Will iDVD be able to recognise the chapter markers created from Final Cut ProX Ver 1.1 ?

It has been quite a while since I use iDVD from Final Cut Express 4 days. So, please excuse my ignorance.
Can I know whether iDVD will be able to recognise the chapter markers I created from Final Cut ProX Ver 1.1 ?
That is to say, if I share/export a file from FCPX and tick the "include chapter markers" box ...

And i remember reading some where that iDVD cannot recognise the markers generated by the earlier version of FCPX. So I am not sure about the Ver 10.1
So I was thinking, if Ver 10.1 is still the same, I might as well no need to re-learn iDVD yet ... Hahaha

It seems the App Store doesn't offer iPhoto 9.0 for download. I presume purchasing iPhoto '11 (v.9.4.2) for $14.99 isn't going to work...because I know the most advanced version my system can handle is 9.2.3. I'm secretly hoping that if I go for the upgrade to 9.4.2, it'll take me as far as 9.2.3 and just leave me running that version. But, my hunch is the more likely scenario will be that the upgrade/installation will not be completed/fail.
Can you please just confirm that my hunch (as opposed to my "hope") is correct?

Fixing the corrupt file created when final cut crashes during a capture...

Hi, occasionally whilst I'm capturing from Digi Beta my G5 will crash on the end of the capture (the beach ball will just keep spinning until I have to force quit).
When I check the file I was capturing in my Capture Scratch it comes up as a huge file (usually around 700gb) with a '-av' added to the end of it's file name.
When I remove the -av, the file goes back to its original size but Quicktime player or Final Cut don't recognise it to open (though it does keep its Quicktime icon).
Usually I just delete this file and re-capture it but I'm just wondering if there's any way of fixing the file to save time?

IIRC, the file is incomplete, it's lacking the complete header information. Have you tried appending .mov to the file? Let us know how that works.

You want to go from FCE to FCP-X?
You would need to do so in multiple steps.
1) You would need to be working in a very late version of FCE.
2) Open the FCE project in FCP-7.
3) In FCP-7, export an XML of the sequence you wish to get to FCP-X.
4) Purchase the software 7toX

5) Import the XML into 7toX, export the FCP-X friendly file
6) Import the converted XML into FCP-X
7) Re-link all you media
It should be noted that when you use XML, not all the things you have done in your original sequence will make it through the final translation. There is more information about this at the 7toX page linked above.

Many thanks JEM24 for your help. Ive just spent the best part of six hundred pounds on a new Sony Rx100m2 compact camera, so I have no interest in the Ipods camera at all really. I doubt Ill be watching many videos on it as Im very lucky in that I have a good Android tablet. Its more as a stock music player that Ill be buying the Ipod for, if indeed I do end up buying one. I dont like the idea of paying the exorbitant amount added for more memory space that Apple along with most other companies charge. In fact I read an article on this very subject just yesterday in the tech section of Flipboard. It stated in the article that in the case of the Iphone the actual cost of each additional gigabyte of storage to Apple et al is something in the order of 60p.. This is certainly not reflected in the price us the customer has to pay at the till.. Its for this reason primarily that Apple in particular, because their products do not allow adding expandable memory of your own in the form of cheap to buy cards, that nobody in their right mind buys the 64gig etc Iphones..I am aware that we are discussing my potential purchase of an Ipod Touch here but you see my point. The title says it all. I use my parent's account for my iTunes on my laptop currently, and I would like to make my own Apple account. My question is if I will still be able to use the applications and games that I downloaded [purchased] while using this computer. All of the files for the apps are on this computer, I'm just not sure if I will be able to put them on my iPod [2G] once I make the account.

You can't delete an account, only iTunes Support can potentially do so, but you would lose all of the account's purchases if they do so - all downloads are tied to the account that downloaded them, they cannot be transferred to another account.
If you do create a new account then there are instructions on this page of how to do so without giving credit card details : Create an iTunes Store, App Store, or iBooks Store account without a credit card or other payment method.

System has begun crashing (dropping-windowshade, message to shut down computer) during attempted capture or render. Hardware has been checked out and is OK. Other OS functions seem to be working. I have a bootable clone from the most recent period of good function, and also my original install disc for FCE.
If I need to try reinstalling FCE, are the updates still available from Apple?
If I can't restore FCE 3.5, is there anything I can use with my OS 4.11 MBP that will be able to access my FCE 3.5 project files? My 3+TB of underwater clips, stored on external drives as QT movies?

Here is an article on how to Uninstall FCE HD You could also use FCS Remover (note there are different versions depending on what version of OS X you have - be sure to select the correct version)

Lightroom has no problem reading DNG files. Whether the edits you have done to the DNGs you have originally edited in Photoshop Elements 10 I'm not sure. ACR edits made to DNGs are saved in the DNG file itself, as apposed to a XMP sidecar file, so LR should see those edits. At the worst you will get an exclamation mark in the upper right hand corner of the imported DNGs and clicking on that exclamation mark you will get a dialog box asking you to either import settings from disk or overwrite settings. you would select import settings from disk.

Apple does not repair smashed phones. It will replace the phone with another iPhone 3G as an out of warranty exchange for 199.00 USD.
You should check with your carrier to see if you are eligible for a subsidized iPhone 4. It may cost you the same as the out of warranty replacement for a phone almost 3 generations old.

A. how to make a ringtone using iTunes
First, open up iTunes in order to make a ringtone using iTunes. Find the song you want to turn into a ringtone by browsing through your music library.
Next, find exactly what part of the song you want to make a ringtone using iTunes. For example, if you want to use a specific section of the song from 21 seconds to 40 seconds, make a note of where you want the ringtone to begin and end.
Now, right click on the song you want to turn into a ringtone. Click "Get Info". Now, in order to make a ringtone using iTunes, click the "Options" tab.
Check the "Start Time" check box. Type in the point in the song where you want the ringtone to start in the format "minute:seconds" (e.g. the second mark would be 0:20). You can also be more precise by adding a period and putting milliseconds in after that (e.g. 0:20.150, would be 20.150 seconds). Now, you have to find the file you just created. Right click on the new, shorter song and select "Open in Windows Explorer". The file extension should be .m4a. Rename the extension to .m4r by right clicking the file and selecting "Rename".
Now you can delete the shortened version of the song in your iTunes library. Then, double click the .m4r file and it will loaded into your iTunes Ringtone list. Now you can make a ringtone using iTunes!

And you can of course use the iPad itself for any function that does not require an Internet connection. You can only use a cell network if Verizon has CDMA partners in Hungary, which I believe they do not have.

AFAIK, this is beyond the capabilities of FCPX/Compressor. This company makes a plug-in, which I have to say I have no experience with. Here is a thread that may give you some other ideas. Good luck.
