Will Hong Kong purchased iphone work in US?

I live in Hong Kong but will be returning to live in US within 6 months to 1 year. If I purchase an iphone here in Hong Kong, can I use this same phone upon my return to the US? Just wondering if I should hold out until I get home. Really want the phone now!!
Thanks

If you buy the unlocked iPhone in HK it will work with any SIM card - even one from a US Carrier.
Keep in mind, that if you need service or a replacement you will have to send it to HK. The US Apple stores will try to help, but they will not exchange the unit it you have a problem that is under warranty.

I am considering buying an iphone of the us version of apple and getting it shipped over, would this work?

A carrier locked phone and one that it sold at a price associated with a contract with the carrier are not one and the same.
The iPhone is also sold in the U.S. without being under contract. With the 3GS - $599 for the $16GB, and $699 for the 32 GB.
In addition, there is only one carrier for the iPhone in the U.S. There are 2 or 3 carriers for the iPhone in Austrailia which believe it or not does not improve competition for the subsidy amount offered by each carrier for a phone in association with a contract term for a subsidy offered by a carrier for a particular phone.
When the iPhone is available with another carrier in the U.S., the habitual whiners here will have something else to whine about. The cost of a subsidized iPhone here will be going up if/when there is more than one carrier available for the iPhone.
What is the subsidized price with each carrier for the iPhone and the contract term required for the subsidy? What is the minimum monthly amount required for an iPhone under contract with each carrier?

  • I have a macpro tower 1,1 which I want to give to a friend in France where the current is 220. Will this US purchases computer work on 220?

I have a macpro tower 1,1 which I want to give to a friend in France where the current is 220. Will it work on 200?

Right idea, but wrong name for it.
Older power supplies took the raw AC as it came out of the wall and ran that through a transformer -- but the transformer had to be really big and heavy. Then pull Voltages off that and rectify and filter them for the various output Volatges.
A switching power supply is one that uses a very high power transistor to "chop up" or "switch" the input power into a lower Voltage AC wave inside, then steps that up or down through a more modest transformer and rectify and filter it to provide the outputs. It weighs quite a bit less, and is more efficient as well.

  • Will a US bought iPhone work in the UK?

My dads going to the US for a few days and he said he would get an iPhone 5.
When he comes back to the UK will he able to use it here of he gets an unlocked phone from apple?
He will also be going to Saudi Arabia to live there so can be use it there?
I know that's a lot but if he can what carriers in the UK will he be able to use. He might be pay as you go. Thanks.

LTE is the latest version of high speed cellular data networks, 3G being older technology that is being replaced with LTE (LTE is a 4th generation technology).  Even if you do not have an LTE network in your coverage area yet, you should still get cellular data with any 4g/LTE capable phone or tablet, just your data speeds will be lower as you will have to connect with 3G or even something older and slower in some places.
LTE operates on many different frequencies, and different carriers in different countries lease different frequencies (depending on what is available to them and what they can get).  So if you buy an iPhone that does not support the LTE frequencies in use by the carriers in your area, you cannot get the benefits of LTE data speeds when using cellular data (and LTE is noticeably MUCH faster than 3G, at least in my experience with AT&T in the USA).
That is the pitfall of buying a USA phone and trying to use it somewhere else - you may find you simply cannot actually take advantage of the best service available to you (and no carrier discounts your data plan just because you naively bought a phone that does not connect to their higher speed network).

Can I use iPhone 5s from Hong Kong in Estonia?

If you purchase an unlocked phone in Hong Kong, it should work, although since it is not from your country, it is possible that not all features will work.

iPhone warranty is valid only in country of original purchase.
If the iPhone was originally sold in the Philipines, it must be
returned to there for repair/replacement. You must take it or
send it to a friend/relative there to take to Apple repair in the
Philipines. Apple does not accept international shipments for
repair nor does Apple ship out of the country after repair.
If Apple told you that the iPhone had to go to Hong Kong for repair,
then the iPhone was originally sold in Hong Kong and then resold
to you in the Philipines. In that case, take it to Hong Kong.

  • HT204389 can i use siri in hong kong if the phone is serviced through us?

i am in hong kong-- does siri work hereif i have verizon acct in us?

It makes sense, marklyn9063. If you are using a tablet overseas with WiFi, you will be able to access Verizon Messages without incurring roaming charges. However, in order to receive messages, you must have an active phone number.

  • My iphone 5 is not working. warranty expired.i purchased it in Fortress store,HONG KONG. How much it would cost for a repair or replacement??

my iphone 5 is NOT SWITCHING ON..its not charging .warranty expired by 2 months.how much it would cost for a repair or replacement.??
i purchased it in fortress store ,HONG KONG.

If Fortress is an authorized reseller for the iPhone, then look here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=servicefaq&geo=Hong_Kong&product=iphone
If Fortress is not authorized to sell the iPhone, then you will need to ask Fortress about getting your iPhone services.

  • Will a Canadian iPhone 5s work in Hong Kong

    Hi,
I just bought a new unlocked iphone 5s from apple store and i was wondering if it would work in hong kong. I am going down there for 6 months and i would like to use my phone down there...
I don't care if LTE doesn't work as long as I can get internet on it and that i can use it to text and call people...

Since it is an unlocked phone, it should work. Again, the warranty is only valid in Canada, and you understand it may not support all bands. Otherwise you should be alright. It is probably better to activate it in Canada before you leave.

  • Will a new ipad purchased in Hong Kong work in the UK

    Hi,
I'm in Hong Kong next week and was thinking of buying an ipad for use in the UK. Does anyone know if that would work? Thanks in advance.

No differences in hardware/software/voltage but the plug that comes with the one in Hong Kong may be different than what is used in the UK and you would have to buy an adapter, or just buy an additional power adapter in the UK. The iPad is not locked (even in the US) if you buy a WiFi + 3G (GSM) model it will work fine with a compatible microSIM in the UK.

  • If I buy an iphone from the hong kong site to use in new zealand, will it come unlocked and can i use it in new zealand on a nz service provider?

If I buy an iphone from the hong kong site to use in new zealand, will it come unlocked and can i use it in new zealand on a nz service provider?

If you purchase an unlocked iPhone it will work on any supported gsm network.
Just FYI, apple will not ship outside the country in which the device is purchased. A device purchased in the Hong Kong website must have a shipping and billing address in Hong Kong.
Also, warranty and support are only valid in the country of origin.

  • Can I purchase simlock free iPhone 5 in Hong Kong and later use it in the Netherlands?

I'll be in Hong Kong for about 1-2 weeks or so and would like to buy the new iPhone 5. Will this iPhone work in the Netherlands or Finland?
And is the only way to purchase a simlock free iPhone 5 through the website?
Can I reserve today (26th Nov) even though I'll be arriving in Hong Kong in 3 weeks? (They say if its available you'll get the info to pick it up the next day)
Is there a big chance that the iPhone will be out of stock, mid/late December?
    Thankss

Have a look here I can't determine whether Apple HK sell
unlocked iPhones which is what you must Buy
Generally if unlocked is available it is
ONLY Apple that sells them either on the street or through their online store
The warranty is NOT international so if you have any issues the
iPhone will have to be returned to HK
