Will I lose my older version if I upgrade

I am using version 3.6.18. Can I install a newer version without losing the version I presently use? I like my present version and don't want to overwrite it in case I lose some toolbar stuff I use everyday.

Yes, Pages 5.x can't open Pages 08 documents. You can have both Pages 08 and Pages 5 on the same computer. If you really need to open the document in Pages 5 you can first export it to Word and then open it in Pages 5. Some formatting will probably be lost though.

Most Simple Back Up:
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex: Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically.
Example of such apps: Chronosync - but there are many others. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store

You shouldn't lose your passwords when upgrading to Firefox 4.0, but you '''are''' "skipping over" 3.5 and 3.6 so you should back up your entire Firefox Profile just-in-case. Version to the next version updates present the least number of problems, but skipping over two major versions can sometimes cause data loss.

Refreshing a webpage in Safari will sometimes load an older version of that same page. Anyone expieriencing this same issue?

I will sometimes refresh a webpage in safari and it presumably loads that page's cached version because the content is days old. Anyone else expieriencing this? I have an iPad 2, iOS5.01.

If you go to Settings >Safari then clear it all,that should help. Also if that does not work try resetting your iPad by holding down the home button and the sleep wake button till the Apple logo appears then let it wake up.

Your Firefox settings and info are kept in a folder separate from the Firefox program, called your profile folder. See [[Profiles]].
Whenever you update Firefox, you profile is kept in tact.

My question is...I have an unlimited family data plan, if I switch to an iphone will I be forced to change data plans? I work in litigation and I use a lot of data. My bill is already outrageous and I don't want to have to pay their ridiculous data charges on top of the $30 "smartphone data plan" charges for both phones.

If you have an old calling plan, you may not have much of a choice but to change plans. If your plan is relatively new, as mentioned above, you can keep your unlimited data by paying full retail price for your phone, getting the phone from somewhere like ebay (Best Buy and the like will also result in the loss of your unlimited data), or try swapping/adding lines. Also, if you aren't aware, as of this spring there is a $30 upgrade fee.

I Am considering upgrading to ios 8 for the new apps and features it brings but I am wondering if my apps will work on ios 8 and data will be saved? I know that when I upgraded to ios 7 all my data was still there, and I have heard ios 8 is similar to ios 7 in terms of look not like ios 6 to 7.

My iPad 4 runs fine on IOS 8.1.2, you should have no problems. To second what mende1 has already said be sure to make a backup first. The one time I had troubles with a update and needed to restore my iPad the iCloud backup fully restored all my infomation.

I had Zotero connect to this with my older Version, it automaticlly upgraded and now I seem to have lost it, how do I get it back?

I need to get my zotero back. It has all my sources for my master's thesis which is due in two to three weeks. www.zotero.com is no help. The button for it no longer shows in the bottom of the screen when I open up Firefox. The automatic Firefox upgrade seems to have destroyed my zotero files with all of my bibliographic entries. I need to get this back ASAP! I really do not want to have to take the time to redo the entire thing. www.zotero.com is no help. I sign in and my library has nothing in it. They are no help as they just tell me to down load it again.

A backup should be done by iTunes as part of the update process, and your apps should remain installed (with their content/settings) after the update. I've only ever had an issue with one update which removed half of my apps, but I just re-installed them - you can always re-download apps for free if they do get removed, but that shouldn't happen (re-downloading : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519)

i have 2nd gen ipod. i updated all my apps. now over half my apps cat be synced to my ipod. can i undo the app update or redownload a prev version?

When iTunes upgrades apps the old ones are sent to the trash, so if you lost your old version recently (or you don't empty your trash bin often) it should be sitting in the trash clearly labeled with the app name and version. Once you find the version you want you can move it to the "Automatically Add to iTunes" folder (this is the path /Users/[your acct here]/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Automatically Add to iTunes but its easier to just search for the folder in any finder window...) and iTunes will revert to to older version.
I then sync'd my ipod touch and turned off the sync apps afterward, so I dont unnecessarily lose my compatible versions.
