Will iPad gain storage capacity when iCloud is started?

I have not been able to find a "solid" answer regarding the impact of iCloud on my iPad's storage capacity.  For example, my Music Library totals 2GB.  If I initiate iCloud, does that 2GB transfer to iCloud and free up 2GB on my iPad for Movies, Apps, or more Music...? Or does it transfer to iCloud with no change to my iPad capacity?  Thank you for your time and energy on this.  Look forward to hearing any feedback.........

iCloud will make any purchases you have made on iTunes available to all your devices.
I think you are talking about iTunes Match, that makes all your music library available to all your devices. However, it downloads any selected music to your device, it does not stream it.  In addition, any local content you have already stored on your iPad will not be affected, i.e. it will still take up the 2Gb unless you delete it locally and then re-download it when you want to listen.
So, the short term answer is, yes, it will free up your 2Gb IF you delete it locally, but whenever you listen to any music from the Cloud, it will start to claw back that space until you delete it again.

  • IPad 2 storage capacity

I Am trying to update to IOS 8.1 but get the message that I don't have enough storage capacity. I have a 32 Gb Ipad, with less than 1 Gb of storage available. I checked my storage under general settings, it shows that I have 7Gb of photos, even though I only have 170 photos stored on my device. When I check the "about" the device setting, it shows that I have 7000 photos. Where are they? I obviously need to delete them as I think this may be the problem with the storage capacity. Any help is appreciated.

Q1. There are compatible flashdrives tha allwo you to do this through their own Apps such as the Sandisk Wireless Flash Drive among others.   http://www.sandisk.com/products/wireless/flash-drive/  It cannot eb done with regular flash drives though.

  • Effect on BW Storage Capacity when BW statistics cubes are activated

    Hi..
When BW statistics(technical content) is activated, is there a large effect on the BW storage capacity? As of now we are less space in BW(available is 20 GB), I want to know how much space these technical content will occupy so that I can decide if to activate them or not.
Is there any good document which shows the sizing estimate of activating the technical content.
    Thanks,
    Sai.

A.H.P. and Buddhi have already provided what you need to know.
    Coupe of other tidbits -
RSDDSTATAGGRDEF is the largest of the tables, as it is collecting InfoObject usage for each navigation. It gets loaded to the 0BWTC_C03 cube.
The purge of the RSDDSTAT* tables, as Buddhi mentions allows you to specify a date to purge older data.  It deletes data older than the specified date from all of teh RSDDSTAT tables.  The process goes thru and runs a delete query table by table.  It should generall be run off hours as it can result in some rather large delete queries.
You can also run selective deletions from the statistics cubes to only retain as much history as you need there.
This stuff is all pretty granular so you have to think about how long you need to retain it.  I have created a ZBWTC_C51 cube that I load summarized data to from the 0BWTC-C02 cube.  I retain history in the summary cube for a long time for mgmt reporting on query volume and performance trends at a monthly time grain.  This lets me reduce the amount of history I retain the more detailed cubes.  It really depends on what kinds of reporting you need to provide.

  • Why does iTunes say my iPad is "over capacity" when it isn't?

Hi. I saw someone posted about there iPhone last night and added my question there, but since I've not had a response I will create a new question.
I went to sync my iPad yesterday and I got an error saying it was "over capacity." I checked online and saw many discussions about the Other folder (for lack of a better name), so checked the information on how to overcome this. None of the solutions helped so I did a Restore. The iPad set up again and I went to sync, but I get the same error. Not it claims I am 1.8 GB "over capacity." In reality, I am trying to sync about 7 GB of data on an iPad with over 13 GB of free space. I tried updating iTunes (done), checked for an update to the iPad (I have the latest version of the OS), and tried rebooting both the computer and the iPad. I still get the same error.
How can I get iTunes to sync my data?
Thanks for any assistance you can offer. Please don't refer me to this article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1503
Those are the things I tried yesterday that didn't work. New ideas?
    Thanks,

Are you sure it's not iCloud that's "over capacity".

How to Remove “Other” Data from iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch

With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. If you sync lots of documents to apps like GoodReader, DropCopy, or anything else that reads external files, your storage use can skyrocket. With iOS 5/6/7, you can see exactly which applications are taking up the most space. Just head to Settings > General > Usage, and tap the button labeled Show All Apps. The storage section will show you the app and how much storage space it is taking up. Tap on the app name to get a description of the additional storage space being used by the app’s documents and data. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.

  • Setup iPad for other user when iCloud pw is unknown.

I'm a tech director for a school district with ~450 iPads. Often, I get students or staff who move out and leave their iPads logged into iCloud as themselves. I need to get these iPads setup for other users. How can I setup an iPad if the previous user is long gone?
Nobody is going to give me their Apple ID password and I wouldn't expect them to. Recovery mode lets me wipe it but I still need to enter the previous user's Apple ID and pw to proceed.
    I don't use Configurator; I prefer iTunes.

Might be some help on this link, but you may need the password.

  • Saving ipad 3 Storage Space

Hi everyone, I am new to the ipad as I have only had mine for a few months. I have questions in regard to transferring books, movies ect to my PC. I guess my biggest question is after I have synced my purchases and they show up in itunes, can I delete them from the ipad and still have access to them because they are in itunes? And then what happens when I sync again after they are deleted and itunes sees that they are not on the device any longer. Are they removed from itunes because they have been deleted from the ipad ? How exactly does all of this work ? I use my ipad for entertainment purposes only - books, music and magazines ect ... After a while, I am going to have a storage issue so I need to know if I will simply have to delete some items or if there are ways to keep access to them. Forgive my naive questions :-) I have no idea what I am doing !

Using the camera connection kit, you can only import photos and videos using the camera, an SD card or an USB flash drive. You can't export any type of files using the CCK.
I bought a cheap 3rd party CCK to use as a backup for my Apple CCK. Works fine.
There are some wireless external hard drives that can be used with the iPad.
The Kingston Wi-Drive, which costs $50 for the 16 Gigabyte, and then $30 more for every 16 gigs more. It works by you turning it on and then accessing the files on it from an app that you download on your iDevice. You can access music, movies, and other stuff. No connections or anything, it works like a WiFi connection, you connect to it from the setting on the iPad under wireless networks.
Then there is the Seagate GoFlex, which some would recommend over the Wi-Drive. But this one costs $199 and had 500 Gigabytes of storage. It works the sameway as the Kingston: no wires, runs over its wireless connection. You can actually fit up to 300 HD movies on it.

  • Storage Capacity Description

    Hi Guys,
Just wondering...what comprises "OTHER" on the iPad's storage capacity description? It seems to be taking up a lot of space on my iPad...next to my photos.
    Thanks.

It can be lots of things...
Data from apps. Calendars, Notes, etc.
If it's excessive, you might have to restore it.
Mine currently has ~600MB of Other. Seems normal from iOS experiences.
You may have more and it be normal. If it's GB's, I'd try a restore and copy data back.

  • When I upload my photos to the cloud will the storage capacity in my device be adjusted?

When I upload my photos to the cloud will the storage capacity in my device be adjusted?

See the following quote from iCloud Photo Library beta FAQ - Apple Support
How does iCloud Photo Library save space on my device?
If you turn on Optimize [device] Storage, iCloud Photo Library will automatically manage the size of your library on your iOS device, so you can make the most of your device's storage and access more photos than ever. iCloud Photo Library stores the original, high-resolution photos and videos in iCloud and can keep lightweight, device-optimized versions on each of your devices. As long as you have enough storage, recent photos and videos that you access the most will stay on your device at full resolution.
You can turn on Optimize [device] Storage from Settings > iCloud > Photos or Settings > Photos & Camera > iCloud Photo Library on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. You need an Internet connection to access an original photo or video that’s stored only in iCloud.

No. iTunes match does not use your icloud storage. Match scans your library to determine which tracks are matched or uploaded.
