Will iCloud enable to Stream my music on Apple TV ?

I am using a first generation Apple TV  as a standalone music source for my music and movies that I bought on iTunes, syncing content with my PC when needed. But most of the time with no PC. It is plugged via HDMI to my home theatre and easier used by my children.
But it doesn't evolve anymore... and I would like to benefit of the latest features of ATV2.
But ATV2 seems not to be able to read my files if not connected to PC or Mac, not even with a time capsule...
The only option is that it would be able to stream my files from iCloud. But I can't find any info about ATV in Apple's iCloud announcement.
Does anybody know ?

>can't find any info about ATV in Apple's iCloud announcement.
Seriously? It is front and center on their website....look for the giant iCloud logo.
iCloud is for sharing & syncing devices, etc. - they do the playing, typically via AirPlay. Get yourself an ATV2

    Yes.
You need to,turn on Home Sharing in iTunes on the computer. The computer and the iPad will need to be on the same wireless network. You will also need to make sure the same AppleID accosiared with your iTunes is also added to the Music app in Settings.

  • Iphoto will not enable photo stream

My iPhoto will not enable Photo Stream.  All software is up to date and I have the latest version of iPhoto, in fact Photo Stream was working last week on my Mac.  Now all I get is the msg "iPhoto cannot enable Photo Stream".  Any thoughts ??

Hey dave2468, as you can tell by my original post, this problem surfaced several months ago and out of frustration for lack of an answer to the problem - I called Apple for support.  I was fully prepared to spend the $50 bucks to resolve this issue but fortunately didn't have to.  My problem did get resolved after about 1 &1/2 hours on the phone and the solution revolved around resetting my password for my account...can't tell you why other than ghost in the machine issue.  Yours may be different issue but wanted to let you know how this ultimately got resolved.  I have had no further issues relative to this problem since my phone consultation.  Best of luck - I know how frustrating these things can be. • Will iCloud enable new iTunes purchases to be automatically downloaded to multiple iTunes libraries under different logins on the SAME iMac?

So I have a customer with one iMac and a user login on that iMac for each member of the family.  Under each user login, iTunes is configured with the same Apple ID so any purchases are made on the one account.  What they want is that no matter who purchases iTunes content from the iTunes Store, it appears in ALL their iTunes libraries.  If I configure iCloud with the SAME Apple ID under each login, and tick the 3 "Automatically Download New Purchases" boxes in iTunes under each login, then will new purchases be automatically downloaded to every library when the library owner logs in?  Or does iCloud only enable this functionlity based on a hardware ID, ie it will only work once per machine rather than once per user login?
There must be a simple yes/no answer to this, but it's a fair bit of work to set up a test rig so I'm hoping somebody already knows!
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello campin,
Congrats on your now MacBook Pro and welcome to the Apple family!
So, I'm just going to address each question directly.
    1) Short answer: yes. The article "iTunes 11 for Mac: Download previous purchases from the iTunes Store" goes over the process of downloading all of your previously purchased content.
    2) When you plug in your device you should see that iTune will allow you to configure the syncing options for each type of content. See "iOS: How to transfer or sync content to your computer" for more info.
    3) Automatic downloads is something that you can disable, but is enabled by default. This is also something that be different for Music and Apps. See "iTunes Store: How to enable Automatic Downloads"
It's a lot of information, but that should help you out and enjoy your new MacBook Pro!

  • Will iOS 5 still stream iTunes music through a 'Shared' music

After upgrading to iOS 5, I haven't been able to find how to stream music from my Macbook to my iPhone 4 over wi-fi. I know in iOS 4 the option was in the iPod app, under 'Shared.' Can anybody help me find that in iOS 5? Thank

Everything that's known (or can be discussed) about iOS 5 is on the Apple web pages. If you don't see it there, you won't find out about it here. You'll have to wait until Wednesday when it's released.

  • Cannot stream iPhone music to Apple TV2

I have an Apple TV2 and I cannot stream music to it from my iPhone 3GS via the iPod app. The ATV icon appears in the iPod app but nothing streams. The music plays again when reselecting the iPhone audio output. Movies from the iPod app work fine however with good video and audio streaming when streamed to ATV.
The ATV works fine with all other functions from my laptop and MacMini.

    Fixed it!!
Just unplugged the ATV2 and rebooted it.

  • ICloud My Photo Stream Folder empty on Vista PC, uploads working fine

    Tried everything.
Pictures I place in the Vista "Uploads" folder appear on the iPad 2 Photo Stream folder via iCloud but when I take a picture
on the iPad 2 they never appear in the corresponding Vista "My Photo Stream" folder.
Noticed after installing the Vista applet on the PC only the "Uploads" folder was created automatically, had to create the "My Photo Stream"
folder manually. Again tried everything multiple times, logging out...re-starting....

  • My Photo Stream on iPad and Apple TV

I have 84 photos in My Photo Stream on my iMac and was previously able to get all of them in my screensaver on Apple TV.  After a recent upgrade I can only get 3 pictures on Apple TV.  On my iPad there are 18 pictures.  How can all of the pictures be synced to all of my devices?

    Hi Felicia G,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The information below will explain how Photo Stream works.
Another way to organize photos is to make sure they are automatically added to your computer and use Home Sharing to see them on your Apple TV.
    iCloud: My Photo Stream FAQ
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4486
How many photos are stored in My Photo Stream on my devices and computers?
Your iOS devices keep a rolling collection of your last 1000 photos in the My Photo Stream album. From there, you can browse your recent photos or move the ones you like to your Camera Roll or another album to keep them on your device forever.
Because your Mac and PC have more storage than your iOS devices, you can choose to have all of your My Photo Stream photos automatically downloaded. In iPhoto or Aperture preferences on your Mac, select Photos (or Photo Stream) > My Photo Stream > Automatic Import. All of your photo stream photos will be imported into your Events, Projects, Photos, Faces, and Places folders in iPhoto or Aperture.
What happens to my photos if I turn off My Photo Stream?
If you sign out of iCloud or turn off My Photo Stream on an iOS device, all the images in My Photo Stream are removed from that device. The images in My Photo Stream on your other devices are not affected. Images added to My Photo Stream are saved on the iCloud server for 30 days from the date you added them to My Photo Stream. If you sign in to iCloud with the same Apple ID and turn on My Photo Stream on another device, those photos will automatically download to this device. Before turning off My Photo Stream, it's a good idea to save any photos that you'd like to keep to your Camera Roll. Learn more about saving your photos to your Camera Roll.
How do I view My Photo Stream?
Apple TV: After signing in with your iCloud account, you can view your photos by choosing iCloud Photos or Photo Stream from the main menu (or selecting Internet > Photo Stream in Apple TV Software Update 5.0).
iTunes 11 for Mac: Play items in your iTunes library using Apple TV (2nd generation or later)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12153?viewlocale=en_US
With Apple TV (2nd generation or later), you can stream content to your home theater system from your iTunes library, and the iTunes libraries of all the computers in your Home Sharing network. You can also stream digital photos stored on your computer.
Stream photos from your computer to Apple TV
Once Home Sharing is set up on your computer and on Apple TV, you can use iTunes to stream photos to your home theater system.
In iTunes, choose File > Home Sharing > Choose Photos to Share with Apple TV.
In the window that appears, select Share Photos From, and choose a source from the pop-up menu.
Choose “All photos, albums, events, and faces” or “Selected albums, events, and faces.”If you chose “Selected albums, events, and faces,” select the albums, events, and faces you want to stream.
    Click Apply.
    Hope this information helps ....

  • Store itunes music on apple tv

How do I store my iTunes library on Apple TV 1st generation? I am using iTunes Match. I know I can stream my music to Apple TV, but I have distributed audio system in my house and want to access my music library by storing it on Apple TV (using it as a NAS) and then playing it through the system

ATV3 lets me only buy/rent movies or shows. Is this really true?
Also, no volume control on the remote. What a joke!
That's correct, no option to purchase music.
How many other devices have the ability to turn the volume up/down from the DVD player, set top-box etc.

  • Will iCloud stream my music to my AppleTV2?

I'm really excited about iCloud, iMatch, etc. One of the things I'm trying to get straight about the service is whether it's truly streaming my content or is it only syncing content between devices. As in, will iCloud dump all my mp3s to the hard drive of each device or will it stream them on demand?
Specifically, I am hoping it is a streaming service because I want to play my music on my Apple TV 2 without having any other computers on in the house. I also want to be able to use my iPhone without interruption (Airplay gets cut when a call comes in). It would be great if my AppleTV would be a standalone receiving unit for streaming audio content from my iCloud library.
Anyone have the details on this? I've searched the Apple Discussions, but too much noise about other iCloud issues.
    Seth

There aren't enough details about the iCloud service to answer your questions at this time.

  • If I put my music onto iCloud can I delete the files from my iPhone and stream the music?

And if I do, will the quality be as good?

The answer is yes and no. If you are using the free iCloud services then the answer is no, it only serves as a backup for you phone, iPod, etc. However, if you use iTunes Match which costs 20 some dollars a year (I believe) you can stream your music from the cloud as well as videos. How that works? I do not know, I just knot that's one if the features with iTunes Match.

  • ICloud on my PC will not enable

I have redownloaded it, I have tried everything, I had an iPhone 4s and today(3-4-14) I got an iPhone 5s, they couldnt transfer my pictures so i shared them through iCloud. NOW I can not get iCloud to work. please help me get them back!!! i really would like some of them.

Did you sign into your iCloud account on your 5s and enable photo stream in Settings>iCloud>Photos?  If so, you should be able to access them in your my photo stream album inside the Photos app on your phone.  Restoring the backup of your 4s to your 5s would also transfer photos that were in the camera roll, along with text messages, app data, settings, purchased apps and other media, etc.
Getting photo stream to work on a PC can sometimes be problematic.  There is a long discussion on this here with various solutions offered: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5356710?start=180&tstart=0.  Perhaps you will find one that will work for you.  In the meantime, if you can get them on your Phone, you can then save them to your camera roll and import them to your computer as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.

  • I have an external server that stores all my movies and music, is there a way to stream it to my apple tv? If not is there a way I can link the folders to itunes (without downloading files to computer) and will that make them view-able for the apple TV?

I have an external server that stores all my movies and music, is there a way to stream it to my apple tv?
If not is there a way I can link the folders to itunes (without downloading files to computer) that will make them view-able for the apple TV?
If none of that works is there a way to get it working alternativly?
    Additional Information:
Everything is linked via ethernet cable.
I'm using a PC to set it up.
If you have any other questions feel free to ask and I'll help where I can.
    Thank you for any help

(I think the daughter got he better end of the deal!)   I believe if you change the password and user id one of the devices it will stop that from occurring. But I'm not the one to tell you how to do it; someone like "Illaass" (Illaass seems to know how to correct / fix almost anything!) will know how if you don't. Just look for the "cat" icon.

  • I have an early apple tv. Will it support netflix streaming? Also what is the size of the newest apple tv's hard drive? And, will my current apple tv be able to use the icloud services?

I have an early apple tv. Will it support netflix streaming? Netflix does not show on the internet tab on the AppleTV display.
Will my current appletv connect to icloud services, synch, etc.?
Also, what is the size of the current appleTV's hard drive?

    1. No to NetFlix and ATV1
    2. If you mean your ATV1, no.
    3. If you mean your ATV1, there are more than one hard drive size.  If you mean the new ATV2, it doesn't have a hard drive.
