Will I loose all the programs I am using currently if I upgrade to 10.5?

I am running 10.3.9 which is just short of new technology. I have 2 new printers I cannot use without upgrading but I have programs I depend on and replacing one particular program is cost prohibitive. I have the new 10.5 but I'm afraid to install it. Will my eMac PowerPC G4 handle OS 10.5? If yes, will I lose the Classic OS9 environment? I am using Adobe Go Live CS2 for our company website. Will it run on 10.5? An answer to all these questions would be extremely welcome!!

Will my eMac PowerPC G4 handle OS 10.5?
Your 1GHz eMac http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/emac/stats/emac_1.0.html is capable of running Leopard, however you need to increase the RAM to 1GB.
If yes, will I lose the Classic OS9 environment?
Leopard does not support running OS 9.2.x classic.
I am using Adobe Go Live CS2 for our company website. Will it run on 10.5?
Here's the requirements when CS2 was released:
Mac OS X version 10.2.8 through 10.3.8 (10.3.4 through 10.3.8 recommended)
PowerPC G3, G4, or G5 processor (G4 or G5 recommended)
It may run on Tiger 10.4, but it's doubtful on Leopard. Contact Adobe about whether it will run with Tiger.
If CS2 will run in Tiger 10.4, this is your best OS upgrade. You can still run classic in Tiger. For Tiger, you should increase RAM to 512MB, or 1GB (best). I'm guessing that your new printers will work in Tiger.

will i loose all the photos on my phone if i reset it with a hard reset?

There is no such thing as a "hard reset".
Pictures taken with the device are designed to be regularly copied from the device to a computer as you would with any digital camera. Use the device as designed.

  • If i make a new Itunes account/Apple ID and I log into it on a computer and sync it to my phone, will I loose all the content on my phone?

I used to share an Itunes account but I recently made my own through my phone.  I have all my stuff from my phone backed up on the computer on my old Apple ID/Itunes account.  I want to back up all my current content on my phone to my NEW Apple ID/Itunes account but I'm afraid things will erase if I try to do so.  How can I do this and still keep all the content on my phone currently?

You can't back up iTunes store content to a different account on your oomputer.

  • If i restore to factory settings will i loose all the data in my iTunes on the computer as well?

i was in the middle of doing the software upgrade when my internet cut out. the pone and itunes froze at the stage they were at. i have tried rebooting the iphone but it keeps telling me to conect to itunes and itunes is sayin i need to restore to factory. i backed it up before i started but will restoring it make me lose everything or should it be safe because of the backup? i dont know what to do

    Hello!
If you 'backed up' and 'synced' all your data before starting you don't have to worry. You can go to Edit->Preferences->Devices in iTunes to see the backup you made.
After you have factory restored, you can read up http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766 for help on how to restore from your backup, or search Google!
If you find your backup in iTunes, you're completely safe!

  • I am thinking of updating to the newest version for my Mac Laptop. I have the 10.6.8 should I update to the Mountain Lion OS X? If I update will I loose all my data, like documents, music, pictures?

Wondering if I should update my Mac Notebook which is a 10.6.8 versions to the newest Mountain Lion version? What are the positive and negatives about the new version? Also if I update will I loose all the date on my computer like documents, music, pictures etc..?

First check the Compatibility of your Mac...
    Upgrade to Mountain Lion
Then... Before attempting any Major Upgrade... get yourself an External Hard Drive... and create a Bootable Clone Backup of your current Hard Drive...
By far the easiest way to make such a Backup, is to use something like
    SuperDuper  http://www.shirt-pocket.com/
    or CCC  http://www.bombich.com/
That way, should anything untoward happen during the Upgrade,
    you will NOT LOSE ANYTHING.
(Get an EHD that is at least equal to your current Drive...)
Also, Check here for compatibility of 3rd party Software you may be using...

  • Will i loose all my songs

my sister and i are sharing an itunes account. we both have iphones. when she would buy stuff like music or apps i would get them just like she would get mine. my question is will i loose all the songs i got from her if i sync my phone on my computer.

... my question is will i loose all the songs i got from her if i sync my phone on my computer.
Your question confuses me a bit, since if all your iTunes purchases were made with the same Apple ID then you will not lose anything.
The iPhone is smart enough to know the iTunes Library with which it is synced. It can only be synced to one at a time. If you attempt to sync her iPhone with your computer, or any computer other than hers for example, iTunes will ask you what you want to do. You can transfer its purchased content to your computer, or you can elect to erase and sync it to your iTunes library.
"Erase and sync" does exactly what it says and in that order. First, the phone is erased. Then, it is synced to the iTunes Library that is on that computer's account. If your iTunes Library already contains your purchased music, then after syncing the iPhone will too. On the other hand if that iTunes Library is empty to begin with, guess what happens.

You will lose some but not all infor/media. To not lose anything:

  • HT1925 will I loose all my itunes songs if i uninstall/reinstall itunes ????

I have an error msg when itunes starts up, saying registry settings used by itunes drivers for burning cds/dvds are missing.
It wants me to uninstall and reinstall itunes software. If I do, will I loose all the song's on my computer that
    were stored in it>?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
When you reinstall iTunes, your iTunes library won't be modified, so you won't lose any of the songs you have in it, but make a backup of your iTunes library on another folder just in case

  • If i update to ios 5 will it loose all my progress on different apps

i want to update my ipod 4 but it says that it will delete all my apps, so will i loose all the data i have in those apps if i update
    please help me!!!!!!!!!

What is your current OS? If you have 5.0 and are updating to 5.0.1, the update can be done right on the device. Settings > General > Software Update. This will ensure that no data will be lost on the iPad and will be restored after the update.
If you have iOS 4.x, you will need to update in iTunes, just the way you were doing it. This message indicates that you have used a different computer to sync with in the past-- is this correct?

  • If I reset my iPad will I loose all my apps too?

If I reset my iPad will I loose all the apps too?

    Yes that's fine.
Every time you purchase something on iTunes, they link the purchases to your apple ID.
You'll notice the apps you've purchased before will either have 'installed' next to them in the App Store, or 'install'.
If it has a price next to it, you'll be charged, so be careful downloading ones you think you've already purchased.

  • My husband(less technologically inclined than I am), decided to delete programs from our iMac, now it has a grey screen and won't get past it. If I insert the Application Install DVD, to repair the disk, will I loose all my pictures and music?

My husband(less technologically inclined than I am), decided to delete programs from our iMac, he turned it off and now it has a grey screen and won't get past it. It won't start in safe mode and when I  If I insert the Application Install DVD, to repair the disk, will I loose all my pictures and music?

With a corrupt disk, the install procedure is most likely going to fail.
    How old it the disk?
You might be able to reformat it to fix the problem. Of course that means you lose all of your data.
The other alternative is to get a new disk drive and put that in your Mac and install OS X
Then put the old disk drive in an enclosure and see what can be recovered from it.

  • HT201250 When getting a replacement Seagate hard drive for my Imac through Apple, will they restore my system to it's current state? Or will I have to do it myself though Time Machine? Will Time machine restore all the programs as well?

Apple has determined that certain Seagate 1TB hard drives used in 21.5-inch and 27-inch iMac systems may fail. These systems were sold between October 2009 and July 2011.
Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP) will replace affected hard drives free of charge.
Will this replacement program restore my system to its current state after the new drive is installed? If not, will I have to have all my original disks to re-install all the programs on my current computer, or will Time Machine restore them as well?

Most of them will tell you to backup your data.
Time Machine is nice, but unless you are interested in archival backup, Carbon Copy Cloner is a lot easier to recover from:

I have an apple iMac G5 running Mac OS 10.4.11 can i upgrade it to 10.5?
If so will i also loose all the software currently installed on my Mac? eg. Adobe software.
I have moved countries (opposite side of world) so i do not have my install disks, or the disks that came with my Mac.
Where can i get the 10.5 upgrade from?
Do i need my original disks that came with my Mac?
    - Thanks if anyone can help
    Note:
I have never had any problems with my G5, it's been my awesome helper these past 7 years, I can't say the same thing for my new Mac, but it seems now my poor G5 is slowly being made redundent because they no longer write software for it.
I don't see why i should pay for a new Mac because my old one does not always function on the web, or having a new printer because it does not support the new software.
My New Mac Laptop has had no end of troubles since i bought it less than a year ago.
What happened to Mac being a sign of Quality??

First off, all upgrades can potentially break a system.  First and foremost, backup your data before installing anything.  Next read this tip as 10.5 loses Classic compatibility, and has these other issues outlined on the tip: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2275
