.

  • If I buy any iPhone can it still work as an iPod touch without the phone carrier? Will it work normal?

So what if I bought an iPhone 4 or 5 off craigslist because it was cheaper than a 5th generation iPod. Would it still work as an iPod without a phone carrier?

You will need to have a SIM in the phone to activate it. If it's still locked to a carrier, it will need to be a SIM from that carrier. This would need to be done if/when you update the software.
Make sure the phone is no longer attached to the previous owner's iCloud account. You can check that here: https://www.icloud.com/activationlock/

  • How do I get my iphone to work like an ipod touch.

Bought a used iphone to use as an ipod touch. I think it was jailbroken, because when I updated itunes, my ihpone will not work anymore. What do I do?

You need a sim card installed in any iPhone in order to restore it in iTunes. You'll need a sim card from the carrier the phone is locked to or the last carrier the phone was used with. The sim card need not be activated, but it must be valid & present.

  • Lost iphone 5, turned off, wiped it icloud.. will find my phone still work?

Hi guys, lost my iphone 5 last night. will find my phone app still work if i had used the icloud option to wipe my phone?
also my phone has been turned off ive only had it for 4 days!
    thanks.

    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up. Of if FinfMyiPod was turned off
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have to iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.
    - Apple will do nothing

  • If I change my Apple password as a security precaution because my phone has been lost and switched off, will Find My iPhone still function? That is, will it be able to connect to iCloud, as the password on the phone is still the old one.

My phone is lost – not stolen, and may still be returned. Not long after I lost it, it was switched off, or died (it was at about 6%), so I can't find it using Find My iPhone. I realized I should change all my important passwords, as the passcode can be compromised by various methods. One password I changed was for my Apple account.
Now I'm realizing that I shouldn't have done that. What if the phone comes back online – but my AppleID password has changed; will the phone still be able to connect to Apple with the old credentials so my message is sent?
When I realized this I tried to go back to my old password – but Apple won't let me use one I used in the last year. Any way around this?

when you change your Apple iD it's pretty much changing the visual email, i guess that doesn't really answer your question, yes you keep your purchases, it just changes the log-in email and email where newsletters , etc. go to.

  • Will iPhone 1.0 still work as an iPod touch if AT&T service is stopped?

If I purchase an iPhone 2.0 and my existing iPhone 1.0 AT&T service is transferred/upgraded to iPhone 2.0, will my iPhone 1.0 then function as an iPod touch? Or will it be a brick?

iPhone 2.0 is a software update that includes many new features and can be installed in your current iPhone. If you do get the new iPhone (called the iPhone 3g) your old one would still work just fine. One of the major differences between the old and new iPhones is GPS (Global Positioning System). The original iPhones won't have true GPS like the iPhone 3g, even with the software update.

  • If i sign out of icloud on my mac, will find my mac still work?

Under System Preferences - > iCloud, I have enabled "Find My Mac" and I want to use "Back to my Mac" as well.
I have a very simple question...
Will either of these features operate if I sign out of iCloud in the preference pane?  I would like to make it a little more secure by requiring authentication to access or disable these features.
    Thanks.

    No.
Also, if you sign out, your contacts, calendars and bookmarks will stop syncing. iCloud is designed to be left signed in if you are using any of the services it provides.

  • Will Find my iPhone work with 3G?

I have an iPhone 4 and a 3G.   With MobileMe, Find My iPhone works perfectly for both phones.    I'm planning to migrate to iCloud.  Will Find my iPhone still work with my 3G phone?

  • Why exchange email will not work on my ipod touch, but ok on iphone

Why will microsoft exchange email not work on my ipod touch, but with the exact same settings, it works fine on my iphone? What is the reason for this?

Try a soft reset, press and hold both power and home buttons together until the Apple logo appears, about 15 seconds, then release both. If still no joy, go into Settings>General>Reset then tap Reset All Settings. If still no joy, back up your iPod to your computer then do a Restore to Backup, if that doesn't work Restore to new through iTunes. If a full restore to new does not work, you may have a hardware issue, contact Apple Genius Bar to have your iPod evaluated. Good luck, Cheers.

  • Will the find my iphone app work if i sign out of icloud?

Will Find My Iphone App work if I sign out of ICloud?

You need to log into iCloud with your Apple ID under Settings->iCloud to Turn on Find my iPhone for each iPhone.
With that done, you can use the App on each iPhone to find the other. You do not need to go to iCloud.com.  But you do need to log into the App with the Apple ID you used to log into iCloud in settings.
You cannot use the App without turning on Find My iPhone in Settings on each iPhone, and you cannot do that without logging into iCloud.

  • How will find my Iphone work on an Iphone that has no service

How will find my Iphone work on an Iphone that has no service and it locked so if someone found it they would not be able to connect it to a wifi source.

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5818
Great link giving you peace of mind that at least they will not be able to use it with out your AppleID and Password.
According to the "Lost Mode" anytime the device is turned back on or able to receive a signal the phone will lock itself down and it's position will be updated to show its last known location.
