Will iOS 6.1 fix battery issues?

I just downloaded and installed iOS 6.1 but I'm wondering if there are more features that apple don't tell you!
Does anyone else know the other features? As I am pretty sure here are.

My Iphone 5 is not working as wonderfully previous to this 6.1 update. The battery is draining very fast using LTE and even Wifi or doing nothing by night with airplane mode. I also suspect that usage statistics doesn't work as before that it really showed my use. It is impossible that I have 17h 48 minutes of standby and 13h 30 minutes of usage in 19 hours!!! My battery is now at 1%. Previously to this update I was really at standby for more than 2 days... I want to recover my Iphone before this awful update!

It seems that people experience slow wifi on iphone with IOS 6 under slightly different circumstances.
Some have slow/choppy video streaming, some have problems with large dropbox files, some with app store and some with podcasts.
    Which is your problem AdeelRasheed?
Me personally, I have download speed when on wifi.
    But only when downloading podcasts...
    Running 6.0.1 or 6.1 on iPhone 5, iPhone 4 and iPad 2.
On WIFI I can download a 45 mb app from the appstore in less than a minute. I can stream Youtube and Netflix with no problems. Internet browsing - no problems.
But downloading podcasts with Instacast 3, Downcast or the Apple Podcast app happens at a rate of 20-80 kb/s when on WIFI. As soon as I switch to 3g ( 4g/LTE is not yet available from my local provider) my download speed goes to between 300kb/s and 2 mb/s.
    Anyone else have this problem?

  • Is there any software to fix battery issue of iphone 5? please let me know and how to do that.

software to fix battery issue of iphone 5??? please
    thank you

Depends on which issue you have. Apple is working on an update to address a calendar syncing problem with Exchange accounts. Do you have an Exchange account?

  • [Iphone 5] update to ios 6.0.1 - battery issue, fix please :(

I have already turned off Siri, Location Services, Notifications
After update to iOS 6.0.1, battery drain very quickly
    Something wrong with my phone?

My recommendation having tried all the obvious is send the iPhone 5 back  to Apple -  Wait for Apple to fix the problems and then buy a new iPhone 5.
I have been buying apple products for over 25 years, I never experienced such a fundamental problem.
Battery drain: 100% to 40% in 4 hours - 100% to 10% 12 hours overnight on standby - with wi-fi off (installed with the same Apps as the 4s with lasted 3-4 days in general use.)
Apple support are either very helpful, or totally dismissive... this morning I was offered "12 hours use is acceptable" as a final word from Apple Support.
The phone is on its way back to Apple, and I'm happily back on my 4s
This is the first and last time I break my purchasing rule when buying from Apple, 'never buy the first version of any Apple product - wait for them to get it right.

  • When will you fix battery issues on ios 5.1.1? I have the same settings but 85% less battery life!!!

I have read many tips about what to do for increasing battery life. However
I hav the same setting with ios 5.1.1 that I was using with the previous
version (ios 5.1) but with 85% less battery life time. It is so frustrating because this
issue come back every 2 update : one killing your battery and the second
to fix this, and it starts again... I am really sick of this.
I am using an iPhone 4.

Hi All – I have also experienced the battery drain issue on upgrade to 5.1.1.
Like many on the forum I have tried ALL suggestions to resolve this issue, none of them have resolved the problem that Apple owners seem to be experiencing, it’s not in our minds as some suggest. My iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS are working a treat under 5.1.1, in fact I believe the 3GS is running better than under 4.3.x.
However I do think I have tracked the problem down, which I will document here, but first a list of the things I’ve tried:
    - Fully discharge battery to <5% and then back to 100% and leave charging for 3 hours after
    - Turn off all notifications
    - Turn off all location services
    - Turn down brightness
    - Turn off ALL iCloud services (effectively delete the account)
    - Reconfigure email account to ‘MANUAL Fetch’ only
    - Factory restore to fresh 5.1.1 from within iTunes and then restore from back-up
The only thing that stops the battery discharging at around 5% every 8 hours is turning off Wi-Fi during standby mode. Prior to 5.1.1 the iPad would drain maybe 1% every 24 hours in standby mode with Wi-Fi on.
Puzzled by this I did some research to understand what the iPad is doing whilst in standby mode with Wi-Fi on, so below is a trace from the iPad system log so that hopefully someone can look at this , identify the issue and hopefully fix it in a future ios 5.1.x release:

These repeating messages appear approx every 30 seconds the wakeup packet contains the MAC addresses for my router and iPad, so one of them is misbehaving. This may be to do with how these have been implemented:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wake-on-LAN
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_Proxy_Service
Either way I believe this is the source of the power drain issue whilst in standby with Wi-Fi turned on, perhaps this could be a router issue and that is why the issue not hitting everyone post 5.1.1?
    All the best.

  • Tips to fix battery issue on iphone 4s after upgrading to iOS 6.0

ladies and gentlemen.....i think i found a simple solution but its the only way to fix the problem until apple decides to gives us a patch.
i have an iphone 4s and yesterday i did the upgrade to 6.0
this morning i noticed my battery was draining faster than normal then i decided to do this.
i did a full reset and when i set it up i did it as a new iphone without using any of the restore points.
before you do this you need to make sure your contacts and photos are stored in icloud.
once you are all done with the restore you need to do all the tips for battery life including turning off gps on stuff you dont need and how often data is pushed from the server.  one thing i like to do is every morning when i charge my phone is i clear the cache and browser history and close any open apps and then i shut down, wait a few minutes and turn back on
i work on the street nearly 11 hours daily and i listen to music, watch youtube videos, browse the web, use facebook and instagram and by the time i go home i still have 20% left in the battery

The issue is probably specific to your iPhone:
Something may have gone amiss in the upgrade to iOS 6.1.3 on your iPhone.
To correct this follow these steps:
Backup your iPhone using iTunes or iCloud.
Use iTunes to completely restore your iPhone as new.
Setup your iPhone and monitor battery usage to see if it is normal. If not, you may have a hardware problem - if so, contact Apple support.
Restore your iPhone from your backup above.
Check battery usage to confirm that it remains normal.

  • IOS 5.1.1 Battery issues Fixed?

Title, in iOS 5.1 there were still battery bugs, are they fixed in 5.1.1? Or are they worse?

For me, going to 5.1.1 made my battery worse. When I had 5.1, I could use my phone (iPhone 4) heavily during the day (voice, text, safari, apps, etc) and finish the day with 50-60% battery. I updated to 5.1.1 yesterday and can watch the drain happen.
For instance, this morning I took my phone off the charger (100%). After an hour off the charger with very light safari usage (over wifi) and a text conversation, my battery had depleted to 92%. It has been off the charger for 2.5hrs and I am currently at 80%. So I'm losing battery at a rate of roughly 10% per hour. I'm planning to restore back to 5.1 when I get home this evening, I'll never survive a workday at this pace. I haven't used voice yet, which I did yesterday. I lost 10% battery during a 10-15 min conversation.
So, mathematically, if the drain continues and I use voice for a 20 min conversation, my battery will be completely dead in an 8 hr day. Makes doing business hard. So, if apple doesn't solve the mysterious ghost drain by the time my upgrade comes around, I'm going Android. I've had enough of this. My iPad works great, but the iPhone hemorrhages battery life ever since iOS 5. 5.1 slowed it down some, but 5.1.1 opened the floodgates again in my case.

  • How to fix iOS 5.0.1 battery issues - answer

Since I upgraded to ios 5.0.1 my battery was shocking. I lost 20% overnight and about 1% every 5 mins when using the phone. This morning I turned off location based iADs and my battery has been great. I went out for 1.5 hours earlier on my bike and even took a couple of photos and my battery stayed at 66%.
I don't know if this is a true fix but it worked for me.

    Thanks for the link
Ok, last question: I know how to restore my phone without a back up. If I do this will I lose my installed apps and music? I have all of my mp3's so worst case scenario I can put those back in my itunes. What about the apps that I have purchased? Thanks for your help!

  • IOS 8.1 massive battery issue

Since I've been updating my 5s with latest 8.1, my 5s now facing a battery drainage problem!! Massive! I've been charged full 100% battery and with only 1 hour while playing slight wechat only, it draining like **** until 70%.. And heating like oven!! This never happen before! Even before i've been playing with heavy use of wechat, beetalk, games and video, it still remain 84%.. Now it's draining like water leaking.... iOS 7 is always better 1001% compare to iOS 8.. There is always a new problems!! U guys solved 10 problems/bugs, but again u guys will create 2 to 3 new problems!! What's wrong with Apple nowaday?! Think about to moving on to Samsung!

I'm also seeing something like this. I believe I may have isolated one issue that Apple have verbally acknowledged: Re: Did iOS8.1 fixed the battery draining and heating problem with iPhone 5s?
However i wonder if it's more general. Just a few hours browsing on my phone with very little running in the background uses a lot of battery. I go to use settings and it tells me that Safari has used 45% of th battery in a few hours. This never happened on ios7.
After each release of iOS there is usually a load of people moaning about battery life who don't understand the options of how their phone works but it does feel like there is a genuine issue here. A lot of the noise seems to be coming from iPhone5S owners, I wonder if the more General wifi issues are causing problems elsewhere......
i Don't suspect it will be that long before we see a patch.

  • IOS 7.0.4 battery issue on my 4s

    I normally don't post,
I can't help but voice my frustration.
My wife and I have the same type iphone, 4s
I always update before she does.
Recently updated my iphone 4s to iOS 7.0.4 around Nov. 22,
Since my update I've had a problem getting through the day (under minimal use) after a full charge overnight.
It may be coincidence but I doubt it, since my wife's phone is working just fine the same as always (even with iOS 7.0.3).
Reading all the problems others have had that are similar to mine, i think this is a sign that apple has lost its way.
I have read (and attempted) various methods to save battery via adjusting settings and resets, but seriously?
My iphone should not become a paper weight just because I update the os!
I will have a hard time convincing myself to buy any more apple products in the future.
    -I miss Steve Jobs

I did a complete reset, but then I restored from last back up file.
Even after I did all that there was no significant difference.
At this point I figured it was not the OS causing my severe battery drain.
Then I decided to wipe out all of my apps, and start with only the default apps.
After I did this I noticed a significant increase battery life.
I realized that one of the apps that I was running must have been the culprit.
(Unfortunately I don’t know which one it was…)
Now, I can go a solid two days (mostly on standby, close to what I was used to) without having to charge my phone.
I wish I knew exactly which app was causing my issue but since I wiped out so many, I can't say specifically which one was the culprit.
I have also been more cautious when adding new apps, careful to watch and see as I add them, if they adversely affect my battery life.

what was it that apple put into this update.? my battery seems to drain just as fast if not a bit faster. i charged last night and went to bed at 11:30P. i unplugged it and left on. in the morning got up at 6:30A and battery was at 80%. i know leaving on will drain. but 20% just sitting there???? i dont mean to hate on apple but what the f*ck man.! what was the "fix" anyone know the difference from 5.0 to 5.0.1????

I feel better knowing I wasn't going crazy this morning. After spending the last 15 hours tweaking iTunes Match, I was afraid the service was draining my battery, but then I just let it sit idle on my desk at work and periodicaly checked it, every 30 minutes I lost 5% when it was in standby. When I was checking mail in 5 minutes, the battery drained 1% each minute. After a full night charge last night the day of standby has brought me down to 43%. I normally charge my 4s every other night, and I listen to Pandora and TuneIn Radio regularly. I have a feeling it hasn't affected everyone, just like I had no issue before, but clearly have a massive issue now.
SERIOUSLY, APPLE. Make an announcement acknowledging this garbage. If my device doesn't get its normal battery life back, the poor folks at my local Apple Store are going to have my family and I raging the place.

  • Ios 7.0.4 battery issue and DFU mode restore

Hi guys. My iphone has an issue with its battery since i updated my iphone from ios 6.0.2 to 7.0.1 until now ios 7.0.4. I have tried many things, like turn off parallax, background app refresh, location service, mail to fetch, air drop, bluetooth, celular data, delete icloud back up from iphone, delete email acount, reset all setting, restore from back up, restore and set it as new phone, but all thoose things didn't help. Now I loose 1% for 3 minutes. Before thoose update i loose 1% about 6 minutes.
But i have been oberseving so far to know what is causing this issue. This morning i did the DFU mode restore, exatcly not recovery mode restore. After DFU restore completed, i watched every each percent of my battery begun increases to 4,30 minutes while using internet via safari. After that i restored again from my itunes backup, and the battery back to 1 % / 3 minutes while using safari with the same setting. This is first time my battery increases, and my first time i used the dfu mode restore. So far i always using itunes restore.
I guess there are something make the battery drained. I think that icloud data and email account causes this issue. But when i try delete manually my two email accounts and icloud data backup. My battery still 1% / 3 minutes.
So, are you guys have some experiences? Any ideas?
    Thanks before, regards from Indonesia

I'am sorry. I'am using ios 7.0.4 now. I forget to set it before i send that post

  • IPhone 4S iOS 5.1.1 battery issue

Hi, i have an iPhone 4S 16GB iOS 5.1.1 and have terrible battery life.
I fully charged my phone to 100% this morning and it has drained 70% in just 7 hours under very minimal usage [wifi OFF - cellular data OFF - bluetooth OFF - photo stream OFF - location services OFF] also i have only 15 downloaded apps and about 400 songs after a major cleanup.
I also factory restored my device the day before and had done multiple hard resets, so please don't give me advice about that. I am wondering if there is any fix because atm i am certainly leaving apple if there is no fix

  • When will iOS 7 be fixed, so I can use airplay again?

Seems like Aplle don't want me to contact them, so I have to try here: Is there any chance that IOS 7 on Ipad will be fixed soon, so we can use airplay again?

I am a teacher and use 3 iPad 2s and 3 iPad 3s in my classroom. Since upgrading to iOS 7 the iPad 3s work for about 4 tries mirroring to Apple TV with a long lag time and then finally no video/picture/mirroring showing on the screen. The iPad 2s so far work fine. I took them to my home network and I had the same problem with the iPad 3. Again, no problem with the iPad 2. I then took them all down to the Genius Bar at the Apple Store and the same problem happened. If you hard reset the iPad it will work again for about 2 or 3 tries before not showing up at all on the screen. The "genius" brought out one of their iPad 3s and after about 4 times switching mirroring on and off, etc., they experienced the same problem. This is an iOS 7 problem and Apple needs to fix this. As an educator this is unacceptable. As a consumer this is huge. I never had any problems whatsoever with the iPad 3 and Apple TV on iOS 6.
