Will installing a new operating system make the warranty void

I just bought a HP G3 200 Series 250 Core i3 from Indian online store. The current operating system is free DOS and i want to install windows 8 on it. Will that make my warranty void ?

Hi: Doing that will not void the hardware warranty but HP will not offer any software support if you install another operating system. Bear in mind that there are no W8 64 bit drivers for that model, so I suggest you upgrade to W8.1 after you install W8 or install W7 64 bit.

I erased my HD and could not install lion. if I turn on the mac now all I see is a folder with a question-mark. How can I install a new operation system?

Install or Reinstall Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
      1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
      3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on
the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

Is it possible to add a new Operating System to the list of OS'es that's returned by the Get-SCOperatingSystem PowerShell cmdlet?
I have a few Linux distributions that will run fine under Hyper-V with the latest LIS improvements, but I would like to create a new entry for that said distributions as I would like it to display the correct name as the end-user is using Windows Azure Pack

  • HT201250 when restoring a time machine backup to a new computer, does it affect the new operating system on the new computer

when restoring a time machine backup to a new computer, does it affect the new operating system on the new computer?

That depends on how you do it.
By far the best, easiest, most reliable method is to use Setup Assistant when your shiny new Mac first starts up, to transfer your apps, users, data, etc.   That doesn't disturb either the OS or basic Apple apps that came with the new Mac.  See Using Setup Assistant on Mountain Lion or Lion.
There is a facility to restore an entire system from Time Machine backups, including the version of OSX on the backup, but that's for use when your internal HD has been erased or replaced only.  It's not a good idea to restore the full backup of one Mac to a different one.  Depending on the circumstances, the installer may not allow it.  Even if it does, the Mac may not start up, or may kernel panic, or not work properly.

  • I lost all my Bookmorks after installing a new operating system.

I have just obtained a new PC and installed Windows 7 Ultimate in 64 Bit. And as is usual for me DESPITE backing up etc the whole shebang blew up in my face! the back up failed and I had to re-install again! So question is I have the OLD operating system on the OLD HD so I can find things. So how do I find the old bookmarks etc. and move same to my NEW HD and so enjoy my old settings? Indeed is it possible to install AL of the old settings from the older copy of Firefox on my old drive? If so and it is a relatively easy thing to do please feel free to ridicule me but do at least offer to help? :-)
    Regards
    chris

No, that file won't help you.
Look for your Firefox Profile folder on the old HDD, and copy specific files from the old Profile folder and replace the new version of each file in the new Profile folder. This support article will explain it more completely. <br />

  • When we try to use apple tv there is no sound.  It was working fine for over a year.  Stopped working after we installed a new wifi system in the house - any suggestions?

It was working fine for over a year.  We installed a new wifi system - could that have anything to do with it?  It connects fine but will not play any sound?  Any suggestions

Thank you...I did try that and it did not work.  I've tried just about everything.  Today I tried hooking up to a different TV that does not have a receiver and it works fine.  I guess it has something to do with my receiver but I just can't figure it out.

The new operating system (IOS 7) changed the background color of the Photos App (Camera Roll) from black to white.  How do I change the color back to black?

    You can't. Sorry.

You can tell apple that you'd like it and see if they respond....eventually. (you don't get responses from your feedback mails but they have been known to issue changes that users have asked for, such as the ability to mass delete apps)

  • Can I install a new operating system using a USB optical drive?

My Mac is out of date, I'm still running 10.5.8 but have the Snow Leopard disk to update my operating system to 10.6.3. However, my built-in optical drive is broken so I use a USB powered optical drive. So, when I start the process of installing the new operating software, will the MAC direct itself to my USB drive to boot when necessary?

Thanks for the replies. Just to clarify, because I'm on 10.5.8 I have to upgrade to Snow Leopard using a dvd disk, which I have. I cannot upgrade to any other more recent operating system until I'm on Snow Leopard, so that's the first thing to do.
So, just to clarify further, I have a DVD drive that plugs into 2 USB ports that I use to burn and read DVDs, ever since the inbuilt DVD drive on my iMac started sticking disks inside.
So...I'm really looking for the best way to do this upgrade with what I have...I don't know whether the Mac will find the disk if it is on the plugged in portable DVD drive rather than the inbuilt DVD drive....
    Any advice greatly appreciated...

  • MY ITUNES SHUT AS IT WAS INSTALLING A NEW OPERATING SYSTEM

as i was installing the new IOS 4.3.10 on my iphone, my itunes randomly shut its self down and now my iphone is stuck with out an operating system WHAT DO I DO?

More likely the problem is that you are trying to install 4.3.10 on a CDMA phone (assuming your category is correct). The latest version for the CDMA phone is 4.2.8. Normally iTunes won't even let you start installing the wrong version, so you are probably doing it by an unauthorized method.

  • I phone 3G Will not Download New Operating System?

Is there any reason that the I-phone can download applications and music, but when it comes to the operating system for 4.0 it asks you to update but never gets beyond 10%? Have all the latest updates, checked for download abilities, plug in the phone, get the upgrade prompt and it will just sit for hour and never get beyond 10%. Is there a trick or is this just another download that doesn't work?
    Crazydave!

I'm glad there are more people with this problem actually. Because this gave me time to read up on it. I am VERY glad that it wouldn't install for me. My phone has been on the slow side lately anyway, I think i put too much music on it so now when flipping from one app to another, it takes way longer that ever it has. Likely this is a result of not having enough room to move stuff around. Cant wait for a phone with a big enough drive to have at least half of my music. 32 is just not enough.

  • My boyfriend purchased the new operating system for the mac book pro it was send to his email but we cant figure out how to get it and download it from the email

how do we download our operating system purchase from our email it was sent to?

You should have received a redemption code via email if you purchased Lion or Mountain Lion that would allow you to download the OS via the Mac App Store. If you purchased an earlier version it would come on discs, usually model-specific.

  • Upgrading Imac from 10.5.8 to Snow leopard, will I be able to bring back programs like photoshop from my old backup to the new operating system without the program disc, if so how?

So my imac has the older version 10.5.8 on it and in order to use some programs I need to upgrade to snow leopard. I made a full back up on my external harddrive already, now I need to repair the disc of the computer because it will not verify. So then that way I can clear it completely then, then install snow leopard. But I need to be able to bring back my programs like adobe photoshop, so will I be able to bring that back into snow leaopard with out a install disc? and if so how do i do that with out backing up the comp from my back up. So i can keep my memory down.. thanks for the help

The photoshop is elements 6, versions 6.0.  and the computer had only 2gb of ram but I just upgraded to the 4gb to see if thatd help it from freezing up all the time and maybe go a little faster.

  • HT4623 Updating to new operating system, but the update is hanging up on "rescue email" despite thef act that this is supposed to be optional.  The only option it seems to allow is that i furnish this email address, but then, once entered, i can't "next."

Updating to 7.02 and i have completed everything up to the rescue email address; however, the "next" option won't work and "back" simply deletes what i have added, but doesn't allow me to escape from the set up or move past what are supposed to be optional steps.  Any suggestions?
    Thank you.

The missing apps could have been done by setting the Restrictions that can hid those apps. If the backup was made with those retrictions set the the Restrictions are also restored.
Thus, if you get it to work restore to factory settings/new iPod, not from backup

  • I had to install a new operating system and now my music is gone from iTunes

My MacBook Pro crashed the other day and I had to reinstall Yosemite.  Now when I go to iTunes library most of my music is missing.  I have a lot of it on my iPhone but it won't transfer back to my computer.  How do I retrieve thousands of songs?

Use your Time Machine backup if you have one.
Your can also recover your iTunes Store Purchases from the iTunes Store in the "Purchased" Tab on the right.
You can't get your music from the iPhone to the Mac, unless you use 3rd party software.
