Will I be able to play skyrim on the macbook air? What upgrades for it should I get?

I would like to be able to at least play skyrim on medium settings and I would like to be able to play other games like that.

According to notebook check, if you get the mid 2012 w/ 8GB of RAM and the i7 it should average about 30fps on medium. http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Apple-MacBook-Air-13-Mid-2012-Subnotebook.80 041.0.html

  • Will I be able to replace a US version Macbook Air in the UK?

I'm going to New York and thinking about buying an MBA for University from there as it's cheaper. I was wondering, if I have any issues with it, will I be able to take it to an Apple store in the UK to have the issue fixed?
Edit: this is my first post and couldn't find the answer on google, sorry if this is the wrong place to post the comment but I want to make sure before making a financial commitment. Thanks.

The only problem would be with the language. You see, the American versions do not speak Proper British.
Everything else would be fine. The Apple One Year warranty should be good worldwide. You will need to ask them whether three year AppleCare (extra cost extension) is good worldwide.
A NEW MacBook will be charged Duty to enter the UK. Be sure by the time you hit Customs, your MacBook is not still in the original box and a reasonable person would agree that it was used.

  • Will any wireless keyboard and mouse work with the Macbook Air?

I just need to know if my existing keyboard/mouse will work or if I need to purchase new.

Any BlueTooth keyboard or mouse should work. I have a nifty Kensington BT keyboard that switches from my desktop to MBA to iPad with the flick of a single key and I have a BT Magic Mouse.

  • From my iphone 4 will I be able to play games like Infinity Blade or even modern combat games through Apple Digital AV Adapter on my HDTV/HDMI LCD-television?

I have a question before buying it...From my iphone 4 will I be able to play games like Infinity Blade or even modern combat games through Apple Digital AV Adapter on my HDTV/HDMI LCD-television?
Will it support or i have to wait for iphone 5!!!

Having spotty luck with it... see my other post in the iphone discussions...
It does work, but only some of the time - it seems to need a kick in the *** though. Sometimes it links to the TV right away, some times it takes some switching between apps or videos in the camera roll, and now for some reason, it takes plugging my wife's phone in first and then swapping phones once her's is recognized and TV output connection made before mine will output signal to the TV.
And it seems to do video only with some apps and audio only with others, and then nothing with yet others. I guess I just expected it to work, given that we both have freshly updated iphones (4.3), good cables and 2 HD TV's to test with...

  • I want to buy an iPad for my children for Christmas. Will they be able to play games and get on the Internet with this? Also, will they automatically be able to get on the Internet or will I have to purchase some kind of package?

I want to buy an iPad for my children for Christmas. Will they be able to play games and get on the Internet with this? Also, will they automatically be able to get on the Internet or will I have to purchase some kind of package?

Yes, they can play games - there are hundreds if not thousands of games available in the iTunes Store. Beware of the "free" games; many are free for the base game but charge for things like additional levels, "coins" etc. and those paid add-ons can add up quickly, to dozens or even in some cases hundreds of dollars. I'd strongly suggest you set up restrictions on the iPad to prevent your children from making unauthorized purchases. See:
    http://ipod.about.com/od/iphonehowtos/ht/Using-Iphone-Content-Restrictions.htm
You will need an Internet provider of some sort; Apple is not a provider and so the iPad does not include a data service. You can either use a home Internet connection with a WiFi access point (aka "router") or you can get an iPad with WiFi+Cellular and sign up for a data plan with a cell carrier. WiFi through a home Internet service will probably be cheaper.

  • Will I be able to play The Sims 2 on my MacBook Pro?

I have the mid-2012 MacBook Pro: 2.5 GHz processor, Intel HD 4000 Graphics, 4GB of memory, and masses of storage space left. Will I be able to play my PC copies of The Sims 2 using Boot Camp? I've been looking on the internet because I was unsure whether the graphics chip was good enough as it's not designed for gaming, and some people say it won't work, others say it will (presumably because it's a 10 year old game). If it will work, would I be able to install all the expansions? Our old desktop computer that it was installed on finally died at the exact moment that I suddenly became desperate to play The Sims, so I'm hoping you'll give me good news! Thanks.

It's version 10.9.4. I've not actually set Boot Camp up yet, my dad says he'll do it, but I'm going to put XP on. The base game needs 800 MHz processor, 256 Mb RAM, 3.5 Gb hard drive, and a 32 Mb T&L video card with DirectX 9.0 driver support. The expansion packs vary but need around 1.3 GHz processor, 256 MB - 1 GBRAM, 1.5 GB hard drive, and the same video card.
It's mainly the video card that I'm unsure of, as I assume the processor etc. can deal with a ten year old game but the video card isn't really designed for gaming. I'm hoping that it's not designed for gaming in the sense that it's not designed for modern games, but can cope with older ones. I've downloaded SimCity 4, The Movies, and Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 form the App Store and they're all fine.
P.S. - Ronda Wilson: I have the PC copies of the games already, so I'm kind of reluctant to buy a new game unless my games won't work. I've looked into The Sims 3 on Origin as back up plan though, because as you said it will run natively.

  • Would i be able to play most mac games on the macbook air? e.g portal 2 etc.

I am looking into buying a new laptop, which will mostly be used for work at school, e.g. word processing. photo editing. and possibly video editing. The macbook air seemed like the ideal choice for this as it is both small and powerful. however as this will be my only laptop i want to iknow if it will be able to run some of the native mac games like portal 2 and half life 2 etc. i know that the 2010 macbook air could play these games successfully, as it had a nvidia 320m graphics card in it, however the 2011 macbook air has intel 300hd graphics which are listed on the minimum specifications for portal 2, but are apparently not as good as the nvidia 320m chipset. i was wondering wether i should get a mba or save up for a macbook pro.

Yes, third party optical drives do work with the Air, sometimes better than the Superdrive itself, oddly enough. I have an iOmega SuperSlim optical drive and it retains functionality even when plugged into a USB hub, unlike the SuperDrive, which must be plugged directly in to one of the USB slots on the Air itself.

Ziatron is correct that Flash does not work on an iPad, but it does work on a Mac. See Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.160.

Your MacBook is compatible with Mac OS X 10.6.8, which is the minimum required to install the current version of iTunes and sync devices running iOS 7. It doesn't need to be compatible with Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks.

I will be traveling to Hungary, Austria,Germany on a river cruise. Will I be able to use my iPad and if so what,if anything do I have to do before travel?

Most hotels, resort, hostel & motel in Europe provide power plug adapter if you forget to bring one or couldn't get them, no worries.
Also, most countries you are going do sell travel adapted in Apple Store & Apple Resellers.
In addition, almost all international airport sell them as well if you plan to do a last minute shopping.
By the way, you can lease or rent SIM / Micro-SIM card for your iPad in case you have an unlocked 3G model.
    Rates are pretty reasonable.
This will allow you to Tweet/FB and download all your travel photos.

  • Will I be able to access all my photo libraries with an upgrade?  Will I loose anything?

Will I be able to access all my photo libraries with an upgrade?  Will I loose anything?

Yes you will be able to acces evrything
No you will not lose anything - unless something goes wrong
And of course you must never do an upgrade or update until you have a ood current backup so you are proected whe something does go wrong - and it is are but it does happen - in fact sometimes even  a user does something wrong - but the backup protects against that too

Thanks.  That's a great relief.  Do you know if the photos will be correctly formated or will they change in Picassa?

    Hello,
I am currently an owner of an Ipod Touch 4th generation. I see you are having problems with your Ipod Touch, so I will try to find a solution to your problem.
Hold down the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10sec. or until Apple logo appears (Nothing will be lost, this is just a "Hard Reset")
    Hope that helps!
If none of the above solutions work, can you please respond back ASAP as I will try to find another solution to your problem (This might even help others with the same problem!)
    Cheers!

  • How Play Blu-Ray on MacBook Air?

    Mavens,
Have you ever travelled with your MacBook Air...intending to view a few Netflix originated Blu-Ray discs to fend off the boredom of yet-another-bland-hotel-room...only to discover the Apple SuperDrive doesn't support Blu-Ray?
What did you do? Is there a legitimate way to view Blu-Ray discs on an Air? Are there reliable 3rd-party drives/software available?
    Your suggestions are invited.
    Thanks,
    Plane Wryter

Step 1: Connect the Blu-ray drive to the MacBook Air via the USB interface
Step 2: Get the MacBook Air Blu-ray Player
Step 3: Install and run MacBook Air Blu-ray Player software on your MacBook Air
Step 4: Play Blu-ray Disc, Blu-ray ISO file, BDMV folder on MacBook Air
Insert your BD into the Blu-ray driver and MacBook Air Blu-ray Player software will load and the BD will be played automatically.
Otherwise, you can press "Open Disc" button to select BDMV folder or press "Open File" button to choose Blu-ray ISO file to play.
Finally, you can have a great Blu-ray fun on your MacBook Air.
By the way, you can change it into full-screen mode, which will bring you into a more fantastic Blu-ray media world.
