hi, new user. i bought a macbook pro 13 i think right about the same time the update came out and while reading these forums noticed people having some issues 'right after updating to 10.6.4'. so i decided not to do the update, figuring i don't know much about it and maybe it would be better to wait in case they need to work out some bugs. my question is: will not updating cause me even more problems later? if they come out with a 10.6.5 will i have a problem going straight to that? thanks for any help, i read this forum all day long and pick up some great tips.

Every system upgrade is intended to iron out bugs at least as well as improve security. If you are having no problems with your present system there is no real need to upgrade.
Yes, you will be able to skip a version or two usually without any adverse effect on the upgrade. You can skip more versions if you download the latest combo update. Some users find this a more reliable way to upgrade even though it's a larger download.

If you buy a phone from Apple online from USA you must have a credit card with a US address and have it shipped to that same address. If you chose a carrier it will be locked to that carrier. You must buy an UNLOCKED phone to use outside of the US, for the unsubsidized price. For unlocked phones you don't need to choose a carrier. the iPhone 5 is not yet available unlocked; only the 4S is sold as unlocked by Apple.
If you buy from the US Apple site you must return it to the US for warranty service.

WIll I have duplicate problems when I Export / Import Project?

This is my first try at Exporting / Importing a Project to benefit from having Aperture on the road on a MacBook.
I run a secondary instance of Aperture on my MacBook with a managed library. I used it last week to rate, and adjust 40 images from a shoot while on the road. Those images are in Project ABC. My objective is to not lose all the adjustment work done while away now that I wish to re-locate these images to my primary instance of Aperture which runs on an iMac. I won't need them any longer on the MacBook.
I've exported Project ABC, and it's now sitting on the desktop of the iMac ready for import into Aperture where the library is also managed.
Between the shoot and today, however, I had uploaded the same images from my CF card to the iMac's Aperture library into Project XYZ. No work has been performed on any of them, but the image names are identical to those in Project ABC waiting to be imported.
My plan is to import Project ABC, and, assuming everything comes over in good shape, to delete the unadjusted masters/versions in Project XYZ one by one.
Question 1: When image GEN_1234.nef with all its adjustments, etc., contained in Project ABC, is imported, will Aperture have a problem that GEN_1234.nef (unadjusted) already is in the library in Project XYZ?
Question 2: I've checked the MacBook after exporting, and Project ABC looks as though nothing ever happened. Does this sound right? I'd expected the Masters to be gone, but "M" toggles between the master and the adjusted version.

Problem #2 is not a problem. We have been able to somewhat install Oracle when those warnings appear. The client install works fine with those warning messages in the terminal window. NOTE: They are just warnings...

If your phone is locked to a particular carrier, you must contact them to request they unlock it. Once they've taken care of that and you've followed the instructions to complete the unlock process, you will be able to use the phone elsewhere.

No, you should not. There are problems trying to go the other way, but updating a newer iOS release from a backup of an older iOS release has always been supported and is the basic means of setting up a new device from a previous one.

Switching from PC to MAC -Will I have a problem with Lightroom?

I am getting ready to switch from a PC to a MAC ( I think). I know I will need new Lightroom software. Other than that, will I have any problems. Will it read my files automatically? Sepcifically, will it maintain my key words, ratings, metadata, and such?

No. There is a download for each system. What is common is the licence key to activate the install. The latest update issued today is here.

If you have a License for LR 2.x you can download and install its free and you can have it installed on two computers. One can be Mac and one Win or two on either system.
P.S The update is the full program so you do not need to install the original version, you just have to input the License Key. keep it safe.

There is always a possibility there will be a problem, but doubtful.
Having a backup of all your data including for the Address Book and iCal, you are covered.

According to the App Store, Pages compatibility is v10.9 or later.
Same for iPhoto and Numbers.
Those apps will not run on v10.8 Mountain Lion.

I also have another question. I can't find an external blu-ray burner for a mac anywhere. How to I simply watch my exported 1080p movie edited in imovie on my hd tv? Apple tv only supports 720p correct? I read that the simplest way to watch it would be to save it on a flash drive then use a playstation 3 to watch the movie. Does anyone else have any other ideas? For 1080p via iMovie '11, just remember to optimize video for “Full – Original Size”.
The latest Apple TV supports HD.
I've seen low cost Blu-Ray DVD players for less than USD$100.00. I've also seen reasonably priced external BR for Mac...try OWC, as one example.
