Will Icloud copy exsisting music to new Mac from old pc?

Have recently purchased a new Mac and am wondering if this icloud will transfer all my exsisting music from my laptop to the new puter?
Or should I do it the old fashioned way- ?
Thanks

Welcome to the Apple Community.
iTunes Match (subscription required), would do that, but why bother, it would be significantly quicker to do it 'The old fashioned way'.

  • How do i download all my music onto new mac from icloud match?

I have over 7000 songs I would like to transfer from my old laptop to my new one (macbook to macbook).  I opened itunes match and they showed up with the download cloud next to each song.
    1) when i click on the cloud nothing happens
    2) once I do get the songs to download how do I just download all so i dont have to click on 7000 cloads?
    Thank You for your support

I ended up purchasing a firewire plug and restarted my old computer holding down "T" and it came up as a hard drive on my new computer
from there i just clicked and dragged my itunes music folder onto the new itunes icon and 7000 songs transferred in about 20 minutes!
i then just dragged over my favorite apps as well and everything went smoothly.
    Thanks for all your help

  • Getting iPhone to sync with new mac (from old PC) and add device to iTunes

I recently brought a macbook pro 8.1.  I was able to transfer my itunes library using the imatch, however I have not been able to add my iphone into my itunes in able to sync.  I still have to connect with my old PC in order to sync my music (that was imported by CD's).  I have searched through the support options from apple support, but there's only information on how to add a NEW device to the itunes library.  When I have tried sync'ing my phone with my new mac itunes, there's a message that pops up stating I cannot sync 1 device with 2 computer itunes libraries.  What I'm getting at...is there anyway I can move my device from my old PC itunes to my new mac itunes before my PC dies??  HELP!

I believe we're having the same issue. I posted a question yesterday and I've gotten some helpful answers. I will stay posted to your thread as well to see if your issue is resolved. Sorry that I couldn't be of any help. :-)

  • Issue with Migration to New Mac from Old Mac

I deactivated photoshop CS3 on my old mac, and I'm trying to get it over to my new mac via firewire but I'm getting this error message:  Licensing for this product has stopped working. You cannot use this product at this time. You must repair the problem by uninstalling and the reinstalling this product or contacting your IT administrator or Adobe customer support for help. What can I do?

Any Adobe Product must—beside deactivation and uninstalling from your old computer—be installed with the original Adobe installer and the appropriate serial number.
Never use the program migration tools of Mac OS to migrate any Adobe software, it will not work.
I suspect that CS3 is compatible with your computer, you will have to update to a current version of your program.

  • Iphoto albums to new mac from old

I have already moved my entire iphoto library to my new macpro from my old ibook. but for some reason none of the albums came with it. Is there a way to get the albums over to the new after I have already moved the library?
    Thanks

How did you do the move? The correct way is to copy the entire iPhoto Library folder, as an entity, to the new computer. When iPhoto opens the library it should be in exactly the same condition as before you moved it. If you didn't do it this way and you still have the library on the ibook then I suggest you start over.
Was the ibook library also running iPhoto 6? If so, you could try copying the database file "Library6.iPhoto" from the old library into the new library on the macpro, allowing it to overwrite the existing file there. This will only work if the library structure is identical to the old library.
If the iPhoto library on the ibook was having problems before you copied it, then it's possible the database was already damaged. This would explain why it didn't copy over properly, even if you followed correct procedure. If that is the case, rebuild the library on the ibook. [Hold Option and Command as you launch iPhoto. Select the first 3 options in the dialog, then rebuild.] If the rebuild is successful and the library is in good shape, then copy the entire iPhoto Library folder to the macpro again.
    Regards.

  • Transferring music to new PC from old split-hard drive PC

    Hi hope someone can help,
I currently have a very old PC which I use to manage music and itunes etc. The hard drive is partitioned into 2 halves (C and D drives). Now I have some music on the C drive and others on the D drive. All music goes into iTunes and organised into playlists. I've now got a new laptop and want to transfer the music onto it but it is one drive (C drive).
My question is how can I transfer all the music from my old PC onto the new laptop while also keeping the playlists intact when I move the playlist file to the new laptop?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks- John

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
There are different ways to transfer your data from another Mac, but as you just want to transfer pictures and music, the best way is to use an external drive. You can also connect them with a Thunderbolt or FireWire cable, but you need specific Macs to do it, so I prefer the external drive method.
You just have to get an external drive and plug it to the old Mac. Then, open Finder, navigate to the folders with your pictures and music, and drag them to the external drive in the Finder sidebar, under "Devices".
Then, connect the external drive to the new Mac and you will see the external drive in the Finder sidebar after opening a Finder window, so choose it. Then, just copy the pictures and music to the folder you want, for example, Music or Pictures

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
The music is stored on the iTunes library. This library isn't deleted when you uninstall or reinstall iTunes, so you will keep everything. Anyway, it's better to make a backup of the library. Apart from that, you can download the purchased music as many times as you want

I am trying to follow the instrucitons for moving my iTunes account to a new Mac from a PC.  I wish to use the External Hardrive Method,  (also I have too much info to fit into the free iCloud space) ... and I am wondering how to handle several iTunes accounts for my son and daughter.  We all share the itunes media folder, but I use the control-click option to open either mine, my sons, or my dauthers account.
I.e.  On the old windows PC I have itunes, Richard's itunes, Justin's itunes, and Rachael's iTunes folders.  The instructions speak of the simple itunes folder ... so, do I copy all of these folders to the external hard drive and will things operate as before?

Yes, you copy each one's iTunes folder to the /Home/Music/ folder in each of their separate user accounts. You will first need to create a separate user account for each of them using the Users & Groups preferences.

  • Putting music onto new computer after old one crashed

i put my itunes onto my old computer, which crashed recently. now i have a new laptop and i need all my old music thats currently on my ipod, onto my laptop. how can i do this?

Apple doesn't support the transferring of music from your iPod to your iTunes. Only iTunes to iPod. So to do this you will need to download a third party program that will help copy your music from your iPod back to your computer, or there are a couple manual methods you can check out.

If you iPod is set to automatically update and you plug it into iTunes, a message will pop up telling you that your iPod is linked to another library. It will ask if you want to sync and replace all your music. Make sure you hit NO. If you sync with an empty library, then your iPod will also end up empty, because when it syncs it makes an exact copy of your library.

  • Transfer iTunes to new Mac from Time Machine, then sync with iPhone

    Hi everyone,
I just sold my old Macbook (everything was backed up with Time Machine) and bought a new Macbook Pro. Now I want to copy the iTunes library back. The problem is, even if I copy all the music, video, apps, iTunes U... from Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/... to the new Macbook, iTunes still thinks (rightfully) that it is a new machine. So if I plug my iPhone to it and try to sync, it will ask to *remove all my apps*, music, contacts... and resync again. That would probably *remove every user data* I have in those apps.
    Do you have any solution?

By any chance do you still have the old computer? If you do then copy /Home/Music/iTunes/ folder on the old computer to an external drive then transfer it to the new computer.
If you don't have the old computer then you have a little bit of a problem. Did you use Setup Assistant or Migration Assistant to transfer your files from the TM backup? Is the username (account short name) on the new computer the same as on the old computer? I'm guessing "no" because you are getting the permissions errors.
