Will I Loose Family Sharing if I Wipe my iPhone as New

I want to get a fresh install of IOS 8 on my iPhone 5S.  Will I loose family sharing that I’ve set up if I wipe my iPhone and set up as new.  I’d be using my same Apple ID when I set it up as new.
Thanks.

So even if I log back in with my iCloud account on a brand new install of IOS 8 on my iPhone I would loose Family Sharing which I’m the organizer?

On your Mac, try to access your gmail account. There should be a link you click for "Forgot My Password". Click it and try to retrieve your password.

  • Family Sharing Notifications not appearing on iphone

I am having an issue with family sharing.  I am the organizer of my family share.  I have invited all my family who all have their own apple id's and all of them are logged in to itunes and icloud on their devices using their own id's. I have an ipad air and an iphone 5s - both are signed in to icloud with my apple id.  I get family notifications to my ipad only - never to my iphone which is what I have on me the most.  I have tried logging out and logging back in, restarting my iphone, logging out of my ipad and nothing works.  All notifications appear on my ipad - but they never appear on my phone.  No ask to buy or anything.  I have gone through setting by setting to make sure everything is identical.
Any help would be appreciated.  I have see the same question in a few places with no resolution.
    Thanks!!

    Hello William,
You may need to verify that this functionality is enabled in Settings -> Passcode (or Touch ID & Passcode).
Allow access to features when iPhone is locked. Go to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode (iPhone models with Touch ID) or Settings > Passcode (other models). Optional features include:
    Today
    Notifications View
Siri (if enabled, see Siri settings)
Passbook (see Passbook at a glance)
Reply with Message (see When someone calls)

  • What exactly will I be missing if I set up my iPhone as new?

....as opposed to restoring from a backup?
Explanation: about 3 iPhones & 2 years ago I jailbroke my iPhone and installed stuff, changed stuff, etc. Since then I have always restored my backups, never set it up as new. There are 2 issues which have propagated all backups since then (I assume these were caused by something I did while jailbroken) - it fails to ring about 50% of the time when someone calls (i.e. as if it's on Silent), and I can't save or bookmark in Maps (or clear the old saves that are in there)

  • From Shared itunes account to ios 8 Family Sharing

In my family everyone has his/her own icloud account for sync and backup and we all use a common i tunes account so we can use one credit card and share bought apps music etc..
Now that ios8 will come, with family sharing, how will this work?
if i set the shared itunes account as the main account, i'll "loose" one of the family members (me) as i have a separate icloud account. i don't want that. is the solution to move my icloud account to the former shared itunes account?
also, will ios 7 users (i.e. with iphone 4) be able to be included in the new family sharing?

As far as I know this is the only info that Apple have so far released about Family Sharing : http://www.apple.com/ios/ios8/family-sharing/
It's not clear to me from that page how you will be set up e.g. whether in your case you could set up the shared iTunes account as the 'organiser' account and then use that to invite each of your own cloud accounts into it. It may be a case of waiting until further details are released later this year.
I'm assuming that a device will have to be on iOS 8 to benefit from it - the bottom of that page includes :
Some features require iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite. Some features require a Wi‑Fi connection. Some features are not available in all countries. Access to some services is limited to 10 devices.

  • Family sharing two separate iTunes accounts

My husband and I have separate iTunes accounts from before we were married, and we have maintained separate accounts because we could not figure out a way to merge them.  This means that we frequently have to buy the same app twice in order to have it on both our devices.  Is is possible to merge these separate accounts through family sharing, or must we be forced to choose one family head (and loose all content on the other).  Home sharing doesn't work because he is active duty and we are often in separate locations.

    Hey Tsumommy,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! Family Sharing was created for this exact situation. Allowing family members to share music, movies, TV shows, books, and apps from their individual Apple ID accounts. As long as both of your accounts have the same payment information, you should be good to go. Setting up family sharing won’t force you to use one account, nor will it cause you to lose all of those great purchases from the other account(s).
For more information on Family Sharing, check out the following resource:
    Apple - iOS 8 - Family Sharing
    https://www.apple.com/ios/whats-new/family-sharing/
Being a family pays off in huge new ways.
Once you set up Family Sharing, family members get immediate access to each other’s music, movies, TV shows, books, and apps. Download what you want with a tap anytime you like. All without having to share an Apple ID or passwords.

  • Why do I need a credit card for family sharing?

i would like like to setup family sharing. I have an iPhone my 7year old has just got an iPad, I would like keep tabs on what he try's to download etc but in
the process it says I need a credit card on file. I already have a debit card registered And don't have a credit card.  Why is this a problem?

    Hello Laujhull,
The reason you need a credit card is that to comply with child online privacy protection laws, the CVV or security code provides parental consent for the purchases that will be made. You will need to do that before continue and you can even switch back to your debit card after you finish the setup. The article below will explain further.

  • Family Sharing: Shared music not appearing

All of our music has been purchased using my account (say: [email protected]). My wife has historically used my iTunes account for her phone.
I set up family sharing on my iPad/iPhone/Mac+iTunes, and added my wife (say: [email protected]).
She accepted, and I can see her as a member of the family sharing setup.
On her iPhone she selected Settings | iCloud | Family | <her name>, and enabled "Share My Purchases".
    I have done the same.
So in theory, using her iCloud account ([email protected]), she should see all my music, and I should see anything she buys.
I log in to iTunes on my mac (running Yosemite, fully up to date). iTunes is logged in to my account. I select
"iTunes Store", then from the account drop down on the right, I select "Family Purchases".
Here is where things go wrong. She recently purchased an album by "Mumford & Sons" using her account ([email protected]).
When I select my name next to "Purchased", and select "All", I see my music purchases.
When I select her name next to "Purchased", and select "All", I see my music purchases.
I do *not* see her purchase. When I select "Not In My Library", I see nothing (well... actually that U2 album. 'nuff said).
    In summary:
iOS 8.0.2, Yosemite (up to date).
Joined wife to "Family Sharing". All checks out on iPhones settings.
iTunes does not let me see or download an album she purchased.
Is this new Family Sharing system working properly for anyone, or am I doing this wrong?
I'd like to get it sorted before I add all the kids.
    Thank you.
    Paul

I haven't seen any replies, so I thought I'd raise it again to see if anyone is successfully using
Family Sharing. If so... can they describe how they set it up?
    Specifically:
Under ITunes | Family Purchases | <user>, do they correctly see the purchases for each user
Can everyone in the family see the purchases of others, even if they were made before family sharing was set up?
Do you need to authorise every device in the Family to play the music from every account?
Many thanks for any advice you can give on this.
I've also emailed apple support directly and got nothing back for a week.
    Cheers.
    Paul

  • Will I loose apps and settings if I move to Family Sharing instead of using one Apple ID?

I am looking at setting up Family Sharing.  I currently have all of the families devices under my apple ID.  If I create new accounts for each member of the family, will they loose all the apps and data on their devices?

Thanks mende1.  Would you back up all the devices on itunes first, and then create the family sharing?  I have all my kids devices tied to my account and I don't want them to loose all their stuff.
    Thanks

  • If i set up family sharing will my family loose the balance of their iTunes gift cards?

If I set up family sharing, will my other family members loose the balance of their iTunes gift cards on their devices?

They shouldn't lose the balance on their account (the balance is linked to the account, not the device), and when they buy something it should automatically be used : Family purchases and payments - Apple Support
After you set up your family, any time a family member initiates a new purchase it will be billed directly to your account unless that family member has gift or store credit. First, their store credit will be used to pay the partial or total bill. The remainder will bill to the family organizer's card.

  • Family sharing: changing country looses shared family calender

i am a big fan of family sharing. Not only for sharing purchases. I use the shared family calender a lot.
WE moved to Germany, and I would very much like to change the country. but the only way I know how is to:
    leave the family
    change country
    recreate family
But this means that a complete new calender will be created, thus loosing the old one.
yes, I know, the old one will be maintained as a local calender, but I want to maintain it as the shared one for my family.
ANy tips on how to change country in my family without loosing my calender?
@Apple: why don't you allow changing country without leaving the family?

    Hi Mike,
I have no idea about family sharing, but I would recommend to think twice before actually changing the country for your account if you bought (many) movies and tv shows with it. Why? Because if you purchased many movies/tv shows and change the country, Apple will compare your purchases from the US with the media available in the German iTunes Store (mostly on with German sound track) and if something isn't available you will lose the iCloud re-download option for previous purchases. Furthermore some apps/services (e.g. Beats Music, Facebook Paper) are not available in Germany.
    With kind regards,
    David

  • Will family sharing allow multiple Apple IDs to backup to the same Mac?

So currently, my family shares one Apple ID so we can share purchases.  We also share the same iCloud account.  I think that technically you can share one Apple ID for purchases and use multiple iCloud accounts, but that seems confusing.
Anyway, so my wife is getting a new iPhone soon and would like it if we didn't see each other's podcasts in the Podcasts app, etc, so I'm wondering if, now that we have family sharing coming, it would be a good idea for her to get her own Apple ID.  However, we have one "Master iMac" that serves to backup all the iDevices in our home and has our shared family library of music, movies, etc.  If she gets her own Apple ID, will she still be able to back her new iPhone up to this iMac or will she be forced to use her iCloud account for her phone's backup?  iTunes on the iMac uses the current Apple ID, which we all share.
Apple IDs have consistently been the single most frustrating thing for us and the approach for sharing one ID has worked well.  I wish Apple had come out with Family Sharing years ago.  Anyway, now I want to make the transition as painless as possible.

I apologize, but my grammar and spelling were full of errors They "received" iPad minis...
And I am afraid that they will "lose" (not love) all of their data.
    Thanks.

  • HT201382 Our family all bought each other gift cards for Christmas and set up our iPads to family sharing.  When any family member makes a purchase, it will only be charged to the credit card and NEVER the gift card amount! WHY? Is there a way to fix this

We just set up family sharing on our iPads and we all have$50 of iTunes cards that have been placed on our accounts.  Why can no one in the family redeem the money from their itunes cards... Instead being charge ONLY to the "organizers" credit card? This is driving us crazy? Now all our Christmas present have gone to waste? Can anyone help?

    Hello there ssyer,
Family Sharing purchases do all go to the Organizers credit card by default, that is unless there is an existing credit or balance on the account requesting the purchase according to this article:
    Family purchases and payments
After you set up your family, any time a family member initiates a new purchase it will be billed directly to your account unless that family member has gift or store credit. First, their store credit will be used to pay the partial or total bill. The remainder will bill to the family organizer's card. As the family organizer, any receipts generated by the transaction will be sent to you. Learn more about how iTunes Store purchases are billed.
Balances can be verified with this article if you need:

  • Will there be a way to merge iCloud accounts for family sharing in iOS 8?

My family of four has 5 Apple IDs. Each of us has a personal one that we use for mail, contacts, and calendars and we all share an Apple ID for use with the iTunes and App Stores. This way, we can all currently share content without having to buy it four times. However, Apple has solved this problem in iOS 8 with family sharing.
My question is how should I handle this with my current lineup of Apple IDs. I know there's currently no way to merge two Apple IDs into one, and I don't want to just transfer my credit card to my personal Apple ID, as I will lose my purchase history. I know I could add my current "shared" ID to our family account in iOS 8, but I'd like not to have a duplicate of myself. Any advice would be appreciated!

It's not necessary to merge the iCloud and iTunes Store accounts. The Family Organizer should use their own iCloud account when setting up Family Sharing. You'll also be asked to supply the iTunes Store account you want to use to share music, movies, apps, etc., with your family during the setup process. It appears Apple has already addressed this common problem.
