Will I lose my old number
Hi all, just signed up for broadband and phone and requested to keep my current number. On finishing the order the online confirmation confirmed my number would be my existing, however I've no received an email which shows a new number as does the online account. Can anyone confirm if I'll lose my old number despite asking to keep it? Cheers
BT would email, txt or phone you if you are gonna loose your number
When i was switching back to BT from sky it dident say my phone number on the order tracking until 2 days before the switch. it just has some random letters and numbers there instead.
Dont worry about it until you actually switch. If you loose your number it would be due to your current provider not releasing the number.

HT1202 old ipod on my new computer, will I lose my old music
as the title says for some god awful reason I seem to not have transfered some of my old purchases to my new computer and vice versa so before I lose my music I want to make sure it is safe to sync.
Hello there outpost_2,
First here is some information about what the Transferring Purchases function does:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1848.
Essentially you can transfer the purchases you have on your iPod to the New computer. If you have songs on there that were not purchased from the iTunes Store, then they will not transfer.
If that will be an issue then I recommend copying the library from the original computer the iPod used to sync with to the new one. Use this article for assistance with that:

My daughter has created a Apple Id account with my bank details and I have an Apple id account myself on her phone it's comimg up with "This Device Is Already Associated With an Apple ID. If you turn on Automatic Downloads with your Apple ID, you cannot auto-download or download past purchases with a different Apple ID for 90 days." Does this mean if she presses cancel or transfer will my account be affected in anyway.
I set up FaceTime and Messages on four different devices with only one Apple ID. I used the exact method that is described in the video that AnaMusic has provided to you in the link in her response above. That method worked fine for my family, but you can create new Apple ID's just to use for FaceTime and Messages if you like. Many users prefer doing that as opposed to adding new email addresses.
IMO - using unique email addresses (like in the video) makes sense, because we (my family) all have different email addresses anyway, and it was very simple to add each family members email address to both apps and remove my Apple ID email address as the contact address on each device.
BTW .... if you are using your Apple ID on both devices - your phone number should be the number that is showing in the settings - not you daughter's. Did you set up the Apps with your Apple ID? -
Will I lose my old project files etc with upgrading to FCP 2
Hi
I think after upgrading to Leopard with FCP Studio 1 not able to use compressor or DVD Studio Pro to burn. I think I need to upgrade to Studio 2 as my only logical answer without major problems. If I upgrade from 5.0.1 PowerPC version to Studio 2 will my old projects be moved over to upgrade no problem?
Thanks
JasonThanks for the reply guys! Do any of you see another solution to the problem of leopard and using the older apps? I guess it is better to start new after installing leopard. Lastly do I need to trash the old FCP 1 before install of FCP 2 or does it just upgrade it?
Thanks Jason -
If I do a clean install, will I lose the serial number...
from the "about this mac" application. It's nice to have that there in case your dealing with Apple. I know in the past I did something that wiped it out.
No you won't lose it doing a clean install, the only way I'm aware it would be lost it is if you had the logic board replaced. I'm sure you will write it down just in case though.

Hello,
I have a Promise Pegasus R4 storage with a lot of data. I have bought another one and connected it to the first through thunderbolt ( obviously ) , the Promise Utility says on the new one "Synchronizing". On the desktop I see 2 Promise Pegasus icons 1 with the data which is the old Raid and the other empty which is the new one. What will be the result of that daisy chain Synchronization ? Will I lose the old data?
Your fast response regarding that matter is highly appreciated as Im worried for my data they're extremely important.
Thanks. That would seem to be a question best asked of Promise themselves:

This forum is for old, pre-G3 Apple hardware and almost certainly not a forum where you'll be likely to get useful responses.

If I reset and erase my old ipad will I lose my old notes that show up on my new ipad? I don't think so but I am never sure with ipad.
If you have already transfered everything to your New iPad... then Deleting the Content of the Old iPad is safe to do.

Changing e-mail provider - will I lose my mail
Hello, I currently use cable broadband for my e-mail. I am switching to DSL this week. I have about 50 pieces of mail in my mailbox on my Apple. Once I change to DSL and change my mail settings for my new e-mail address, will I lose my old mail in my mailbox? Any help is appreciated!
It's not necessary to delete the old account.
You can uncheck the box for 'Enable this Account' in Mail>Preferences>Accounts>Advanced to hide the account.
or
You can uncheck the box for 'Include when automatically checking for new mail' in the same pane to leave the account visible but without having Mail try to download from it.
That said, if this is an IMAP account, you should make sure that the messages are stored 'On My Mac' so that if the account provider deletes the account from their server, you will keep your own copy of the messages.

Just had to replace iPad and itunes has following error. "iTunes was unable to load provider data from Sync Servies. Reconnect or try again later." I read that others suggest uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes. If I do this, will I lose my old iPad's backup that I need to restore to this new one?
I've resolved the issue with iTunes constantly not responding. It's a bit embarrassing. I had a DVD in the drive that was corrupt, and once I was able to remove it - BAM - iTunes ran perfectly.
I'm still getting the Sync Services message, and my backups are still not showing in iTunes.
Getting there.... I hope! -
Extremely new here guys. Like...I need spoken to as though I am 10. (even though the 10 year olds in my life are much smarter on computers)
Quick version:
Ex had control of computer.
Think I solved problem but not so sure so I was advised to upgrade OS.
Q:
1. Will I still be able to log in under my user account(s) or do I have to create a new one?
2. Will I lose my files? ( I THINK I did a back up on an external drive )
3. I'm pretty sure I will have a new itunes app and iphoto app. Will I lose my old itunes music? Old photos?
I will probably have a lot more questions.
Please be kindYou do not need Time Machine but it is easy to use. Time Machine is integrated in OS X. You already have it and you don't have to purchase any additional software to use it.
The Western Digital My Book for Mac is an external hard disk drive. If you backed up your existing system using "clone" software then you have a backup. If you just dragged music files and photos to it that's a good idea, but that alone does not convey the ability to change your mind and easily revert to Leopard should you want to do that for whatever reason (you probably won't).
The My Book will work with Time Machine also. If you want to use "clone" software I recommend either of the following choices:
Carbon Copy Cloner ($39.95)
SuperDuper! ($27.95)
They are both far more customizable than Time Machine, but a new user may find the options confusing. On the other hand Time Machine has a user interface that consists primarily of this
... which tends to be difficult to misinterpret.
Each backup strategy has advantages and disadvantages. I use Carbon Copy Cloner and Time Machine. Their designs are completely different so using both conveys a high degree of redundancy. -
I have a MacBook pro I recently upgraded to OSX. iPhoto is now not working as it was purchased under an old apple ID and I cant find a way to use my current ID to upgrade it. Also if I delete iPhoto to then repurchase it, will I lose my photo library?
1. iPhoto won’t run any differently based on the Apple ID it’s associated with, but can only be updated from that one.
2. No. Back it up anyway.

I recently changed my Apple ID but I keep getting messages from my Cloud account asking for my password to my old Apple ID. If I go in and delete the current Cloud account that appears to still be associated with my old ID and set up new one with my current ID will I lose all the stuff in the Cloud?
Did you just change the address or did you create a new Apple ID.
