Will i need to have streaming server

Hello and happy saturday,
I have not used robohelp before, and thought I would download
the trial. but
just a quick question.
when I create a robohelp application, do I need to put it on
a streaming
server, I am confused as to what to do when I have all
created as, I wouldnt
want my user to get to my page and then have to wait ages for
it to open. I
was going to use captive to capture me doing some things with
somftware and
create a small tutorial, I want to use that with robohelp.
should I or will i need to have my application on a streaming
server, if so
can any one recomend some where that i can page a few dollars
a month that
is ok.

Do we need to have Robo Server to enable commenting?

I am sorting out the requirements re RoboAIR help. If we wish to have folks inside our firewall be able to enter comments, do we need to have RoboHelp server inplace? The help systems I am converting to Robo assist call center CSRs. A VP is looking for feedback and comments from those CSRs to help improve the quality of the help system. Commenting is only available with locally installed AIR help, not the browser based version.
I believer there is a thread that covers setting up commenting with locally installed AIR help.

Do I need to have SQL server and VSS writer installed on my Laptop?

I am a home user and I just want to know if it is necessary for me to have these installed om my computer? What do they do? I have the services disabled as of now. Should I re-enable them? Is there any benefit from them? Thanks-George

no, you don't need them unless you are developing database-driven websites. each are services related to hosting databases locally.

Create a Flash-DVD with videos on a streaming server

Hello
As I am new to this forum, I hope I found the best place for my question. I have rented a few GB's on a streaming server, becouse I plan to open a little website with dancing videos on it. I have Adobe premiere pro cs4 to cut my video and encore to build a dvd. Since the dvd menu is quite practical I would like to use encore to place exactly the same project on my servers. This is how far as i got: I changed the script file so that my flash files got uploaded to my streaming server. I loaded the index.html, flashdvd.swf and AuthoredContent.xml onto my webserver, but nothing works..... I know that my streamingserver uses Wowza software... could this be the problem? Do I need a Adobe Streaming Server???

A PNG sequence can be used if you will go through the Flash authoring app itself to add interactivity, for example. If not, or in either case, you can create a FLV (Flash video) file with alpha. This can be used directly with the Flash player on the web.
Just pull the key with Keylight, and when it's done, Add the Comp to the Render Queue, set the Output Module's channels to RGB+Alpha and then pick Flash Video (FLV) as format, with one of the Flash 8 presets. The preset will instruct you in the comment field to adjust the stretch settings in the Output Module to the size specified by the preset.

Well as you can tell this isn't very active especially when your asking a question in a cross platform trouble shooting forum.
You don't say what computer you have so no one can even guess, you should put the model/year of the computer your on and the Mac OS version your using into your profile so we can help you better. (Example, 2010 MacPro, OS10.6 and Windows 7.)
Try here and pick your computer to get more help. Click on the Communities link and then the Discussions link and you should find a post that has already asked your question or you can search and you should find a bunch also.
From what I understand your Mac needs to support dual monitors and you need to have 2 video ports available and just get an adapter if needed for the connection between the computer and the monitor.

You should deactivate your CS5 suite before wiping anything so that you have your activation available. This is usually done by opening one of the applications and choosing Help -> Deactivate.
You will need your serial number. If you own the disc then it should be located on the disc cover. If you registered the software then it should be available thru your Adobe account online. If neither of these work out, then you would have to contact Adobe support directly and provide sufficient evidence that you own the application to see if they will provide you with the serial number.
If you purchased an upgrade version of CS5 you will also need to have the name and serial number for the qualifying older version that you upgraded from.

Disconnecting clients from Streaming Server

We have Streaming Server installed to stream online-seminars to the clients. We want to manually disconnect some clients during the translation while leaving others online. What is the way to do it? Clients connect to server by opening a web-page on the other web-server with embedded flash player which has the source streamer uri rtmp://our_server/live.

Разреши задать тебе пару вопросов.
1. Такой плеер, способный общаться с php-сервером, можно написать на Flex в свободном IDE или же требуется Flash Professional? Насколько я знаю, во Flash уже есть готовый компонент FLVPlayBack, можно ли без него обойтись во Flex?
2. С помощью Loadvars можно также посылать серверу информацию о запуске проигрывателя для пополнения счетчика просмотров или есть более простой способ внедрить такой посыльщик запроса в обычный swf, содержащий видео?

How much RAM will I need?

Considering buying a Macbook Pro, but I wanted to ask around and find out approximatly how much RAM I would need so that I dont get a model thats too powerful or too weak for my usage. I was considering 4 Gbs but im not sure if thats enough.
What im mainly planning to do on the Macbook is:
internet browsing (chrome, safari etc)
Mail app
Word processing software like Microsoft word
Eclipse (java programming)
skype
utorrent
Say I have all these programs running at the same time, how much RAM will I need to have?

Oh also, I just remembered wanting to ask this, have you ever tried downloading an OS update for a macbook and apple wont let you because you have outdated technology? Like trying to download ios 7 on an iphone 3G for example.
I've had that exact problem - someone gave me what was, supposedly, an iPhone 4s but turned out to be a 3Gs. Couldn't update to iOS 7.x so it just sits on my desk right now.
And when I had my MacBook Pro (1,1 2006 model) I couldn't upgrade to Lion - was 'stuck with' Snow Leopard.
O'd technology that no longer plays nice with new OS's? Time to get a new machine.

The vast majority of zone 2's on home theatre systems don't support digital audio.

Help needed with streaming server

hello. i work with a firm that provides hosting. one of our
clients has asked if it was possible to use a streaming server from
flash. now, to try it out, i've downloaded the trial version for
the flash media server 2. i've read through the documentation, but
i still cannot make it do what i want. as an example, i've
downloaded the 'dynamic playlist' example. i've set it up
completely as it's said on the site tutorial, yet i cannot connect
with the server. before you ask, yes, the server is running and the
application is loaded. the only thing i've really changed in the
example is the url of the server inside the xml file. when i test
the flash in flash pro 8, i get the message
NetConnection.Connect.Failed, no matter what address i use, be it
localhost, the internal ip address of the firm, or the external ip
address for access via the net. admitted, i'm not the most
knowledgable person on flash, but i still need to get that server
running.
obviously, my boss wants that server up and running as soon
as possible. can someone help me to set it up so i can make a
connection with the server?

2. Create a subdirectory in tutorial called "streams"
3. Create a subdirectoy in streams called "video" (or use
_definst_)
4. Create a flv file using Flash Video and save it in your
"video" directory.
The server structure should look like this:

Now you can play the stream from within your flash
application.
The quickest application is created like this:
1. Create a video instance (right click in "Library" and
select "new video", name it "video" and make sure it's action
script controlled. Then pull it onto the stage and make sure you
give the instance a name, e.g. "myVideo")
2. Now you need 5 lines of code.

My iMac will not connect to Photo Stream, but all my other devices will. i have all updates.

My brand new, 2.7 GHz intel Core i5 will not connect to Photo stream, no matter what I do.
I try to enable it from Icloud Preferences.
I try to turn it on from Iphoto preferences.
I try to turn it on from the iphoto app, but no luck.
When I try to add an account, it doesnt have the icloud option. Only Mobileme.
It says I'm signed in.

Photo Stream will only work over wifi, documents & data has an option to allow syncing over 3G in addition to wifi, all other services will work over 3G.

Help needed regarding some open source and good media streaming server

I am searching for some open source and java based media streaming server which can facilitate live video streaming. Can anyone please suggest me some good streaming server.

Some observations:
(1) The use of the Configuration.createRootApplicationModule() API is recommended only for console programs, not web applications, but it should work ok as long as your use of the appliation module is completely stateless (which from the code it looks like it is since you release the AM back to the pool on each request.)
(2) You mention "Stateful" mode, but Configuration.createRootApplicationModule() only supports stateless mode, so you are effectively using Stateless mode.
(3) You are passing true as the 2nd argument to Configuration.releaseRootApplicationModule() which means you are asking to immediately remove the application module instance from the pool. This will hurt the scalability of your application since each request will need to be served by creating a brand new instance of the application module.
(4) You are explicitly calling disconnect(). This is not necessary.
I would recommend:
(1) Changing your 2nd argument to releaseRootApplicationModule() to false
(2) Remove the explicit call to disconnect()
(3) Given your usage pattern, I'd recommend calling viewobject.setForwardOnly(true) before calling viewobject.executeQuery() and iterating over the results. This will avoid any caching of the fetched view object results. Also ensure you've read section "27.2 Tuning Your View Objects for Best Performance" of the ADF Developer's Guide for Forms/4GL Developers guide on the ADF Learning Center at http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/adf/learnadf.html for more performance tips
For example, if you are fetching 65 rows, make sure the fetch size of this view object is at least 66 so you can retried all the rows in one DB roundtrip.
