Will Indesign 2.0 work on new Macs?

I'm considering buying a new Mac Mini and MacBook with the Intel Duo Core processor.
Will my Indesign 2.0 work with these new computers? Do I need to upgrade to CS4?

Great Bob, sorry to interfere, i am a complete newbee and i have a connected pb : I just installed for the first time (!) InDesign 2.0 (never used, from old "Design Collection" box bought years ago for PS 6, Illustrator 10, and Acrobat 5.0…) on an iMac Intel running with Os 10.4.11.
I upgraded it with patches to ID 2.0.2. It seems to open correctly.
I needed an unique use, opening and modifying a file created by our creative supplier (its our new advertising leaflet...).
They use Macs with Indesign CS4. I asked them if they could give us an ID 2.0 file : and OK, there is an "ID 2.0" on the left of the file icon I get.
But when I try to open it, ID starts but a message pop up asking for "module upgrading" or "recent version of Indesign".
Is there a solution to this pb ? Till a few minutes ago, I thought InDesign 2.0 and InDesign CS2 were the same, and that I could purchase an ID upgrade, in case ... Your answer to this post killed me.
So :
- are there module upgrades for this case ?
- could my supplier, with his ID CS4, produce a file compatible with our antique ? or export it to other files formats we could use and easily modify (PS, Illustrator…) ?
- or is my only choice being prisonner of my supplier for each modification of the document / or purchasing a complete new ID license ?

Yes (if the old external iSight works.)
Apple's long ago discontinued Firewire External iSights were great webcams, but they are old (as consumer electronics go) and some may have had pretty rough treatment. Even NOS (new old stock) items may have been damaged in storage or handling.
If you have access to an external iSight, you can test it using the suggestions from this page: http://www.ralphjohns.co.uk/EZJim/EZJimpage4.html. To reduce the possibility of conflicts for old Firewire iSights, I suggest you disconnect all other Firewire peripherals until you get your external iSight working with your mini. Then connect other needed items one at a time and test each to determine whether you can use any without conflict.
If you are considering buying an external iSight now, a new webcam (with warranty) may be a better choice. Many available alternatives are listed here: http://www.mac-compatible-web-cam.com/

You will need a Thunderbolt to FireWire Adapter. This adapter offers only a Firewire 800 connection.
The Firewire connection on old external iSights is a Firewire 400 connector. Therefore, you need some way to connect to the FW800 connector on your adapter:

if you have a non-Retina MacBook Pro, the following command could allow a USB SuperDrive to work with it.
Log in as an administrative user, open Terminal, run the following command within Terminal, close Terminal, and then restart your MacBook Pro:
sudo nvram boot-args="mbasd=1"
(When it asks you for a password, enter the administrative user’s password.)

You may be correct, but this statement is quite confusing in that context:
Important Note
When you install OS X Lion using the USB thumb drive, you will not be able to reinstall OS X Lion from Lion Recovery. You will need to use the USB thumb drive to reinstall OS X Lion.
So, if the Thumb drive is supposed to take the part of the Recovery partition, it seems that it should be able to boot. However, the license agreement still requires an Apple computer running Snow Leopard, so maybe it isn't bootable.

All true, however, FCS 2009 (aka FCS 3) does run with the current OSX (10.8.4) which is two full versions beyond the last supported one (10.6.8).
So, the real answer is, we'll have to wait and see how things play out.

Rear Audio Jack not Working on New Mac Pro

Hello All,
Here's the deal. I just pursuaded my company to buy a brand new Mac Pro to run FCP Studio 2 as a test run to see if they perform well enough to eventually replace our remaining PC's. We've had the Mac Pro for less then two weeks and I'm running into an issue that I can't resolve, and I don't want to fall on my face. The rear Audio input jack keeps failing. Meaning sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't when speakers are plugged into. The jack on the front works fine, but the rear jack doesn't appear to recognize the speakers after the computer is shut down then restarted. You have to restart the computer 2 or 3 times before the speakers start pumping out sound. Which in all honesty is extermely dissappointing to me. And if I have to bring this thing in to get serviced, my boss will not move forward with buying anymore Mac Pro's, which I'm working hard to make happen.

InDesign Crashes after loading to new MAC

I have just used Migration Assistant to put all my files and Applications from my old MAC to my new MAC. Seems like the only issue I have had is that InDesign wont open. It just immediately crashes when I go to open it. Photoshop opens fine.
Any ideas?

That is expected. Using the migration assistant doesn't properly reinstate the activation. you will have to reinstall.

Time Machine stopped working with new Mac address.

I have an IOMEGA 500, FireWire which I used to use for Time Machine. I now have a new Mac address and do not have access to the old Mac address. Is there any way that I can get the IOMEGA to start working with Time Machine? If so please give me step by steps instructions on how to make this external hard drive work again with Time Machine.

Do you have a new Mac, or a new logic board? Either will get you a new MAC (Media Access Control) address, which Time Machine interprets as a different Mac.

Ethernet adapter not working with new Mac Mini after NetRestore.

I'm currently working with an issue regarding Mini 4,1s and their difference from the main driver set in 10.6.4. I'm in an educational environment and attempting to effectively netrestore a hard drive image that was built on a Mini 3,1 with all possible updates made to the OS (10.6.4).
The new minis have no problem netbooting, and downloading the disc image from the server *over ethernet*. In fact, they do it in a very rapid fashion. The issue is that once the machines boot up, they no longer have ethernet capabilities. In fact, the ethernet device does not even appear in system profiler at all. After reading quite a lot about this problem, it appears that there is a difference in the driver set on the special "Mid-2010 Mini 4,1" update and the driver set found in a normal 10.6.4 install.
I have attempted various permutations of installing the Mid-2010 update, but most of them include having an existing 10.6.4 install that was not built on the Mini, and attempting to install the update over the install, or replacing the driver in suspect itself. The issue persists.
Is there something I'm missing, and is this a common problem?
tl;dr: non mac mini 10.6.4 installation copied on mac mini 4,1, and ethernet drivers don't work.

Thanks for your suggestion, I cloned my 1.83GHZ Mac Mini's main drive with Carbon Copy Cloner and restored it onto a new 2.4GHZ Mac Mini. Since the new Mac was replacing the older one's mother ship role in my HTPC setup, this method would ensure the easiest transition. Everything works fine, except that ethernet wont work, it did before, but doesn't now. I already tried several confirmed-working-by-me cables and no luck.
I tried your step and understand the logic behind them, but as soon as I replaced my files with the ones you suggested from my 2.4GHZ Mac Install Disc, the system reports some conflicts. I repaired permissions after and before this happens (tried twice, once after successfully restoring via Tim Machine) and still it occurred. After reboot Ethernet was still dead and so was WiFi. Luckily I was able to get everything back to normal by replacing the entire Extensions folder with the one prior to the changes. Restoring the two files alone would not do it.
Any other suggestions?

I have had a new mac for over a month now and I cannot get my Firefox menu or bookmarks onto the new Mac. I signed up for Firefox Sync. It didn't work either. I'm frustrated and disappointed. I have 100's of favorite bookmarks.

Which version of Firefox were you last using on the old Mac?
You would have had to have been using a Firefox 29 version or higher for that Firefox installation to be compatible with the current version of Sync.

Only PCIe cards with EFI type BIOS, so no. They will work in Windows just fine, just not in OS X.
The stock configuration is fine and probably ideal anyway with the Nvidia 7300 GT, though most would recommend Radeon X1900 XT

you might want to wait until Apple 'refreshes' the one year old Mac Pro line, either in the fall or wait until January MacWorld SF show. (eventually AMDs and Nvidia's latest offerings due later this year have a 99.999% chance of being adopted in some form).

usually any 3.5" form-factor SATA-connected harddisk works in a Mac Pro.
So I don't see any reason for this harddisk not to work.
