Will i get a free mountain lion upgrade

I am from india. I am looking to buy macbook pro 15inch base version today.
As,the macbook comes with lion preinstalled will i get mountain lion a free upgrade ?
Or should i buy the mountain lion.
Please tell me.

The free upgrade program ended some months ago, so if you buy a MacBook Pro with OS X Lion, you will have to pay $19.99 to upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.
In that case, and if you don't want to pay for Mountain Lion you have two options:
1. Buy a MacBook with OS X Mountain Lion.
2. Get your Mac with OS X Lion and upgrade to OS X Mavericks when it's released this fall. See > http://www.apple.com/osx/preview
If you want to upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion, make a backup of your data

  • If I buy Lion now (from the App store) will I get a free Mountain Lion upgrade?

I haven't been able to find any definitive documentation on this. I have a MBP and Mac Pro at work and haven't upgraded either of them to Lion for various reasons. However, I have now been tasked with some App programming and need Lion. So, my question is - If we buy Lion from the App Store will we get a free upgrade to Mountain Lion?
    Thanks everyone!

Mountain Lion will be upgradable from Snow Leopard, so if you have not yet purchased Lion then it may be worth it to just wait and not go through two upgrades.

  • When will I receive my free mountain lion upgrade code

I submitted my request yesterday.  Should'nt I get the email with my code soon? I thought it was a quick process.

Yeah, Apple Support is telling everyone "up to 72 hours". Myself I am sitting at about 28 hours without a single email from Apple. If you do not receive it within 72 hours give support a call.

If I buy a Macbook Pro from Bangladesh after July 3rd will I get OS X Mountain Lion free?

Yes, any Macs purchased after June 11th will be entitled for free upgrade to Mountain Lion. Anything before that date, you will have to pay US$19.99 for the upgrade.

I've asked a moderator to remove your code information.  Unfortunately, you included it in the title of the thread as well so it will stand out quickly to any just browsing the forums.  You may find that when you try to use it, someone else may have already used it to activate their own.  If that happens, make sure you let Apple know about your posting here.
This is only a user to user forum...  It is not for official contact with Apple.  You will need to call them directly if you have problems redeeming your code.

  • Why is it taking do long for my free mountain lion upgrade?

I don't understand why I should have to apply for an upgrade when I bought the computer within the grace period for A free upgrade .Then after submitting the application I never even got a confirmation email. The whole reason I didn't just wait to buy the MacBook pro was because I was eligible for the
Upgrade for free. If I don't receive my code today I will just return the machine and re buy a new one with mountain lion pre loaded.

Welcome to the vaunted "Apple Experience".... If all 4 million of us (and did they really sell that many things eligible for an upgrade?)  showed up unannounced for a genius bar appointment at our Apple store to request our Mountain Lion upgrade redemptions, we could really get their attention.
Right now it is rumoured that Apple is outsourcing the verification of our claims to DogBert's Elbonian workers at 31 cents an hour. They get to read our personal proofs of purchase and decide if they look real or fake. But because that process would be too involved, it has been reported that the Elbonians instead print out each claim, fold it into a paper airplane, and judge the validity of the claim by how far the paper airplane flies. Because it is Dogberts Elbonian workers who are using mountains of paper in this futile exercise, Apple can deny that they are personally responsible for mowing down whole forests to print these millions of proofs.
If we all showed up at the Genius bar, Apple would instead be forced to have $8.45/hr. workers deal with our requests. And all they would be able to tell us is send a claim to Dogbert, so we wouldn't adversely impact Dogbert's workers. The Apple store blue shirts, unable to solve our problem, would at least be able to ask us how it feels to be an Apple owner, and offer consolation why trying to sell us a nano....
Let's just hope the upcoming war in Elbonia doesn't get in the way of the codes....

  • Free Mountain Lion upgrade with new computer. How?

I was told at Apple store that I would receive a code to get a free upgrade for a new computer I purchased
on 8/15/12. It had Mac OS X 10.7.4  loaded and the free upgrade would be to Mountain Lion.
How does one get this code?

See Apple - Free OS X Mountain Lion upgrade Program.

  • Am I really too late for the free Mountain Lion upgrade?

    Hi,
I bought my new MBP retina on June 13th, and just discovered I should've ordered Mountain Lion before August 26th.
Is it really true I have no chance of getting a free upgrade to Mountain Lion anymore?
I just can't imagine this being true. 30 days is not a long time (I was on vacation for 3 weeks in August!), and I've
never gotten a message or an alert from Apple to order within 30 days when it came out.
I hope someone can enlighten me.

  • Invalid code to upgrade to free mountain lion upgrade after purchasing a new mac

Sorry if this is in the wrong section but after purchasing an iMac, I was told that I was eligible to receive a free upgrade to Mountain Lion, but after I entered the password to open the content code 'file' it said it was invalid. I recieved the code after following the instructions located here. Does anyone know why this is happening or how I can fix this? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

  • How long before I get a confirmation number for my free Mountain Lion upgrade?

I sent all my information from the Apple upgrade site this morning.  I have yet to receive my download instructions via email as promised.  Is there a big delay in doing this?

  • When will I receive free mountain lion upgrade

Been waiting over a week now. Tried to resubmit and the system says it has already been claimed. Will Apple make good on this offer? Two new MBP Retinas seem a reasonable justification.

Yeah, Apple Support is telling everyone "up to 72 hours". Myself I am sitting at about 28 hours without a single email from Apple. If you do not receive it within 72 hours give support a call.

  • Free mountain lion upgrade

Im just wondering, who will get the mountainlion upgrade for free. I read somewhere from june 11th on. Is this correct? Hmmmmmmm

I haven't received a redemption code yet, and I started this as soon as the site came up. Waiting an hour to save $20 doesn't make sense to me. My time is worth more than that. I think it's best just to purchase it, especially if you have more than one Mac.
Apple seems to forget that 40% of the US population lives in the Eastern time zone, so if they release an update at 6:00 am their time, it's 9:00 am our time, when we are all hovering over our Macs waiting for the software to become available and hitting their servers at the same time. The load on their servers would be spread out better if they released it at 3:00 their time, 6:00 ours. I'm sure that can be automated, so no one has to get up early.

  • Mountain Lion upgrade, plus App Store...

Im going to be getting a Mac Mini sometime soon, (hopefully in the next few weeks) and was wondering the Free Mountain Lion upgrade, is that only for buying from the Apple online Store, or does it go for anywhere you buy the system new?
Also i have bought the Numbers app on my iPhone 4, and also had the download for my iPad 2 as well for free, will this count on my Mac Mini from the App store, or will i have to pay for the app again when i get my Mini?
    Thanks
    Jon

You will need to Buy the OS X version to use on the Mac.

  • My free mountain lion download didn't work

I bought my MBA after the June 11 deadline, so I am eligible for the free upgrade.  I followed the instructions, got the codes, entered the content code in the redeem form, and got an error message that said something to the effect that it wasn't working at this time.
I tried again today, but it said that my content code was already used.
ARGH!!!  I never got my DL.
And, there's no way to connect with Apple.
Anyone out there have any ideas about how I can get my free Mountain Lion??
    Cheers,
    Emily
