Will i get ilife(iphoto, imovie etc) in OS x Mountian Lion.

In the specification of the OS x Mountian Lion, apple has not mentioned the name of ilife application in the list of applications they are going to provide so i am bit concern that will I get the ilife if I update my system with OS x mountain lion.
List of application they are going to provide are listed here
http://www.apple.com/osx/specs/

Yes, it will still be there doing a normal upgrade. If you decide to waste time by erasing the drive before you upgrade to Mountain Lion, you will have deleted it.
Did you Mac come with Lion preinstalled, or was it another OS?
If Lion, I believe you can actually download the Apps from the Mac App Store for free, should you ever need to, but I've never been in that situation to verify the statements I've seen to that effect. It would only be possible on that machine. See the info about iLife on About Lion Recovery: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718

  • How can I get ilife (iphoto/imovie) on my Used Retina ... Previously purchased new mbp 17 and have an Imac 27....

Well I just purchased another Retina mbp 15 and this ones a keeper (sold 2 before this was just looking for a mint one).  Now my issue is I cant get ilife (in particular imovie and iphoto) without purchasing it and I dont want to do that.... yet.
I did purchase a brand new mbp 17 in 2010 but not sure if I registered it or logged into the app store. Dont think I did because I dont see any downloads available in the app store.
I have an imac 27 Im using right now and I dug up the appllications cd it came with.
    My questions are:
How can I install ilife or any of the apps without buying them?
Are the applications one use only for the specific machines?
Is there any way to use the resource dvd to install onto my retina ?
(regarding this I have tried using remote disc and my retina wont show anything under remote disc when the cd is in my ima )
ANy input or help is appreciated. I did enjoy using imove and iphoto alot and would like to have them again.

I appreciate the replies. Grant if I have an Imac and the apps on the cd then what you are saying is it should be tied to my apple id and therefore I should be able to install them on my new macbook?
I dont recall when I bought my mbp 17 if it had a cd and back then it was my first mac.. dont think there was an app store just itunes. It isnt tied to my account but shouldnt it be? I guess the person who bought that 17 from me got a free bundle :/
Its not a matter of $30 I understand that fully. Its just its $30 wasted if I am able to get it.
What im confused about (and I dont care to argue apples reasoning for it) is tying ilife to 'that Mac alone" is just dumb when a new owner of a machine cant install it and has to buy it again. that means the original owner keeps the apps for any machine he wishes and it isnt for the machine.
I think im confusing myself and possibly answered my own question but ill leave it lol.

  • I have iPhone 4S and I can't download iPhoto, iMovie etc. For free. Why?

I have iPhone 4S and I can't download iPhoto, iMovie etc. For free. Why? When iOS7 went out it should be free. Iike it was said at keynote. I can't even download it on other iP5

It's free if you bought iPhone, iPad, iPod touch after 1st of Nov. Sept 2013
GarageBand is free on the App Store for all iOS 7 compatible devices; additional GarageBand instruments and sounds are available with an in-app purchase. iPhoto, iMovie, Pages, Numbers, and Keynote are free on the App Store for qualifying iOS 7 compatible devices activated on or after September 1, 2013. See www.apple.com/ios/whats-new/ for iOS 7 compatible devices. Downloading apps requires an Apple ID.

  • If I do a full system restore on my MBP  will i get ilife off of the boot disks that came with the computer?

If I do a full system restore on my MBP  will i get ilife off of the boot disks that came with the computer.
Hi on my MBP i am going to restore it.
It came with iLife will this be on the boot disks?
    Thanks

If your computer shipped with Snow Leopard, that means it shipped with two disks: an Install disk that contains the OS, and an applications disk that contains the iLife suite. You would use the applications disk to reinstall iLife.

  • Where's iPhoto, iMovie etc?

    Hi
Up until now I have been running 10.5 on my MacBookPro but when it recently came back from a repair at the Apple store it had 10.6 installed on it. Great I thought, until I found that 10.6 doesn't have iPhoto, iMovie and iDVD.
It's no big deal because I'm just going to wipe the HD and install 10.5 again, but I'm just curious to see if anyone knows why this is. Is it simply a grubby little ploy to force you to buy iLife??? I thought an upgrade to an OS was supposed to improve it and add new features rather than take them away.

+At this rate, by the time we get to OS 10.9 all it will come is Stickies, Font Box and Chess...+
    Not quite....
The grey install disks that come with each computer do contain iLife; the current $29 Snow Leopard retail disk does not. Since your Mac did not come with SL, the shop most likely used an SL disk to install the OS - that is probably how you wound up without iLife. Now, from what I've read, you should be able to use one of your original disks (I believe it would be disk 2, possibly marked "Applications"), insert it, and then choose optional installs or applications for a custom install for iMovie, etc. (do not remember exactly what the options said and I no longer have any 10.5 disks).
As an aside, if I had to take my Mac in and the shop was going to do me a "favor" by upgrading to another OS, I would very politely insist on getting a disk. An OS install without an install disk is worthless - free or not.

  • OS X Lion Version 10.7.5 and after new hard drive I have lost iPhoto, iMovie, etc.

I have the OS X Lion version 10.7.5 and after a new hard drive I have lost iPhoto, iMovie, Garage Band etc. I have tried the re-install of the OS X Lion and checking the app store under 'purchases' but none of these options were successful.
When I click on iPhoto in the App Store, it says that it cannot update because version 10.9 is required (I tried to transfer iPhoto from my brothers computer but he has a newer laptop which means I cant open it whcih is why it says 'update' but have deleted it now). When I go to iMovie on the App Store, it says I need to pay but the only reason I dont want to do that is that it origionally came on the computer and after paying Apple to install a new hard drive I dont want to have to pay for all the apps that origionally come on it.
    Can someone please help

Then you will need the Original System Reinstall DVD discs that came with the system to reinstall the iLife suite of apps then you can update them from the Mac app store or through Software Update.
Those discs came in the box the computer came in. Hopefully you still have the box and those discs.

  • I purchased my iMac using the same (and only) Apple ID I use to purchase apps. Third-party apps update fine, but the apps that came with my iMac (iPhoto, iMovie, etc) bring up a message saying I have to log in with the account I used to purchase them.

I used my only Apple ID to purchase my iMac (Intel-based one).  I've never been able to update core apps that came with it.  I can update third party apps I've bought (like Coda), but when I try to update Garage Band, iPhoto, iMovie and so on, a popup message appears saying "You have updates available for other accounts" and "Log in with the account you used to purchase this app in order to update it", or similar (see screenshot above).
The OS seems to get its updates fine - it's just the core apps from the App Store.
I've only ever had one Apple ID, so I have no idea what to do.  I went to ask the Genius bar at my local Apple store, and they couldn't help, and insisted that I must have purchased the iMac using a different account, but I definitely didn't.  There are a few posts on non-Apple forums of this happening to other people, so it must be a rare bug.
I'm a little concerned it may affect my ability to update from Lion to Mountian Lion.  Can anyone help?

Have you done a Disk Repair and a Disk Permissions Repair?
If that doesn't resolve the problem I would suggest calling customer support about this issue as it is most likely on their (Apple's) end that the problem exists.

  • IMovie crashes every time I attempt to export or view projects full screen. Any solutions? Will upgrade to iLife '11 (iMovie 9.0) fix this?

The subject line of this post pretty much explains everything.
I use a MacBook White from 2009 which I upgraded to Snow Leopard earlier this year.  I use iMovie 8.0.6, have never upgraded to iLife '11 (iMovie 9.0).
I've never in these 3 years had a problem exporting videos to YouTube, I have 62 on there and just now have an issue. Every time I try to view a project full screen AND try to export a video iMovie crashes and shuts down fairly quickly (after about 20 seconds when attempting export).
Today I went to the Apple store about this, didn't get much resolution on it. They couldn't determine what was wrong. The attempted fix they were going to suggest I had already done (deleting the plist and restarting iMovie).  And that fix didn't help.  They checked my hard drive and it was fine.
Has anyone had this same problem? What did you do to fix it (if anything)?
One solution, which is what I'll probably do, is to buy and upgrade to iLife '11 (iMovie 9.0)... but without backing things up as I don't have an external hard drive and can't afford to buy one anytime soon (am unemployed).  Where my videos are on YouTube may serve as my "backup" and "hard drive" (you can take videos form online, put them on your computer and into iMovie).
What do you suggest for fixing this? Is there another way to do it without upgrading to iMovie 9.0?  What are your expriences with this issue?

Turns out I'm going to have to BUY iLife '11 (from Best Buy) because the download version on Apple's site is for those with Lion only and I have Snow Leopard. This is becoming a major PAIN. Apple shoudl continue to offer its older products online at least (if not in their stores) rather than just dropping them completely.

  • If I do an FTP install will I get latest Kernel - fuse etc etc etc ??

Hi... I love ARCHBOOT and my local repository on a usb stick though I'm about to do a reinstall to get all the new 2.6.30 stuff. ARCHBOOT isn't going to work for now I think...
SO, may I ask that IF I boot from the CD and do an FTP install will I get the latest base stuff AND all everything else the latest versions?   I thnk yes, though thought to ask the gurus here....
    thank you!

Yes.... good to have comfirmation.... thanks.
I remind myself how much I enjoy since last week using ARCHBOOT and a ocal repository / repo-add all on one usb stick for total offince SUPER fast install. I am going to attempt to update te core database for ARCHBOOT as doing an ftp install is not so interesting/logical for me now,  as I get better with ARCH.
    many thanks!

  • Preinstalled iPhoto, iMovie etc. are gone after Upgrade.

    Hello,
I got iPhoto and iMovie included with my MacBook Pro 13 (Early 2011), and I recently have changed my HDD to SSD. My question is how can I get these apps back again? The apps won't appear in Purchases tab in AppStore. I don't have any installation CDs, just a backup partition on my HDD. I also got Time Machine backup to external Drive, but I don't want to restore the whole info from it, just some apps... Also I have bought Space Gremlin from the AppStore - can't see it either. Any way to get the apps back will be great!
    Thank you for your time!
    Regards,

How old is your Mac and is it used?
If your Mac is fairly old and the 10.2 disk that came with the computer was your original System Restore disk, then Tiger must have been purchased separately and Software Update was used later to upgrade to 10.4.10. But the Tiger upgrade would not have included any iApp's. Buying iLife '05 or iLife '06 would be needed to give you all the iLife App's. If you bought or received your Mac used, then someone did not include the Tiger and iLife software packages with it. If this is the case, the only way to recover your programs is to buy iLife.
If your Mac is fairly new, then your System Restore disks should contain Tiger 10.4.? and include all the iLife '06 App's. Again, if you bought or received your Mac used, then you may be missing the original System Restore disks that came with it. If this is the case, the only way to recover your programs is to buy iLife.
Either way, If you do not have a system backup, then the only way to recover your missing App's is to buy iLife. Also, if you want to risk losing Tiger 10.4, do not attempt to run the installation program from the Jaguar 10.2 disk.

  • HT4718 I have successfully upgraded to Mtn Lion on my Mac OS X10.8.3 Desk Top and am missing several Apps - such as IPhoto, IMovie, etc. What's up w/that?

I recently upgraded my Snow Leopard OS X to Mtn Lion, vers. 10.8.3 and all seems well, however, I seem to be missing several (many?) apps which I had before and which I believe came with my Mac OS X desktop when I purchased it in 2012. Most importantly, I'm missing IPhoto and IMovie. The "Apps" folder is certainly much smaller now than before and I don't seem to have provision to re-install my apps - several of which are absolutely essential.
I did go to the App Store, signed in and looked at my purchases. They did NOT include IMovie and IPhoto = which are absolutely essential to my use of this Mac - and the reason I purchased it in the first place.
If you have suggestions, please and give me some ideas. I am a 73 year old Disabled Veteran and def need help!
    Thanks to one and all.

Since your Mac came with Snow Leopard preinstalled you will need to use the disks that came with it to reinstall iPhoto and iMovie with a custom install of the Installed Bundled software.  You should have a disk similar to #3 in the screenshot (lower right hand corner).
Do a custom install of the iApps you need and apply the necessary updaters from the Apple Downloads web page.

  • None of my Apple software opens: iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie etc

My desktop mac kept getting locked up. I closed the programs and forced a shut down and restart.
After the restart, it seems that a piece of software did not load because now iPhoto, iTunes, i Movie, the Finder, About this mac, documents, will not open. I get that round rainbow icon that keeps going and nothing happens.
I have no idea where to start.  I'm not even sure which operating system it's running (I did purchase about two years ago before the "new" OS was released).
If anyone has any suggestions on where to even start, I would appreciate it.
    Thanks
    Diane

    Thank you for your reply.
As I said, I don't know what OS version its running because the "about this mac" will not open.
I want to say that it is iPhoto 11 ???  iTunes wanted me to update and when I started that download everything went kerplooey!  It seems that everything I click on gets hung up.  I had to exit out of this and resign in just to reply.
I was able to get my serial number off the bottom of the stand.  Is there somewhere I can go to find out what the machine came with? Is there somewhere else I may be able to to look to get the version of apps I'm running?  Again, the software that came with the mac is not opening so I can't get you the information you are looking for.
My documents and downloads icons on the bottom of my screen only show a dotted outline of a square.  I'm almost afraid to reboot again.
My photos are there, its just that when I click on something it wont open.
Itunes said that the library was locked, however, I can not get into My Documents to find the files to see if its on read only.
    Finder will not open.
I get the "not responding" message.

  • HT4889 Will this keep my iphoto events, etc intact? I've read that this method may cause them to be lost, requiring a manual reorganization of the entire photo library. Is this true?

Wil migration assistant keep my iPhoto library intact and organized exactly as it is on my old MacBook? I've read
that I may have to reorganize the entire library including the events, etc. thanks in advance for your help!

Migration Assistant will keep your iPhoto library organized exactly as it is - all it is doing is moving your iPhoto Library package file from one Mac to the other. Where did you read otherwise?

  • Just bought a new iMac Sep 2012 - no iLife (iPhoto, iMovie or GarageBand) ?

I keep finding evidence on Apple pages and external sites that I should have received the iLife package already installed on my new iMac - purchased in the last few days (Sep 2012).
I have since upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2 - still nothing.
I'm new to Mac - am I missing something?

    Thanks everyone.
Turns out the iMac was already registered to someone else a few months before I bought it. It also kept crashing and freezing, so I'm assuming that someone else bought it, registered it, discovered that it was faulty then returned it... it was then sold to me as a 'brand new' machine.
I was not able to see any available downloads for the iLife pack as you need to register your machine before the free apps become available in the App Store. I could not register a machine that was already registered to someone else.
I questioned the store about it and they sent me another iMac right away - bit mad that they sold me a used iMac in the first place, but credit to them for sending a fresh one out quickly.
    Solved.

  • Where is Garageband, iPhoto, iMovie with my new MacMini?

Unless I'm missing it....where are these Apps that suppose to come with my new MacMini? (Garageband, iPhoto, iMovie, etc.)
    Please somebody help me out!

Did they send installation disks? If so, you should be able to install those apps; I believe there will be an "applications" or "optional installs" installer on the disks, so look for that; which you'll have will depend on which edition of the mini you purchased.
If you didn't get installation disks and it's not a very new system and so came with OS X 10.7 Lion (those systems don't include disks), then call Smalldog and ask about the disks.
    Regards.
