I'm thinking about upgrading my wifi-card to an Intel AC card.
    Thank you.

Presently Lenovo Regulatory Notes list consists wifi adapters with AC specification support in the m.2 formfactor only, for the new laptops line on Haswell. Do conclusions yourself.

  • Is it possible to use Intel PROset Wireless/WiFi card on MacBook late 2007 in replacement of Airport?

Will Intel PROset/Wireless WiFi card work on MacBook Late-2007? I don't have an Airport card with me as this MacBook was only given to me from a friend. Also will Mac OS X 10.6 install even though the WiFi card and Bluetooth card is not in the MacBook?
    MacBook Late-2007, Mac OS X 10.6, 1GB RAM, 8x SuperDrive, 235GB 5400rpm HDD, Intel Core 2 Duo T8300, Intel GMA Graphics

I would seriously doubt that you will be able to use this card as a replacement for the AirPort Extreme card in your MacBook.
A better option would be to use a wireless USB Wi-Fi adapter instead. You can find these at a number of vendors on the Internet. One would be Other World Computing (OWC).
As far as installing OS X 10.6, you should be able to install it from the OS X installation disk regardless if the AirPort card is missing.

  • Intel 7260 compatibility before buying a new Envy laptop

Does anyone know if the new envy 17t or 15t laptops with i7 processors are compatible with the intel 7260 ac wireless card or are the new laptops still whitelisted? Looking for laptop that is able to use this card.

The current Envy 17t and 15t models have no BIOS whitelist so you can add an ac card with no issues.

  • Intel 7260 and Sattelite a665

I just replaced the Intel Advanced 6200 wifi card in my Sattelite A665 with an Intel 7260 2x2 ac wifi card to utilize the ac capability of my new Newgear AC1900 router.  I downloaded and installed the newest drivers from Intel and Device manager shows the both the wifi and blue tooth portions of the card working properly and I now have blue tooth connection to my HP printer.  I can not see any of my previous wifi connections and Windows 7 trouble shooting says the wifi hardware swith is Off.  The "Radio" button does seem to swith the radio on/off, however the orange led light on the front of the laptop doesn't come on like it did with the 6200 card.  Is there a compatiblility issue with the A665 and the 7260 card or something else I'm missing.  I'm running Win 7 Premium Home Edition with SP1.

I'm still working on this and discovered I was using the wrong Hardware Switch to toggle the wireless mode off and on.  there is a shortcut button to the wireless mode above the function keys that is supposed to toggle wireless on/off.  I noticed it doesn't work if when the original Intel 6200 wifi card was in.  However the true on/off is FN key + F8.  That works with the original card.  I put the new Intel 7260 in and it installs perfectly with device manager indicating it is working properly and the bluetooth works great too......but no wifi.  Then I notice the F8 functionality is now gone so I can not use the hardware switch to turn wifi on.
Has the Toshiba system locked that card out from being funtional on this computer?  Any other thoughts?  I've tried just about everything discussed on various forums and sites.

  • X140e and Intel 7260 (FRU: 04W3814)

Hey! I just got my hands on a X140e thinkpad. I wanted to install Linux on it.
According to https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Lenovo_ThinkPad_X140e#Wireless , an aftermarket intel card with FRU 04W3814 should work. The Intel card is also mentioned in the 2.06 BIOS update: http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/gsuj07uc.txt:
    - (New) Added support for the Wireless LAN adapter (Intel 7260).
I assumed I just need to:
Update the BIOS (I updated to 2.06)
    Switch the cards
Updating the Bios to 2.06 went fine, after installing the card however I can't seem to see it. It doesn't show up in "lspci" and in Windows, it shows up in the device manager, but just as a generic network card and with a yellow exclamation point.
Am I missing something? Are there any additional steps necessary?
For reference, I bought this card: http://www.ebay.com/itm/261541641863
The sticker does mention the FRU

    Hello,
Have you tried installing the drivers for the Intel 7260 card while in Windows?

  • Upgrading Wifi-card in T420s ... will an Intel 6300 work? Other recommendations? Modded BIOS?

    Hi all,
My trusty T420s (4172-CTO) has been rock solid for years but recently has started having issues with wifi disconnects. I've tried multiple wifi drivers, flashing my router firmware, even a new router. Nothing has helped. I am left with the conclusion that my card (Intel 6250) has got to go.
I am familiar with the whitelisting issue, but was wondering if there was a card I could use instead that would work without a bios mod. I checked the HMM and saw that the Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300, FRU 60Y3233, is listed for my application. I can get one on ebay fairly cheap. But, I see the 6300 has three antennas, not two like my 6250. Does this mean it won't work in my T420s? Would I just leave one of them disconnected? Which one?
Is there another card, already whitelisted, that would work?
Failing this option, I will go with another card (Intel 7260 unless somone has a better idea) and a modded BIOS. I have found a couple of forums and threads that walk through the process (and provide the BIOSes) but if someone has a recommendation for a site/service to use, I'd appreciate a heads up via PM as I can see such discussion isn't likely weclcome publicly.
    Thanks, all.

Thanks for the reply. What do you mean "2.4 GHz WiFi reliability is a hit or miss"?
Warranty is over so no problem there.
I see a lot of 7260 cards, is there one in specific I need? Example:
    http://goo.gl/PKcRIU
    http://goo.gl/ooaUEw
N would actually be fine, don't really need AC, recently upgraded my router and don't feel compelled to change...the price difference is small, and I'm all for future-proofing, but, I just need the thing to WORK.
    Thanks again.

  • [SOLVED] Intel 7260 Vaio can't connect to wifi

    Hi there,
First off, I should mention that I know my way around Linux but I'm pretty new to Arch, so there might be things that I know that don't apply here.
So, I have this problem with this network, I can't connect to it and frankly I don't know why. I was on Ubuntu until a few days ago and I still had the problem. I posted on the Ubuntu forum >>here<< and I was told to upgrade, but as I've been willing to move to Arch for quite some time, I thought that was maybe the time. BUT, the problem is still there, which worries me.
To sum it up, about one or two weeks ago, I was connecting fine to this network (ZyXEL) and then after a reboot, no way to connect to it, no matter what I try. I have noticed an error message that keeps coming back all the time (see below) and the wifi indicator in i3status sometimes flashes me with an IP while I'm trying to connect then eventually the network disappears (not with wicd, only nm). Those are basically the symptoms.

I have had troubles with the wifi in the past (from what I read on the internet, this card is not yet fully supported everywhere) but nothing like this. Usually, disconnecting and reconnecting did the trick, sometimes I had to restart NetworkManager in extreme cases, but nothing more.
I tried a lot of things (modprobe, rfkill, firmware update, etc), rebooted everything I could but couldn't do anything. I have found bug reports and forums posts of similar problems but the solutions there either didn't work for me or the problem just seem to have disappeared for some people. I read that this card was not really supported before the kernel 3.11 or 3.13 but now I have 3.16 and it's still there. What's really bugging me is that I could successfully connect to this network a couple weeks ago...
On the Ubuntu forum, they have a script that displays useful information when posting about wireless problems. I have taken off the Ubuntu specific bits and I think this will save you some time asking me to run commands. One thing is not mentioned in the script: I use wicd.

I have the exact same problem, appeared completely random. I had several restarts this Christmas on the laptop, even after upgrades. I blamed the ath driver. But I noticed when I restart the router by plugging out it from the wall, then in again, sometimes it's working.
I carefully changed every possible settings in the router, then I found if I disable IPv6 (yes, it's capable of that despite Sky does not provide IPv6 service) it started to work even after multiple reboots. It took mi a while since the new year.
I'm using connman and when it was wrong, connman was completely frozen. If I entered "connmanctl scan wifi", it never quit. Same for "connmanctl state".
I also noticed that the router LED was blinking continuously and on the laptop when I checked the connection status with ifconfig it showed very high usage of TX packets. It also blocked the whole wifi, so my phone was not able to access the internet. Strange problem, I'm unsure what caused it and not quite sure how disabling IPv6 solved it. But I'm also afraid that maybe somewhere else I can't disable IPv6 on the router.

  • Dv9000 can board support intel ac 7260 wifi card

i'd like to upgrade my wireless card from an intel 4965agn to the intel wireless-ac 7260 on a Pavilion dv9000 laptop.
is there any way to update the bios which will allow the system to recognize the ac 7260 as a supported network device?
if not, is there any other tool that can scan your machine and identify your upgrade possibilities for a wireless network card based on the bios that you currently have?

    Hi,
That card is the best chip you can have on that laptop. The laptop is too old to support the AC standard and the Intel chip supports up to 300Mbps and both wireless bands (2.4/5GHz). That is a pretty good wifi because some HP laptop series can't even upgrade to a dual band wifi card such as yours or Intel 6235 etc..

  • Wifi issue on System76 (Intel 7260)

    Hi all,
I've been having this issue on certain wireless networks where the wireless just stops working but stays connected and the only indication anything is wrong is when you go to load a page.
All I have to go in is the dmesg:

Everything I have found on the issue seems to be older and people solve it by updating firmware, I have check my firmware and I have the newest ones that others have said solved their issue:
    [andrew@Andrew-Ultrapro ~]$ ls -al /lib/firmware/ | grep 7260

    -rw-r--r--   1 root root  679380 Aug 28 12:08 iwlwifi-7260-9.ucode
Any help at all resolving this would be greatly appreciated.

I am only familiar with the Intel 7260/7265. They have a setting called U-APSD.
If this is enabled you will see this behaviour.
If you find this setting on your card, you can try to disable it.

I'm trying to downgrade my icloud storage; however, my MAC book will not upgrade pass 10.6.8 and I don't have my iphone anymore.  If there another way for me to do this?  I've tried everything I can find online and of course my coverage has expired and can't call the support team.

    Hello Lara,
have you already called Apple and explained your current situation, because I don't see a way to downgrade your storage plan with a Mac only running Snow Leopard and without a iOS device running at least iOS 5.
    Best regards.

  • Intel 7260 does not work on open networks/filtered ports

Hi Everyone! I made sure to check if this was posted before and tried to fix everything I could before asking you guys. For the past few days, I have been using Android wifi tethering as I was unable to get the speed up above 1000 B/s at my school. This means that the pings work, but I am unable to do anything else.
I have the latest kernel and the latest firmware (downloaded from the iwlwifi kernel.org section) and am currently using NetworkManager. My wifi works on my WPA network at home, but nowhere else. This is a fresh install of Arch running Gnome.
    Laptop model: ASUS Q302LA

Config on the settings is all the automatic ones. I get the signal strength and the speed but data transfers at a ridiculously slow rate. When I had Windows, it was 50 Mb/S.
If you need anything else, I can give you all you need.

For people that end up stumbling upon this thread: I talked to the IT director at my school and he said that it's normal for Linux (using open source drivers) users to find problems with connection. (Also, the USB wifi card I tried did not work.) As of now, it's a problem on the provider's end. If you can, ask them to update their "wifi stuff" and if that doesn't work, see if you can get them to secure the network with WPA2/PSK. (Probably won't happen) I was fortunate that I contacted him during the planning phase for securing the wifi and only had to wait a few days.

Hello, most usually it's some USB device causing that, but...
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts (Users & Groups in later OSX versions)>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed. Or an errant process eating up RAM.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

    Hello!
Tell me, please, will Muse run on the Intel Celeron 1007U 1.5 GHz ?
I understand that in system requirements stands "2 GHz or faster", but maybe the program will run on 1.5 Ghs, not fast and good, but will? Or not?
    Thank you

    Hello
For Muse you need Intel Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon 64 processor (2 GHz or faster) with 64-bit support.
