Will I be able to reinstall and activate cs4 on an upgraded Macbook pro?

CS4 question: i'm upgrading my macbook pro with a Crucial 512gb solid state hd and 8gb of memory. The drive is an mx100. I'm told by Adobe chat to deactivate the license before uninstalling the software before the upgrade is done. Then to install from my original discs and activate the previous license on the new drive. Do you see anything i may have missed in these instructions that might cause it not to work? Would this new hard drive and memory make cs4 incompatible to run on this upgraded Mac? So scared I'll have to subscribe to the cloud! Thanks for any help you can give to alleviate my fears.

First off be sure you have updated to 10.10.1
I have helped someone else install Photoshop CS4 on Yosemite, so it does work.
As a precaution, run a permission repair on your boot volume from Disk Utility.
I would go for a fresh installer instead of the discs. Get it here:
