Will I lose my ratings if I got Itunes match?

Hi i'm thinking about getting Itunes match. Problem is, I've got about 25000 songs on my itunes all played through my external hard drive and i've given ratings to about 15000 songs. I'm just worried that if I transfer my music to Itunes cloud I will lose all my ratings. Does this happen? Or is there a way that I could keep my ratings and use Itunes cloud?
Any help would be appreciated.
Ryan.

I just got iTunes Match and would like to know if downloading my songs from the cloud uses cellular data if I am not able to use wifi?

    Hi,
Yes, it will use cellular data. If you know that you are going to out of wifi range, you can predownload some music whilst you have a wifi connection.

The fix was to completely remove all Apple Software following guides in previous posts.
Then download and re-install latest iTunes 64-bit, making sure to Run As Administrator.
This fixed it. Now the next thing seems to be that as I move from one device to another to close and restart iTunes between each one. Treat it gently. It seems to break easily and a lot.

  • I have just got iTunes match. It appears that since joining and starting it some tunes have been deleted from my library. They are shown in the listing but iTunes can no longer locate the files. Any suggestions?

If they are showing in the Videos app with a cloud then go into Settings > iTunes & App Store on your phone and set Videos (under the 'Show All') heading 'off' - you might (depending upon which country that you arein) have a similar button for music and the Music app.

  • Will I lose my library when I remove Itunes to install the new program

Will I lose my library when I delete the old version of ITunes to install the new program ?

No, though you should back up your library anyway. See this User Tip for a backup strategy.
You don't need to uninstall your current copy of iTunes to upgrade to a new build.

  • HT4914 if i got itunes match and i lost all my music on my computer

i'm now having to reload all my music back on my laptop after the hard drive died, if i get i tunes match would i be able to download all my music to my laptop if it happend again ?

No. The local files are neither moved or touched. They are simply "matched" or "uploaded." Any purchased tracks will be marked "purchased."
Also, unless you delete tracks from the local iTunes library when you play it the local file will always be played. iTunes Match does not stream by default in iTunes.

  • I share a mac computer with my wife. We both have our own log in. We got her iTunes match and it works fine. I log into my side and got iTunes match and its not working. HELP me

I got imatch for her and it works fine. When I got imatch it does not work. is that because imatch wont allow the two accounts to come from one computer? if thats the case how do i get my money reimburesed?

At this time iTunes Match cannot be used in more than one User Account in OS X. iTunes Match is associated to one Apple ID per computer MAC address.
To request a refund you'll need to contact iTunes Store support directly.

  • Got iTunes match, synced up music from laptop to phone, headed out listening to playlist, all of a sudden, mid-song, music stopped and all music was gone and needed to be re-downloaded

Ok, so I initially bought the cloud mainly in the hopes that I could store all of my music on it and have access to it on my phone, which ended up not being the case. Fine. So I man up and get iTunes match, sync everything up between my laptop and my phone, make a playlist and head out listening to it. All of a sudden while I'm out, mid-song, the music stops. I go to see what's going on and everything is gone and has the icon to download next to it, and now I'm away from my wifi to boot, so charges apply. I don't understand. Now I have iCloud on my phone with 25 GB Total Storage and 25 GB Available because I don't understand what I should be using it for and iTunes match which, what, only works when I'm within spitting distance of my laptop? I've tried to get everything sorted out, paying a fee each time, and hitting roadblocks every step of the way; and on top of it, my phone is constantly telling me it can't do this or that because I don't have enough storage?? I realize I'm a bit of a noob, but c'mon, it shouldn't be this complicated or difficult, should it?

If you have no network access (3G, Wi Fi) you cannot stream music from the cloud. Period. The way you stop the behavior is to enable 3G, or pre-download the tracks you think you will want to listen to.

  • Restore WinXP, will I lose my info if I reinstall itunes ?

I had to restore my Sony Notebook computer because of problems.
If I reinstalled itunes, will it copy all my info from the iphone to the itune program?? including contacts too ?
I dont want to dock the iphone until I know for sure I wont lose my contacts.
    Thanks.

Did you include your iTunes library with your computer's backup along with all other important data before restoring your computer?
In regards to iTunes content, an iPhone can be synced with an iTunes library on a single computer only. When syncing iTunes content with a different computer, all iTunes content on your iPhone that was transferred to your iPhone from another computer will be erased first. The same applies to photos transferred to your iPhone via the iTunes sync process. Your iPhone will detect your computer as a new or different computer since you restored it - even if you included your iTunes library with your computer's backup and restore your iTunes library from your backup after restoring your computer.
Contact info is designed to be synced with a supported address book application on your computer. With XP, this can be with Outlook 2003 or 2007 along with syncing calendar events, or with the address book used by Outlook Express.
When syncing iTunes content with a new or different computer, contact info on your iPhone will not be erased or touched, unless you are syncing contact info with a supported address book application on your computer.
If you are syncing contact info and calendar events with Outlook 2003 or 2007 and you didn't include your Outlook data with your computer's backup before restoring your computer - your Outlook address book and calendar is empty, before syncing this data with Outlook, enter one contact in the address book and one calendar event in Outlook. Make these up if needed, which can be deleted later. This will provide a merge prompt when syncing this data, which you want to select. The same applies to the address book used by Outlook Express before syncing contact info with the address book used by OE.
If you didn't include your iTunes library with your computer's backup before restoring your computer, iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content from an iPod or iPhone that was purchased from the iTunes store, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased from the iTunes store only. First you need to re-authorize your computer with your iTunes account with iTunes. With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
iTunes includes a preference setting to disable automatic syncing when any iPod or iPhone is connected. Go to iTunes preferences. Under the devices tab, select disable automatic syncing for iPhones and iPods before connecting your iPhone.

  • HT204053 Got iTunes Match on Mac, diff ID on iPad: how to sync?

I have one Apple ID through a yahoo account on my older Mac. I forgot and set my new iPad up with a gmail account and of course different password.
I just purchased iTunes Match on my Mac and it successfully loaded all my iTunes to cloud. But now my iPad says I'm not subscribed to ITunes match, because I have two different accounts. Can this be fixed so I can get what I paid for? (all my iTunes available on my iPad).   Thank you!  (P.S. When I click on the "Product" menu below it says that both my Mac and my iPad are registered to my gmail account. ???)

  • Will I lose my music if I uninstall?

I ran update to 12.1 but I get error messages, ran the repair didn't help.If I uninstall will I lose my music.

If you uninstall iTunes you music should still stay on your computer as an iTunes folder in Music.
So if you uninstall iTunes and then install it again your music will not be deleted

  • HT204406 iTunes match songs will not play on any device.. please help me..

    Hey,
just got iTunes match, set it up to the best of my knowledge.
    -Bought it
-Matched and uploaded all of my music
-the 'iTunes match' tab isn't under 'Store' anymore
-music icons show up on iPhone 4 and New iPad
The thing is, when I select a song the song opens, album art and all stays on 0:00 then closes again as if it has finished playing.
I tried deleting a song in itunes then download it from iCloud but an error occurs. I deleted completely then added it to the library to see if i could get it to work.. Not working.
Music from iCloud will not play on any of my Apple things including iTunes.. Can someone from Apple or a smart person from the community please help me out.
If someone works at the Apple store in 'Chermside, Brisbane Australia' and wants to meet me to see if they can help that way I can do that too..
    Thank you!

    Same here...

  • If I subscribe to iTunes Match and later don't renew, will that impact the songs I've stored on my PC or phone or only the central storage in iCloud?

If I subscribe to iTunes Match and later don't renew, will that impact my access to music I have stored on my devices or will it only end my access to the central storage in iCloud?  Thank you!

It won't delete anything in your iTunes library on your computer but you would lose access to anything in your iTunes Match library that isn't stored in your iTunes library on your computer.  You would obviously need to sync your music to your phone from your computer using iTunes again.
